Your Questions About Internet Business Ideas

Chris asks…
How do I get an internet business marketed?
I have an Idea for an internet business but I am not sure how to start it up Thanks for your advise

Jere answers:
Several options:
1. Driving traffic to your site to get more exposure
2. Join some affiliated to trade your profit with exposure
There is some site collecting some information for reference, http://www.totoware.com/resources.html
Believe or not, it is not as easy as others claimed. You have to put big efforts.

Daniel asks…
What internet business should i set up?
I would like to set up an internet business. Has anyone got any ideas what i should set up. I don`t really care what the business would sell as long as it has a chance of making a profit in these difficult economic times. All suggestions welcome. Thanks

Jere answers:
Hey,
If you want a business from which you could benefit for a long time and to be automated. Then I would advice you to choose a good multi-tier business program.
Create Your Own Website with relevant keywords, build links and promote it. Once your site running successfully and you are ranked high on search engine, you will get automated sign ups every month.
I am using the same method to get sign ups for most of my MLM or Affiliate Business.
This is my most recent website: http://sfihomebusiness.ranviews.com
Its just a month old and I already got 38 signups by promoting this page and its yet to be indexed by google. Once it get a good search engine ranking and decent amount of targeted visitors, I’ll stop promoting it and everything will be on autopilot.
Hope this help! 🙂

Ken asks…
Does anyone have a really good business idea that involves the internet?
Does anyone have a really good business idea that involves the internet? I really need an idea for the upcoming deca competition…
Don’t say porn, its already been used way too much

Jere answers:
Virtual means almost as good as. As in “he is virtually a genius”.
Reality is the world we know.
Virtual Reality has the ability to create “almost as good as” for everything (good and bad) that we have in our reality. The BIG money makers has been in figuring out something that exists in our reality, finding out that there is no virtual version, and jumping on it.
It can be anything, good or bad. From a well known business which is all laid out and easily converted to a virtual version (the latest virtual walk-thrus for real estsate? Or the online car salesman?) to something like a real world scam or crime.
The latest Ive gotten a kick out of is the serious buy-n-sell of fixer upper realestate where its all virtual. Kids building up castles in the online worlds that sell for $1000 on ebay. Or complete real estate development in SecondLife of everything from malls to landscaping. The fashion world in SecondLife is interesting also with buy and sell of clothing or hairstyles for avatars. And the brokerage businesses which cash in on the fluctuations in the conversions of game moneys (what is hot and what is not).

Michael asks…
What are some business ideas and ways to make money as a teenager?
Hey, im 14 and I am looking for ways to make money. I have been cutting lawns during the summer for about 4 years but I am wondering if there are any other business ideas I could use to make some more money. Any ideas are appreciated, thanks

Jere answers:
In your situation, I will advise you that get some computer knowledge and internet browsing experience a little more. This will open several doors to make money online without doing such physical work in lawns or in hotel restaurants.
You can have some money making ideas which others have already asked at http://in.answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AoTOU7yIQ7ViXa4UIC5q1XORHQx.;_ylv=3?qid=20100329043230AANeJW4&show=7#profile-info-WJXfCZwSaa

Your Questions About Business Online Services Group

William asks…
What is a good/catchy tag line for our buy and sell online business?
I’m a college super senior taking up IT and one of our major subjects is Technopreneurship. We’re required to set up an eBusiness. My group decided to set up an online buy and sell business. We’re planning to set up a website where students from our university alone, can advertise their products or services on our website. The name of our business is “Know it”. We thought of that name because students from our university can use our website to KNOW about the items that other fellow students are advertising on our website. And once they know about these items, they might want to buy them. What would be a good/catchy tag line for our “Know it” business? Thank You in advance for your ideas!

Jere answers:
“Now that it is known, do you want to own?”

Carol asks…
What are my chances of setting up a successful business and dropping out of college?
I’ve taken business in college, i’m no slacker, i work hard in college and i was so determined to do my best, however i did start late after i changed courses 5 weeks into the term and now i’m struggling to catch up and understand the new tasks being set as well as doing the old tasks, i’m even taking catch up days.
But anyway, my idea is that i do the next two days of college and then hit half term break, in half term, i am so determined to come up with a retail business plan, create surveys and send the surveys out by handing them out in super-markets, shopping centers and so on. Now my way of collecting the surveys will either be getting the clients to do the survey on site at their own will, or by asking them to post it with a 3rd class sticker in the envelope, or asking them questions and noting them down – either way that’s not too relevant.
Then with those retail service questions answered, i truly want to come up with my own market with plans put into action of providing good loyal service, i will also create my website and deliver my service on online trading sites starting with Ebay.
Eventually i wish to take my retail service into publishing, all kinds of articles for different age groups, on all kinds of subjects. I want my own agony aunts for live discussions online, books published and so on.
If i drop out of college, please be honest, what are the chances of becoming even mildly successful, and does dropping out hinder my chances of becoming an entrepreneur?
Will staying in college make me overall more successful in my own business?
I sure as hell don’t want to stay employed for the rest of my life, i’ll give up alot to be self employed and hard working.

Jere answers:
I’ve been an entrepreneur all my life and have enjoyed myself and I barely graduated high school. Bill Gates and many other famous people didn’t go to or finish college. Some of my school pals didn’t go to college and became millionaires as I will be soon. It takes a sharp and dedicated person to make it, only 10% make it to the second year. You need to have a plan on paper and devote yourself to following the plan, never wavering in your decisions. You sound like you might make it, just work real smart, reflecting every day on how you’re doing. Read, read and read some more on business and personal development. Work on your plan while finishing school just in case you need the diploma in the future to get a job, never know, better to have a back up plan. Best of luck to you.

Donald asks…

Jere answers:

3. Go to network marketing events where you can learn from the experts and take note for each speaker.
Now you can do your online marketing which is very effective. There are many ways you can market online.
1. Set up facebook fan page for your products and include images and your affiliate link
2. Join network marketing groups and add friends from that group and build relationship with them.
3. Start your own group and invite like minded people
4. Post update about your services on facebook news feeds.

Lisa asks…
Where do you even begin to start your own business?
I’m only 17, but my dream way in the future is to some day open a hair salon. I think it would be a neat environment to create. With the economy and all I know it’s tough to start your own business & keep it going, but it’s nice to think about.
How do you even start though?

Jere answers:
In the garage.
Well, first you think of your idea, then since we live in the modern world, you create a website and perhaps even a blog, then learn about internet marketing and once that is set up, think how do you want to offer your service and to what group of people and then just start advertising it online or spread the word on town.
Starting your own business is piece of cake, remaining successful is almost impossible without going to ruin everything for the first couple of times.
However, if you were ever serious about doing business you would have already realised you could’ve Googled this and find hundreds of answers, you should read books. Without education business doesn’t exist. There is no point asking here. Any true business people don’t waste their time on answering questions on Yahoo! Answers, they’re too busy creating their own site.

Your Questions About The Real Biz

Linda asks…
current college student has a chance to be an heiress if I learn real estate where should i start?
I need to start in a program because i have the chance to take over a great business that has a strong foundation but there not gonna put it in the hands of anyone, only someone who they think will keep the business going.

Jere answers:
The first thing you need to do is decide if you’re only going into it because you can get rich. There’s every possibility you’ll a) hate it and b) suck at real estate sales (which is very different from any other kind of sales).
I went to Bert Rodgers (think that’s how it’s spelled) to get my RE license. I was in the biz for 3 months before I realized it was a huge HUGE mistake. I despised the business. Many people thrive in it, but before you set your goal on being an “heiress,” you really need to talk to people IN the business – find out the day to day needs – find out what kinds of personalities are successful in it — do research on more than just how to run the business. It would suck for you and them if it turned out that you weren’t cut out for it…
Would you wake up one day and decide because you could make $125K a year that you’d take up chemistry? Or law? Treat this the same. It’s your future. It shouldn’t be based solely on income potential.

Carol asks…
Where can I get a REAL stay at home job?
I do not want a scam, just lead on places that are hiring with work from home. CSR, phone work, something. Thanks!

Jere answers:
Job-search-tips.awardspace.biz – I used this site. You can compare such online job offers here.

Mandy asks…
How sad for Republicans that the big businesses they worshipped haven’t hired a single person?
They must be totally insane by now that the big businesses they worshipped and gave super-human breaks of deregulation to for decades haven’t hired a SINGLE person for years and sit on money while Americans are unemployed by the millions. Guess those deregulated BIG BIZ guys done ya wrong, real wrong. That’s why you won’t get any votes in 2012…can’t produce the goods for “the little guy”, now can ya?

Jere answers:
They always get conned into voting against their own interest…

I’m 14 and looking for a real agent. Please help me

Jere answers:
Ok
so none of these answers are very detailed but I would love to help you. I am also a young teen. Here are some of the tips I did when I first started out.

David asks…
Where in CT can I go to school to become a real estate agent?
What schools offer this type of program?

Jere answers:
Check the continuing education course listings at your local high school or nearest community college. Also check the classified ads in your local newspaper to see if any realtors are holding open houses for people interested in real estate careers — probably not now though.
Note that CT, like most other states, have continuing education requirements to keep your RE agent’s license. You will also need sufficient funds for all your business-building expenses in addition to the classes and licensing exam and license fees. Include: advertising, business cards, printing brochures, gas & maintenance for your vehicle to show prospects around, etc. You need a very good car, kept immaculately clean, a digital camera, and a cell phone. And you must have sufficient funds/income to live on for at least a year while you build your biz. It can take a long time to close deals and get your share of the commission.
Biz is not good in CT (tho nowhere near as bad as some places!). There’s a glut of real estate agents as it is, and as so many people get laid off & can’t find jobs, they are turning to RE despite the horrendous downturn! Great biz for those who get really good at it. But it is really, really tough to get started.

Your Questions About Internet Marketing Inc

David asks…
How is affiliate marketing? Is it another smoke screen to sell useless guides to desperate people?
I am desperate to find a way to start my own home based business, and affiliate marketing seems good because there is virtually no startup cost (I’m broke). Is this something likely to bring in a real income?

Jere answers:
I don’t know anyone who is affiliated in affiliated marketing. So I can’t really answer that. But I do know, that you wouldn’t be owning your own business unless you invest money into it. By means of a start up cost, or buying products yourself and re selling them, advertisement or something along those lines. Owning a business is not free. I wrote some things down that might help you to see for yourself if this is a good business to get involved in, using my business as an example. If on the list it checks out (you may have to do some research) but if it all checks out, then you can chose to do it. IF it’s a business, don’t just try it. You need to devote time and effort into it and build it. If your going to just try a business, you will most likely fail! So here’s a few things that you should take a look at before getting involved in any company.
1. How long have they been in business? We checked to see how long our company was around, at the time it was nine years old and now it’s 15. Do you know when they started? If it’s under 5 years, then their is a risk factor
2. Are they registered with the BBB. Ours is registered. I think this is important one.
3. Who’s involved with the company? Like in ours Donald Trump, Robert Kiyosaki has endorsed our company. Many actors and actresses, business owners, government officials etc use our products. Check to see if anyone has endorsed this company. Also, meet with the co-founders. We’ve personally met our co-founders and found from our first meeting that they were incredible people with incredible visions. See if their’s a time where you can meet them. If your going to be doing business, there should be a time where you should have the chance to meet with them.
4. What is the compensation plan now, and what was it like before.
See the history of the comp plan and see if increases and never decreases in it’s history. We checked with the records in our business and found that in over the years, the compensation plan had only gotten better each year. As long as we’ve been involved, we’ve now witnessed the compensation plan always increasing. Check the history on yours.
5.Have they been featured in magazine’s? For instance our company has been featured in several magazines Like Success, Fortune, USA Today etc. Check to see if they have. You can get a lot of information on the company by reading about them.
6. Has Inc 500 rated them? This magazine or slit rated our company the 22nd fastest growing company in revenue in it’s first 5 years. Inc 500 shows the top 500 businesses in revenue growth. Check to see what Inc 500 rated the company your looking at.
7. Do they have a physical address that you can go to? Check for an address not just a P.O. Box
8. Where are their headquarters? Our world headquarters is in Farmington Hills Michigan, Personally been there, (If your here in the states) Other headquarters in different countries. And US headquarters in Charlotte.
9. What does the start up cost take care of? If there is no start up cost, what will you have to be dishing out and for what? In my business headquarters takes care of all the billing for my customers, Inventory, Customer services, Order Entry, Employees, workman’s comp, Cross referencing, Licensing, Insurance, paperwork, accounts payables, accounts receivables etc.
10. What is the product and service you would be selling.
Is the product and service in high demand? For instance we offer services that people are already using every day and paying for anyway, but at a lower cost. Things like Local and Long distance telephone services, Internet, video phones, digital phones, cellular phones through all the major cellular providers. We make a percentage every single month they pay their bills. Everyone uses them and everyone pays for them. When money gets tight, would they keep your service or be able to run to the store and be able to purchase them on sale? Leaving you to have to wait until they run out of what they just purchased, or wait until their finances get settled? This is what I mean by high demand.
So many different things to check out in making sure a business is a good one to get involved in. If the business feels right to you, and all questions are answered and you feel good about it, then I’d say jump in. Running a business is different then a job though. You have to treat it like it’s your child and not just something your going to “try” you have to believe in the product and service and go at it full force. This is your future your talking about, no one else’s.
I hope my examples of what we looking into with our business helps you be able to find the same answers in the business your looking into. Forget about asking the common question and asking someone how much they make in their business to determine if you’d get involved in this or not. In a business, it doesn’t matter what one business is making over another. It only matters what you do in “YOUR” business. I hate it when people ask me how much I make. Because they’re not going to walk into and start up their business making what I make. I’ve been involved with my business for over six years. So yeah, I will make more. If you tell someone how much you make, then it’s a psychological thing that they expect to make that amount in a week, and that is just not going to happen. Six years of building a business verses 1 day. So don’t even ask. Look at the possibilities for YOURSELF.

What do you guys/gals think? From past experience or knowledge of the concept or even company. Any information will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I haven’t heard of Market America, so I’m not knocking it. But wanted to give you some information on things you should check into before getting involved in any company. Here’s a few things that my husband and I looked into before getting involved in ours.

