Your Questions About Internet Marketing

Ken asks…
What are your biggest frustrations with internet marketing?
What are the areas of internet marketing that give you the most stress?
seo?,
getting traffic?
starting up?
website?
time management?

Jere answers:
I would say: Starting Up!
Everything else come later. If you are (or your product Or Service) introducing your market. You will never know how will it gain its success. You are still unaware about its potentiality. So, you have a long list of work to do homework for getting credibility in to that particular market.
Of course there are couple of effective ways to do that. But although, you have do testing and praise the market. Which is bit tedious process. You must have high patience to survive in this duration.
Keep Persistence if you have passion!

Chris asks…
What is the biggest consistent problems and challenges faced in your internet Marketing journey?
Hello all, I am a internet marketer. I am looking for people with problems with their internet marketing life. I ask around my friends and they state Information overload, time management, traffic, conversions. What about yours? Let me know and see what i can do to help? Thanks

Jere answers:
My biggest problem that I run to is getting sufficient traffic. It’s hard nowadays to get into a niche or any field that has no competitors. Almost every niche has several other players in it, and with the amount of information out there more and more people jump on the IM train everyday. I have to say though, hiring freelancers from odesk and the sort is one of the biggest advantages of this industry.

Sandy asks…
I would like to begin internet marketing at age 11. Where do I start? What informational pages should I read?
I’m currently a middle school student, age 11, and would like to begin internet marketing, as I love technology. I’m confused on where to start, what to do, and how to begin with absolutely no money whatsoever. To anyone who helps me on this issue, thank you.

Jere answers:
You can try to write your own free ebook and give it away via a squeeze page. This one you can create either by yourself, or let it host at aweber (get the first month for $1).
When you have some subscribers from your squeeze page, try to promote a product from one of the famous affiliate networks like clickbank, rapbank, jvzoo, warrior plus…. But not sure how old you need to be to register there….

Your Questions About How To Do Business Online In India

Mandy asks…
How do I register a online business in Bangalore India?
I want to start selling online and need to register the business. I dont want to open a shop or warehouse. Please advise easiest way to do this..

Jere answers:
You dont have to register your business, you have to register a company name to do business as proprietorship, partnership, private limited. Search for company registrars and get information about registering a company.
Then once you register a company. You should have an ecommerce platform to sell online. If you are ok to pay for ecommerce website. Consult a web development company or directly buy the ecommerce platform and host it in your own domain from shopify.
If you are looking for free source, then try open source softwares like magento or opencart
Then get the list of various shops in bangalore like mobile shops, art galleries, furnitures, apparels etc.
Then call them and fix up an appointment and explain about your business and put up an agreement with them that you can get the products from them and sell it online and once the sale is done you will get a commission from them.so you don’t have to maintain a warehouse. But you should maintain an inventory and warehouse online in your ecommerce platform.

Your Questions About Direct Marketing Jobs

Helen asks…
How do i find a job working for a sports team in my area?
i live in chicago, il and am pursuing my masters in marketing. I really want to work in either the sports industry or in automotive marketing. I have looked on careerbuilder and monster, but i didn’t see anything. Please help.

Jere answers:
Contact the team(s) directly. The HR dept or whomever answers should be able to direct you. If they don’t know, Ask them would would they do in your situation and feel them out for other suggestions. People are generally willing to help.

Linda asks…
I want a part time job working from home and I DON’T want to pay any start up costs. Any Suggestions?
I am looking for a part time job working from home. Ever web site seems to have a start up fee associated with it.
Is there and FREE legitimate ones out there?

Jere answers:
If you’re looking for a work from home JOB (not a home based business), there are lots of companies who hire for call center type positions. And don’t listen to the nay-sayers who say work from home and telecommuting jobs are all scams or that there aren’t real jobs. There are. You just have to know where to look and how to avoid the scams.
Do NOT pay for a list of jobs or pay to get a job. There are a few of the legitimate companies that, after you have qualified for the job, ask you to pay for a background check if you will be handling sensitive information like credit cards. It’s usually $20-$30 and from legitimate companies is a legit fee to pay. Other than that, there is no reason or need to pay anything if you just want a job. Some of the call center jobs, you are an independent contractor (IC) and some you are an employee.
If you want to start a home based business, there will be fees involved and business expenses. There are many legit business opportunities out there in direct sales, multi-level and network marketing. There are great companies to work with, but having a business isn’t for everyone.
For info on jobs, you can check out this comparison chart from RatRaceRebellion.com – it shows a huge list of companies, their requirements, pay, where they are etc. Http://www.ratracerebellion.com/CS_Comparison.html
Also, check out the telecommuting forums at WAHM.com and WorkPlaceLikeHome.com

Sharon asks…
Whats the difference between “factory direct” and “compatible” when buying computer parts?
Is factory direct cheaper than compatible? I don’t know what any of this means.

Jere answers:
Neither one has a legal definition.. But in most cases,
“Factory Direct “: comes directly from the manufacturer, as in ” Factory direct replacement OEM toner for your printer” — which would come directly from HP or Lexmark, Lanier, Dell, etc.
“compatible” : this wasn’t the part originally installed, but it is adequate to do the job.
– you may see that a power supply is no longer available, but a newer model is compatible.
Your computer manufacturer may sell compatible parts like memory or power supplies..
You can order cheap knock-offs directly from the ‘cheap knock-off factory’ therefore, “Factory Direct”.
In the case of most parts, especially Toner and consumables.. OEM (original equipment manufacturer) parts – even if compatible, are sometimes more expensive than that of other manufacturers. They include the brand labeling, research & development, quality control, patent or trademark issues, advertising and tech support expenses.
“knock off” – or “after market” secondary market products are cheaper. In many cases, you can get the exact same parts.. One example is memory; less than a dozen companies in the world actually produce RAM memory chips. Several companies buy them, assemble them on boards, re-label them, or buy the entire component and re-label it. We can buy RAM directly from the producers for a lot cheaper than the brand names. But.. Your computer mfr doesn’t support memory they didn’t sell you.
In the case of printer toner.. The secondary market is widely variable. With OEM toner, you are protected and have a stable, reliable product. There are plenty of counterfeiters.. Look for those holograms and expiration dates.
Ink / toner refills can be close or equivalent to original equipment, but the case may not withstand the extra use. In a few cases, re-manufactured toner has cost customers of mine to replace entire printers.. Without warranty protection because of the after-market toner.
Of course, using these is a big deal.. You could save 75% of the cost of original OEM cartridges… After 3 or 4 savings like these, an average desktop printer might be paid off by the difference.

Jenny asks…
Trying to enter the engineering job market, what am I doing wrong?
I have been filling out online applications and not hearing anything back from any companies. I recently graduated from a great engineering school but have a gpa lower than 3.0 and no direct engineering intern experience. How can I break into this job market?

Jere answers:
There is no easy way into this job market without experience, you just have to keep applying.
One thing you can do that would help your chances, is to follow up your online job application.
Wait about one week after submitting your application, then telephone the company, to see if you have been given an interview.
At least this way you get to talk to someone, and if you ask nicely, they may be able to give you some advice on how to get a job, or change your resume etc.

Robert asks…
Can anyone recommend contacts or recruitment agencies to find marketing jobs in Vancouver?
I am currently based in London England but have an active work visa for Canada and would like to move to Vancouver with my wife. I would like to be able to start the job search process before moving across and am looking for senior level marketing positions.
I have both client and agency experience so could look at both sides. I was Head of Marketing for a Financial Services organisation in the UK till about 2 years ago and have been a Senior Strategic Planner at a Direct Marketing Agency since then. Overall I have 13+ years experience in Direct Marketing and Strategy Development.

Jere answers:
If I were in your position, I would seek out a Marketing Trade Association in Vancouver, and talk to them about opportunities and needs. You may want to start with the Canadian Marketing Association:
http://www.the-cma.org/
They post positions on their site as well as provide a lot of great information.
Best wishes on your move!

Your Questions About Email Marketing Templates

Donna asks…
i want to create a microsoft office access database for a doctors office?
is there a ready-made template i can download? or which template can i modify easily? the database should have records of patients, their prescriptions, etc

Jere answers:
It doesn’t look like Microsoft produce one out of the box as it is a specialised market.
Your best bet would be to look through the sample templates and then copy tables/forms/queries from each and merge them into one database.
Potentially though it could be a big/painful job because of different styles etc.
You would also need to setup database security straight away to meet confidentiality rules.
You may be better off looking for a ready made solution using google:
patient database software
that brings up several packages.
If you want to discuss this offline then you can use Yahoo email (see my profile page) to email me without displaying your email address.

Ruth asks…
How can I bring more visitor to my website?
I have an E-Commerce type website, selling costume jewelry. I wondering how can I bring more visitor. I only get about 4-5 visitor per day. I already sign up at yahoo shopping and also do all the meta keyword. Is there any other way to get my website out there? or Any good marketing anyone can suggest me? Please
Thank you so much

Jere answers:
The word is SEO and it may be that your site is not designed so that it reads well with the search engines. Keyword meta tags are no longer counted by the search engines. Body content is. And if the site is a template and database driven, your links cannot be followed. There can be many issues.
The website is built. Good! You want the world to see it. Great! But how are you going to achieve that? Even if you do get visitors in the initial period, it is necessary to make sure that they do continue to visit the website on a regular basis. In other words, it is necessary to convert a onetime visitor into a regular guest. Here are some tips for winning the website traffic:
Interactive website – a great way to get new content: It pays to update and put fresh content on your website regularly. This can be done if the site is made an interactive one. The viewers should get something in return for spending time on your website. An interactive website will help in viewers seeing something new every time they pay a visit. What’s the use of visiting a website only to find the same old content on a website. Stale content is something that does not go down well with the audience. Updates are like magnet that attracts the visitors. The higher the frequency of updates, the stronger is the force of attraction. A website can be made to look fresh in the following ways:
Virtual communities: Try to build a virtual community. This can be done by having blogs and discussion boards/forums. Providing such kind of platforms helps in keeping the interest of the visitors. It also provides fresh content for your website. Interaction also helps in building a strong bond between members which is ultimately beneficial to your website.
Keep a special column that will contain regular feature updates: Try maintaining a column, which can be regularly updated. Such column can be a message from the chairman’ desk informing about the latest trends. Or it can be one of the employees of the company who writes about serious issues pertaining your industry in a humorous vein. It can also be a column where you answer emails received from the common masses that contain queries related to your field. For e.g. If a car manufacturing company maintains a website, it can start a column where experts answer queries of the public. This can be something as small as tips for increasing the mileage of the car.
Hold chat sessions: This is a great way of increasing the traffic to your website. Try to bring in the top shots from your industry for a chat or an interactive session with your visitors. Make sure that it is held for free. This is a sure shot method of attracting web traffic. For e.g., if your website is dealing is based on movies, you can invite a well known critic who can chat on the topic ‘Techniques for reviewing a movie’ now that is something which will attract the eyeballs.
Create Blogs: Blogs are a great way of bringing traffic to your website. It is an in-thing that is generating a great buzz in the world of Internet. Having a blog may just provide that extra reason for visitors to visit the website. Blogs also provide a platform for the visitors to share their thoughts with like-minded people.
Free stuff works: Everybody loves free stuff. If your website is able to provide visitors with free stuff, it will provide all the more reason for them to keep on visiting your website. The free stuff need not be of great monetary value. It also need not be tangible. For e.g. If your company is involved in manufacturing chocolate cookies, may be you can hold a workshop on how to manufacture a cookie sauce. Alternately you can dole out free t-shirts with your website and company logo printed on it.
Collect Feedback: One can collect feedback by making polls and online surveys a regular of the site. Everybody loves to have a say and polls and surveys are just the right medium for hearing the common man’s voice. It also makes the site far more interesting and interactive. It can be also useful for knowing the public’s thought on issues pertaining to the industry or the firm itself. For e.g. If a car manufacturing company has recently launched a new car model, it can hold a poll asking the general public its opinion on various aspect of the car.
Eyes and ears of your industry: A website can be made as the announcement system of the entire industry. If a news pertaining to the industry has been leaked or released, it can be made known on the website of the company. This will persuade people to keep on returning to the website because it is offering them latest industry updates. For e.g., many a times financial experts are aware of the amendments that are likely to be made to the taxation law. If the firm is an association of accountants, they can then use their website to make people aware of the likely amendments.
Treasure trove: Make the website a treasure trove of information. This can be done by listing articles, which is relevant to the company’s industry. The company can also offer articles that are an information mine for those interested in making a career in the industry of which the company is a part. For e.g. If an advertising agency has a website, it can include articles on how to make a career in the field of advertising world or may be a list of career options available in the field of advertising.
Promote the site: One has to promote the website if one has to have any chance of standing in the competition. There are two ways of promoting a website – online and offline.
ONLINE PROMOTION: A website can be promoted online in the following ways:
Search Engine Optimization: If you have not made your site search engine friendly, then do it now! It plays a very important role in attaining higher rankings in the search result. It is common fact that people do not go beyond the first two pages that are displayed in a search result. Hence SEO is important in attracting traffic to the web.
Add new features: Keep adding features which are suggested by the visitors to the website. For e.g. If there is a constant and an increasing demand for an opinion poll to be added, then try to add it to the website. This not only increases the web traffic but also shows that you care for the readers of your website. This helps in building goodwill for your website. The goodwill in turn will help in the formation of loyal readers. Also make sure that the added site features are publicized through all possible media.
Allow reprints: If people ask for a permission for the reprints of the articles that feature on the website, give them the permission to do so. But a little caveat. Ask them to give a link to your website on their pages. This will not only please the said people but will also help in increasing the traffic to your website.
Post your website on relevant newsgroups: Make sure that the URL of your website is posted on relevant newsgroups. For e.g. If the website belongs to an advertising agency, it should make it a point to post on newsgroups which relevant to the advertising world.
Keep Posted: If there are people who have registered themselves with your website, make sure that they get regular emails telling them about the articles that have been posted or any other relevant material. Showcase the articles in such a way that they are tempted to visit your website for reading the rest of the articles. This will help in increasing website traffic.
OFFLINE PROMOTION: Offline promotion can take place in the following ways:
Include Website address: Try to include the website address in all possible modes of communication. Letterheads, envelopes, bills, cash memos are some of the places where the address can be included.
Include it in your sponsorship deal: If you are sponsoring any event of program make sure that the banners also include your website address. This will make sure that your website address is read by many people.
Redirect members: Many times organizations get phone calls from the general public. Most of the phone calls are queries asking for some or the other information. After providing with basic information they can be asked to visit the website for a detailed information. For e.g. If a bank gets a call from a customer asking for the interest for a one year deposit, they can be given the information and can be asked to visit the website for further information.
Empathy for the visitors: One should empathize with the visitors. It requires a little effort on the part of the webmaster to keep his site in such a manner that it is a visit to your website turns out to be a pleasure-filled experience. This will not only help in attracting new visitors, but it also ensures that the loyal readers do keep visiting the site. Here are some tips for maintaining the website:
No technical problems: Just imagine a visitor clicking on a hyperlink of your website only to find that no the page does not exist any more. Be sure that he will be pissed off and you will lose a visitor forever. Hence it is necessary to make sure that they are no broken links. Similarly make sure that the page is not suffering from any technical glitches.
Tell a Friend: Make sure that articles of your website contain a link that can be used by the visitor to send an interesting article found on your website to a friend. In other words, make your site forward friendly. The ‘ tell a friend’ option is a great method to get new visitors to your website.
Secure the site: It is important to provide the visitors with a feeling of security. People are often wary when it comes to doing online transactions and finance related procedures. A site can be said to be secured if they are having a lock, which appears on the bottom right panel of the monitor screen. Make sure your site features that lock.
Observe the competition: It is necessary to keep a close eye on the competition. If their website is attracting more competition, ponder upon the factors which might be helping them and try to apply them to your website.
Navigation friendly: Make sure that the website is easy for navigation. A difficult site may put off the visitors. It should also not have too many links. Similarly a sitemap should be provided. It makes the site search friendly for the user and wins his approval.