Donald asks…
was blockbuster surprised when netflix took away their market share?
what i don’t understand is how could blockbuster have not forseen this coming and attacked the internet market first to get the marketshare?

Jere answers:
Actually, Blockbuster launched a very similar mailing service once Netflix launched.
Here is the problem. Netflix allows you to stream movies unlimitedly from the Net. That is a plus.
Also, B-buster agressivley opened many in-store kiosks that simply do not get the traffic they once did.
Another hit to B-buster is Coinstar, Inc.’s Redbox. I am sure you have seen these self-serve kiosks at pharmacies or grocery stores.
Lastly, once Gamefly intorduced the game rental service, Blockbuster was creamed. Unless they drum up a new business and positoning model, I foresee an acquisition or Bankruptcy.
In my opinion, Blockbuster relied too long on people wanting to come in and rent movies. Now, people want bargains and convenience. Unfortunately, the brand loyalty that many of us had with the company is simply obsolete.

Your Questions About Email Marketing Companies

Sandy asks…
How many multi marketing companies have you had real success with?
I am pursuing several different marketing companies. I would appreciate some feed back from all of you whom have sufficient experience with any thanks.

Jere answers:
My company is an MLM and is extremely successful because we sell products that majority of households use. We sell candles.
I am an Independent Distributor for Mia Bella Candles and Bath Products. All of our candles are 100% all natural- they are safe for the entire family and the environment. Not only that, they burn evenly, meaning no more wasted candle (which means wasted money).
With this company, you can make as little or as much as you want. Your opportunity is endless.
If this sounds like something you would be interested in, please do not hesitate to email me. I can mail you a catalog along with other information, including a sample scent. You can also check it out on my website

Mandy asks…
Is there a website where I can read about marketing company reviews?
These marketing companies all over the internet “guarantee” more business for your company. I want to see some reviews on these companies.

Jere answers:
Mediapost.com
in my opinion, best industry standard on marketing and advertising news.. Great emails to opt-into also.
Adage.com
mostly advertising news
marktd.com
good blog/forum on current marketing trends and ideas

Mary asks…
How do I go about creating an email newsletter?
I have a small business and I am considering doing an email newsletter like I get all the time from various companies. I am a graphic design and only know basic HTML, but I’m not sure if that’s enough to be able to create one on my own. Are there any sites or tutorials on how to create an email marketing campaign on your own?
I want to use graphics too.

Jere answers:
You don’t need to know anything about html to create an email newsletter…

Thomas asks…
Can anyone tell me a Good Email marketing program?
I’m interested in buying or finding “free” Email marketing software can anyone recommend a good software package that is easy to use and follow.

Jere answers:
Most of them are scams. The only thing i suggest u do is buy your own emails, and do the marketing yourself. Never pay or sign up to a company promising that you can email millions everyday.
I can only recommend you to buy your own leads and do the promotion yourself. Here’s a site they sell bulk email leads http://qualitybase.org/emails.aspx

Robert asks…
How do I send out weekly emails to people who sign up for information?
I signed up on some companies website for 52 tips to get more energy. Every week I get a tip emailed to me. I am sure that this is done by some marketing company or website or something. How is that done, because every person starts on a different week.

Jere answers:
Look at the fine print on the email you are receiving. It should indicate the email company. If there is a remove or unsubscribe link it should also point to the company.

Your Questions About Business Online Backup

Paul asks…
What is the lastest version of Quickbooks used to date by general businesses?
Since a lot of businesses use Quickbooks for their accounting and to track expenses, I would like to learn to use the program. I know that currently, Intuit Quickbooks Pro 2011 is out, but is that what does everyone use? How much different is the new version compared to the older versions? Thanks

Jere answers:
If you are asking for skill-set purposes, then – if possible – you will want to be capable in the most current version. This brings you the widest possible set of potential employers. Employers running v2007 will bring you on if you claim v2011 capable but the reverse is not necessarily true.
To answer your direct question: I know many businesses still running 2007-2009 versions. As long as the program runs, you keep solid backups, you do not use payroll or online banking, there is not much incentive to pay for an upgrade.
The one factor which enters into the equation is that Intuit will stop supporting a version after 3 years. So, if you are running 2007 and it crashes, you may be forced to upgrade.
Difference in versions is sometimes minor. There were very important upgrades in 2009 version (particularly in Online Banking) but v2010 was relatively limited in new upgrades as v2011 appears to be.
Good luck!

Mark asks…
Explain why ‘cloud-based’ software is beginning to affect the traditional software businesses. How do you t?
2) Explain why ‘cloud-based’ software is beginning to affect the traditional software businesses. How do you think that software producers might respond?

Jere answers:
I’ve been developing software for 8 years now. Cloud-based software, or services rather, are a growing trend because they allow businesses to consolidate / over-commit resources or make particular IT tasks redundant.
Software producers can either sink or they can swim. Many companies do not like the idea of cloud-based solutions from a security and accountability perspective depending on the service and refuse to use them. Others see it as an opportunity to reduce costs and increase services. For example, see Microsoft Office 365 services online (or Google Apps). You can host Exchange yourself but then you’ll either need on-staff IT, servers on-site or at a co-location, you’d have to pay for power, etc. Cloud-based service worries about all of this for you and only costs you a fraction. There is a breaking-point, of course, in terms of manageability and cost as well.
Things to consider for cloud-based services are:
-Accountability of data on the cloud-based service
-Redundancy of service
-Liability of service and data
-Cost of service
-Manageability (is the service customizable? Do you control it? Etc)
-Does it fit with the long-term goals of the business
Cloud-based services are a great way for individuals to license software (See O365), backup data (see onlinefilefolder.com, Acronis online backup, etc.). Virtual Machines and Virtual Servers have been a part of web-hosting solutions for years because they allow companies to commit all of their resources and save money on hardware, software licensing, power and administration. In turn it allows the consumer to do more with less.
Cloud-based computing and services will be a huge multi-billion dollar industry (it already is). It’s the direction we’re headed in whether people like it or not. Compare the paper book publishers with eBook mogul Amazon. EBooks are here to stay and paper-based publishers are going out of business. It’s not sad, it’s just life.

James asks…
Should I buy a digital piano online or in a physical store?
You can buy everything online now, so is that ok to buy a digital piano online or in a physical store?

Jere answers:
I would always recommend buying from a store, that way you have the backup of the store and a contact within the store if anything did go wrong or if you had any follow up questions about your piano. I also suggest buying from a store as they should have knowledgeable staff to help with the technical jargon and to help make your decision. There is so much you can read and research from the internet but it doesn’t give you the playing experience, involvement and musicianship you need to have to buy a piano.
Key Player is a family business opened in 1967, the most reliable place to buy a digital piano, even if you order it online in its eshop.

Jenny asks…
. The newspaper and magzine industries are losing business now that a lot of the same information can be found
. The newspaper and magzine industries are losing business now that a lot of the same information can be found on the internet. How is the periodical industry reaction?

Jere answers:
The newspaper and magazine industries are adapting to the different media model and are not necessarily losing business in the long run. Printed based dissemination of news is migrating to digital form, not only available online, but delivered to mobile devices. Yes, information can be found easily, but readers still seek and demand quality information from reliable and credible sources.
I disagree with Skeptic’s claim regarding periodicals’ reasons for moving from print to digital. Many periodicals continue to offer print versions in addition to digital ones and are doing so based on user demands and expectations (in addition to user benefits such as full text searching). Going digital is not necessary cheaper because of costs involved with backups, long-range storage solutions, the need for higher skilled workers, hardware, etc. In fact, digital subscriptions cost the same (or sometimes even more) as paper subscriptions.
High volume sites can rely on advertising revenue to open information to a greater audience. For example, the New York Times recently eliminated its subscription based online model because it can generate income based on advertising. Increased traffic (=increased advertising revenue) will offset its earnings based on subscriptions.

Sandra asks…
Can I insure a flashdrive with business photos on it?
I have a flashdrive that I use strictly for photos for my online store. Can this be insured for lost, theft, fire, etc?

Jere answers:
Makes much more sense to backup the flash drive on to another flash drive and keep that flash drive off the premises such as a safety deposit box.
To specifically answer your question there is a coverage called a valuable papers and records floater. That coverage is intended to insure written, printed or otherwise inscribed documents, such as books, maps, films, drawings, abstracts, deeds, mortgages, plans, blueprints, etc. It would cover the cost of reproducing those lost or damaged documents up to the policy limit.

Your Questions About Direct Marketing Strategies

Sandra asks…
What are some successful marketing strategies that have worked for you?
I am starting my own insurance agency and am trying to build up my book of business through effective marketing. Although I have been working on some good strategies so far, I am looking for any advice to push it to the next level. What strategies have been successful for you?

Jere answers:
I firmly believe that direct sales (cold and warm calling) are terrific ways to reach people. They are free and time after time I’m able to generate sales this way. I would augment any marketing with 5-10 calls per day to people introducing yourself. Make a note of who is potentially interested and continue to follow up with them.
Some good sales resources: Top 25 Habits of Successful sales people, millerheiman.com and salesguy.org.

Carol asks…
Need help for developing marketing strategies?
I have been made the marketing manager of a software firm. But i have no experience in software marketing. What strategies can I implement for marketing of the firm?

Jere answers:
Direct marketing (also called relationship marketng or targeted marketing) is 1. The most practical; 2. The most productive,3. The most cost-efficient marketing tool you can use. You might want to check out this blog [word-jobber.blogspot.com] for a slew of useful marketing strategies you can adapt to your needs.

Jenny asks…
What does Marketing as a profession involve?
I am seriously considering a career in marketing, however I am a little unclear on all the aspects of this. Can anyone in this field please describe what marketing involves and what the challenging component is.
Thanks in advance.

Jere answers:
Marketing is about the product or service (product management, product life-cycle, product differentiation); the promotion of that product or service (personal selling, direct marketing, advertising, public relations, social media), the pricing (developing price strategies that fit)and the distribution (who to sell to and how to get it to market – i.e. Are you in the retail business – selling through storefronts?).
If you’re starting out, you might want to look product management. It gives you a good opportunity to focus on the product or service and learn how to match the product or service with the market (customers). I do recommend taking some marketing classes or programs.

Ruth asks…
I want a marketing firm to handle the social media for my company. How much would that cost?
I know Facebook, MySpace and Twitter are great ways to help promote my company, but I don’t have the time to learn them. How much would a marketing firm charge me to run my social media?

Jere answers:
You can find a firm to handle your social media for as little as $500 a month. However, what you might want to do is create an E-Marketing Plan. This would distill your company’s brand, set forth your objectives, and allow you to allocate resources in an organizeed and tactical way. . It would be also serve as an emergency manual when you have to make tough decisions at critical junctures. Much better than develop strategies ad hoc, as the need arises. Sure, you can jot your ideas down on a napkin over lunch and run with it, but these “let’s put on a show” ideas are seldom sustainable in the long run. It takes good tried-and-true business practices to succeed in business..
Also, there are a lot of good ideas out there: learn to cherry-pick and adapt to your own needs.
Typical of free idea sources is word-jobber.blogspot.com. While this site limits itself to direct marketing, it’s pretty shrewd. Best of all: there’s a new idea every Monday, just in time for a long week.

Helen asks…
How do I market and promote a new film production company?
The company is brand new and specializes in music videos, documentaries, special event coverage, indie films, and corporate videos. What are the best strategies for marketing and promoting the company and the products?

Jere answers:
Find out what type of audience (genre? Kids? Adults?) you want to direct your promotion to then design the marketing strategy to that audience

Your Questions About How To Do Business Taxes Online

Mandy asks…
What legal paprwork needs to be done when opening a small online business?
I just opened a small online business from home selling some of my paintings and a few handpainted items. Now, I want to know what to do to protect my Business name from being stolen? If I should start an LLC or Corporation? Or if I even need to do that since I’m a very small business…. and if I have to pay taxes then how much or what tax forms and paperwork will I be doing? Please all the help would be apreciated!

Jere answers:
Im in the same situation. Luckily my mom is an accountant so i can pass on some info to you!
If you want everything to be legit and you want to claim your business sales on your personal taxes you should be an LLC. You only get taxed once vs. Twice with corporation.
You have to pay sales tax on every item you sale and you have to file accordingly.
Maybe you know an accountant or someone that opened their own business.? Ask for advice! Theres so much to learn, good luck and wish me the same please!

Joseph asks…
Is having an online business legal ?
I wanted to have an online web designing business. But I thought about taxes. I know there’s lots of people who use pay pal etc.. to receive payments for web design etc… But how do the taxes get payed out ?

Jere answers:
Online businesses is legal and should be legal because you still pay taxes I don’t know how they pay taxes but i know that they do though.

Helen asks…
How to start an online home business in TX?
I am thinking about starting an online business, but I find out I need a resale certificate to buy the products from wholesalers in TX. Does it mean I have to charge customer taxes even through it’s going to be an online sale?
Could anyone also tell me where to start?

Jere answers:
I am a business owner in Texas. A sales tax permit simply allows you to purchase items to resell without paying sales tax. You are then responsible for collecting the sales tax from your customers on items they purchase. Some wholesale companies require a sales tax number for their customers. I recommend contacting the Texas State Comptroller’s office. They can answer your questions especially in regards to internet sales.
Good Luck!

Paul asks…
How do I start my own online business?
I would like to start my own ‘cat’ business. Cat collars, books, food, litter items, scratch posts, bedding, books, etc.
How do I go about this? I know I have to register a company name and with the tax department. I was hoping to have an online store only.
How do I go about finding and importing items for this?
Any advise?

Jere answers:
You can get stringsofsound.com to build your website for you, they built mine for really cheap ( universityreviews.ca)

Lisa asks…
Do you need a tax id to run an online business and accept credit payments via E-mail?
If so, where can I get one and how long does it take to get processed? Thank you.

Jere answers:
Tax should be handled by your bank.
To claim VAT of items (i.e. You charge your users VAT) you need a VAT number – ask an accountant or your bank.
You need to pay tax for any premises you own – inland revenue.
You may need to pay customs if business is overseas

Your Questions About Internet Business Models

Joseph asks…
How to Start an Internet Cafe Business?
I am about to start an Internet Cafe business. I need to know what I will need to get started. For example, what softwares will I need? What Hardware will I need? What services should I provide?