Your Questions About Business Online Banking

George asks…
What’s the difference between a posted and authorized balance in a checking / savings account?
My Wachovia online banking site shows both balances, but I’m confused as to which is the available balance. Which one shows the amount of money I can use without incurring an overdraft penalty?

Jere answers:
The posted balance is what has been posted to your account…(while the bank was closed for instance, you spend $X) and it hasn’t been deducted yet…usually it will the next business day.
Go according the authorized balance. That is how much you have in your account that you can spend. Just be careful if you use a bank card as credit…it may take a few days before those transactions are posted and it risks you overdrafting if you don’t count them.

Sharon asks…
How long does it take for a check deposit to clear at Bank Of America?
I went in the bank and did this today at like 2:08. It’s only $303. Should it show up in my online banking by 6 pm tonight?

Jere answers:
Is the check drawn on a local bank? If so, three business days. Banks usually clear the first $100 in 24 hours.
Checks drawn on foreign banks can take up to 10 business days.

Carol asks…
How can I find an attorney that will take on a large company?
I’ve been dealing with a large online bank with horrible customer service which has negatively impacted my business at several turns. How can I find a litigation firm willing to take on such a case?

Jere answers:
Look in the phone book. The primary consideration for the lawyers is getting paid (as it is with any other occupation). If you have the money, lawyers will do the work. If you are asking if you can find someone who will take the case for a percentage of the judgment, they are all over the place but only if your case is strong enough and you have a claim for enough damages that their cut will make it worthwhile.

William asks…
Is the instant verification for a bank account on PayPal safe?
There are two options to verify your bank account on PayPal. One taking around 2-3 business days by depositing two small amounts (usually under a dollar) and you then confirming how much those two amounts are. The other option is to verify instantly by entering in your online bank ID and password.
Normally I would be fine with this, except for the Privacy Policy, which to me, sounds like that they have the right to distribute this information to third parties.
So, is it safe?

Jere answers:
Yes it is safe. I have used PayPal several times with no trouble.

Jenny asks…
Can you open a bank account with a registered fictitious name?
I like to do business online as an independent contractor, and would like to keep my business account separate from my personal account.
I haven’t registered a fictitious name just yet, but before I do, I would like if someone could give me a little insight on how this works.

Jere answers:
Since your bank account must be tied to your Tax ID number, you must use your real name. Also, all bank accounts are monitored by the Homeland Security Agency to insure funds are not being used for Terrorist Activities, and monitored by the Drug Enforcement Agency for money laundering.
Using a fake name is a federal felony, violating IRS guidelines, Federal Banking Laws and Homeland Security Laws.

Your Questions About Business Online Services

Ruth asks…
Potential online business advice..?
Well i’ll be going to college and possibly moving out in a year and a half or so. Maybe take a year off. But what i do need (what everyone needs) is money. I’m in a complicated situation where i can’t get a job like a regular teen, and i also have my younger siblings to care for all day after school, leaving me little time for anything but them and my studies. I was thinking about starting up a online website to sell certain crafts (i’m pretty good, original, creative and gettin better 🙂 Would that work alright? And am i even allowed since i’m only 16? And is there anything i should know before getting myself into this? thanks guys. Much appreciated 🙂

Jere answers:
If you’re planning to create an online business selling products or a service, you will need to formally register your business with the state or government and pay your business taxes as everyone else does (depending on your total income). Of course you can do it, anyone can do it.
If you need money to go to school, apply for government loans and bursaries and grants (government will grant you low-income families grant and possibly a millennium grant with textbook grants yearly if you are eligible).
I honestly think it is better if you try to find some work, or get paid by your parents to look after the children. Possibly have your own babysitting business and just look after the neighbour’s kids and your family kids after school while the parents are away and working.
Since you’re only 16, you probably don’t know much about business, marketing, and how management of your business works. Read a few books on it if you are serious, otherwise you may make as low as nothing to some income a year if you “Wing” it. But business is sometimes simple, I do this for you at this price providing that you have something in demand to clients.
What I do suggest is creating a certain hobby that you can master and technically provide your skills to others for a price, such as editing documentations, powerpoint presentations (professionally), art, graphic design services, commissions, tutoring, teaching English to immigrants and newcomers, etc.
If you need money and you say that you want to move out, I would reconsider that since it sounds like you have no access to any source of funds for school. Until you are financially stable or financially compensated, go for it.

Mandy asks…
Starting online businesses?
I was thinking about starting a little online shop or store, I’ve looked at how to go about it, but some of it seems to be a bunch of scams to try to get you to do this or that. There was a site that did look interesting but I was wondering if it was even legit. It’s called cafe press.com or something like that. You can sell, stickers, shirts, or even books you make. I was looking into that or how to just have a small site and work it’s way up, see how things go. Has anyone heard of the site by chance.

Jere answers:
Although there are millions of scams out there, there is nothing “illegitimate” about selling products, yours or others, online. The looks like they are selling legitimate products in a legitimate manner. HOWEVER, this site promotes selling your own designs on their clothes. This is suited for someone who is interested in designing. Basically, you set up a store that sells their products with your design which you upload. Here’s the deal though: If someone orders the product, they produce it with your design with their technology – which you will no doubt have to pay for. So you have to examine the cost of that.
When selling anything online you want to pay attention to web traffic and search engine optimization. There are billions of websites and millions of searches every day. Competition is stiff.
If you are an artsy person and are interested in this cafe press thing, I would seriousy examine all costs and read every single link on their website. Get exact numbers. It says you get a percentage of sales. How much is that?
Personally, I think starting a website with an online business is a great idea..and someday I’ll get around to finishing the one I started last year…ya right…
The most important thing about your website will be driving traffic to the website so people know it’s there and buy your stuff. You can have a great product, but if nobody sees it nobody will buy it. Learn about search engine optimization and study how to build web traffic to your website.
Find a few different websites and compare them first before diving into anything.
Take a look at this comparing cafe press to others;
http://www.podentrepreneur.com/2008/02/11/print-on-demand-review-part-two-cafepress-zazzle-spreadshirt/
I don’t know if this link will work for you but here’s some websites that visitors (which by the way have gone slightly down over the last year) visit along with cafe press:
http://trends.google.com/websites?q=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.cafepress.com&geo=all&date=ytd&sort=0
Although it’s always good to search for reviews on the company you’re researching, remember that people saying good things might be involved with the company’s affiliate program and therefore have financial interest in promoting the company. Additionally, many company’s pay people to write positive reviews about their website. So be cautious.
There’s a list of reviews from people. You will note all the “rave” reviews are from store owners or “popular authors” and I bet many are affiliates. Make sure you click “view all” reviews and you’ll find the ones from regular customers – who were generally displeased with service and quality – something YOU need to be concerned about if you want repeat sales.
I’m not thrilled with this website, but it does give a nice explanation of cafe press:
http://whereisthatmoney.blogspot.com/2007/12/sell-on-cafepresscom-thomas-does.html
Anyhow, do your research, look into other options. Make sure you find out your base cost, production cost, product costs – apparently cafe press lets you put your own price on it..so if it costs 10 dollars for them to produce it you can choose to sell it for 15 or 20 dollars..whatever you think people will pay. Then you get the difference between the base cost and what you charge.
Anyhow, I can’t say it’s a rip-off site. You won’t make millions – but it might be a way to get a dabble in an online business without getting hurt and learn your lessons and use what you’ve learned on a website that will make you more money!
I’d be concerned about reviews about poor products though..so look around and see what’s out there…
And don’t forget you can always make your own website (from a template) and provide related content – then put affiliate ads on the website from different products – so you’ll get a little commission from differnet websites – again you really need to look into the legitimate ones. Spend time researching.
Good luck to you!

Jenny asks…
Online Business…?
I had this idea of creating my own online business… but I’d love to know what people think about this idea, and what could this business be?!

Jere answers:
The best way to earn money working online is to do affiliate marketing. This is where you sell goods from other merchants straight to consumers and make a commission. There a great number of affiliate marketing networks that you can join. They will provide you with merchants and their products that you could sell. You don’t even need a website (but this would be the best way of doing it). You could send links to your friends and family. You can add links in most forums in your signature line. Don’t spam as people will not tolerate this. For more information on affiliate marketing … Http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Affiliate_marketing
Also here is a list of reputable affiliate networks that you can join to make money online. Best part, you could sign up free and start making money today…
Cafepress (You can design or sell t-shirts and other goods)
http://www.cafepress.com/cp/info/storeref.aspx?pid=948741&cjpid=2111530&xid=948741&tid=dgshop&refby=mycart
Azoogle (affiliate network for goods and services)
http://www.azoogleads.com/corp/publishers/apply.php?i=19913
ShareaSale (affiliate network for goods and services)
http://www.shareasale.com/r.cfm?b=44&u=207949&m=47
ClickBank (affiliate network mostly electronic media)
http://techweb.reseller.hop.clickbank.net
Copeac (affiliate network for goods and services)
http://affiliates.copeac.com/signup/2858
LinkShare (affiliate network for goods and services)
http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/stat?id=VAF/co98pmk&offerid=7097.10000024&type=3&subid=0
All Posters (affiliate network mostly selling posters)
http://affiliates.allposters.com/link/redirect.asp?ParentAccount=F1578735648
You could pretty much sell anything under the sun. Just do a Yahoo search for “affiliate program”. And you will find a great number of merchants who will be happy to sell goods and services for them.
If you plan on setting up simple websites or even blogs to get started, I highly recommend…
HostGator (low monthly cost and unlimited sites)
http://secure.hostgator.com/cgi-bin/affiliates/clickthru.cgi?id=funnyjawbone
The best way to start is to come up with a niche (or theme) that you’re passionate about. So for example, if you’re into automobiles, why not setup a blog about cars or be even more specific just on Honda Accords. Put affiliate offers related to cars or Honda Accords (basically ads) on the sides for your readers to buy from you. Do enough of these type of mini niche sites, and you’ll have checks coming in – in no time.
Remember don’t spam. Always provide useful and valuable content to your user. And they will thank you by making purchases through your site. And it becomes a win-win situation.
Low risk. Low investment. Potential high gains. Give it a shot. Good luck.

Your Questions About Internet Business Plan

Helen asks…
How to open up my own business?
I’ve been searching the internet for the past couple of months, visited website upon website, and still do not know exactly how to go about opening my own business. I understand the basics; write a business plan, get registered, find financing, etc. I just do not know how to go about doing these things. Can anyone break down into detail these steps so I can finally grasp it and understand where to go from here? Hopefully this question makes sense. Thanks!
I have already chosen what I would like my business to be.

Jere answers:
You will only publicly(from a bank.) be lent money if the venture you’re wanting to borrow funds for can be evaluated. You may can get guaranteed by the SBA but you will have to have ~30% down in cash and enough fixed-assets to fully cover the remaining 70% of what you’re trying to borrow. If you are new, a valuation can’t be placed upon your business. New entrepreneurs begin their career by starting very small with money they’ve made from their job or from private funding from family and friends. Equity firms would be slightly easier for funding BUT will still require you to already be doing something and have a high net worth. They are bigger dicks than banks too. Equity firms will want an indefinite percentage of your company, whereas banks and family won’t.

How Internet affects positive and negative way in the ecomomy nowadays ?
Hello I have to make a presentation for my oral comunication on wednesday and I am planning on doing about How Internet affects to the global economy in good and bad way, so I want to explain with some poimts for example one positive way it can be companies spend less money in marketing publishing on Internet or I am not sure but I think Internet business do not pay taxes and affects the economy (US) Ok thank you for helping

Jere answers:
The internet, overall has had a profoundly negative effect on the economy. It has completely obliterated entire industries, transmuted others to mere shadows of their former selves (classified ad industry), It has enabled mass outsourcing to occur. It has created a variety of new, unstable industries that rise and fall, here one day, gone the next. Truly, the list of its detrimental effects is too exhaustive to go into here. It’s trend of devaluing nearly everything it comes in contact with is the primary cause of our current ‘depression’. It causes people to go out less, interact without speaking more often, and waste time surfing and ‘wanking’ to free porn sites.
Positively, it has made things more convenient, fast and immediate. Money transfers, information access have enabled tasks and jobs to be done quicker. The influx of free information and media has resulted in new technological innovations and experiences that, prior to it, would have to have been paid for. It allows people to find answers to questions immediately and spend less time on directions.
But, in terms of the economy, there is not really any good news to report.

John asks…
How to start an internet business website?
I am planning to start an internet based business and would like to create a legal website with a domain name. Please advice the steps and procedures to go about it. I would like to know about the licensing, registration, legal etc processes about it.

Jere answers:
It is very simple.
Step one. Buy a domain name. It is about (it is about 11.00/year)
Step 2. Sign up for a hosting service (It is about 6.95/month)
The above is just the basic. I own a website. My provider gave me a free domain name when i signed up. I don’t know if I am allow to disclose their name. If needed e-mail me and I will give you more details.

Where can I get a FREE sample commercial cleaning business plan?
I’m in the process of writing out my business plan and I need some assistance.I’ve been searching online for weeks, looking for a free sample business plan pertaining EXACTLY to commercial cleaning to no avail. Can someone help me?I need a full free commercial cleaning business plan template.

Jere answers:
Hmm, there aren’t a lot of commercial cleaning business plans that are free. What I suggest is get the usual business template, and a lot are for free on the internet, then plug in your data. Usually, most business templates are the same so there’s really no right template for a commercial cleaning business.

Your Questions About Doing Business Online World

Mandy asks…
Colorado Technical University (online)?
Hello,
I plan on attending CTU online and I will like to acquire a B.S. in Business Admin. with a concentration in I.T. (Information Technology). However I have concerns about online learning (comprehending the material) and if any employers care about what school you enrolled into. The reason I chose this route, is because I do not want to become a victim of the college system (taking remedial classes and class rosters). To be simplistic, I just want a education to thrive in this technological world and contribute to society. Thank You and honest opinions please. No pretentious grammar nazis.

Jere answers:
Simple answer is online degrees are as close to worthless as a degree can be. Why? Here’s quite an in-depth answer. Firstly lets understand as to what the purpose of college is in the first place. It’s to take classes and gain technical and academic skills in a field right? WRONG! College is in fact not much about learning skills at all. Most of the people I know hardly have any better skill sets than at the time of graduating high school. Rather, the college experience is more about acquiring life skills. Like time management, employment opportunities, interaction with professors, critical reason, taking independent decisions (inevitably failing and then picking yourself up), learning how to learn (this is an important one), public speaking, networking with people in your industry and finally, bullshitting. (well to an extent) And then comes gaining the actual skill sets and academic knowledge you went there for. If it is just the skills sets you are looking for, you don’t even need online degrees. If you are meticulous enough, you can learn more from reading books sitting at home, than from learning anywhere else.
Also the 2nd reason as to why online degrees get the bad rep, is for their lack of rigour. I have taken my fair share of online courses. Never took one that was nearly as challenging as most classroom college classes. In my hardest classroom classes, I had to stay up whole nights solving assignments. Never had to do that even in the hardest online class. Also there usually is a whole bunch of plagiarism involved in most online classes. My friend made a whole lot of money money by solving problems, assignments, writing essays and thesis papers for people who took online classes. Plagiarism happens in classroom situations as well, but the opportunities to cheat are far fewer as compared to the medium when your identity is just a username and password.
I understand in a day and time like this, college education is very expensive. So online classes seem a worthy option offering you subsidized education while providing you with the same degree at the end of it. But believe me, the degree is not what counts. You will be missing out on so many life changing experiences that significantly impact your long term future. It’s a completely different argument that most college students waste it away on booze and partying. But the ones that have their heads straight, succeed so much more. Online classes are just not the same. The opportunity to confront life changing experience just don’t exist.
The solution? Look into community college programs. There are hundreds of community college programs which have a link up with 4 year colleges. You study for 2 years in community college, and if the grades are decent enough, you can continue at a 4 year college for your senior years and graduate with a Bachelors degree. A rare few community college programs have programs where you can even make use of the resources of the parent university.
Employers completely get the hardship of paying for college. So they are very understanding of that and often hire competent students from community colleges. However in the case of Online degrees, good luck with that. You can be a contrarian and try your luck at that. And I am sure if you work hard enough, you will find a job. But are you willing to take such a huge risk, given that online degrees are NOT cheap? This is an irony coming from me as I failed out of a top 5 engineering school recently. But I am going back with a hardened attitude. The changes I have made in the last one year away from school have been the most profound in my life. Now I am flourishing. Please don’t sell your future out. That online degree is worthless to most employers AND more importantly you will be losing the opportunity to come face to face with the most important experiences of your life.

Jenny asks…
how do you check to be sure a business (online) is legit ?
mega-store electronics .com has a range (dcs) that normally sells for $5000 to $6000 on sale for $ 1599 + $39 ups shipping. They want a western union wired money as they cannot yet process credit cards–business located in the UK. Now, why do I think this could be a scam ? the link came from bizrate. Is there anything on the net that allows one to check if a business is legit ?

Jere answers:
If they are setting up shop in the online world, and the only form of payment they will accept is “Cash” (which is wiring money via Western Union is), then you need to look no further.

Daniel asks…
How much does it cost to make your own business online?
How much does it cost to make your own business online?
Question Details: I want to make a shop online with the products I am offering that are handmade. I want to sell it online but I don’t know where I can make a store I want it to have everything like the paypal and accepts credit or debit. Iwas looking at yahoo! small business. But I am not sure if I only pay $39.95. And is it for the beggining or do I have to pay more and the next month how much do I pay? Is it going to be more?

Jere answers:
What ever you choose, you should think of the shipping cost. If you start something on the net, you open yourself to the world.
Yahoo is a great place. Ebay is also a great place. Over here in Canada we have our postal services that offers to build a shop with them and linked the shipping directly.
You should visit some more places on the web before you choose.

Susan asks…
Has anyone done business with Gametag.com?
My brother is trying to sell his WOW account and gametag.com made him an offer of $200. He hasn’t played in quite a while however; so, $200 is an unusually high offer for his account. We don’t really trust it. Has anyone else done business with this company?

Jere answers:
Yes, I have done business with gametag.com a few times now. I bought and sold a WOW account, and also sold my EVE online account to them. They have the best prices around that I can tell, and they are american as when I was verified the person I spoke with was clearly american on the phone. Overall, I have no complaints with them as like the other individual said that “most” companies are a scam.
I can tell you that I think they have stopped buying in wow though. My friend tried to submit an account to them, and they told them to try back later. However, I am not sure if that is the case now.
My only suggestion is deal with a first world country business. Never deal with China as they will simply screw you over in some way.

William asks…
Does online business need a license and pay taxes. If yes then to whom.?
I plan on starting an online business, since i am young and don’t understand much about laws. I want to ask that do i need to register my would-be business and pay taxes if it is going to be totally online. Like i am gonna provide some kind of service.
If the taxes are needed to be paid then to whom, because virtually one day i can be managing it in the U.S. and other day in Australia.
So do i need to register, pay taxes, if yes then to which country. Because theoretically it’s online business and can be operated from anywhere, right. It won’t have any solid location in any particular country.
The only fair way i think it should work is like this:
Lets say i get 60% of my clients/visitors/etc from Country A and 30% from Country B and rest of the 10% from anonymous place. Then my online biz should be taxed by whatever percent is assigned by Country A’s law of my 60% taxes. And 30% of taxes go to country B while the last 10% to all world governments since those users were anonymous. Pretty idea don’t you think.

Jere answers:
Legally it does have to have a solid location, even if it’s not where you operate. You’ll need a business license for your area to operate. You’ll have to pay federal, state, and local taxes for that area. If you are selling something, you’ll also need a state sales tax number in many places.
That should help you quite a bit. If not, see an accountant. The last thing you want to screw up is federal taxes.

Jere answers:
Just done a bit of background digging.
Both Centrum websites were registered this year, the .biz one is under construction.
One is registered with yahoo, the other is hosted on a $6.95/mo economy plan. One is registered in Utah, the other in California.

The “contract” is very sly. You are making a contract with a “website”, not a company. You might as well be making a contract with a bottle of diet coke. All they promise to do is introduce you to ‘prospective’ employers, equivalent to photocopying a few pages from the Golden Pages phone book.

google biz kit???????????
does this actually work wher u can make over 5000 dollars a month??

NO – It’s a scam using Google’s name. This is NOT a program by Google.
And scammers are pretty clever to make you think it’s real. Only when you’ve paid and seen nothing will you believe that it is a scam

Your Questions About Internet Marketing Forum

Mandy asks…
What are some internet forums that cater to millionaires looking to discuss investment strategies?
I want to discuss investment strategies on stocks, bonds, ETF’s, options, money market funds, auction rate securities, etc with other people who have at least a few million dollars in assets.

Jere answers:
Warren Buffet says…
“Wall Street is a place where people come in Rolls Royce s to take investment advice from people who take the tube, daily!!”
Internet aint the place to meet millionaires!
Except ofcourse, the kind from Nigeria (mostly; and I wonder why so!), that offer me, a couple of million dollars, every morning, for free!!!

Mary asks…
Which company provides Cheap SEO packages with professional services?
I want professional Internet marketing services, If anyone know. Please tell me.

Jere answers:
When you choose an SEO company, make sure you choose on reputation.
How many customers have they got, can they PROVE they are the best SEO company around and can deliver what they say they can do.
Have they got examples of customers that have hit the top with their services? Have they got sites themselves that have hit the first page?
Check out RankWARRIOR as an example, you can see them on all of the major Internet Marketing Forums, with a massive following from TOP SEO Internet Marketers.

Ken asks…
If you had $300 to spend on promoting a website what is the single best service or tool?
I work for http://www.dwhs.net and we have a extra $300 extra this month for internet marketing. So far I was thinking social networking or forum signatures. Maybe the Yahoo directory?

Jere answers:
The internet is created as a medium to share and gather information. I am sure there are many questions that people will be asking when they are looking for reliable hosting services.
I will personally invest the $300 to get writers write about website hosting. Once the content is available, I will leverage it by converting the content to different format and distribute widely across the internet.
Besides getting long term traffic back to the website, this is also a good way to brand the company.
Hope my humble contribution is helpful.

Nancy asks…
Is Internet marketing really a career for a Management Information Systems major?
Or is that moreso for a marketing major?

Jere answers:
You don’t even need a college degree to be an Internet Marketer. If that’s what you want to do, jump in and get started. I recommend visiting the Warrior Forum (www.warriorforum.com). It’s free, and it’s a gold mine of information about all different methods of making money online. It’s the best marketing forum I’ve come across.

Helen asks…
Where can I order business cards online for… (photography)?
Hi
I would like to make business cards to promote my photography..
I would like to have my name, email, cell phone number and a sample picture……
thanks!

Jere answers:
VISTAPRINT! The best online printers out there. Not only will they do business cards, but they can make t-shirts, flyers, magnets, stamps, etc. Anything you’d need. They have a lot of nice templates to choose from or you can add your own photo (it costs a little more but not much). I actually JUST ordered some business cards for the same purpose you are. I got (I think) 280 business cards for $4.95….and that included shipping. Everything they sell is cheap cheap cheap, but it’s not cheaply made. Their products are very professional looking. Also, sign up for their eNewsletter, they have good deals all the time. Free business cards, free magnets, free stamps. They’re awesome.
PS-I don’t think the emails are a scam. I’ve been using them for a long time (my husband runs a cleaning service and he’s been using them for years) and while they DO send you a lot of stuff (once a week or so), they’re always good deals. But just my opinion….

Donna asks…
customised business cards?
Does anyone know where I’d be able to send them my personally designed business cards and they’d be able to print a batch for me online??
Many thanks appreciated 🙂

Jere answers:
Business-cards.com turn out really good. I’ve used them several times.
Click “upload full color 4/0 business cards now” which is where you would upload your artwork. 4/0 means FULL color on the front, 0 color on the back.
The price for 1000 is the same as 500, so get 1k (or more).

Lisa asks…
Where can I get CHEAP business cards made at online?
I would love to just design my business card and have someone else print it and mail it to me. I don’t want anything fancy. Just basic and professional looking.

Jere answers:
online design utility
cheaper than vistaprint and much thicker card stock, with UV coating…vistaprint uses thin stock and no coating

Your Questions About Internet Business For Sale

Mary asks…
Where can I buy wholesale baby clothing and accessories?
I want to open an internet business selling these items but I haven’t been able to find potential suppliers to start pricing, a business plan, create a brochure etc. I keep seeing this salehoo but I don’t see any baby items when I visit the site. It seems that you have to pay to get more information. Can anyone help me find a wholesaler who sells BABY clothing and accessories?
I check Ebay all the time, most of the items are used and from the united states. Shipping is costly and can take a long time from the United States to Canada. I am looking to find a potential supplier in Canada to avoid paying Duty also.
If anyone could help me that woul be great thanks. Melanie

Jere answers:
Good Luck I sold Victoria Secret whole- sale and getting the items was a night mare – often. When they came it was wonderful.
I sold things to all people who wanted to sell little things but didn’t want to buy a ton at a time (think of that idea)! E-bay clients and home parties were my best customers.
You may wind up importing items from China/Indonesia it’s risky at first but once you find a source. It’s wonderful (wire money)
I no longer sell whole sale items I do sell swiss skin care.
From home and have been equally successful without headaches.
Meaning I have the products and support.
Good Luck.
PS you can also go to Marshalls or TJ Maax and buy things for a very low price and resell them – for a better price. To start small.
Kel@h-power.us
I was very successful at VS whole sale I sold to many people who did e-bay, and home parties.