Jere answers:
Internet cafes are a booming business. Unless you are extremely wealthy you will need to take bank loan. Any bank will require you to have a business plan to start one.
1. Consider acquiring an existing internet cafe.
2. Consider joining a franchise.
3. Consider alternative business models to bring in various streams of revenue.

Laura asks…
How to Build a fashion brand or clothing line?
My clothing brand will be like burtons business model based around stylish garments, affordable prices and several small 10 by 10m shops.
I will sell through a on-line shop and retail stores with 250% markup from production to retail.
Any tips, advice, strategies or guidelines would be approxated.
Thats not true as there are several new brands that have become big in the last two or three years just look at allsaints, g-star and asos.
These are three market giants and have all shot to fame in the last 2-3 years.

Jere answers:
Don’t bother to be honest, people tend to shop loyally with certain shops and don’t bother with new shops especially small ones like yours would be. Clothes shopping these days is all about brand and reputation, Topshop/river island/next/H&M etc will always rule the high street market because there well known, branded but at affordable prices to the average joe, they cater for most needs from work to play all in one shop. New shops don’t last against the high street big shops. If your insistant then stick to the internet, start off by getting a good customer base on something like ebay then gradually build to your own website with better marketing. If after that your still in business making a profit then you can think about opening one or two shops, you have to start off from the bottom your trying to start from the top.

Carol asks…
How to get a venture capital for a internet business?
I have a good idea about a online business. I have expertise and have good knowledge in this field. I don’t have required funds to start this off. How should I start and get a venture capital for my idea.

Jere answers:
An attorney or business associate can be a good place to get a VC referral. You also can network among business executives in the field of your business. One thing not to do is presenting to just any VC. You want one that is interested in your particular type of business. Networking with executives that have received funding or pitched to a particular VC is the best way to gather insight. VC’s websites can be helpful at indicating their investment focus (and can show you if they already invested in a competitive venture) but they are often very broad when in reality they favor certain sectors that change over time with the business climate. The National Venture Capital Association (nvca.org) has a lot of information including a listing of members. Also, Entrepreneur magazine published a top 100 VC list: http://www.entrepreneur.com/vc100
The most important thing to getting funding is to be able to “hook” them with your opportunity and you as the entrepreneur to capitalize on it. They are looking for BIG business opportunities that create new markets and/or use new business models/products/technologies to substantially expand existing large markets.
It’s also important to understand that VCs primarily invest in great management teams, exceptional technologists or marketing experts. So, if you don’t have the background, I strongly recommend you get it before pitching your idea. Generally, you need to have either several years of senior corporate experience in the right area for your venture or be a technical expert in the field of your products/business model.
If you’ve got the goods, research the vc firms to find those that invest in your product/business area. Then, network to get a referral if possible. It is much better to get a referral than mailing a plan in. VCs get hundreds of busines plans & pitches and it is very hard to standout if you mail it in.

Donna asks…
How do musicians feel about giving away their music?
You can find pretty much any song, no matter how old or obscure on legal sites like YouTube and Grooveshark. The floodgates are open. How do musicians deal with this. Is it just a new business model to adapt to, or do they think they can stop the tsunami?

Jere answers:
They’d have to adapt. The internet is everywhere and it’s pretty much impossible to stop it all. Sure, there were attempts like what Metallica did but still it failed because I can go now and download every Metallica song ever for free and get away with it.
As a musician I would be more concerned with people ripping off my music, i.e. Stealing my riffs or lyrics or something like that.

David asks…
What is the best web coding language for a non-Engineer to learn?
I am a non-programmer with lots of internet business ideas and I want to learn an easy language to play around and make websites in. What’s the best language/tools to learn to get started making websites real quick? And what resources/books/sites do you recommend?

Jere answers:
Alright, just to start with layouts and such, you’re going to need to know HTML pretty well. Don’t worry though, you can pick up the essentials in an afternoon.
However, if you *just* use HTML, you’re likely to end up with a website that looks as though it were made circa 1996, so look into CSS (cascading style sheets). If you’re serious about designing good looking sites have a look at the book “CSS Zen Garden”, and the corresponding website.
Those two are pretty much just design and layout languages, and both are easy enough to learn. If you want to create a high level of user interactivity in your websites, things get a lot harder. In that case, you’re going to be looking at one of the following:
Javascript
AJAX
PHP
Ruby on Rails
none of which are exactly simple to learn. If you’re serious about creating websites and have a good business model, it would be worth teaming up with a professional developer to get the back-end programming done. If you just want to learn to create your own sites, stick with HTML and CSS.

What country is best for expanding globally considering their political economy & international trade?
I have to write a CPA (country portfolio analysis) report on the country of my choice from Europe, Asia, Africa or South America. I have to explore the possibility of doing business in another country. I don’t want anyone to write the report for me i just want to get off on the right start but please some reasons why you chose the country you did. (the business is a clothing store)

Jere answers:
South Africa,
for the following reasons:
-Corporate tax rates recently cut to 28% by Finance minister,
-Growing middle class, and robust consumer spending
-Relative dollar cost to run the business would much lower than in Europe though possibly not as low as Asia.
-Although listed as an emerging market – increasing the perception of risk attached to investing – South Africa’s growth is comparable to Australia in the last 3 yrs

How to start off my business?
I’m planning to make a fashion business online, but i don’t know where to start!!! I’m planning to start off selling some jewelery and move on up. But i need some advice because I’m new to the business world

Jere answers:
Hi there,
I am 100% with you in this where to start from, I come from Science background and had been thinking of doing something a bit different for a while, so the way I started is- I started going to some of these free business related events in the area, free business accounting classes, how to sell and market and how to negotiate etc. – started to talk to people and discussing various ideas, so basically researched a lot and kept everything in writing in a notepad-
Eventually I wanted to try it out so I started an online store- not so long ago. Its not so costly and as I am new in this venture I was not willing to go into something that costs me arms and legs but learn as I go. I guess some would say its not the way- the way I see it is take it easy and learn without losing out a lot of money. If you are new I will not advice you to give up on your job yet- take your time and do a lot of research and talk to people – if you are in London the British Library have a free business advice so go there and talk your ideas to them. I hope if helps, If you think it will help- visit my site on www.vDukan.com for ideas. Thanks

What are reputatable online sites that I can use to work at home?
I am a mother of three children, and I love it, but I would like to make some money from home. I do not want to babysit, or do a business such as mary kay. I just need to know some good web sites that dont want $300 to start a “homebased business” that I can earn some money with. Please help!

Jere answers:
None of the links that are given to you will give you want you want. What you want does not exist but only exists in the scammer world, for they created the idea of ” work from home and make money ” with us.
If this “thought” was true, ask yourself something simple…. Why then do billions go to college, buy suits, sit in rush hour all to get to a job?
At home, online jobs consist of web designer, art graphic person, typer, paper pusher for say insurance company, online store or ebay selling, etc.
There is no company that pays you to click sites, read emails, or anything of the such. They are all scams or pyramid scams that take your money or sell your personal info for money.

Jenny asks…
What are some good accredited online universities?
I have recently completed my bachelors degree in management and i am looking to do my masters online (Business administration, marketing or project management). However i want to do something that is noted worldwide. any suggestions?

And the Open University in the UK is pretty much the grandaddy of online education: http://www.open.ac.uk/oubs/programmes/index.php

What will be the least time required to start not for profit organization in any US state?
Which will be the best state to start a not for profit organization in US?
Can I start it online?

Jere answers:
The other poster is partially true. You need to have the status from the IRS. However, there are other steps you need to do before this process. Your state approval, articles of incorporation, basic set up like board of directors, services your going to provide, business plan, etc etc. (this isn’t listed in order either)The best place I can refer you over to is an organization that helps people with all the steps from point A to point Z on everythng. It’s called The Foundation Group. They have a 100 percent success rate. Their web site is http://www.501c3.org They will help you get everything done from the first step to the last step. Then the funding part comes into play. I can show you our funding resource if you’d like.

What consumer group can I go to to complain. My rotary tool has been at the manufactor for 3 months for repair
The tool is under warranty. They told me that they are waiting on a shipment from China. I have contacted them about 4 times and they keep telling me two more weeks. I even sent them an e-mail thur there customer service web site and they never responded back to me.

Jere answers:
Your best bet is to contact the Better Business Bureau. You can contact them online and file a complaint. Here’s your link
http://www.bbb.org/
Your other option is to contact the manufacturer directly. Do it by phone rather than by email, you will get a better response. When you contact by phone, always ask for a supervisor first, and always be polite, and plead your case in a pleasent way. You get more bees with honey, etc. Honestly, I deal in customer service everyday, we always give better responses when the client is polite and is just asking for help as oppossed to the guy that just calls and curses at us, we all avoid that person like the plague. Just something to keep in mind. Good Luck.

What’s the best school for Internet Marketing?
I’m looking into Fullsail and University of San Fransisco online courses for Internet Marketing. I wanted to know if anyone has attended these or other schools like them and what their results were?
Cheers!

Jere answers:
I’ve never heard of anyone going to Fullsail other than for entertainment industry technical classes; certainly it isn’t known for marketing. The advantage to USF is that, unless these are courses taught through their Extension program (in which case I would not really advise either school). Their courses will be transferable, should you ever choose to apply them toward an actual degree.

Steven asks…
How to Design An Affiliate Marketing Website To Make Money Online?
I am a newbie in field of internet marketing. What aspects should I take in account while designing a website.

Jere answers:
The first thing you want to do is go to *1*. Once you’ve signed up there and are in the members area, you’re going to scroll down to where it says “New JV Product Launch Announcements” Jv stands for Joint Venture. Find a product that’s at least one month away from release (even further if you can). So if today is 9/13/2012 then look for something that will come out 10/13/2012… Why? Because there’s no competition, it gives you ample opportunity to make a site early, which kind of grand father’s you in with website authority and most importantly create a youtube video with a review of the product.
Of course you won’t have the product so make a list of assumptions to the best of your degree. There will be product details on the actual page so you should get a really good idea on what the product is and what and how it does. In the video that you make, list the benefits of using it and let know to buy it below… Next go to a website called *2* and also *3* and sign up, clicksure (new but popular with JV’s) and clickbank (especially clickbank) are some of the top affiliate sites around.
Contact me if you need any help *4*

James asks…
Does anyone know of anything I can sell independently for extra cash?
I am a recent college graduate with a Business Marketing degree. I just got my first full time job in bank management. My job is great; it just doesn’t pay very well. I am looking for something I can sell independently to make a little extra cash each month. I am looking to sell something on the lines of health products/energy products. Any suggestions would be very helpful. Thanks!

Jere answers:
Check out the two library books by Robert G Allen, “Multiple Streams of Income” and “Multiple Streams of Internet Income” which will motivate you to find passive sources of income that won’t interfere with your day job. It will offer various ways to supplement your income with legitimate money making opportunities. I am not talking about 60 cent at a time survey rewards. You’ve got the marketing degree enough to know how to present yourself and your products… Get to your county offices and get a business license. It’s not going to be easy and you’re not going to make a million bucks but why not keep 100% percent of the profits from your endeavors after taxes???

Thomas asks…
What salary should I ask for my next job?
Hi,
I am looking for a new job.
I have a master’s degree in Business (6years of college studies) and 2 years of work experience doing internet marketing.
I am looking for a new position (in search engine optimization which is internet marketing). I live in Los Angeles, CA. How much should I be asking for based on these factors. I typically ask for 45 000/year, but I’m wondering if that’s too little or too much.
Thanks

Jere answers:
A master’s degree in business as in an MBA? If that’s the case and you want to go into digital marketing, 45K is way too low. Many people receive their bachelor’s degree and start their first jobs in marketing making between 50K-80K annually. The fact that you have a master’s and a couple years of work experience should net you between $70K-$100K easily. You might be negotiating wrongly or not communicating your value to the company in the best way possible. 45K is unacceptable for most people who have been out of undergrad for at least a year.

Donna asks…
What types of businesses can I start up with a Marketing degree?
I am currently majoring in marketing. I inherited a lot of cash and I am investing it so when I am ready to establish my own business, I have a good capital. I was thinking of opening up an advertising agency because they make good revenue also with market research skills would it be beneficial in picking out stocks because with the market research I am more likely to know what type of companies will make money.

Jere answers:
Good to hear that you are a marketing graduate. Here is what I can suggest to you. Internet marketing is very in demand today and I supposed you already know more about it. For more information visit the website http://bit.ly/lzvs08-ya and there you will have a free membership and you are ready to earn income after that.

Your Questions About The Real Biz

Michael asks…
What should I do with my knowledge?
I have an Associates Degree in Business Management and I will finish my Bachelors in Business this coming May. I have had limited “real world” experience. I have been an assistant manager at a Pizza place, a Inventory Control Manager/Daily Supervisor/Merchandiser at a Chain Fabric Store (JoAnns), and Accounts Recieveable accountant, and currently I am a Freelance Childrens Clothing Designer (I do this out of my home). My skills include PC and Mac computers, Sewing, Pattern Drafting,Fabric knowledge, 10 Key, Opening/Closing of a retail business, ordering, inventory, supervising, scheduling, merchanding, directing, Daily/Weekly/Monthly accounting books…the list goes on. I guess my question comes down to, what should I do with my life……what does my education and skills together lead you to believe what I should be?

Jere answers:
I’ve become a real Project Runway fanatic. I wish I had some of the skills you have – I would love to be in the fashion biz. So my suggestion is . . . The fashion biz. Designer, merchandizer, retail shop owner/manager/buyer etc. Google fashion careers and see what’s out there.

Carol asks…
Does anyone reallt think Rihanna is really talented?
I dunno maybe because I see real talented women like Beyonce who could actually dance and sing and actually put on a live performance it makes no sense to me that Rihanna is just as famous as Beyonce with only a small fraction of the talent I mean dont get me wrong I would not put Rihanna in the JLO category in terms of being famous for being attractive category but she still sucks.

Jere answers:
She can’t dance or preform worth a crap, which is a huge aspect of the biz that she’s in. She is however a pretty good singer, very good looking, and has some pretty decent songs out.

Robert asks…
Catchy hiphop songs that are fun to rap along with?
I’m looking for hip hop and rap songs from any era that are just upbeat, catchy, have a good beat, good for a party. That sort of thing. I’m thinking songs like Just A Friend by Biz Markie or really just anything that is catchy. Appreciate any help.

Jere answers:
Today was a good day – ice cube
real muthaphukkin g’s – eazy e
gin and juice – snoop dogg

Mary asks…
Is there any real legitament work from home buisnesses? ?
I’ve been seaching around and alot of these work from home buisness look like scams to me and I’m sure the mojority of them are, but their has to be atleast a couple that are legitament right? I’ve heard about it on the news and read some online statments, could anyone help me out with a link…..? I’m just caution about my money as is alot us out here.

Jere answers:
I don’t believe in quick money either. I reckon put 5-6 years if you want a legit online biz. There are a couple of careers in IT where you can work remote. I did quite a bit of work from home even working in finance. You can log on from home into the work network very easily these days.

Sandy asks…
how do i start making money on a webcam?
i have a webcam and a paypal account. I want to independently make some money once in a while real quick. Does anyone know the legalities of this type of biz so im not breaking the LAW?

Jere answers:
Well, if you want take payments for any sort of adult site, paypal is NOT the way to go. They are notorious for deleting accounts of adult webmasters and they reserve the right to keep all monies on file and they will fine you hundreds on top of that. They are great for a mainstream web store or taking payments for basic things, but they strictly prohibit adult businesses from using their services. It’s all in the fine print. If you need to take payments on your own, you can use epassporte.com or something else like that.
As far as making money on your webcam right away, without the hassle of worrying about how to accept payments, you can just sign up with a cam company who will take care of all the billing. As long as you are 18+ there is nothing illegal about it. I work on these two sites and it’s really cool:
http://imlive.com/vippath.asp?host=y&hnumber=303695
http://models.streamray.com/friend/NatashaSin
They pay every 2 weeks on time.
Once you sign up with those sites, you can work as much or as little as you like, whenever you want. I have more info about becoming a webcam model on my blog I just started at http://www.camgirltips.com
I hope that helps, good luck 🙂

Your Questions About Email Marketing Software

Sandy asks…
how do you go about getting starting affiliate marketing?
I want to know where is a good site to go to learn about affiliate marketing for free, any start up costs, a good site to obtain the affiliate marketing software, and whatever else to expect or anything helpful. I will most certainly award 10 points for the best answer.

Jere answers:
I read the other posts as of today June 12, 2008…..let me share a few pointers about the other posts……1. They obviously are not successful affiliate marketers. 2. They don’t hit the nail on the head.
Now let me advise I have been doing affiliate marketing for a few years….I own multiple monetized websites and continue doing the research to keep up with the Web Consortiums.
I am also a webmaster with my own webdesign and webhosting company. I love affiliate marketing.
The purpose of any affiliate marketer is to “pre-sell” an already existing product or service….it can be a digital or physical product too..but there are secrets to learning the skills to being a successful affiliate marketer.
If you are just looking into affiliate marketing as a hobby?……you’re in for a big surprise….a long hard winding road of trials and tribulations with massive learning curves.
I’m into affiliate marketing for the cash….I don’t give a krap if I promote purple rain or doggie doo-doo…I certainly don’t try to “pre-sell” my interests or hobbies unless there is a tremendous demand for the information or products….
You must have a website, a autoresponder service, a lead capture system, web tools to find high demand high search es on the net…..you’ll be looking for “What’s Hot and What’s Not”…then you need some other tools like tracking, analytics, split testing, merchant account and a few others too.
In addition, you must have the knowledge to drive massive traffic to your landing page or lead capture sales page and build your list of permission based double opt in leads.
You’ll need the autoresponder system set up with a series of automated outgoing emails in a sequence building trust by providing unique quality content with the funnel process to end into a conversion sale.
You must give serious thought to your copywriting skills so you can not only move the free line, but also give perks along the way to educate your prospects. Give and you shall recieve.
The principle is a wash, rinse and repeat process no matter what hot market demand you do……but you must always include compelling offers and ethical bribes that force a timely return on your investment…..you do that with basic math on determining the time it takes you to package a campaign launch for the pre-sell and what you believe you are worth an hour.
A good clue to you is a lead captured through your permission based opt in is about $1 per lead a month
In other words, the more leads, as they grow in size and the longer you continue building a relationship with these prospects and clients….it’s cummulative……it grows and if you crunch the numbers…..you build a list of quality relationships of 10,000 you can project a return on a product launch of your own design .like a digital delivery product on ” how to do something”…..you broadcast a pre launch for building excitement and announcement with a lead sign up …you can expect by general rule of thumb about $10,000 ….
That dosn’t include back end extras, upselling, or other monetized methods for affialiate marketing….
In Summary;
1. Determine a Hot Market
2. Search for a relative web domain name
3. Register that domain name
4. Find a web hosting company to repoint your DNS
5. Research competitors and websites in that market
6. Sketch out a website better than your competitors
7. Acquire a Web Building Software
8. Acquire an FTP uploader
9. Acquire an professional autoresponder service
10. Acquire your analytics and tracking programs
11. Build your 1st website with tables, HTML and Content
12. Sign up and submit releases for article submissions
13. Sign up for Search engine submission
14. Build, upload and test your website for function
15. Write, upload and test your responder sequencer
16. Learn and implement advance CSS coding
17. Register for adsense to monetize your website
18. Register for Alexa and W3C certification
19. Draft your Disclaimers, Terms of Service and Site map
20. Launch
These are just the baby steps….but you can get by using this same concept in any Hot market if you wish with the wash rinse repeat concept, however, you’ll find this to be limiting your income…..so once you master the basics, and have proven conversions in sales generating….move on to other more advanced methods…..
One last point….the idea is to build multiple websites in many hot markets….like a series of different car dealerships or restaurants..catering to large variety of market demands
This will then become an empire and you can literally print cash at will in your jammies behind your computer and only doing it a few hours a week….once you’re good at your job.

Your Questions About Business Online San Diego

Mark asks…
What Do I Need to Get a Business License?
I’m running a small artist representation business dealing primarily online and via phone, so there’s no physical location for the business (office building, etc) for the time being, but I do reside in San Diego, California, and my question is, WHAT do I need to get a business license in this area? Documents, numbers, etc? I’d like a complete list, please and thank you, and if there’s anything I might need besides a business license that’d be appreciated too!

Jere answers:
Every business needs one or more federal, state or local licenses or permits to operate. Licenses can range from a basic operating license to very specific permits. Regulations vary by industry, state and locality, so it’s very important to understand the licensing rules where your business is located. Not complying with licensing and permitting regulations can lead to expensive fines and put your business at serious risk.
To get your business licence, you have to inform about your business product and area of business according the roll of your state.

Susan asks…
What kind of business can i start in california with 20,000 dollars?
I just saved that amount of money and i plan on moving to california. I plan on moving to san diego. what kind of business i can start with 20,000 dollars in california well in san diego? What do you recommend i should do?

Jere answers:
I have owned businesses online and offline in California. Start with something that you love
because initially you will need to do most of the work. There are a lot of tourist in San Diego this may be a good group to market to since they are usually willing to pay more than the locals.
I opened an online adult webcam business with no money. Here is the link:

I have literally spent hundreds of thousands of dollars offline but wish I had just started out online.
Hope this helps…

Sharon asks…
Can anyone recommend a good laser eye surgeon in San Diego?
I am trying to choose a laser eye surgeon in San Diego and have discovered that everyone and their brother is doing laser eye surgery! Can anyone recommend a good laser eye surgeon? How about one to avoid?? Thanks!

Jere answers:
How about this. Go to maloneyvision.com Dr. Maloney is in the top 10 surgeons that do refractive surgery in the US. He conducts trials for the FDA. He is the Dr. On the makeover shows. Plus, he is a NICE MAN! (I do NOT work for him, BTW) His best selling book is available to read online FREE and it tells you how to find a good doctor in your area, what questions to ask, how to check out their credentials and all that stuff! Oh, yeah, and plus if you contact them they will refer you to a good one there where you are as well. OR, you can drive a little ways up north and see him in Los Angeles. He is the top in So. CA. I have met him twice and toured his facility once. His people and his business are very very nice and he will not do surgery on you if you do not meet the basic requirements that your eyes should to continue on to have surgery. He does tell people, “NO! You should not do this!” when other doctors will cut! He also fixes the problems that other places cause. We have many of his patients in our office for before and after care, and also to do contacts and glasses for the ones he can not see. We are almost an hour and a half away, and people in our area go down to him all the time, so we are exposed to him quite often. Go check them out! You will be amazed what you can learn from his web site. Good luck!

Daniel asks…
Is it a good idea to start flipping paintballs from my home?
I was thinking of buying paintballs in bulk online, and then selling them to people locally. Paintballs are $45 dollars for a 2000count box of the lowest quality. I would like to know if it’s possible to buy straight from a manufacturer of cheap paintballs and if there are any locally in SoCal. I used to be able to pick up the same box for $20. I need to know as many paintball manufacturers as possible (prefferably local to San Diego to keep shipping costs down). If paintballs aren’t a good idea throw me something better.

Jere answers:
Basically anything you can get at wholesale prices you can make a profit off of, presuming there is a market for it. However, some wholesalers require a reseller permit which comes with a business license, so you need to apply for both. Of course a business license means you get UBI and FEIN numbers, and the government asks that you pay tax on your hard-earned money. This is why internet business are the best option for individuals. However, a bill has been proposed to collect tax made on internet purchases that would require the seller to send that tax to the area the buyer is from. You can still do an under-the-table job on your own, so it’s really up to you how much you want to try to earn, because more money means more bureaucracy.

Nancy asks…
where can i get a quadricycle in san diego?
I want to buy a quadricylce in San Diego, because I saw one at Madison High School, and The ROTC captain was riding it. Unfortunately, that was before I left, and can’t ask where he got it.

Jere answers:
Three was one dealer in your area. But he must have gone out of business because i can’t find anything on him anymore. You may have to order one online. Some manufacturers make a kit that you can put together. Good luck.

Betty asks…
PLAY WITH HAIR .COM HORRIBLE mean Lying people in Australia How to file a complaint?
Here is the United States we have zelp and the better business bureau to complain about people running dishonest businesses so the public can be pre warned. In Australia is there also a place you can post about a business ONLINE business. They are in Perth, Australia. I speak French and was laughed at about my language, and then lied to about the wig they sold for $400.00 I found in China for only $40.00, not to mention being called names about me in a picture kissing my bf and called duck face, I am so appalled of their behavior I want people to beware and complain. Careful girls they sell plastic wigs for cheap and lie that they are the only ones who have them, liars, and horrible people.

Chris asks…
How do online jewelry stores get their inventory?
I’m thinking of starting one. Do they get it from China? How do they know how much to buy? What sets their product apart from shops with identical items?

Jere answers:
Hi,
I am a business owner myself and have my own (online) shop (shopabargain.com)
You can indeed buy jewelry from China, but there are many more market places.
Here are a few:
Local artist. (There are a lot of people who make jewelry at home. Sometimes they place ads on craigslist, or similar website’s. Ask them if you can buy or sell for them)
Whole sale sellers (online) Jus type in google Wholesale Jewelry and you get plenty hits.
To answer your other question “How do they know how much to buy?”
That is depending from your experience. After a while you know what is selling and what not. What I always do is try it out first with a few items, and then buy more if it is working.
Hope this helps you. Good luck with starting your business.

Lizzie asks…

Joseph asks…
When you go on a business trip to China, do you hire an interpreter? How do you find an interpreter?
I am an English-Chinese interpreter/translator in Hangzhou,China so I think your answer can help me do a better job. Thank you!
I want to expand my business.
Before I become an interpreter, I also work in several international trade companies so I can say I have experiences in many industries. So far I have accompanied my clients to companies and factories in medical apparatus, fabrics, bicycles, camera, plastic machinery, etc. No problem so far.

Jere answers:
Usually, most companies in China have their own “foreign” accounts specialists who can accommodate foreign inquiries and such. They would usually exchange and answer emails in English.
There are many individual interpreters (you can make a search online) with specific industry specialization e.g. Clothing/garments, electrical, chemical, mechanical/machineries, construction, etc. The industry specialization is important because there are some technical terms wherein they have the experience and knowledge to relay the key information to you. They usually post their names, email, contact information, and brief description of their interpretation experience. You may email them regarding their location, and availability, as well as price.
In my opinion, interpreters / translators must have experience in a particular industry with many foreign buyers / traders to gain technical knowledge.

Your Questions About Direct Marketing Association

Mary asks…
How to identify target prospects for a consultancy?
Hi there, I work as an intern for a consultancy that deals with digital engagement in the health/pharmaceutical sector. The company offers campaign management, digital media coaching and so forth. I have been asked to identify and describe possible target prospects. So far, I have come up with marketing professionals and senior executives within pharma companies. Can you tell me what other prospects I could describe, and how specific this should be? Thanks.

Jere answers:
IDEA: Turn to the monthly directories of Standard Rate and Data Services (“SRDS”). These fat directories — available at every business library and advertising agency — perhaps even in your own consultancy — list by area the media — print, mail, email, TV and radio, even posters — used by every sector. It’s the leadingprovider of ad prices and related data. Thus, if you were looking for health/pharmaceutical people, all you need do is turn to “Health/Pharmaceutical” and you would find: 1) all professional and trade journals aimed at this sector; 2) listings of mailing lists of health/pharmaceutical workers. Then you all you to do is copy down the titles of possible target prospects. For instance, a trade journal has to list by title every subscriber. In health/pharma titles would include physician, hospital administrator, HMOs, alternative medicine practitioners, researcher, etc. (the breakdown is much, more elaborate than this, of course.) Another excellent source if the Directory of Associations. Here, membership in EVERY association is broken down by title. Simply go to the Health/Phrama/Medicine/Hospital categories and start copying down relevant prospects’ titles.
A list of about 20 titles PLUS sources would let you be the hero of this assignment.
An excellent free source of how to use lists in general is the Direct Marketing Creative Generator. This blog (martygrossdm.blogspot.dm) has a lot of ideas on marketing to specific lists. It’s written by a university professor and direct marketing creative director.