Sandra asks…
What liscence do I need if I want to resell merchandise from wholesale online from home?
I live in Tempe, Arizona and want to have an internet business where I sell merchandise that I print on from wholesale sites.

Jere answers:
You would definitely need a sales tax permit (aka reseller’s license). You may need a business license from your city as well. Start at your city courthouse for the city license, they should be able to tell you where exactly to go for the sales tax permit.

Sharon asks…
How much do you have to make before a hobby is classified as a business ?
Such as an internet sales site, like Ebay

Jere answers:
The general IRS rule is once you make over $600 per year on an activity, it needs to be reported. Hoever, it doesn’t mean you have to become a business, it just needs to be reported on the ‘Other Income’ line of your personal 1040 form. (I forget what line that is – I think it’s somewhere around Line15 to Line 20).

Jere answers:
It is actually really easy to start an internet business. You basicly have one choice. You could become an affiliate of a product someone else is selling you promote the product and make a % of the sale. Most affiliate programs send out checks every two weeks. Your Questions About Doing Business Online Government

Daniel asks…
Do I need a Tax ID number and a business license for an online store out of my home?
I’m looking to start an online retail clothing/handbag/shoe store and I would like to know all I need to get started.
I’m in California

Jere answers:
A Tax ID and a business license are two separate catagories.
First you tax ID can be your own Social Security Number when having a business run as a sole proprietor or owner. Which is how many small business start. You would use your Social Security Number when filing taxes for your business.
The other number you will need is a Use Tax number for collecting Sales Tax. This would be through your State Revenue Department. Since you would be collecting Sales Tax. Contact your states Revenue Department for information.
A main concern would be copyright and trademark infringement. Do you have a name for your store? Have you done searches to see if any other business or established enterprises uses the name or wording similar? This would also include your logo, too. You can use a website that has a domain search function. Type in the name you are considering and see what comes up. The best names would end in .com since most people would type that extension. When you have searched and searched (it took me almost a month to find a .com I liked and was easy to spell)
register the domain as soon as you can. Since the next day it could be gone. It is best to register your domain with one service and use a different web host service. This way you are not stuck using a service that you find out later does not work well for you. Do not transfer your domain to the web host company.
After you have your domain registered then start seaching and comparing web hosts services. Go to websites that review different web hosts that are not getting paid to be affiliates for the web hosts, as they more than likely will give good reviews to collect commision if you sign up from thier site. I found that the big companies are not always the best.
A business license you would get from a state, county, or city government. This varies since you will not have retail traffic coming to your home, and you don’t plan to sell door to door. A business license will depend on your local and state government.
The Small Business Administration offers a lot of information on starting, maintaining, legalities and other information. You can enter SBA or the full name to locate them on the Internet.
I hope this information helps,
Linda

Thomas asks…
How does Tax ID work?
i wanted to start this online business where i found the product i wanted to sell and i found different websites that sell my product wholesale but most of the websites require you to have a resale license and/or tax i.d number. SOOOO, My questions are:
1. How does using a resale license work?
2. How does using a tax i.d number work?
3. Does the IRS have access to the sales/profit when doing taxes?
4. Do I have to contact the IRS?
5. Do you have to be a certain age to get and use a
resale license and/or tax i.d number and buy wholesale product online?
(Please answer what you can!)

Jere answers:
You can apply for a Tax ID number online. Here is the link.
A tax id number must be used to purchase things wholesale. Also, by obtaining a tax id number, you are declaring to the government that you have a business, and hence must file a tax return every year for your business.
IRS- http://www.irs.gov/Businesses/Small-Businesses-&-Self-Employed/Apply-for-an-Employer-Identification-Number-(EIN)-Online
Hmm….regarding age, I don’t remember having to state my age when I filled out for mine, but I did have to put in birthdate. I don’t know for sure about age, but I would assume age 18. Because if someone is under 18, they can’t even get a bank account on their own without a parent co-signing for them.
I buy things online at wholesale and re-sell them as part of my business. I have never heard of a resale license before.
Good luck to you.

Lisa asks…
Do online businesses have to have a Seller’s Permit?
Hey Yahoo,
I have opened a few businesses and registered them with permits but I am about to open another one. I remember hearing or reading somewhere that if you are selling items and charge tax on same state purchases, you need a Seller’s Permit, but if you do not charge tax at all, you do not necessarily need a Seller’s Permit. Is this true? If I don’t charge tax can I only file quarterly taxes and file a fictitious name and skip the hassle of permits?
Sincerely,
Jason H.

Jere answers:
Yes, they must have all the requirements of the state/province you live in. Even though the business is on-line, and your server may be in another country, you are legally liable for all the local business regulations, licensing, tax collection, tax payment, income tax, and labor laws.
Most businessses never need to worry about most of these – but you must register the business, see if your local government demands a busines license, and pay taxes.

Helen asks…
Online Business Questions?
I’m seriously considering starting my own online business; however, I really don’t know where to begin and could use some opinions regarding.
I’m a freelance artist and am going to make a website showcasing what I can do, moreover, taking orders for commissioned artworks as well.
What steps do I need to take in order to get started? I already know what to do as far as the website goes, I’m a web development student and am going to do that all myself; although, I’m less certain about copyrights, business names, etc. Do I need to get my business name and web domain copyrighted (or whatever it would be called for that).
I’m pretty clueless as to what I need to do, please help me out here, it’s much appreciated.
BTW, I live in Arkansas.

Jere answers:
You DON”T copyright a business name, you register it; but as a sole propiertor you can use your own name and there is no need to register it; if you want to use other name than yours then you need to register the trade name or “Doing Business As” with a government agency.
As for the domain name NO you can’t copyright it by itself (the content is copyrighted: pictures, text; but not the web site; you don’t need to formally copyright every single stuff you put at the page since copyright is granted since creation but for some stuff like books is better to do so) what you can do obviously is used the same “Trade mark name” you already registered or your own name as your website name.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trade_name
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trademark
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copyright
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Domain_name
Now remember a, Company name, Copyright and a Trade Mark are three different things and they follow different rules.
Go to the Copyright Office web site and read the whole thing.

Mary asks…
What steps do I need to take to start a business online?
I have an idea for a was to earn a little extra money offering services online but I don’t know how to start up a website to promote so I can get interested people the information they need to employ me. Does anyone have suggestions on how to get it started? Thanks in advance 🙂

Jere answers:
If you plan to incorporate then you need to register with the federal, state and city government. If you plan to run the business as a sole proprietor then all you need is a business license from your local city government. Some cities do not require you to get a business license until the business makes $3,000 to $4,000 so see what your local government requires for an e-commerce business.
Steps for getting started:
First and foremost write up a business plan.
1. Forming the business either through incorporating or as a sole proprietor. If you plan to incorporate then you need to get with your states Secretary of State to do this.
2. Find your SIC and NAICS code you will need either one or both for your business formation with the government entities.
3. Getting an EIN if required
4. Setting up a Franchise and Excise Tax and Sales and Use Tax account with the Dept of Revenue in the state you are in. You need to determine if you need one or both of these accounts. Just call the Dept of Revenue in your state and they are usually pretty helpful in answering all your questions.
5. Set up a business bank account or bank account with a DBA attached to it if you plan to do the business as a sole proprietor if you incorporate then a business bank account is what you need.
6. Set up a merchant and or paypal account. The merchant account you can set up through your bank and this allows you to take all major credit cards.
7. Build a website and get a domain name and hosting. You can either build your own website or have one built for you, some start out with a blog because it’s free and you can make it look like a standard website so take a look at this option and see if it will work for you. Just keep in mind if you use a blog you need relevant content in the body of the blog if it’s just full of product links then you will eventually get shut down. As far as building your own you can either buy software or use the online website builders. Using the software allows you to create your site how you want it just make sure the hosting provider you use will support the software the online website builders you will be limited to their templates and I believe you have to use their hosting but you can buy your domain name from anywhere and just direct to their server.
8. Get inventory.
9. Figure out how you plan to ship product. This all comes down to how you plan to handle inventory. Some people have their own and some get involved with companies that have the product and you sell it and they drop ship the product for you. This saves on you having to carry the product yourself and having unsold inventory in your possession. If you plan to do affiliate marketing then you need to sign up to the affiliate programs and get your code specific links to post on your site.
10. Marketing your website. Just because you publish a website doesn’t mean it’s visible to the search engines and the public at large so you need to submit the site to the 3 top search engines at the least and start marketing the site.
This is a basic order and some of these may overlap each other during the process but I hope this helps out. I’ve been through the routine and had to figure it all out myself. Just ask a lot of questions with the people you are dealing with to get things in order.

Mary asks…
How do you promote your website online? Is therea way to do this without software?
If you have to use software what is the best software out there something that actually works to promote your website, link exchange and all of that good stuff. I’ve used search engine software but it doesn’t seem to work well at all?

Jere answers:
“If you build it, they will come” is not necessarily true on the Web. Putting a website up is one thing, but getting visitors to come to your site is another. The process becomes even more difficult if you have limited resources to market your business.
Here are some shoestring marketing ideas that can help you get the visitors you need at the least cost possible:
1. Create the best content you can with the best products you can possibly offer. Your content is your best advertisement – if visitors love your content, then they will go back and spread the word to others.
2. Make it easy for users to recommend your site. Viral marketing is very important — and easy to tap on the Web. But give your users the tools. Get a Recommend this Site script from websites such as cgiscripts.com and similar directories of scripts. Some even go as far as giving incentives to those who recommend the site to their friends. If only 10 people go to your site, but these 10 people invite 10 more – that’s additional traffic that you get for FREE!
Recommend Site Scripts (various) http://php.resourceindex.com/Complete_Scripts/Website_Promotion/Recommend_Site/
Big Nose Bird Recommend this Site http://bignosebird.com/carchive/birdcast.shtml
CGI Resource Index http://cgi.resourceindex.com/Programs_and_Scripts/Perl/Website_Promotion/Recommend_Site/
Hostscripts http://www.hotscripts.com/PHP/Scripts_and_Programs/Site_Recommendation/index.html
3. Rank well in the search engines (organic search results, not the pay per click). SEs can be a big source of traffic. The key is to create the best content in your niche. If you have good content, other websites will gladly link to you and offer your site as a resource to their audience. Check the on-page factors and be sure to get linked from authority sites in your topic area.
If you are going to read only one piece on search engine optimization, I suggest you read Brett Tabke of WebmasterWorld.com’s “Successful Site in 12 Months with Google Alone: 26 steps to 15k a day.” http://www.webmasterworld.com/forum3/2010.htm

4. Send out press releases. While outfits charge as much as $650 per release, there are free press release submission places on the Web. Press releases allow you to (a) attract media attention; (b) get more back links to your website without sending each website an email request; and (c) get more visibility especially if your press release gets in Google News or Yahoo News. My website (see my profile) accepts free press release submission (no strings attached!)
5. Submit articles. Write articles and submit them to websites accepting author submissions. You get exposure for your business; establishes you as an authority in your field, and allows you to get backlinks for your website. If 50 websites publish your article and it contains a link back to your website, then you easily get 50 links from a single article. The more links you have, the greater your chances for increasing your search engine rankings.
Here is a comprehensive list of where to submit your articles http://answers.yahoo.com/question/;_ylt=AhzreGmnCUicOoyedqypscUjzKIX?qid=1006022407481

7. Post a link to your site for free where it is allowed (always read the Terms of Use). Examples are:

George asks…
Where do I find the software where I can sell web sites to people to make their own websites?
I want to offer websites to people (like wix.com or webnode.com) Where do I find the software to do this and what is this called? I would like to have a site where people can build their websites from packages I would offer for free and also for upgrade to paying.

Jere answers:
By far the best tool for you would be WordPress.org. It’s a free blogging tool that many people use as a content management system. (CMS) WordPress allows you to build a main hub website which you can easily turn into a network where you can then sell people their own website with a selection of theme designs. Basically, you sell websites to your visitors and each time a customer buys a new website, your website will create a new website and give them a choice of themes and tools to add to their website. They can add their own domain name to their site and they will have their own backend admin area to manage their own website.
It can be set up in such a way where it’s completely automated. All you have to do is install wordpress onto your hosting account, set up the multi-user functionality, build a selection of theme designs for your customers to choose from, set up the payment processor and that’s about it, your ready to go.
WordPress.org is a MASSIVE community and you will find thousands and thousands of plugins to add additional functionality to your site. Literally, your only limited by your imagination.
Once you have it all set up, you can even offer different website packages by choosing which plugins and features you want to make available to each customer. For example, you could have a basic package that simply offers a website and a choice of three designs with no added features. A Silver package that offers a website, a choice of five designs and three plugins that offer additional features such as social networking, email marketing, an image gallery etc etc. And finally a Gold package that offers all the above with the ability to add their own domain name. I think you can even allow people to set up their own second tier website that also sells websites to their own customers.
As the main admin of the network you will have access to every one of your customers and you can view their visitor stats and send everyone messages at the same time. You can even offer some people FREE websites that contain your advertising so you can earn money from their traffic and you can offer them an upgrade to remove the ads.
As I said, your only limited by your imagination by what you can do. WordPress.org is by far the best tool for any network or paid membership site. Also, every website you sell will be hosted by you on your hosting account so this is something else you can charge your customers for.
Below is some information to get you started. You need to learn how to do everything but it’s not very hard and there is tons of online information to help you to build your network.
Installing WordPress:
http://codex.wordpress.org/Installing_WordPress
Create a Network:
http://codex.wordpress.org/Create_A_Network
Installing Multiple Blogs:
http://codex.wordpress.org/Installing_Multiple_Blogs
Be warned, there is also another version of WordPress at WordPress.com. This is a version of wordpress that only lets you set up your own blog on THEIR hosting. WordPress.org is what you want as this is self hosted on your own servers. Both versions are run by the same people. Actually, the wordpress.com version is an example of what YOU can do yourself with wordpress.org except they don’t charge people to build their website/blog.
If your serious about this and you’ve decided to go with WordPress. Here is a website you MUST check out because they offer many premium plugins which are perfect for someone building a network just like you. They have plugins to let you offer different feature to your customers, plus they have a selection of theme designs that your allowed to offer to your customers which is great because otherwise you’d have to build your own. (You can’t just sell any theme you find as most have copyright)

Where can I find good stock trading software?
Hi all, Ive been trading stocks for a little over a year but Ive only been guessing the direction of stocks and have had mixed results, I hear that professional traders often use custom built software to find trades. Im hunting around the place, does anyone know where I can find anything like this? Any help is greatly appreciated.
John.