Sandra asks…
Where is a reliable place to buy corporate mailing lists?
Where is a reliable place to buy corporate mailing lists? I am in Toronto Canada and I am looking for a list of mid to large size firms to submit them some advertising offers. Specifically, I want the mailing addresses of people who are in charge of marketing in these firms. I see that there are so many mailing list sellers online, and I don’t which one to choose. Does anyone have recommendations? Thanks

Jere answers:
You are probably better off creating an account with LinkedIn or Hoover. This way you can target your direct market by company and business association.

Lisa asks…
How much should a 24 years old make (salary)?
I’ve been working for a year now. I graduated with a marketing major. How much should a 24 be making with a marketing major? I am working in print production but looking for somthing in marketing field.

Jere answers:
Salary is based on
education
field of employment
experience/job performance
job market/demand
economic conditions
financial strength of the employer
really hard to give you a ball park figure with so many variables
Salary levels vary substantially, depending upon the level of managerial responsibility, length of service, education, size of firm, location, and industry. For example, manufacturing firms usually pay these managers higher salaries than nonmanufacturing firms. For sales managers, the size of their sales territory is another important determinant of salary. Many managers earn bonuses equal to 10 percent or more of their salaries.
According to a survey by the National Association of Colleges and Employers, starting salaries for marketing majors graduating in 2007 averaged $40,161 and those for advertising majors averaged $33,831.
Related Occupations:
Advertising, marketing, promotions, public relations, and sales managers direct the sale of products and services offered by their firms and the communication of information about their firms’ activities. Other workers involved with advertising, marketing, promotions, public relations, and sales include actors, producers, and directors; advertising sales agents; artists and related workers; demonstrators, product promoters, and models; market and survey researchers; public relations specialists; sales representatives, wholesale and manufacturing; and writers

William asks…
What is the best way to start a jewelry business which I can sell at house parties?
Has anybody ever has a business like Tupperware or MaryKay? How do you organize the parties? What do you offer to the host/hostess of the party to compensate them for the use of thier home? How do you market and/or advertise the party?
Thank you

Jere answers:
There are several options for home jewelry parties. The best of them pay the hostess benefits so your profit is solely your profit. When I was researching which jewelry company to go with I looked for:
– initial start up costs
– monthly fees (if any)
– inventory requirements
– incentives for team building and minimums for overrides (the money you make off your team)
– host(ess) incentives and who pays for them
– credit card processing and who pays the fees
– who pays state sales tax
Finally, check and see if the company you are looking at is part of the direct selling association.
I’m a lia sophia advisor and can tell you that lia sophia offers incredible hostess benefits that make it easy to get hostesses to book parties. The hostess can get up to 40% of the sales from her party in jewelry plus great discounts on personal jewelry purchases. And again, the company pays that benefit so the advisor has little out of pocket expense.
The hostess does most of the marketing for her party at work, schools, church etc using flyers/postcards you create as well as electronic invites.
I market my business at local job fairs, craft shows etc.
Drop me a line if you’d like to learn more.

Ken asks…
How Do I Get My Book Published?
I wrote a story that would be about 300 pages in paperback book form. I know I need to get an agent but how do I do this? I don’t want to go through the trouble if it isn’t legit. Can someone direct me to where I can find one please?

Jere answers:
My first suggestion would be, while you’re searching for an agent, keep writing. Write short stories and send them to literary magazines. Your best bet at getting something published is by submitting to several of the literary magazines put out by everything from stand-alone companies to universities. Even a small credit (and most of them are small credits–they’ll pay you in contributor copies) is a credit that can help you get noticed.
Work on your platform. Do you have a blog? Write on it. Do you tweet? Start tweeting if you don’t? Facebook? Talk up your book. A platform is huge these days in the publishing industry. Who do you think an agent or publisher will be quick to represent? A person who has written one book, or a person who has written one book, but who also has 1700 followers on Twitter, 600 people who follow her blog, and 2000 Facebook friends who will all eat up a little piece of marketing put out by them? There are several great resources out there for building your platform. I’ll list some below.
Also, make sure your novel is strong and that it’s polished. Polish your story, your query, your sample chapters, and even your name on the title page until it’s sparkly enough to star in a Mr. Clean commercial. But that’s a given anyway.
Here’s a good resource to get some ideas on where to start:
– Nathan Bransford blogs about finding agents, writing, and the publishing business. Http://blog.nathanbransford.com/2008/04/how-to-find-literary-agent.html
– New Pages is a great place to find literary magazines to both read and to consider sending your work to so you can build a platform. They review literary magazines and give addresses where to send your writing, editors names, etc.: http://www.newpages.com/
– CRWROPPS – I’m not sure what it stands for, but it’s a listserv that comes to your email box every day with publishing opportunities (and university job opportunities if you have an MFA) – http://groups.yahoo.com/group/CRWROPPS-B/
– AWP – The Association of Writers and Writing Programs – If you can join it, join up. This is your contact organization as a writer. If you live close to Boston or can be in Boston, the yearly conference is being hosted there this year. Go if you can. It’s a fantastic place to meet fellow writers, hear some great people speak (Margaret Atwood spoke at the conference in Chicago last year, and I’ll admit, she was kind of my rock star moment when I had her sign my copy of Cat’s Eye). At the conference last year, I was able to hear some of my favorite writers speak on the panels. – https://www.awpwriter.org/
Finally, get to know the publishing industry. A good book for that is The Merchants of Culture by John B. Thompson – http://www.polity.co.uk/book.asp?ref=9780745647869 . If you’re going to get into the publishing industry, then you need to know the lay of the land. This book will help you understand it better.
Best of luck to you! And keep writing!
Edit: Oh, and for platform building, here are a couple of books/sites to look at:
– Booklife – http://www.booklifenow.com/ – I met this author at AWP last year, and I bought his book on platform building then. He’s a great guy, and the book was very helpful!
– Here’s a new book put out by Writer’s Digest about platform building – http://www.writersdigestshop.com/create-your-writer-platform
Also, Writer’s Digest puts out yearly market guides:
For Literary Agents: http://www.writersdigestshop.com/2013-guide-literary-agents
For Short Stories and Novels: http://www.writersdigestshop.com/novel-short-story-writers-market-2013

Your Questions About How To Do Business Cards Online

Sharon asks…
Who has the best business card printing?
I need some business cards, and I’ve seen a lot of business card print shops online, but I don’t really know who to pick. I want some thick business cards, with good printing. Can anyone give me suggestions? Thanks.

Jere answers:
With four years of printing experience under my belt, I know what is and isn’t a good deal when it comes to printing. For my 10 favorite print shops, go to this website:
http://listmaniac.blogspot.com/2010/12/10-best-business-card-printing.html
This will show you who offers the best business card printing with the thickest paper, so your business cards won’t fall apart in your pocket. Also, giving a thick business card to any prospective client will really show them that you mean business.

How can I make money with a fresh start in Mary Kay without inventory?

I would suggest ordering your business cards at a Office Depot or Staples. Both stores have personalized print stations and specialize in high quality professional business cards at low prices. Your Questions About Business Online Services

Paul asks…
What is the best way to promote your products and services online?
I’m new to advertising online.
I understand that nowadays more and more people are moving online to look for products and services
I recently just took over my dad’s apparel business selling formal men fashion and looking to expand online hopefully in search of more customers.
I got a friend to create an online store to display our products. My friend told me that i can either look for an SEO company or do my own SEO campaigns online.
I’ve been looking for a couple of weeks and have met with some SEO companies who i think got my contact off my website.
My friend have advised me to make careful selections before deciding on an SEO company.
He also said that while i’m still in the midst of looking for a good SEO company, perhaps i can do my own advertising and campaigns for my products and services first.
Wonder if anyone has been in the sort of situation and have manage to achieve some sort of success in advertising their businesses online. What did you all do and how did you get your customers online?
Did you all post on classified ads website? Marketplaces like ebay and Alibaba? Advertise on google? Post ad videos on youtube/vimeo?
Perhaps some insights would be good for my reference.
Thanks for the help guys.

Jere answers:
Firstly, do understand that doing marketing and advertising online is not as simple and easy as it look. Despite saying that, the internet is a great place for people to look for what they need and require, be it for personal or business purposes. Over the years, the internet has become a fast and efficient way to look for products or services and networking with customers out of your normal social circle. Especially, with the current incorporation of search engines, it has been even easier to search for what you need online.
It can take a lot of time and effort and results might be mini-scale in the short-run. But that also helps define and filter out the sort of hit-and run businesses to businesses that are truly genuine in providing value to their customers. So be mentally prepared for it but the results will be good in the long run if you can continue sustaining your business.
Personally, I will recommend doing your own SEO campaigns yourself and not outsource them to the “experts”. You know best what your own business requires and who your target market is. You and only you yourself will be concern with the “how is my business doing?” question and not these SEO companies. I’ve been to too many to be afraid to hire another.
That being said, SEO can be a really tiring job or topic to handle for most online businesses and outsourcing might not be such a bad idea after all if you do not have the time to do it yourself and have the money to spend for these jobs. If you are looking to outsource, my recommendations is to look for the best companies with an impressive track-record of satisfying clients and not one which doesn’t. I’ld rather pay more to get the results than to pay for something of lesser quality which doesn’t achieve what i’m trying to achieve.
If you are thinking of doing your own SEO campaigns online, the following are some of the methods you can try to take for a new business online.
1) Classified ads Posting – There are quite a number of good quality classified ads websites out there with good quality traffic that can help to advertise your products and reach the masses. Websites like craigslist.com, classifiedads4free.com, locanto, gumtree are places where you can start.
Spamming is never a good idea. Find some of the more reputable ones as mentioned in the above paragraph and spent some time thinking about good quality content on these ad pages. Try not to duplicate post. Think about unique content and titles to post to achieve high reliability for your ads on search engines. They can help in boosting your businesses if you have an attractive title and great sales pitch to attract the right customers to your ad pages.
2) If you are dealing with products, selling on marketplaces like ebay and alibaba can be a great place to start for achieving another source of sales.
3) Video marketing can be another great way to advertise to the masses. Creating video introductions about your latest products or services or a simple introduction about your business can have incredible results. It need not be a very sophisticated video. Something simple with a couple of photos in it that helps explain what your message is can be more than sufficient to gain the results and attention required.
Some classified ads portal even provide you with the ability to link video urls to your classified ads. Do not waste these opportunities. It will make your ad look even better and expose your videos to more people all around the world.
Of course, if your video actually turns viral and everyone goes sharing around in facebook and twitter, that would then be a huge bonus.
Besides the above mentioned couple of ways, of course! There are still lots of other ways to market your products and advertise your new site. But since you just started, i do not want to confuse you. Perhaps starting with the above few points can get you started and keep you busy for at least the next couple of weeks.
The above are some of the more effective methods if you can fully utilize each of their potential. Do spend some time digesting what i’ve said above. They’ve worked for me and hopefully will work for you as well.
If there is any problems or any more knowledge you would like to know, feel free to contact pm me and i’ll try to help.

Richard asks…
Iam from chennai iam going to start a online business which involves premium service.?
Iam from chennai iam going to start a online business which involves premium service. how do i start the business ? where should i register my online company since it involves premium service.
For example : selling accessories in my own website.
Please help me with the checklist and steps involved in registering my company.

Jere answers:
You don’t need anything to start an online business other than a domain and a website.
That being said you _do_ need to follow your local laws, tax codes, import exports, and any other business guidelines set out by your government.
I would check into what is needed to start a brick and mortar store as a starting point for the bulk of the legalities, then get into the specifics of online business laws and regulations.

Linda asks…
How long until I get my tax refunds from provincial and federal government ( canada)?
My taxes were JUST filed by someone through Efile, or whatever that online service is called, so its sent directly to the provincial and federal governments. How long till I get my refund? I have direct deposite.

Jere answers:
Its typically 8-10 business days on an efile with direct deposit.

Joseph asks…
Will there be fees to form a non-profit organization with out of state members?
I know how much it costs to file to form a non-profit LLC in my state, but if some of the members are out of state, will we run into additional fees?
We will be conducting most of our business online; fundraising, and selling tickets for an event.
None of the members will be paid for their time or services.

Jere answers:
I deal with every state in the country, and I can assure you that out of state members will not effect the price of the filing fee of your Nonprofit Articles of Incorporation. Every jurisdiction has a set filing fee for their nonprofit articles that doesn’t vary for any reason.
Be sure to do your homework and research relating to the operation of a nonprofit organization. Depending on the type, (mutual benefit or public benefit) nonprofits can be more complicated than profit corporations. A good place to begin your research would be the corporation division’s website of the secretary of state, wherever you are going to operate.
Good luck.

Your Questions About Internet Business Ideas

Mary asks…
What are some of the legal aspects needed to know when starting a webpage /Internet Business?
Does anyone know if any basic legal issues that may come up when creating a new Internet business from a website? Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks!

Jere answers:
The only advice that I can think of is… Whatever you state, it has to be the truth, try not to ever write anything bad about anyone unless you can prove it in court
make sure that if you are going to publish something “special”, like…. Porn… Your hosting service, will allow it.
Every time you use someone else’s services, like maps or dictionaries, give them their proper credit.

Maria asks…
How old do you have to be to be able to start an online internet business?
I have an idea about an internet business

Jere answers:
As long as you have a bank account it really doesn’t matter how old you are, there are no age restrictions when you start a online business.

Lizzie asks…
How can I find some quick (and easy) tips on creating my own website? Writing HTML code?
I want my own home-based internet business. Any ideas would be appreciated. I don’t want any MLM or pyramid scams, nor do I want anything that requires me to “become a member”, etc. I want to create my website, sell a product/service, make money (legit money).

Jere answers:
Hi,
Nice day to you.
I’ll divide my answers into few section. Wish this answers can give you some reveals how to start your own online business and bring you to success.
Answer 1
Do you have any ideas in what kind of products or services you are going to sell for your online business?
My suggestion is, find somethings you are really interesting with it and you can pay fully passion with it. Otherwise you will give up very very soon. Many successful internet millionaires start their online business with their own interest.
Example
-Sport website – they love football, NBA, Formula One, etc.
-Travelling hot spots website – they love travelling.
-Food recipe website – they love cooking.
-Entertainment website – they love music, movies, idols.
-Pets website – they love animals.
-Loves website – they are experts in dating.
And many more.
Start today, think what you are really interesting in?
Answer 2
Make sure the products or services you are going to sell with an existing huge market. Do the market research before you start your business. A business won’t make money even he has a perfect product or service but there are no market require for that product or service.
There are many low cost online softwares can help you to determine whether your business with an existing hungry market or not.
Answer 3
Create a website. There are many online experts can help you to build up a business website just within 1-2 weeks time. You no need to know anything about web design or programming.
Just let them know what kind of business you wish to start up, they will help you to create all the business features and tools on your website and make it looks professional.
Answer 4
Now you have a best product to sell but your business still can not earn money if you don’t have a good marketing strategy. Takes a look at McDonald. McDonald is not selling the best burger in the world, but he own the most franchises all around the world. His successful secret is applying an excellent strategy into his business but not selling the best burger in the world.Get the online supporting team to consult your business step by step to success.
Wish this opinions can help you.
Wishing you success.
P.s : I have to make my explanation in short summarize here. Sorry for any inconvenience caused. If you be willing, you can read my real story and experience in how do I start my own internet home business and use it to earn money for me. Feel free to email me a blank mail with the subject “Real Story”. I will share the story with you. Chriswwy789@yahoo.com
Kindest Regards,
Chris.

Carol asks…
Does it take much money to start up an internet business?
Do you need to have a lot of money on hand to start up an active internet business or is having the good idea the main thing? How do you get started?
I think I have an innovative idea for a new internet company but I don’t know to much about how to go about actually doing it yet.

Jere answers:
Great question! It’s one that puzzle a lot of people on the net.
Starting an Internet marketing business is one of the lowest entry price point businesses you can start. Lets think for a moment.
If you started a small franchised. Your minimum cost would fall in the range of 15k-25k. Lets say you started a middle to large franchise, you are looking at at least 75k- 350k and up.
Lets look at starting an Internet marketing business. At bare minimum you need an domain name, and hosting account. You could obtain a domain name from godaddy.com for about $15 bucks a year. You could get your hosting from hostgator.com for about $10 bucks a month.
Now the last part of this puzzle involve getting knowledge about Internet marketing. You could get free information from doing a search on google.com. However I’ll tell you not all free information is worthy information.
You could also invest a small amount in a proven guide. One that will give you a good starting point with proven methods for success. I used this guide http://internetmarketingnewbieguide.com … Which helped me achieved the level of success that I was able to build on.
One last bit of advice. You will find different information, which in all practically terms work. However, it will only work if you put it action.
Hope this all helped.
To your success,

Michael asks…
How can I make my internet business a success?
I am thinking about starting up an internet business making and selling handmade cards – birthday, wedding, sympathy etc. I know there are a million and one other people doing this kind of thing, so how should I go about getting my site on the first page of a search engine? I have absolutely no idea about web design but am willing to learn. I’ve tried selling on Ebay but would like my own site as I begrudge paying Ebay so much in fees!! Oh and btw I live in the UK if this makes a difference, although I would be happy to mail my products all over the world.

Jere answers:
The key thing is finding the words that people will use to find your products.
If you choose the wrong words people will not find your site.
Once on site the, information needs to be easy to read, clear type and clean uncluttered backgrounds.
Use a digital camera to take photos and keep taking pictures of each item, until you are sure the pictures are in focus and show every detail. Make sure the background to each picture enhances the product.
When you are satisfied invite someone who is not computer literate to use the site. Listen to their problems and concerns change and improve.

James asks…
How to start an Internet Marketing business?
I seriously want to start an Internet Marketing company and be my own boss. I want to do Marketing, PR, and Advertising for entertainment, lifestyle, and travel/luxury. I need real serious advice on how to start a business and ring in clients and keep them. I just started Full Sail University but with them I’m losing my inspiration so I want to branch out and build an empire. If your also looking to do what I’m aspiring to do then lets connect and network together 🙂

Jere answers:
You need to develop your business plan even before starting an internet marketing business. You need to know how you are planning to promote the products that you are considering. Research if there is market demand for the products you wish to promote. Determine if promoting these products will be a profitable option for you. Research and visualize all of these things before making a final determination on any type of internet marketing business to start.

David asks…
What are the best third-party companies to provide advertising for your website?
What are the best third-party Internet marketing companies that provide advertising clients to websites? Say if I have a million views/month on my webpage, what are the companies I should look for to provide me clients to advertise on my website? I am talking about service provdiers such as AdSense. Thanks a bunch.

Jere answers:
I couldn’t find my reference list, but here are a coupe of lists of advertising networks found on the net

Richard asks…
I need a complete Internet Marketing package?
I’m looking for an internet marketing company in or around Indianapolis, IN to help my small business get its name out there. Any suggestions would be great. Thank you.

Jere answers:
What have helped me is site source 101. It worked really great in driving traffic to my site and leveraging pr.

Chris asks…
Should I join my friend doing network marketing?
My friend recently bought a business, and he wants to know if I want to join. It is an internet network marketing company with a mass customization and one to one marketing basis. They are partnered with over 1000 partners like walmart, target and best buy. The company has 57 consecutive quarters of growth. There are about 200,000 people involved and it is still growing. Start up cost is $700. What do you guys think? I’m new to this, I don’t really know how network marketing work, but this kid is a very smart kid, and I know he will be successful someday.

Jere answers:
My experience is If there is pressure to join, what, are you going to find out that will make you not want to be a part later? If so then waiting is wise either way. If there is nothing to be afraid of, then take your time and wait to invest such a large sum. Spend your time investigating your options and success of this company and others, do it without a commitment or investment. The right company will show it’s true colors and be there for you even if you don’t choose to invest right now. Because if they are what they say they are then they have alot of room to grow and or they aren’t going to fold with your money invested tomorrow. Do your homework and take your time to figure out what is right for you. What is right for your friend may not be the right thing for you.

Your Questions About How To Do Business Online For Free

Daniel asks…
Are there any websites that i can ADVERTISE my small business for free online?
i just started a small business and want to advertise my business online for free and have it actually SHOW UP on a search engine like YAHOO.
are there any WEBSITES you’d recommend that I try advertising in that are free.? any suggestions?
thanks

Jere answers:
How you advertise it online depends on what kind of business it is. If your small business happens on a local level – say landscaping, hair salon, cakes – then http://craigslist.org if for you. Select the location then advertise there.
If it is more of a national or international business the advertising mix is much different. You can still advertise on as many craigslist sites as you want for free. But…you can also write an article and submit it to press release sites like http://prweb.com Writing a blog about your product, and adding to it daily, will also help in search engine rankings (of the blog, not your business web site). Just keep mentioning your business web address in the blog. Further you can submit posts to other blogs. Also, try learning about search engine optimization (SEO) and tweek your site for better search engine results. You can learn a lot from http://searchenginewatch.com Also, with the article yyou wrote you can submit it to places that publish articles online.

A nice short answer for you…
Google Adwords Local Business Center
Yahoo! Local Listings
AOL Get Local
MSN Near Me Free listing
Verizon Superpages Free listing
CitySearch (data on this site feeds Ask.com and Live)
Yelp (data on this site feeds Live and Yahoo)
But at least take the time to learn best-practices on how to submit to these before doing it.

i just started a small business and want to advertise my business online for free and have it actually SHOW UP on a search engine like GOOGLE.
is there any websites you’d recommend that I try.? any suggestions?

Jere answers:
Our business websites show up on GOOGLE, at or near the top. There are several things that you can do. One is to put the service or product that you are providing in your site’s title. Our business has to do with photography – so we put that in the title”Photographer in Half Moon Bay, CA.”. Localizing it (stating where your business is) is important, otherwise it’ll get lost. Make sure that your website’s first page is not in frames, which confuses the search engines. List your site with DMOZ (Open Directory Project):
http://www.dmoz.org/
in the right category for your business. They will list you with all of the important search engines. Finally, link your website with as many (free)websites as you can, that deal with your business. This is how you get your name at the top of the search engines.

Your Questions About Email Marketing Services

Ken asks…
What is the best way to market my remailing services to Rv’ers and other travelers?
I have started a small, inexpensive remailing service for RV’ers and other travelers, which includes emailing services…what is the best (and inexpensive) way to market my services to this target market?

Jere answers:
Buy ad space on woodalls, Good sam club, Reserve America, Boondocking.com and other magazine and web page places that deal with camping and rv life.

Sandra asks…
How many people advertise their product services?
virally?
how many of you have email campaigns set up to promote your business?
how important do you think online & email marketing is to your online business?

Jere answers:
First, in case some one else wants to answer, I believe you mean virtually, as in cyber-space. I am more than apprehensive about online marketing, and with e-companies using anti-spam policies as marketing of their own, it is much more difficult to attract customers through direct e-mail. There is no reason not to and every reason to, pursue standard advertising practices for an e-business, and save up your money for a big search engine maximization campaign on the net, giving you long time virtual exposure to interested net searchers.

Charles asks…
What is the best way to market a moving and storage comapany? Get leads?
I have a moving company in central Florida, we offer very quality service. I have a lack of business and need some qualified leads, I already advertise and send emails to Realtors as well as faxes to their offices. What do you feel the best way to market my services would be?

Jere answers:
You must offer some kind of incentive to the realtors in order for them to promote your service. It could be gift cards etc. I would strongly recommend that you don’t send any faxes. Fax-spam is very annoying because it costs them paper.
Another important question is if you follow the CAN-SPAM laws in your emails. Also if you are sending your emails through a reputable email software company, whether you send HTML or Plain text emails.
If you do your email marketing the right away, you can possibly get some leads.
Another idea is to hire a freelancer to make cold calls to people who have listed their properties on real estate websites. The problem with this idea is that they will not be moving right away. You need to find people who are moving soon.

William asks…
Is there a way to get visitors to my website today?
I know the long term goals of getting good traffic to a website, but I am curious about ways to get visitors to my site today. Is using email marketing or auto/manual surf any good? What are some services/methods that deliver traffic to your site fast?

Jere answers:
If you want to get fast traffic there are numerous things you can do. Ezinearticles.com has a very high page rank. You can submit a couple articles about your website with certain keywords. You can also join twitter and follow people with similar interests (they should also follow you back) and talk about your website to them. Also, if you run a windows pc, use movie maker (if you have a mac, use iMovie) to make a short video about your site and post it onto the video sharing sites. If you want to learn how to make effective videos, check out my blog…http://videoforim.blogspot.com

How To change a forgotten password on Linux mint 10 Julia.?
So here’s the problem. I bought a tower real cheap on eBay and stupidly bought one with no O.S. My step dad took it to his friends and together they replaced the hard drive with one with an O.S installed in it (Linux mint 10 Julia) obviously there was already an account logged in and a password installed that won’t let me do anything to alter the programming at all. And with no way of obtaining said password I’m at a stand still and need help.
I’ve tried to find solutions online, but can’t seem to find one that works on 10 Julia.
Any help will be apreciated, thanks.

What do you think of the online casino rush in the paste few years?
Hi guys,
Lately I have been monitoring a lot of gambling/casino related websites, like www.bestcasino.biz for example, and I keep asking myself why people gamble or play in casino variations, bet and such. I mean are for so rich as country so we can afford to spend money on the wind? I saw some tasty offers and free bonus money, it might be worth it to claim it and just have fun for free with real money, but when it comes time to deposit your own money, then you should think very careful if you are serious about this or not. What are your opinions do you think an average UK citizen can afford to play casino?

Jere answers:
I take it that you have not been to a real casino (maybe you’re not old enough ) but I visit the casino on average 3 times a week ( for the last 46 years ) and there are people throwing money around as if it’s going out of fashion the next day. I know most of the regulars and it’s amazing the amount of money that is won and lost….The casino I use is Grosvenor, a well established and trusted casino. They have a website but I wouldn’t use it nor would I trust any other gambling website…too easy to use and lose. Finally, may I take this opportunity to warn you of the danger of using betting shop FIXED odds machines. As stated they are FIXED big time……….BE WARNED-DO NOT TOUCH.

PLease Help. I am starting an HVAC job with a company and this is my first job our of school?
I need a full list of tools that I will need for my HVAC job. If there are any HVAC professionals out there please let me know a full break down of the basic tools up to the more involved. Im sure I already have at least 50 % but school is different than a real world job. I want to go purchase tomorrow what I dont have. and if you recommend specific brands like Fluke that would be great.
Im not sure at this point but I think I will be doing both installs and Service
Thanks

Jere answers:
Like the other guy said, I would wait to go to work and let them tell you what you need to supply on your own. Tools are very expensive and you don’t want to purchase something that you don’t need.
Oh, and I would not recommend Fluke. When I first started in the biz, I used Fluke. They are okay for using in classrooms and labs, but the problem with them is that they aren’t great for using in the field. I now only use Fieldpiece for any and all of my measurement needs, including my digital gauges. Fieldpiece was started buy ex-employees of Fluke who wanted to design stuff that was meant to be used in the field, not in a lab.

Your Questions About Direct Marketing Jobs

Linda asks…
How can i move from accounting into marketing?
Hi there,
I have worked in accounting industry for may be 5 years and now thinking to change to marketing– possably marketing communication or strategy? is there any jobs in marketing that similar to accounting? i dont know where to start and hwo to approach it as i dont have experience in this area … any suggestions and advices would be mostly appreciated.thanks.

Jere answers:
Accounting and marketing are synergetic — they can feed off each other very nicely. The form of marketing most accounting people feel at home with is direct marketing. This is a very responsible type of marketing, where numbers and applied statistics rule . Sampling techniques, for instance, are the key to testing new concepts in direct marketing. Database marketing, a major part of direct marketing, is a numbers-crunching process.
Your accounting experience would be invaluable in direct marketing.
You might want to look at a free source of ideas in direct marketing to see what floats your boat in this field. The Direct Marketing Creative Generator at www.word-jobber.blogspot.com comes up with new ideas every Monday. And the enthusiasm is contageous.

Betty asks…
what jobs will be offered if I do a business degree with accounting emphasis?
Does it matter to employers that you have a direct degree in accounting? will they view my degree as an accounting degree? and is it worth it to transfer to another college for a direct degree in accounting, and lose some credits?
thank you but its very important thing to me.