Jere answers:
The markets these days can be unpredictable and without tools, knowledge and a plan, you’re unlikely to have much success. There are a number of charting and education sites that won’t cost you anything to use and will help you to build knowledge and confidence.
One is stockcharts.com devoted to technical analysis of stocks. They have lots of free resources like a weekly newsletter and great stock charts, as well as some paid services. I use only the free ones and use their charting regularly
A very nice stock charting software that is free to use for as long as you like is at quotetracker.com – I have used it for nearly 10 years and it can build charts that are simple or very advanced. You’ll need a connection to a data feed for the charts; some are free and some can be expensive.
The software was originally developed independently but was purchased by TD Ameritrade brokerage about two years ago, so if you have an account with them, you’ll also get free stock charting data to run the software. The software has a ton of features, and can be a little intimidating, but I use it daily and like it a lot.
For something a bit simpler, another way to go would be an all in one free applcation like the-market-toolbox.com – there again are sections that are free and some paid services, but all the basics like charting, research, and trading ideas are all free. They have you register to download the software and they will likely start sending email, but the list is easy to unsubscribe if you choose.
There are many choices available in the market that are free or very cheap and you only need to decide what sort of trading or investing appeals to you in order to narrow things down. An article I came across recently may help you to answer that question : http://preview.tinyurl.com/ahoacy

Charles asks…

Your Questions About Direct Marketing Strategies

Sandy asks…
What is the best saving strategy for short term wants, versus long term wants?
What could be the different saving strategies for an immediate want, like a new computer or car, versus a saving strategy for retirement. Should I select stocks, bonds, mutual funds or a combination of the three for each of the two strategies?

Jere answers:
Short term and long term non-retirement savings should always be separate from retirement savings.
In general, only retirement savings should be in any combination that includes stocks or corporate bonds. The “generic” combo for retirement is 60% stock mutual funds/40% Bond mutual funds and/or direct holdings of Treasury securities, esp TIPS bonds (or I savings bonds). Once you are within 10 years of retirement, you should reduce your stock allotment and add a cash allotment: 10% or five years worth of expenses, which ever is greater. Once in retirement, 40% Stocks, 40% Bonds, 20% Cash is usually a good mix for the first 10-15 years.
All short term savings and any long term savings that will be used within the next ten years should be in cash investments: Money market accounts, CD’s, Treasury Bills, Notes & Savings bonds.

Laura asks…
You are in charge of all marketing activities in North America for the Italian luxury sports car manufacturer?
Maserati. Maserati has just introduced a new model that will be competing directly against some other well-known luxury sports cars such as Porsche, Ferrari, Jaguar, and the BMW Z8.
How would you positioning strategy for the new Maserati model? What would you do to support and establish this positioning strategy? Keep in mind that although Maserati is as good as its competitors in terms of the car performance and design, it is a small company and it does not have the same amount of money for heavy promotions as its competitors.

Jere answers:
It sounds like you are working on a business school case.
I would position Maserati as different, more elite than the competition. I would make it a scarce resource, with initially a long waiting list to get one. At the same time pricing is going to be comparable (within 10%) of the direct competitors.
You may want to create a specific image (possibly European) and focus on specific demographics, and create a promotional strategy that uses multiple media to introduce the concept. You may want to place the product in some select movies and maybe do what BMW did a few years ago, hiring well known directors to create a short starring the car. In this case you may want to use European directors or people (like Scorzese) who are viewed as Europeans.
A less expensive strategy might be to give a car to selected celebrities and makes sure there is PR coverage on them. Also YouTube may be an interesting promotional challenge.
I hope this is helpful and gives you some ideas.

I need a good Idea for a Small business or new product for a Marketing Project?
I am in need of an idea for a Marketing Project. Basically we need to come up with a business or product that we need to create a Full marketing plan for.
I am at a total lose for ideas, I need something that could definatly be a success, and even a few ideas of how to market it.

Helen asks…
I have entrusted to take a class on general marketing, What are the techniques of general marketing?
I wish to know about the tricks, techniques, ideas and methods to promot the small scale products in to market?

Jere answers:
For a marketing plan to be successful, the mix of Product, Price, Promotion, and Placement must reflect the wants and desires of the consumers in the target market. Trying to convince a market segment to buy something they don’t want is extremely expensive and seldom successful. Marketers depend on marketing research, both formal and informal, to determine what consumers want and what they are willing to pay for. Marketers hope that this process will give them a sustainable competitive advantage. Marketing management is the practical application of this process.
Most companies today have a customer orientation (also called customer focus). This implies that the company focuses its activities and products on customer needs. Generally there are two ways of doing this: the customer-driven approach and the product innovation approach.
In the consumer-driven approach, consumer wants are the drivers of all strategic marketing decisions. No strategy is pursued until it passes the test of consumer research. Every aspect of a market offering, including the nature of the product itself, is driven by the needs of potential consumers. The starting point is always the consumer. The rationale for this approach is that there is no point spending R&D funds developing products that people will not buy. History attests to many products that were commercial failures in spite of being technological breakthroughs.
The next big thing is a concept in marketing that refers to a product or idea that will allow for a high amount of sales for that product and related products. Marketers believe that by finding or creating the next big thing they will spark a cultural revolution that results in this sales increase.
In a product innovation approach, the company pursues product innovation, then tries to develop a market for the product. Product innovation drives the process and marketing research is conducted primarily to ensure that a profitable market segment(s) exists for the innovation. The rationale is that customers may not know what options will be available to them in the future so we should not expect them to tell us what they will buy in the future. It is claimed that if Thomas Edison depended on marketing research he would have produced larger candles rather than inventing light bulbs. Many firms, such as research and development focused companies, successfully focus on product innovation. Many purists doubt whether this is really a form of marketing orientation at all, because of the ex post status of consumer research. Some even question whether it is marketing.
Diffusion of innovations research explores how and why people adopt new products, services and ideas.
A relatively new form of marketing uses the Internet and is called internet marketing or more generally e-marketing, affiliate marketing or online marketing. It typically tries to perfect the segmentation strategy used in traditional marketing. It targets its audience more precisely, and is sometimes called personalized marketing or one-to-one marketing.
Marketing is an ongoing process of planning and executing of the marketing mix (Product, Price, Place, Promotion) of products, services or ideas to create exchange between individuals and organizations.
Marketing tends to be seen as a creative industry, which includes advertising, distribution and selling. It is also concerned with anticipating the customers’ future needs and wants, which are often discovered through market research.
Essentially, marketing is the process of creating or directing an organization to be successful in selling a product or service that people not only desire, but are willing to buy.
Therefore good marketing must be able to create a “proposition” or set of benefits for the end customer that delivers value through products or services.
Its specialist areas include:
advertising and branding
communications
database marketing
direct marketing
event organization
global marketing
international marketing
internet marketing
industrial marketing
market research
public relations
retailing
search engine marketing
marketing strategy
marketing plan
strategic management

Thomas asks…
What are some creative ways to network and market my direct sales business?
I’m a single work-at-home mom with a toddler and I’m looking to expand my The Body Shop At Home business. What are some really unique, creative ways to meet people, network, and market my business? The less expensive, the better! Thanks!

Jere answers:
Are you looking to do direct sales online or offline?
There are different strategies for both.
For offline, try joining some playgroups in your area and networking with other moms. Direct sales is a popular option for stay home moms, so Im sure you will find many other in the industry who can offer local tips.
There are also tons of offline advertising methods. And online groups, creation of a website, etc.

Your Questions About Business Online Backup

Daniel asks…
What is an easy way to backup my website before I start editing it?
I had someone make my website for my business. They sort of went to a corporate job now and I’m left to try and figure out software to edit my site. Are there any easy ways to backup th website before I go and screw it up.

Jere answers:
Log into your Control Panel and schedule a site backup. Have it sent to you in an email or download it from the folder by FTP. The file will be in a compressed format. Once downloaded to your computer, make sure you in-compress it into its own folder.
I recommend get a good web editor and edit your site on your own computer. This will allow you to always have a current backup. Just upload any edited or new files by FTP to where they need to go. ALWAYS maintain a mirror image of the online directory structure on your computer to keep from breaking paths. Having your site mirrored on your computer will allow you to check each page as to it working correctly.
If you use PHP/ASP pages, then you need to install the app to allow you to run these on your computer.

I recommend hand-codong your pages and validate the CSS and HTML often before making the site. You can do all this locally on your computer where you can keep a backup of the complete site.
I would also find a better hosting than Yahoo.

David asks…
How to prepare for a Debenhams interview?
I recently applied online for a Xmas temp position in Debenhams. Today I’ve been contacted by them, inviting me to a “recruitment event” tomorrow. Will this mean an interview and if so, what questions am I likely to be asked? This is my first job interview so I was also wondering if people had any tips on how to make a good impression. Thankyou for any help!

Jere answers:
Biggest things here are to appear prompt (on time), dependable (will show up) and mature (will get things done, get along with others). Should appear neat and composed, formal attire is probably not needed but long pants or skirt and long sleeve shirt. Think of business people and dress like they do, no cutoffs, no holes, no bare tummy….
They typically ask your prior exp, you don’t have any but you might have babysat or worked charity or school events, those count. They will ask things like are you responsible, mature, get along with others, show up….try to answer and backup with an example in real life
Don’t EVER lie….you need to be honest….most interviewers are good at detecting lying and will boot you immediately.
Overall, apear cheeful, friendly, mature and responsible, that’s what people want, especially if you have to deal with the public
good luck!

Steven asks…
What is the best remote backup provider?
Not trying to be picky, but i need a good and secure remote backup provider for my business. Any suggestions?

Jere answers:
The best remote backup is Citadel Remote Backup it kicks the butt out of anything else out there. Don’t believe me, you can see a review here: http://www.backupreview.info/2009/09/24/citadel-online-remote-backup-for-servers-laptops-and-desktops-launched-with-redundant-backup-to-datacenters-in-us-europe-and-india/# or go to their website www.citadelbackup.com
By the way some joker will say Craponite, Get rid of Craponite and all the other junk, its the worst addon ever made, originally a quest tracking addon like questhelper then the author started bundling tons of random crap with it that clogs up your UI with unnessacery clutter and giving you lower fps. Dont’ waste your time.

Your Questions About Business Online Services Group

Robert asks…
How to start a loan business?
Who do you have to hire?
What forms do you have to have?
How do you check client background information?

Jere answers:
A true business credit card is a line of credit that is taken in the name of the business, under the business’ credit. Activity, whether good or bad, is reflected on your business’ credit report through D&B and other financial institutions, and the liability for any debts incurred and bills owed is with the business. However, some companies out there offer “business” credit cards which they require a person guarantee for. These institutions will often ask for a personal guarantee, and will almost always ask for a social security number from the person applying for the card. If this is the case, the credit card is not a business credit card, but is simply a personal credit card which is used for the business. The business is not liable for bills and debts – you are. When applying for a credit card for your business, watch out for areas asking for your SSN (and not your TaxID or EIN) and be wary of any credit card that asks for a personal guarantee. By ensuring that your credit card is in the name of your business, you can help to build your business’ credit, while avoiding creating problems with your own.
Many companies offer a list of credit cards that are issued under the business name only. Those lists typically run $300-$900, depending on the quality of the information inquiring. I would suggest starting your search online via google or yahoo. Search for “strong business credit” (just like that in quotes) to find services that sell the information.
Good luck,

Donna asks…
Need a business name for a private investigation company?
I am starting a PI business. I will specialize in infidelity decoy service and family law, but will also provide general investigative services. I want a catchy name and slogan. Also looking for marketing ideas for decoy service. Thanks for any ideas!

Jere answers:
Here are some things to consider when choosing your name:-
Are you starting the business, with the intention of selling the business down the track? It may be easier to sell a generically named business, than one with your own personal name.
You have told us what your business intends to do, in its first year, but from my experience dealing with businesses, what they start doing and what they end up doing may be totally different things, because the opportunity presents itself. Don’t limit your business by your business name.
If you have a passion or an inspiration from somewhere else use it. Explaining why you choose your name can attract people to your business, and your enthusiasm. DR Evils cat, Fluffy chinchilla’s, Tabby Cat, Nine Lives, Purrrrfect are all great names for someone who likes cats.
Do you need to tell the customers about the prices of your products, discount, affordable, Bi-Lo, best quality at cheapest prices?
Make sure that it is easy to spell, and pronounce. If someone hears it on the radio, can they google the name, and find you?
Do you want to limit yourself by using the suburb, city, or state you reside in, or do you want to encourage the community to shop locally.
In fact if you do choose a name ~ Google it ~ What comes up, is it already in existence somewhere in the world. If you Google my businesses name the only other entry that comes up is a single entry in the Netherlands.
What are your competitors called? Make a list of all of your competitors…do you want to sound like them or do you want to be distinguished from them?
Here in Australia a company has started called VIRGIN STAR http://www.virginstar.com.au/ ~they are an internet & IT service provider. They have gained a huge amount of exposure, because they have used both the name Virgin, from the Richard Branson empire, and Star, we have a fleet of planes here called Jet Star. The simple choice of their name has gained them a huge amount of exposure.
Another story ~ a client of mine ran a well known business in a county of England. A similar sounding business started up in the next suburb. There business wee not similar the new business sold training infrastructure such as projectors. My clients business used to receive cheques (b.t.w. Correct spelling here in oz?), in his companies name, that were probably intended for the other company. Well of course he would give the money back…but he also received orders that were intended for the other company, purchase orders would come through on his fax machine…he would source the equipment, and sell it to them making a tidy & easy profit.
I always say if you have a product or a service that someone will pay money for then you have a business. Yes there is a market for generating innovative & catchy names. Online you can visit http://www.namingtoolbox.com/ this websites catch phrase is “The Ultimate Online Guide for Naming Your Business or Product” and includes links to a software product they sell called the NameRazor, plus listing details of naming consultants, who can help you out, if your brainstorming sessions fail. (I have no affiliation with this group – just found them thru a search)
Hope that helps a bit.

Charles asks…
Online business ideas?
I want to start an online business that could make me six or more figures a year. I would also like to enjoy the benifits from working at home instead of my long hours at the firm. However, I am clueless on which online business model I should use to make six or more figures a year. The models I would prefer to work with are….
1. Ecommerce model where I sell something. What should I sell though?
2. Website with lots of content that has ad revenue and affiliate products revenue bringing me cash.
3. A user interactive websites such as auction sites, or social network sites. My ideas are a website where users can submit original songs and other users can listen comment rate and share with friends. Another idea is a website where users can sell trade and buy giftcards. I would make money from these sites through ad revenue.
So which online business model do you think is best? Could any of these online business ideas make me six or more figures a year? If you say I should do ecommerce, what product (no info products) should I sell that are profitable? Thank you!

Jere answers:
I like selling products that are 100% recession proof. No matter how bad the economy gets… People will still turn on their lights & still take warm showers. You need no inventory, justa desire to save people money on their Gas & Electric they are alredy using. Get paid a comission & residual for each client you sign up & help save up to 10% on the utilities the are Already Using. YOU Could Make A 6 Figure Income in 6-months or less. Have a friend that just signed a group of Hospitals that will soon be receiving a check for over $4,000 a month, Month after Month after Month untill they are tired of saving money. Many other products as well as energy (Telecom, Healthcare & Legal services). Know a lady in florida that has signed over 400 businesses up CA & is earning a 6 figure income IN LESS THAN A MONTH. Ca is the newest state to open up (April). Currently saving residential over 10% in MI, NY & NJ.

merchant services..Anyone been successful with this credit card business?
Just curious. I got the package today, and there’s a LOT of reading that goes along with it.
I would like to hear if anyone has been successful with Merchant Services.
Thank you.
thanks for your answer.
I haven’t started yet, but this has to do with lowering business‘ processing fees every time they use a credit card.
this isn’t having ‘business credit cards’.
Thank you.

John asks…
How do you get financing for a small business?

Jere answers:
This is advice on small business financing from the Federal Consumer Information Center and the Small Business Administration:
One key to a successful business start-up or expansion is your ability to obtain appropriate financing. Raising capital is the most basic of all business activities. There are several sources to consider when looking for financing. Explore all your options before making a decision. These include:
personal savings,
friends and relatives,
banks, Co-operative Societies and credit unions
venture capital firms
Customers/Clients
Private Equity
Angel Investors
Industries Development Board of Governments/States
To be successful in obtaining a small business loan, you must be prepared and organized. You must know exactly how much financing you need, why you need it, and how you will pay it back. You must be aware of the bank’s loan policies. Lending institutions generally require fully secured loans and sufficient commitment of capital by the borrower.
Small Business Loans
The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) assists small business owners to start and expand their businesses by helping them get loans through private banks and financial institutions.
SBA Loans for Veterans – offers a few loan programs to assist veterans and members of the military community
USDA Rural Development Loans – If your business is located in a rural community, you might consider the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has a Business and Industry (B&I) Guaranteed Loan Program.
Other federal loan programs serving small business concerns, visit GovLoans.gov, the U.S. Government’s central database of government loan programs.
State and Local Loan Programs – Many state and local governments also offer low-interest loan programs that they guarantee through commercial lenders. Contact your local Small Business Development Center to get assistance with locating state and local funding sources for your small business.
Venture Capital Financing
Small Business Investment Companies (SBIC) – In 1958, Congress created the Small Business Investment Companies (SBIC) program to help small U.S. Companies raise capital. SBIC’s are privately owned and managed investment firms that provide venture capital and start-up financing to small businesses.
Active Capital (formerly Angel Capital Electronic Network – ACE-Net) -Active Capital is a nationwide listing service that connects entrepreneurs with angel investors. Potential investors can obtain information on start-ups and expanding small businesses seeking $250,000 to $5,000,000 in venture capital. Active Capital’s main benefit is that it allows entrepreneurs to directly access a nationwide network of investors while complying with federal and state securities regulations.
There are lots of places you can get funding for a small business idea. Avoid people offering quick money solutions online – instead, approach respected lenders, trusts, and groups that specialize in small businesses – you can find a lot of help from your local government, and many banks offer special advisers too.
Write a good plan that covers your first year to 18 months of trading. Do a basic cash flow forecast so that you can show trends in how well your business will do – is demand all year round, or seasonal? Often business are profitable in the long term, but it is short cash flow issues that cause problems – when you have you pay your bills with 30 days, for example, but your customers don’t pay you for 45 – you will need to show that you always have enough money to cover your expenses.
SBA does offer some grant programs, these are generally designed to expand and enhance organizations that provide small business management, technical, or financial assistance. These grants generally support non-profit organizations, intermediary lending institutions, and state and local governments.

does folica sell real ghd straighteners?
I want to get a classic ghd flat iron on folica.com. it is listed for $185.00, but the average retail price everywhere else is at least $255. Before answering, could you do some research. I’ve been sitting at my computer trying to figure out if i should trust folica for the last 3 hrs!!! PLZ HELP!!!! IM DESPERATE!!!!

Jere answers:
Hi – I work at Folica.com and can assure you that we’re a legit biz and do not sell fake merchandise. But you don’t have to take my word for it: we have an excellent rating from the US Better Business Bureau and earn “outstanding” on bizrate, which is based entirely on customer reviews.
I hope you’re happy with your GHD! Lk

Paul asks…
Is www.unionpharmacy.biz a real website or a fake?
i am interested in purchasing some medications from this website, but since it’s in Canada, i don’t know if this a real site or a scam. Has anyone used this site before?

Jere answers:
I don’t know if it’s a scam but when you go to check out it’s an http instead of a secure https payment page, meaning anyone can steal the credit card details you enter
They also provide NO address on their contact page so you have no way to know where they are based. It’s easy to pretend they are in Canada – but if they are actually in Canada then why don’t they have a Canadian phone number to call?
Do you really want to take a chance buying drugs from a company you know nothing about, you have no idea they aren’t selling fake drugs, and you have no idea they aren’t just going to charge up your card? The FTC has a warning about all the counterfeit drugs being sold online
http://www.fda.gov/Drugs/ResourcesForYou/Consumers/BuyingUsingMedicineSafely/BuyingMedicinesOvertheInternet/default.htm

Sandra asks…
is ?home-profits.biz? website is real or scam?

Jere answers:
Depends on what you are seeking. IAfter reviewing the website, I can tell you if you are looking for a online job this is not it.
If you are looking for a home business, I would continue my search because the website is lacking some key elements that shows me that they are only making money selling you the 49.99 ebook on how to find places to make money. So, not to say the information is not viable but there are other businesses out there that are better worth your time.

Jenny asks…
Good real estate brokers?!?
What are some of the best companies in Colorado for a new real estate licensee to join in order to receive the best training?? Here in Georgia it seems to be GMAC/Metro Brokers (which is not the same as the Metro Brokers in Colorado). Someone please tell me the best, not just the quickest or cheapest, companies to consider. Also, I would prefer a company that offers lots of support and does commercial real estate along with residential. Thank you!

Jere answers:
In Real Estate, BRANDING is everything! Having name recognition, logo recognition, etc. Will help prosper a business.
I’m quite fond of my parent company, but it may not be for everyone. I am always pleased to say that I work for a worldwide company!
If you can partner with someone in the biz, that will help launch your career and move you forward! The best teacher is doing it… You will become proficient in writing contracts, etc. As time passes, and with having someone keeping you on track — all the better.
Good luck in your decision!

Your Questions About Email Marketing Services

Donald asks…
How do i promote my Fire Water and Mold Restoration Company?
Hello, I have worked as an executive assistant for an Insurance Restoration company for over 5 years and have bought into a Franchise recentally and want to promote my services to: Adjusters & Property Management Companies. I have a strong graphic design/computer background but minimal marketing experience. I have looked into bigbook.com and generated a list of potential prospects do i just do cold calling to start? I have all marketing material such as brochures/cards/ and portfolios ready.
What do you think of cold calls?
Email Marketing?
Just need some input and direction.
Thanks and God bless!
John

Jere answers:
Dear John,
I sell promotional giveaway items to Servpro, and they go directly to the insurance people, builders, and other prospects and visit everyone in their territory at least once a month with a little desktop promotional item with their information on them. They have our area saturated and have nearly all the business, see those little green and orange vans all over the place, so it must be working.
Some of the items they have given away are rulers, calculators, candy jars, mugs, staplers, magnets, magnetic memo boards, tote bags, door hangers (These are used with a $10 off whole house carpet cleaning coupon, and placed on every house door within a block of where they are working.), cellphone holders, magnetic house shaped clips, clipboards, pens, laminated rolodex cards, highlighters, calendars, CD cleaners, keychains, staple removers, bandaid cases for purses, mirrors, mousepads, house shaped sticky notes, and magnetic picture frames, plus more I cannot even think of right now.
In general, cold calling will get you more results than anything else, because you become a person instead of just an email. You can also do a postcard campaign to your total prospect list giving an overview of what you do, your benefits to the adjusters & property managers, and why they should choose you. Have your photo, your contact information, your experience, etc all on the mailing. Use a full color, large size postcard, and take advantage of free use of a bulk mail permit or mailing service offered. Or just stamp it yourself, using a really cool first class stamp. I often use superhero or moviestar stamps to get attention.
Sometimes they just go in with refills for the candy jar or baked goods. You could even have a bakery customise some sugar cookies with your colors and logo.
Their budget is only a few hundred dollars a month for giveaways, but there are so many things that can be done up for that, and it makes each of your callsEmail marketing can work AFTER you have an established rapport with the customers. You could use it in conjunction, with a little industry newsletter that has relevant information to them, as well as any of your customer testimonials, and a coupon or something.
Hope this helps! I have included a couple of websites that have additional information you might be helped by. Congratulations on your new company, and all the best to you!

William asks…
What is the best marketing software for a small business?
I’d like to know what the best marketing software for a small business. What do other people use?

Jere answers:
There is a ton of software out there. No software will do everything! You need to decide what you want out of a software program. Some software will hurt your efforts if you do not use it wisely.
The best places to market your business is social sites. They are free and very popular.
If you are are a small business with a local location that consumers come into and not just online then Local marketing online is the way to go ( google local, yahoo local, twitter, facebook, myspace, Customer list very important for email marketing ).
Take the time and find some webinars that will help you look at what type of marketing you need for your business.
I would start with twitter, facebook, and myspace. Then look up keywords that you think a customer would put in google to find your business.
I will be having a free webinar for about 20 people coming up soon on twitter and how to use it for small business.
An excellent example of using Twitter as a marketing tool, as a customer service avenue and as a Community Builder is Zappos.
Let me know what kind of business it is and I may be able to be more specific on what tools you can use to promote it.

Mark asks…
How do you start a paypal account to get paid for services online?
I have one for shopping online but have a good idea for services online and want to know if a paypal account for this is a good idea and how it works. BB…~M~

Jere answers:
Well it depends on what you are trying to do. I actually have an account as well that I use to get paid for services. I upgraded my account to a merchant account. This allows me to get paid for my social marketing services and my online products. You can most certainly get another account but it has to be a different bank account. I have like four different bank accounts. What I did for my online course is create a paypal button using my merchant account and placed it on my sales page.
You can take a peak at my sales page by going to http://www.viralflamemarketing.com to see how I use mine. Look at the bottom and you will see I have my paypal button. If you need more information on how to set one up I can create a short video for you showing you where inside the paypal account you need to look to create a merchant account. I can even show you how to set up a payment button. Just let me know if this is something you need and I will create the video as a free tutorial.
To contact me go to the contact us section of my website and let me know if this is something that would help you and leave me your email address.

Ken asks…
I got an email with a request to forward it to others so that my sender gets money?
Yesterday I received a mail from someone who says she has her hands in a terrorist attack and has requested me to forward this mail to others and the same request to them and with every mail sent, the original sender (to me) will get a fixed 1 cent or so per mail. Is it true? Do they really get money? Or a hoax? Or a marketing gimmick by the email service provider?

Jere answers:
That is a form of “chain mail”.
AND chain Mails have a hidden agenda.
Any time you get an email that says—“forward this on to 10 (or whatever number) of your friends”, or>>”sign this petition”, or>>”you’ll have good luck/special blessings”, or>>that poor little cancer ridden girl in Florida, gets 50 cents per forward—-you can be pretty sure the “host” sender (usually an “address harvester”) has attached an email tracker program or Beacon which sends them a copy of every address you send it to.
The only purpose of the address harvesters is to get as many addresses as they can to sell to spammers, and they use “scare” tactic, or promises of wealth, to get you to forward it on and provide them with more addresses
If you feel that you MUST forward them—–at least put all your recipients on the BCC line (which hides their addresses).