Jere answers:
Accounting is a component of business and is taught with the requirement of the student having a general education of the primary business components: Accounting, finance, business econ, marketing, IT, and organizational behavior.
Therefore, you would take the general business core regardless.. Different schools just call the degree something different. Often it’s a BBA in accounting (Bachelors of Business Admin) or it might be a BS in accounting, but is taught through the b-school.

David asks…
My wife is looking for a home internet business?
She wants something that dosn’t cost an arm and a leg!
Even if all she makes is $100.00 per week she would be happy
It can be direct marketing or network marketing
Please if you know or are in one let her know

Jere answers:
There are two main types of work at home businesses:
The first is Affiliate Marketing, whereby you promote other people’s products and services, and get paid a commission on any sales you generate from your efforts. Take note however, that no reputable company will ever charge you a fee to join their particular program. If anyone charges a fee to join, it’s a scam.
The second is selling your own products (or someone else’s such as would be the case with drop shipping) through marketing venues such as Amazon or eBay. And again, no reputable company will ever charge you a fee to join their particular program.
There are also a number of legitimate work at home jobs, but all those you see advertised online where you have to pay a fee to join, are nothing but scams. You would never get anything for your money.
Legitimate work at home jobs would be in such areas as telemarketing, customer service, collections, website design, graphics work, database entry, script writing, article writing, proof reading, editing, etc., etc., etc. Those jobs will not normally be advertised online other that at well-known and respected job sites or on the company’s own website. Nor will there ever be any fee involved to apply for the job. Nor will there ever be a fee to pay before you start work.
Applying for such a job will be identical to applying for any other job. No one will hire you without first seeing a copy of your resume, or by having you complete their online job application. My advice would be to research every company before you apply to them for a job. Make certain that the company is indeed legit. And above all, know this. If any company ever tries to charge you a fee to apply, before actually starting a job, or at any other time, it is a Scam! No exception!

Helen asks…
What are a variety of difference jobs in the music industry?
Coming into this as someone who is mostly ignorant- a lover of music, who’s been told too many times it makes an irresponsible career choice- I was wondering about the different type of positions in the music industry. I don’t necessarily mean office jobs, but everything from corporate (what type of people usually intern at music records, what career paths are they generally on?) to things that are more in the field like festival promoters. (I know there are some that are a mix of office/field, which is what I’m really interested in.)
Any help/links to more informative sites would be appreciated!

Jere answers:
The list goes on and on from Tour Managers, Merchies, Booking Agents, Promotions Managers, Producers, Artist Representatives, Marketing Directors, Street Teaming, and Publicity to less direct jobs such as Radio DJ’s, Venue Staff, Music Journalists, Music Therapists. Then there are other various jobs like lighting techs, sound techs, & other road crew jobs.
There are really sooo many options and directions you can go with this…I know because it’s something I want to do & be involved in as well. 🙂

Business:
What can you do with a business degree? Plenty! Majoring in business prepares you to work in a variety of settings including business, government, and nonprofit. Most students who graduate with a business degree go to work immediately after graduation in jobs such as:
* Entry-level manager
* Human resources specialist
* Assistant product manager
* Market researcher
* Public relations representative
* Systems analyst
* Securities salesperson
Finance
inancial analysts play an integral role in today’s competitive economy. Since the 1970s, job opportunities in finance and banking have flourished, due to the increasing complexity of investment options. A financial analyst will research a client’s or organization’s financial status, including their history, risk tolerance, and current expenditures and investments. They make recommendations based on financial goals and business environments.
Specializations within the financial analyst trade include budget analyst, credit analyst, investment analyst, merger and acquisition analyst, money market analyst, ratings analyst, risk analyst, tax analyst, treasury analyst and personal financial advisors. There are currently over 230,000 financial analysts and personal financial advisors working in the U.S., making between $29,500 to 55,000 to $107,000 per year, depending on their industry and professional status.
If you work in financial consulting, your main role will be to provide advice on securities pricing, strategies for creating shareholder value, business valuation, economic forecasts and analysis, and input into treasury management.
As a finance manager, you will direct financial reporting, investment activities, and cash management strategies at any number of professional or government organizations. Median salaries in 2002 were about $73,000 with the top 10% earning over $142,000. Financial management calls on your creative thinking and your ability to see the broad business picture and then direct your team accordingly.
There is a tremendous range of opportunities in commercial banking. While the banking sector continues to consolidate, more people are employed in commercial banking than any other part of the financial services industry.
A career in corporate finance means you’ll work for a company to find the money to run the business, grow it, make acquisitions, plan for its financial future and manage any cash on hand. You might work for a large multinational company or a smaller firm with high growth prospects. The key to performing well is to work with long-term goals. Many people think that corporate finance jobs are the most desirable in the field. As a financial officer, you’ll concentrate on areas such as liquidity, flexibility, compliance with laws and regulatory support.
In investment banking, finance professionals work within companies and governments to issue securities, help investors trade securities, manage financial assets, and provide financial advice. Smaller firms may be oriented toward bond-trading, M&A advisory, technical analysis or program trading.
Money managers hold stocks and bonds for institutional clients and are on the buy side of Wall Street. Money managers must be proficient in the latest sophisticated quantitative methodology. Many people cross over into money management after years of experience in selling positions in investment banks. A solid background in portfolio theory, fixed income investments, and CFA certification is required.
Financial planners concentrate on helping individuals with their financial futures. This work requires excellent interpersonal skills. A good financial planner understands investments, taxes, estate planning issues, and knows how to listen. You can practice within a company or as a sole proprietor, if you have strong entrepreneurial skills.
The demand within the trillion-dollar insurance industry for finance degree graduates is also strong as our population gets older and wealthier. Jobs in insurance involve helping individuals and businesses manage risk to protect themselves from catastrophic losses and to anticipate potential risk areas. You help clients understand their insurance needs, explain their options to them and assist with the selection of appropriate policies. Career options in insurance include underwriter, sales representative, asset manager, and customer service rep. The median salary for insurance agents and brokers in 2000 was $42,000.
As an underwriter, you would require further training and crede

Your Questions About Doing Business Online Malaysia

Mark asks…
Starting a Transcription Service Business, how do I do it?
I type 110 words per minute, I hear this skill would allow me to start and run a successful transcription service business?
Where can I go and find out information on LEGIT transcription services online that I can do at home? Please, no scams (If I have to pay anything up front, it’s a scam).
This will be a business on the side that I can start and build along side of my full-time job. I work 40-50 hours per week, and this will be done on evenings and weekends. Any information, along with websites, potential scam information, would be greatly appreciated. Thank you my fellow business men & women.

Jere answers:
Typing speed alone does not a transcriptionist make. How are you with terminology? Are you familiar with what they call the basic four? Remember, these aren’t words that are in Websters. An esophagogastroduodenoscopy and colonoscopy are procedures for two separate ends of the body, and they evaluate the alimentary canal. That’s just GI physician procedures. In order to know how to type for them, you must know what they mean while they’re talking about the procedure. This also means that you can put a blank in where it doesn’t make sense to you and “flag” it for the physician when he clearly says something that doesn’t make any sense.
You will be responsible for spelling drugs (generic and trade name) correctly. The drugs vary widely by specialty. Go to drugs.com and take a look at the lists and lists of medications that you’ll have to look up, see if it matches the diagnosis if there are two close choices to choose from.
There is some investment required, too. You have, have, have to have good reference books and keep them updated, or buy them in CD form. Proficiency with word processing programs is a must, as many companies are picky about what word processing program you use.
Unlike many posts here, however, you have a better command of the English language than most. That’s a good start. Typing skills are very important, but it’s the details. It’s all details. It’s not an instant money maker, either, because when you get a new client, you have to make templates for them, get samples, see how they want you to print their notes, discuss sound file/tape transfers (and machines to play them). In addition, if you’d like to go out on your own, they’ll be tracking you down no matter where you are to find that document that you know you’ve typed, but they’ve lost, but they’ll insist you didn’t type it.
It’s very hard to start in this career, and I’ve been fortunate. Right now, getting into this field is really scary, because voice recognition could put all transcriptionists out of work and soon. Your choices would be independent contracting (you are responsible for all the work, i.e, you own it), subcontracting (you take work for an owner where you probably just type it up, but they’ll expect perfection), or an employee (hospital jobs are always held by the best of the best, because they offer fringe benefits). As a general rule, IC and SC positions do not provide benefits, and unless you can come up with a lot of paper purchases for your business, self-employment tax is a killer.
Geez, I’m re-reading this and I sound bitter. I love what I do, so that’s not it. It just seems that so many people think “hey, I type” so they can do this. There is probably a local transcription service in your area. You may very well be capable of doing all this, even if your background isn’t medicine. Just ask someone to give you a hard dictator, like Dr. Five-syllable-name-from-Malaysia and see if you can pick out what he’s saying. I’ve seen it. There are medically oriented people and as soon as they strap on the headphones, they’re leaving. You have nearly all senses working as you transcribe. You’re listening, you’re converting spoken word through your fingers onto the screen, and your foot is tapping a pedal.
I really don’t want to be discouraging, but it’s not a good field to invest so much time in right now. I know all the schools on TV are saying, “Make money working from home!” and their kids are playing oh-so nicely in the background while mommy is pounding on the keys, but the reality is: You’re trying to figure out what a drug name is, you finally think you’ve got all the syllables to make you get it when you use your VAST resources, and then the kiddo falls, the dog knocks over a vase, etc. There is something called a turnaround time, too. If you promise to get the docs’ documents to them, you have to do it.
I left ICing for good a couple of months ago. I don’t want to deal with doctors calling me all times during the day, nor do I want to be chained to a time to go do pick ups and deliveries. Please go to a local transcription company and interview someone, and listen to the hardest physician there. It will open your eyes. If you’re like me, you’ll tell yourself “I can do this” and go for it.

Jenny asks…
What is the difference between an embassy and a consulate?
Okay so I had this idea that I would write the international agencies that deal with foriegn policy for other soveriegn entities worldwide and goad them into conflicts with other nations. So I kind of need that information.

Jere answers:
A consulate is like a junior embassy. It’s generally located in a busy tourist city, and takes care of minor diplomatic tasks such as issuing visas.
The word consulate literally means office of the consul, who is a diplomat appointed to foster trade and take care of expatriates. You can read some pointed essays about the role of the modern day consulate at the American Foreign Service site.
Embassies are much bigger deals. The word embassy comes from the French ambassade, or office of the ambassador. Ambassadors are high-ranking diplomatic representatives who serve as spokespersons for their national governments.
If one country recognizes the sovereignty of another, they generally establish an embassy there. Embassies take care of the same administrative duties as consulates, but they also represent their governments abroad.
This can be tricky business. For instance, the United States doesn’t maintain an embassy in Taiwan (in order to maintain diplomatic relations with China), but it does operates a consulate there to take care of its overseas citizens.
For an interesting online look at another prickly diplomatic relation, check out the U.S. Embassy in Malaysia, which features a reaction statement to the recent incarceration of Malaysia’s former Deputy Prime Minister, Anwar Ibrahim.
You may recall the famous photograph from 1975 of American citizens ostensibly fleeing the American embassy in Saigon.
The building was in fact an apartment complex across the street, but the message was clear: once the embassy leaves, the country symbolically leaves.

Whats the danger of opening a personal account and using is specifically for your business related purposes?
I want to use an online bank for my business but it only allows you to open personal accounts. Is it legal to use a personal account specifically for businesses purposes and what troubles could I run into down the line.

Jere answers:
If you are serious about running a buisness, then take a few extra steps and open a business account. This will help you seperate business and personal costs. Your Questions About Business Online Services

Betty asks…
What is an online personal shopping service?
What are online personal shopping services? What are the online personal shoppers and how such services work through Internet? I’m interested to know any good online personal shopper services which could assist me hard to find shopping items…

Jere answers:
Personal Shoppers provide product advice, fulfilling shopping requirements faster. Many retail stores have personal shoppers who are restricted by their own products. But through an online personal shopping service, every product on the web becomes an option.
For example: I’m suddenly told that work is sending me to Amsterdam for a month, maybe two. I’d like to take the family, but we’d have to go in two days’ time. I can’t afford a hotel for the four of us, but renting a furnished house should be ok. How can I find a property and close the deal in 48 hours when I don’t know anybody in Amsterdam and I’m busy with preparations for going, here in Poughkeepsie? Personally I can’t, but my online personal shopping service can!
How does a personal shopping service (e.g.
Http://www.savefinder.com ) work? Simple:
You turn on the internet
You choose http://www.savefinder.com
You post a question (such as the above) for $10.00
Within 24 to 48 hours you get an answer to your question
You pick up the phone and start dealing to rent a furnished house or you browse the links provided by your personal shopper and place an online order
So you spend a small amount of money and very little time to get answers for your questions.
You may be wondering: how good are the answers you get from the Savefinder Personal Shopping Service (or any other online personal shopping service)? Who are the online Personal Shoppers? Given the increasing threat of internet fraud and identity theft, is it safe to answer any questions they might want to ask? How do you know what the right price should be for any question?
These questions and more can be answered by reading the Savefinder Terms & Conditions, Privacy Policies and FAQs sections.
Usually a customer can get answer in 24 hours for the following categories of questions from such online services:
1. Antiques
2. Art
3. Books

5. Cameras & Photo
6. Cars, Parts & Other Vehicles

Laura asks…
Any suggestions on the best place to get your DNA tested to trace your roots? Anythings that I should avioid?
I’ve seen several onlines services that will send you a DNA kit to swab your mouth and send it back to them. It’s quite expensive so I just want to make sure I’m getting what I pay for, any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Jere answers:
I like FamilytreeDNA the best as it has a huge database of results to compare. The Y-DNA would be for your male line.
The MTDna would be for your female line, from you to your mother to her mother, etc.
Depending on what you would like to find out you can do the Y-DNA first and then upgrade later for the female line.
I’d do at least 24 markers on the male side as with 12 you get that you are related to everyone, with more markers tested you can narrow down your line to match other lines.
Make sure if you use FamilyTreeDNA that you put in your last name and join that project to get the discount price.
Not only will you get your results, you will get notified when there are matches.
After you get your results you can upload them to Ysearch to compare our results to that database too.
Ancestry also lets you upload your results but they are just getting into this business.