Your Questions About Direct Marketing Definition

Laura asks…
How do I search for/identify an ad agency to help me build a brand for my startup company?
Looking for a small to midsize firm that will be focussed on my needs yet be reasonably priced and prepared to handle additional needs as we grow. Immediate needs include branding, logo design, messaging, collateral, and web design. With so many options how do I narrow my search?

Jere answers:
Don’t.
In my experience and opinion an advertising agency will not provide the best return on your investment.
This is based on more than 10 years working on marketing for small to mid-sized companies (1-12 million in annual revenue). Creative houses and advertising agencies charge more for the end product than you can get elsewhere and most importantly they generally do NOT craft your marketing positioning. Advertising agencies can create very visually appealing collateral and can match the image that you define for them, but the typical advertising agency will not take the time to learn your specific business and as such can not adequately recommend the image you should project to the market.
Look for an independent. As someone stated in an earlier response, find them by browsing local company sites and identifying the ones you like the best and feel are the most compelling. Then call those companies, get in touch with the person responsible for their site and be direct with them. Ask them who produced the site, but even more important in my opinion ask them who crafted the message, wrote the copy, and determined the corporate identity. (Important – start by telling them why you are calling them – i.e. That you found their site to be the most impressive and give them specific reasons.) This or these, are the people you want to get in contact with. If it is a single person (and the company is not too large) and that person is employed by the company ask the person you are speaking to point blank if it would create any complication for you to solicit off hours temporary contract work from that person. You will be surprised, especially if the person you are talking to is this individuals direct boss, they generally will be glad to help their people find additional outside work. As director of marketing and communication I LIKED my people doing outside work. It kept them sharp and helped keep them from getting stuck in a creative rut developing the same content over and over again for our company.
I want to make this point very clearly, because I have seen so many companies make this mistake: You MUST define your target image first before engaging in any branding. Your target image must be based on a clear and thoughtful understanding of your target audience and business sector as well as your marketing strategy, product offering and key distinguishing value propositions. It can NOT be emotional or subjectively biased – i.e. “You just like the way this or that looks”.
Does you business sell to other businesses or to consumers? If your company sells services or products to other businesses your marketing message is far more critical than your graphic identity. Even if you are a B2C company Marketing comes before branding. You need to identify the following:
Who is your target audience?
Why do they want your product?
Why would they not buy someone else’s product instead of yours?
What do they value most? (Creativity, stability, customer service, convenience, turn-key solutions, ease of use etc)
What are their pain-points and how does your product overcome them?
What distinguishes your product or service from the rest of the competition?
The answers to these questions should identify the image you want to create. Go out on the web and find companies that are successful in your exact business model or in a similar sector. Review their image and branding strategies. Benchmark them as the beginning foundation for your corporate identity, then modify from there based on your company’s key distinguishers.
If you don’t feel qualified to do this yourself find someone who is and can. Your message and your identity are the source of everything else produced for your company. If you don’t have that definition in place then the best creative design work will not help you.
I have seen organizations with hideous, and I do mean hideous graphic design and corporate branding doing 9 million annually with fortune 500 clients based solely on the strength of their marketing message. (I’m talking about datasheets literally created and printed directly from PowerPoint here.) I have likewise seen companies with incredibly slick designs selling absolutely nothing because the copy on their website and in their marketing collaterals simply does not communicate any value, continuity, or even demonstrate an understanding of their target audiences needs.
I am a very strong proponent of professionally designed branding and image, but without the marketing message as the seed for this branding, and as the legs to carry it to a sale, it is worthless.
Graphic design work: corporate logo (and branding), datasheets and product slicks, websites, business cards and more can be outsourced to independent freelance designers. Specify in detail the image you are trying to convey and they can produce it, at a fraction of the cost if sourced through a creative house.
A logo can be accomplished for $500.00 or less.
A datasheet (if you write the copy) can be accomplished for less than $1,500.00.
Webpage templates (and you need maybe 4 templates for a startup website) can be sourced for as little as $500.00 per template. Then adding pages to the site should be a matter of sourcing a couple new images and dropping in content. If outsourced to an independent new pages from templates could cost in the area of $100 – $200 and less if no new graphics are required.
Compare those costs to what a creative or advertising agency quotes.
The most critical talent for you to find early on is someone who understands your product and its unique value in the industry and can clearly bear that out through product positioning and solid copy. Everything else can be outsourced, but this talent needs a strong and long term relationship with your company.
It takes time to learn your product and more time to craft and hone the message.
Best Regards

David asks…
What is the definition of “meltdown?” Which definition better describes our national debt?
1. A process goes out of control and causes an unstoppable rise in temperature, until the entire system liquifies into a pool of molten materials under chaotic and unmanageable circumstances; or
2. A system is purposefully placed on a source of high heat, until the entire system liquifies into a pool of molten materials under carefully controlled and directed circumstances.
BONUS QUESTION: Which definition better describes what is happening to the national debt?

Jere answers:
National debt is like a nuclear bomb if you don’t let anyone use it it will not blow up. Debt is just paper we have inflation severely which we need the job market to meet with and they are not so we are still in debt, inflation helps us pay the national debt but employers are refusing to play the game by not raising wages it is their fault.

How did trickled-down economics help create Egyptian Society?
I have a history report due and i really have no idea where to start?
Please Help!

Jere answers:
Egypt’s rise to becoming a powerhouse market in the Middle East and North Africa was given a large boost two years when Egyptian Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Nazif’s government took steps to boost foreign direct investment, implement tax reforms and privatise several large enterprise organisations. In many cases, the knock-on effect of those moves has trickled down into the channel and provided a far more wholesome market for vendors and resellers to get their teeth into.

The economy of pharaonic Egypt has been called an ancient command economy, but one should always remember that such modern definitions are not as apt as one would hope for. Still, there was a specialized bureaucracy which monitored or controlled much of its activity, one of the hallmarks of planned economies. On the other hand, the officials – as state employees and not as private landowners or managers of state farms – probably did not tell farmers what to grow. But they remeasured and reassigned the land after every inundation – based on past assignments, assessed the expected crops, collected part of the produce as taxes, stored and redistributed it. Storage and redistribution were generally done on a local basis. Regional facilities provided produce in case there was a shortfall in one of the local centres.

Chris asks…
How to get rid of acne the fastest and cheapest way? preferably home remedies?
I’m 16 and i have rarely ever had acne. i was really lucky, and i used proActive every night. But this past month, i have has a lot of little blemishes all over my face, like under the skin so they are hard to treat.
My friends just say it’s stress related, and that’s why they started showing up now.
What’s the fastest and cheapest way to clear acne under the skin? Preferably a home remedy because i’m not allowed to buy any beauty products.

Jere answers:
The very word “acne” conjures in many people’s minds either past or present struggles with self image, embarrassment and feelings of helplessness if they’ve ever suffered this skin condition, or are currently suffering varying degrees of acne.
Our skin’s appearance is very important to us personally of course, but it seems to have been only made more important by the emphasis of “flawless skin” in beauty magazines, tabloids and other media outlets that our society has become so enthralled with. It’s no wonder that the skincare industry has enjoyed growth and profits in leaps and bounds over the past fifteen to twenty years.
So, what can you do, besides enlist the help of an expensive dermatologist or skin care spa to help combat acne and prevent new breakouts on your own, for next to nothing – or better yet, free? Well, we will focus on things you can change in your diet to get rid of or dramatically reduce acne breakouts, since what we put in our mouths is more key for the skin’s appearance and health than most people may think.
There are many schools of thought on what to avoid and what to include in the diet if you are to attain and maintain clear skin. However, one thing remains pretty clear, and that is the avoidance of sugary foods and caffeine. I cannot tell you how many times I have experienced major breakouts that I can directly attribute to the consumption of sugar or caffeine in excess.
Sure, it’s ok to have a sweet snack (a small one!) here and there, and not suffer the consequences of a few new pimples, but by and large it is prudent to either strictly limit sugar or try to eradicate it all together if you have problem skin.
Sugar has many destructive properties that are bad for overall health, but it’s recently also been proven to have properties that accelerate the aging process of the skin when chemically broken down by our bodies, and also to lend a hand in the inflammation of skin cells.
Inflammation is a direct cause of acne, since it is, by definition an inflammatory skin condition, so we can safely say that sugar is indeed a category of food to be avoided in the quest to be acne free, oh and also to keep your skin young too!
OK, enough about sugar, now let’s move onto to another culprit behind acne. Caffeine can have similar effects on the skin to sugar, since it actually may increase inflammation, especially in some people who are more caffeine-sensitive than others (like myself).
With all the super caffeinated beverages out on the market today, it’s no wonder we’re all not walking around with broken out faces. I suspect that teens especially are susceptible to the caffeinated drink rage, which is unfortunate because they may be unknowingly aggravating their skin and causing breakouts at the age where they are more apt to break out anyway.
Caffeine can also produce an uneven and “bumpy” texture of the skin. Beverages aren’t the only culprit either, since there are many supplements, pills and diet aids that contain stimulants that will break your skin out faster than you can say “energy”. Caffeinated drinks and other products containing stimulants should be avoided if you want to avoid rough, broken out skin.
If you want to try to neutralize inflammation caused by eating foods that increase skin volatility as mentioned above, a good suggestion is to start drinking lemon water.
Not only is drinking lemon juice infused water a refreshing difference from plain old water, but water with about an eighth of a lemon (preferably organic) squeezed into it can help neutralize acidity in the body caused by acid-producing foods, which in turn limits inflammation.
Seriously, begin to drink lemon juice infused water for a few days and I’d be surprised if you don’t see at least a little difference in the way your skin looks.
If you want to get really adventurous, add a sprinkle or two of cinnamon, again preferably organic, to your water, and you may also enjoy a bit of a revved up metabolism as well as a more stabilized blood sugar level, as research is showing cinnamon has excellent benefits for blood sugar stabilization. Why do I mention blood sugar? Well, because a stable blood sugar level helps to lower inflammation, and it also helps reduce the effects of stress and anxiety which can trigger higher levels of androgens in the body, which are the very hormones that cause acne.
And there you have it, free or very cheap, easily incorporated, and dare I say “pleasant” ways to combat acne. Not only do these suggestions help reduce breakouts, they are also generally beneficial to your health in other numerous ways. Who says everyone needs a dermatologist or expensive skin care regimens to achieve pristine skin?

Richard asks…
How would developing as well as developed countries’ pursuit of self interests violate fair trade?
It would be great if you could provide me with some info on the cons of fair trade, thanks!

Jere answers:
I´m not sure, whether this is what do you want?, Ok:
Look in this definition:
“Fair Trade is a trading partnership, based on dialogue, transparency and respect, that seeks greater equity in international trade. It contributes to sustainable development by offering better trading conditions to, and securing the rights of, marginalized producers and workers – especially in the South.”
Is clear, according to the concept, what is the reach of the fair trade, particularly into the third world countries.
The fair trade certification, is required, of course, it means a lot compromises.
This explanation, help us to understand it:
“Fair Trade Certification empowers farmers and farm workers to lift themselves out of poverty by investing in their farms and communities, protecting the environment, and developing the business skills necessary to compete in the global marketplace. ”
The Fair Trade principles include:
_”Fair price: Democratically organized farmer groups receive a guaranteed minimum floor price and an additional premium for certified organic products. Farmer organizations are also eligible for pre-harvest credit.”
_”Fair labor conditions: Workers on Fair Trade farms enjoy freedom of association, safe working conditions, and living wages. Forced child labor is strictly prohibited. ”
_”Direct trade: With Fair Trade, importers purchase from Fair Trade producer groups as directly as possible, eliminating unnecessary middlemen and empowering farmers to develop the business capacity necessary to compete in the global marketplace. ”
_”Democratic and transparent organizations: Fair Trade farmers and farm workers decide democratically how to invest Fair Trade revenues. ”
_”Community development: Fair Trade farmers and farm workers invest Fair Trade premiums in social and business development projects like scholarship programs, quality improvement trainings, and organic certification. ”
_”Environmental sustainability: Harmful agrochemicals and GMOs are strictly prohibited in favor of environmentally sustainable farming methods that protect farmers’ health and preserve valuable ecosystems for future generations. ”
When the market rate, exceed the minimum fair trade, price a premium needs to be paid. The main drawback of fair trade, is the high price of the product, because such a certification involves compliance with the principles mentioned above, translated economically, raises producer prices of these consumer goods.
Any violation of the fair trade principles, maybe implicates, to take out or invalid, the international certification, which by the magnitude of it, farmers can lose, distribution facilities and selling these products to the high price levels, which are paid.

Your Questions About Business Online

Michael asks…
What kind of products would you buy from an online pet shop?
Im thinking of starting up a small business online, what kind of products would you buy for your pets? Like treats, accessories etc? For all ranges of animals I suppose, reptiles, dogs, rodents, cats etc?
Id want to sell them cheaply, but not import cheap rubbish, so something that you’d like to buy, maybe things you can’t get so cheap in shops?

Jere answers:
I would buy anything but food … I shop online for mostly everything i need for my fish, dog, and hermit crabs … I like online stores that clearly state where they ship too … I can not stand going to a website and having to spend 20 minutes figuring out if they ship to canada … I like websites that will accept paypal … I like websites that do not try to make money by inflated shipping charges … I ordered online a hermit crab decoration, paid over 20 dollars in shipping, and when it arrived the shipping was only 6 dollars and the decoration was shipped in the original box so no packing material was used to increase the cost … I will not deal with those people again …

Robert asks…
How can a teen start an online business?
I was wondering if a teen could make a website and sell items on it. Or use any website. What websites will let you do that for free?
Please give any tips on how to start a successful business online.
Thanks in advance!