Lisa asks…
Can you find a true and sincere business partner on B2B platform?
There are some companies who develop new foreign trade business partners online. Do you have confidence to find a good one on B2B platform?

Jere answers:
Its a good question. I sell & buy leads through b2b portal. Its our capability to choose a good business partner or service provider. Nowadays we have few choice to find the trusty business partner by checking their feedbacks, reviews, ratings etc. And also we should go for some research about the business partner in online and check their reputations. I usually sell or buy leads in Toboc b2b marketplace. They have a vast database of suppliers, manufacturers, buyers, sellers, business service provider, brokers etc. They checked every leads whether the product lead is valid or not, trustworthy etc. But beyond that its our decision to choose the business partner. Apart from Toboc there are few good b2b available online. Link for your reference http://www.toboc.com/ I think it will help.

Charles asks…
How does one go about advertising an online business for sale that is generating revenue?
Is there a specific listing service for online businesses? Business brokers?

Jere answers:
Loopnet.com
craigslist.com
hire an agent or broker (commercial specialist) and have it listed on the MLS.
What type of business is it? Where is it? Post it here and maybe you’ll find a buyer.
Good Luck.

Your Questions About Internet Business Solutions

Mandy asks…
How to start a home based business?
I want to start a home based business, but I’m not sure where to start. I have some money saved up to invest but not a lot.

Jere answers:
There’s two ways you can go about having a home based business.
You can invest in one of many home biz opportunities available. You basically subscribe as a member (usually by purchasing one or more of the company’s products), and then you gain the rights to sell their products. You also recruit other distributors that work beneath you, and earn you a commission each time they make a sale as well. These are network marketing, MLM, and direct sales companies.
However, there are several drawbacks to these types of businesses. One is that you don’t have any ownership. The products don’t belong to you, the company isn’t owned by you, and your downline members may or may not remain loyal to you. If the company shuts it’s doors, changes it’s prices or products, or simply kicks you out, you’re dead in the water.
In essence, all you are is a high commissioned sales person. It works, but it has it’s dangers.
A much better solution is to sell information products. The online information marketing industry offers the same exact benefits as a network marketing or MLM company (passive, residual income), and same potentially wealthy lifestyle. The advantage is that you don’t have any of the drawbacks mentioned above.
You create and own the information product, the company is yours, the websites are yours, and all the profits are yours. You don’t have to bother with recruiting sales people that may leave you or do nothing, and you don’t have to worry about training them and putting up with their complaints and frustrations.
In other words, you will have a REAL business that can be extremely lucrative for you quickly.
Most people simply don’t know how to get into the information marketing business, or are too intimidated by it because they perceive it to be difficult. However, it’s really not, and there are tools for you to learn how to build an online information business to a full-time income within months, even if you’re starting from absolute scratch.
Shiraz Khan and Nitro Marketing have built a strong reputation for teaching people how to build an internet business from scratch using a powerful 10-step process.

Robert asks…
What are simpler methods of taking payments and paying for things on the internet than PayPal?
Please suggest any that you know of. I just want a simple way of dealing with small transactions. It is possible that I will never take money out, even, just use the money to buy things on the internet. I might also want to use it internationally.

Jere answers:
If you want to take payments I would accept a merchant account because transaction fees can be a lot cheaper than paypal.
Merchant account- http://www.exceptional-business-solutions.com/payment-solutions.html
When paying for items online you can always use Paypal because it is free but not every website accepts it. You can also just use your credit card.

Charles asks…

Thomas asks…
What is the best venue to sell my business?
I own a pool hall that I want to sell. I have already tried a business broker who just put it on all the business for sale websites, with no luck. I have also tried craigslist, but no serious potential buyers came from there.

Jere answers:
Hi Joseph,
Its not just easy to sell things online. It needs patience and endurance. Since you have it on some websites and even try craiglist, you should try amazon and ebay too. Spread your tentacles and you hardly can tell where it will come from.
I assure that the best to have anything sold is the internet because it works 24/7 and round the clock. Be patient you will sell since you have all the documents with you.

Ruth asks…
I would like to start my own property investment business in florida, where do i start?
I already have a few properties, now I would like to form my business. Do I need to have a city/county license? I would also like to incorporate, I know the site but not the forms required. As much information as you can give me would help. Thanks in Advance.

Jere answers:
There are many internet companies that will assist you in forming a corporation or LLC. Look under incorporation on your web search. They will give you the necessary forms. It should not cost more than $350.00 or so to form a corporation.
Before you do the corporation thing you should check with your tax consultant, get his imput into your decision. You want to get as much information as possible in making a decision. After you have enough information then you can make an intelligent decision
He might even be able to assist you with a local person that can assist you in forming a corporation. Just about any attorney or para-legal can do this simple procedure. Just remember who ever do it for you stay within good price range, all the time the most expensive is not the best solution when the end results can be accomplished more economical.
Yes it would be a good idea to get a city license, the only thing you need from the county court is is to file your DBA (doing Business As) after you your corporation.
When forming your corportion make sure that “they” also get your EIN number from the federal government. This is sort of like a social security number, but are for corporations. Don’t get saddle with doing this, there are many telephone waits and delays.
One thing most people forget once they have in corporated is that this is now a person of it’s own. It will have it’s own bank account, please don’t put your money in this account and don’t put corporate money in your personal bank account. Since you work for the corporation you make take a salary for your services. Set this up with a company like ADP. You tell them the salary and they will tell you how much to bring as well as issue pay stubs, make sure the correct amount is taken out for the IRS ,SSI, medicare and other deductable items. Do it right and there will never be a problem, do it wrong and both you and the corporation will come under the evil eye of the federal government.
You will want to establish corporate credit as soon as possible, so as soon as you have established your bank account, you will now need to get a dedicated telephone line for your corporation. This line should be listed in your local telephone book, so it can not be your cell phone. The main thing is it has to be in the telephone book listed with the corporation name.
Now when you do have all that you need, go to Staples and Office Depot to apply for a credit card under the corporation’s name. Don’t forget to take the corporation EIN number, you should not have to use your social security number.
Also you will want to establish a credit report for the newy formed corporation so call Dun and Bradstreet. Ask them if they have any information on the corp that you have just formed. To your surprise they will not.
They will, however, look it up in the telephone book to see if it is listed. If it is they will call to get information about this newly formed corporation.
Now since you should answer the telephone you should be able to give them all the information they request. They will want to know about projected income, current income, number of employes, if your children run errands for the company guess what they work for the corp, if a spouse answer the phone then that spouse is an employee. I counted by answering service as an employee. So what do we jave 4-5 employees.
They will also ask how long you have been in business. That question can best be answered as to how did you long were you in business before it envolved into a corporation, so you might have been in business long before you decided to incorporate the business.
You do not own a corporation, you work for a corporation, even if you are the only share holder. So don’t get in the rut of saying “I own a corporation.”
I hope this has been of some use to you, good luck.

Your Questions About The Real Biz

Susan asks…
Can I start a business and use my Middle Name as My Legal Business Name?
Im not trying to have a hidden identity or anything, but I hate it when people mispronounce my first name. Its been happening for years. I want to use my middle name as my first name, when I conduct business. I want to be known by my Middle Name in the business world. I want to sign business contracts using my middle name as my first name and my real last name as my last name. Is this possible? How can I make it official?
Ex: If my name was, Harold John Fitz (Not really my Name)
and I wanted to be referred to as John Fitz in the biz world and sign biz contracts as John Fitz, Coud I do that…
If I posted this in the wrong category, please let me know where I should post it.

Jere answers:
You will simply be doing business as (DBA) “Your middle name” Just register the name of the business as your middle name with your state. You can then open a business account and have check written out to the business but you’ll sign for them as you normally do.
Good Luck

What’s the deal with these website video spokesperson companies? How can they do it so cheap?
I’ve done a little acting and I have friends in the biz. A normal day rate for a real actor is $600 on up. So how can they offer a website video spokesperson to walk on site for $50-$300? Aren;’t they losing money on each? Is this a scam?

Jere answers:
At our company www.vspworldwide.com we pay our actors $100 – $150 per job so if they come in for two or three gigs they are usually in and out within an hour. Pretty good hourly rate if you ask me.What some of the lower priced companies do though is cut corners in the production process to make their operation as efficient as possible.
There is no way to get away from quality talent with time spent on quality production. That is supposed to cost more but you get more production value. $50 for a walk on spokesperson is basically just as good as asking your friend with a camera to record a video for you. Why would anyone trust their marketing outcome to such a poor representation of their company.

Paul asks…
Are there any govement grants for women who want to start a small business?
I’m thinking of starting my own photographic restoration service and can’t find any information about government help for women venturing into the business world.

Jere answers:
SBA does NOT give out grants. From the SBA website http://www.sba.gov/expanding/grants.html
“The U.S. Small Business Administration does not offer grants to start or expand small businesses, although it does offer a wide variety of loan programs. (See http://www.sba.gov/financing for more information) While SBA does offer some grant programs, these are generally designed to expand and enhance organizations that provide small business management, technical, or financial assistance. These grants generally support non-profit organizations, intermediary lending institutions, and state and local governments.”
You stand a greater chance of getting a government-guaranteed loan through the Small Business Administration http://www.sba.gov/financing than a government grant. Read the SBA Financing page to learn about criteria needed for borrowing
It is hard to find grants to start a business. Unlike the myths that some perpetuate, federal government and even private foundations hardly give grant money for a for-profit business. And yes, grants mean PAPERWORK – lots and lots of it, that is why a cottage industry of grant writers was born.
Nonetheless, you can go to the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA) http://www.cfda.gov and Grants.gov http://www.grants.gov – these are two sites created by the federal government to provide transparency and information on grants. Browse through the listings and see if you can find any grant that would support a for-profit venture.
Here is a listing of federal grants for small businesses. See if there is any available for individuals for starting a business — THERE’S NONE.
Most of the federal grants are given to specific target groups with specific requirements (e.g. Minority business owners involved in transportation related contracts emanating from DOT – Grant#20.905 Disadvantaged Business Enterprises Short Term Lending Program
Grants are also often given to non profit groups or organizations involved in training or other similar activities (grant 59.043 Women’s Business Ownership Assistance that are given to those who will create women’s business center that will train women entrepreneurs

For private grants, you may want to check the Foundation Center’s Foundation Grants for Individuals Online http://gtionline.fdncenter.org . It’s a subscription based website ($9.95 per month) but their opening blurb only says that the database is ideal for “students, artists, academic researchers, libraries and financial aid offices.” Entrepreneurs are apparently not one of them, so I take it they also don’t have listings of private foundations who give grants to would-be entrepreneurs.

John asks…
What are the employment outlook for people majoring in “information system”?
I would like to know how the future is for people who are majoring in: Business Administration emphasis in Information System. I read articles online and on the paper and they all say that people majoring in information system is a bad idea. Mostly because they don’t know what it is. I don’t know what it is or what kind of work they do.
There’s one article that says that people with a bachelor’s in Information System have a 13% unemployment rate and that number will go higher in the future. I want your opinion and honesty of how the outlook for people with that degree is. Is there job security in the near future (2-3 years from now) or should it be recommended that people should major in something else. If people continue to pursue with that degree how would an undergrad or recent graduate get an internship? Please be honest (brutally honest), I might be influenced with what you say.

Jere answers:
I majored in Computer Information Systems (CIS) and there are a variety of directions that you can go with this career. If the 13% unemployment rate number is correct that is not bad considering the actual US employment rate is probably approaching a real number of almost 20%.
If you like Technology then this is a good degree. If you are not sure what the degree is about you need to research that before you pour money and time into getting this degree. I’ve given you a list of jobs that would be possibilities for a CIS (or eqivalent degree) graduate.

How can I get paid to advertise on my web site?
I am working with a small group of experts producing a colour encyclopaedia online. We want to keep the website free to access but still want to make some money from it. Each page has been designed to incorporate an advertising banner – are there any agencies that can manage and provide the advertising and pay us for using our site?
Thanks in advance!

Jere answers:
There are several ways you can earn money from advertising:
1. Join an advertising network. Advertising networks are organizations that aggregate Web sites that offer advertising space, and sell banner ads (and other advertising options) across them. Traffic requirement is often a minimum of 5,000 monthly impressions, although many do not accept sites hosted by free page services.

Tribal Fusion http://www.tribalfusion.com
Casale Media http://www.casale.com

2. Participate in contextual advertising networks. Contextual advertising are text ads delivered based on the content of the web page using an automated system.

IndustryBrains http://www.industrybrains.com

3. Sell advertising for your site directly. This is admittedly a more difficult route for a small business site wanting to earn advertising revenues. But hey, as they say: “no pain, no gain!”

Helen asks…
Difference between personal and small business credit?
Do credit bureaus differentiate between personal and small business credit scores? If so, does building up a small business credit score encompass the same practices as building personal credit? If one has a personal card with a particular creditor, then open a small business, would that creditor use any of their payment history/credit lines as some sort of a guide to extend small business credit? TIA.

Jere answers:
A true business credit card is a line of credit that is taken in the name of the business, under the business’ credit. Activity, whether good or bad, is reflected on your business’ credit report through D&B and other financial institutions, and the liability for any debts incurred and bills owed is with the business.
However, some companies out there offer “business” credit cards which they require a person guarantee for. These institutions will often ask for a personal guarantee, and will almost always ask for a social security number from the person applying for the card. If this is the case, the credit card is not a business credit card, but is simply a personal credit card which is used for the business. The business is not liable for bills and debts – you are.
When applying for a credit card for your business, watch out for areas asking for your SSN (and not your TaxID or EIN) and be wary of any credit card that asks for a personal guarantee. By ensuring that your credit card is in the name of your business, you can help to build your business’ credit, while avoiding creating problems with your own.
Many companies offer a list of credit cards that are issued under the business name only. Those lists typically run $300-$900, depending on the quality of the information inquiring. I would suggest starting your search online via google or yahoo. Search for “strong business credit” (just like that in quotes) to find services that sell the information.
Good luck,