Jere answers:
Hi Julia,
The answer is most definitely Yes!
Here is a brief overview – My advice is to follow these steps (in this order);
1. Find a subject that you feel really interested in, your ‘Niche’ which will become the main subject of your website.
2. Decide to become a real expert in your chosen subject, gather all the information you can and really work to understand it all.
3. Carry out searches in the most popular search engines to see who your competition are in this specific area, visit all the websites in the top 10 results to see what content they are offering and what their website looks like and how they are laid out – this will give you lots of ideas for your own website. As you are going though all these websites remember to take notes and save all the website addresses with your notes so you can refer back to them later and monitor them.
4. Check to see if there are adverts around the search engine results, this will give you some idea of the money being spent to your niche, if people are spending money advertising then normally other people are buying.
5. Look for existing products that relate to your niche that you can sell for a percentage of the sales price (Affiliate Programs) start with Clickbank where there’s lots of good advice about how to make money online.
6. You will find free ‘keyword research tools’ online where you can put in your main niche description and you will see all the words and phrases that people are searching for and how many times, this will give you lots of ideas for things to include in your website.
7. Find a domain name (shouldn’t cost more that $10) that included the words that describe your niche. If you choose to use a free website service then point your domain to it, or, you can setup your own server for around $50 per year.
8. Start to create content that is written with the objective of answering your visitor’s questions and giving them solutions to their problems – people search the internet mainly to learn something or find an answer to a problem, your websites success will depend on how well you satisfy these requirements.
9. You will then mix your content (text and images) with information of a suitable product, or products, that you found earlier
10. You then start to promote your website in places that relate to your niche such as in forums, commenting on blogs, facebook, twitter (create accounts using your niche keywords) and you can even use ‘Pay Per Click’ advertising if you have some money available.
If you want much more detailed information you can download a free eBook at Carl Henry Global.
Good luck!
Carl

Mandy asks…
How would I ship off packages for my own online business?
I’m starting a little phone case business online and I want to know if I could just bring each package, the packages are going to be real small, to my local post office to ship out to my customers. Is that a good way to ship, or is there another/better way to handle this process?
@Marmar: Thanks for that tip!
@McMike: Thanks for that information. I’m not expecting to have a huge business, but now I know what I should do to be safe. Thanks again!

Jere answers:
Austin, you can do it anyway you choose. Preferably whatever will make your customers happy. What you should do is give yourself a window time of say 3-5 days to ship out once its paid for so that you’re not making hundreds of trips to the post office each week.
What would really help even better, is if collect all your shipping materials and create a certain cut off time in processing orders, to allow yourself time to package everything and pass on to the mailman whenever he shows up. That’s basically how it’s done with UPS.
Remember though that if start getting really busy and you do use UPS then it could be issue with the city in zoning and permits. That’s actually complicating the process right now anyway but that’s just a heads up for future references. Right now. I’d stick to the US mail and handing to everything to the mailman to save time, gas, and to speed up your shipping out process.

Thomas asks…
What kind of business can i do online?
I want to do some business online and want to get one or tow associates to do it with me.i lack of the knowledge of computer, but can do accounting and management. So what thing can i do online?

Jere answers:
Your lack of computer knowledge is not holding you back. I can develop your website, and even if you hired a professional design company the costs are so low you wont even notice. What you lack is a business idea. This is what we all lack. Many people have the skills to run some part of business or other, but the people that are successful have the foresight to develop an idea that will work. Spend some time developing your idea for the web. You can hire out any work that you need. The only work you cannot hire out is the business idea.

Charles asks…
How do I create an internet access page for my home network?
I want to create a page that will sit on my home server that everyone who intends to use the internet (through my network) must view. They must enter a username and password to be granted access. How do i go about this?

Jere answers:
I assume you have a residential internet connection (DSL or Cable) and a typical home router with wireless. You need to change your router to use RADIUS authentication, or you need to change your home network to incorporate a ‘captive portal’ like you encounter at some internet cafes, libraries, and other areas that offer internet access (free or for a fee).
See the Wikipedia entry for a start.
Check your home router’s documentation — very few include captive portal features in factory firmware, but some small-business model like ZyXel have that feature. Your router may support RADIUS authentication, but you’ll need to set up a RADIUS server on your home server or an alternative box.
If your router firmware does not support RADIUS or includes a captive portal, check for your router in one of the third-party firmware sites like DD-WRT or CoovaAP. You probably still need to work with a web server and/or radius server on your local network to support the captive portal login.
I do not have experience, but consider Untangle Lite. This is s free router package that includes a Captive Portal. Untangle has a reputation for ease of use. However, this requires creating a box that sits between your guest network and the internet. You may need to add a second wireless access point or router to provide guest wireless access that goes through the Untangle router.

Helen asks…
What is a profitible market to start your own business in?
I am 22 and i have a B.S in Business. I want to start my own business but there is so much out there it’s hard to decide what to do.

Jere answers:
I think if you sell business structures and set ups to trades people, this would be a way to go. Lets say a trades person is running their business and is doing a rotten job at it. You could sell them a package on a hard drive to help them run a business. In the package would be instructions, spread sheets and data bases ready for set up and running.
A business model would be included that would detail a company structure and wage chart. Cappings and plans and distribution of incoming cash could be pre-determined. You could even include a communications package including web pages and Internet services.
Is that what you had in mind?

Richard asks…
How come blackberry internet is so slow compared to other internet?
On other phones the internet seems to be a lot faster.
Why is it so slow.
Also why are blackberry’s so expensive when they are not even that good?

Jere answers:
First, you are paying for the brand name, and that the Blackberry is a business phone.
Many people buy the phone for personal use, but never even use it for what it’s designed for, Push-Mail.
Depending on what carrier you have the phone on, and the model you have, the phone may not be able to support 3G speeds. You can check your model online and see if it can do 3G.
If it can, and it’s not the carrier incompatibility, then it may just have a slow processor. Nothing you can do about that.
Hope this helps.

Your Questions About Doing Business Online World

Chris asks…
do i need a business license to sell online?
i’d like to build a website and sell foods from around the world

Jere answers:
You do not need a business license to sell online. However, if you’re willing to sell foods from around the world and willing to deal with real wholesale suppliers, you need a sales tax id or reseller’s certificate. Most legitimate wholesalers will always ask for it, so make sure you apply for one. You can check with your state agency, or google it online.

Susan asks…
Do online degrees really work in the real world?
like university of phoenix type of online schools..

Jere answers:
As long as you obtain your degree from a regionally accredited college it should be recognized by potential employers and other academic institutions. That having been said not all online colleges are viewed the same just as not all campus colleges are viewed the same. Even within the same college the business school can be viewed more positively than say the nursing school. That is why it is so important to contact a number of schools to find the right program for you and your needs (tuition, schedule, professor interaction, and reputation by potential employers). The beauty of taking classes online is that you are not limited by geography so you can make sure you choose the absolute best college for you.
This site has some good information on regionally accredited online degrees and some colleges to help begin/expand your search:

Sandy asks…
how can i do a online business?
how can i earn money via online

Jere answers:
Ah…yes. Before delving into my detailed answer, I figure I will offer you warning of the previous two. If you search for any Yahoo! Answer to do with online business, both of those users are there and both always present the same answer. In short, they may be trying a bit too hard to recruit you.
I actually am involved with two online businesses. One, I am embarrassed to say i sunk a bunch of money into course after course to learn the ropes of online marketing and it finally paid off. I am now profiting with a few niche sites through e-commerce.
The other one I am involved with is network marketing and actually is much more profitable. This one actually took me less time to expand and has paid some dividends.
If you are selling stuff online you will need an online shopping cart so visitors to your website can pay you. You can use Prestashop which is actually free shopping cart software (no strings attached) and upload that through your web host.
A web host is what actually hosts your website so it is visible to online world. Next you will need a website name. This should usually be relevant to the products you are selling online. I would suggest selling things that interest you and go from there.
Also, you will either need to hire someone who is a professional in online marketing and does so far a living to drive traffic to the site or learn the ropes on your own which could take months and even years to master.
You could also search for an online business opportunity. Many of them are scams and the best way to check is to visit the Better Business Bureau to see if they have too many unresolved complaints (or any at all for that matter). Also, if a contact number is provided call it to make certain someone is actually at the other end of the line and it’s not a fly-by-night.
Hope this helps!

Lizzie asks…
HOW TO OPEN AN ONLINE STORE?
i really want to open an online store / business but i dont know what to sell or how to get started. so what do you buy most online? are there any websites that show you how to start an online business? thank you.

Jere answers:
1 Choose a tightly focused theme or niche for your online store around something that you are passionate or knowledgeable about. By focusing on a specific theme for your store, you’ll garner a competitive advantage over other stores that are larger and forced to be broader in nature. This specific focus will give your store more credibility, and will position you to provide detailed information about certain kinds of products. Customers will appreciate the level of coverage you provide on a given subject, which will be helpful for making purchasing decisions. Essentially, this focus gives your store a right to exist.
2 Choose an underlying infrastructure for your online store. Many people are surprised to learn that there are now a number of ecommerce services that allow you to start an online store for free, or for limited cost. One good free way to get started is to open a Vendio store:
Vendio’s new ecommerce solution is game-changing because it allows you to start a real online store with a full commercial feature-set, for free. Given all the features, setting up an online store with Vendio will take a few hours of work, but its worth it. There are a number of solutions available that are similar to Vendio’s for a price range of $40 to $300 per month.
Another way to get started quickly is to open a Zlio store.
With Yahoo, you’ll pay a monthly fee in exchange for the framework of an online store. The upside of Yahoo is that you can sell, carry, and fulfill your own inventory of products (rather than outsourcing it through Zlio or CafePress). The downside of Yahoo is that, well, you get to fulfill your own inventory of products.
Lastly, I’m going to give a quick mention to FlyingCart, which offers a service similar to Yahoo’s but with less expensive monthly fees.
With FlyingCart, you get the basic architecture/framework of an online store and generally have to pay a monthly fee less than that of Yahoo. There are also some interesting social networking features. It lets you sell, carry, and fulfill your own inventory.
3 Build-out your product inventory. Be careful to put the best products at the top of the page. Product placement counts and studies have shown that products placed at the top of the page tend to sell the best. Keep your inventory of products fresh. Try to write reviews that will help your customers make better puchasing decisions. Stay true to the theme of your store. Stay focused.
4 Promote your store. Remember, this is not Field of Dreams. “If you build it they will come” will not apply to our new store! As entrepreneurs, its up to us to generate interest in our own online store. You should strongly consider writing some helpful articles about the products in your store and publishing them [give squidoo a try for this]. For instance, on my hot sauce store, The Hot Sauce Collector, I wrote a series of articles about The Hottest Hot Sauce In The World. These articles help my customers find the hottest hot sauces and consistently drive traffic to my site.
5 Manage and track your web store. Now that you’ve put all this energy into creating an online store, don’t you want to see how many visitors you have and how they found your site? Sign up for free Google analytics.
TIPS
This is not field of dreams! “If you build it they will come” will not apply to our new store! It’s up to us as entrepreneurs to create interest in our new store.
Work hard to offer information that will help customers with buying decisions. Trust me — they’ll appreciate it.
Consider writing an article about your store’s products. As mentioned in step 4, this could improve your search engine listings and will certainly improve your credibility.
Don’t try to ‘boil the ocean’ and be all things to all people. Try to be disciplined about your store’s focus on a specific theme.
Remember to stay focused and be patient.
Watch out for affiliate marketing schemes, ads touting work from home businesses or “online businesses”.
In particular, watch out for large upfront costs. There are now plenty of free services for starting an online store – this is a great way to get started with no upfront cost and see if starting an online store is for you.

Your Questions About Internet Marketing Blog

Daniel asks…
Can Anyone suggest an excellent Affiliate Network that caters to Pay-per-lead program?
i am planning to venture into Internet marketing. since i don’t have time to create a product of my own, i would rathre do Affiliate marketing on pay per lead program. I just think that this is easier than pay per sale and more lucrative than pay per click.
What do you think? I am on the right track?
I am an overseas worker away from family so i am looking for additional income so i can go home for good and still have some source of income.

Jere answers:
I don’t want to dash your hopes, but none of these are going to create you the income you may hope and desire. The market is all ready over saturated with this and to even make a dent you would have to create some extremely powerful ad copy to make you stand out beyond everyone else.
So many people do this and just spend time clicking, submitting, etc. And never make much of anything despite what ads proclaim. What’s worse than this is those who sell subscriptions to help boost your income and make it easier. The only income being boosted is by the one who just took your money.
After having tried all this ‘easy stuff and free stuff’ over and over again. I gave up, rolled up my sleeves, found a good solid 5 pillars company and started marketing for them. Yes, starting a home based business requires a small investment, however, after you spend enough trying different things that don’t work and start adding up what you have spent, you could have started in the right direction the first time. Just my thoughts.
I wrote a blog on advice for working from home. There is a link in the 2nd paragraph of my profile here on answers. I invite you to read it and it’s all generic information. If I can help any further let me know.
~jennifer
If you think you can or think you can’t, either way, you are right!

Jenny asks…
how to make your back links get counted fast?
I am new in internet marketing and in seo. I am doing directory submission, article submission plus blog commenting but i don’t know why i only see few backlinks to my site. Actually i want all my back links to show up in google. How can i make that happen is there any tool or trick.

Jere answers:
Try pinging the url where your back link is placed. Visit www.pingfarm.com and start pinging all your back link pages url and this will make your back links get faster indexed by google.

Mary asks…
how can i improve my real estate business thru internet?
I’m just staying at home most of the time, doing household chores & running a small record bar business at the same time doing internet marketing coz my husband is a licensed real estate broker. How can I contact more buyers thru internet?

Jere answers:
Best to invest in a good website. NAR’s 2005 Profile of Home Buyers and Sellers showed 77% of buyers used the Internet in their search! This is a HUGE number!
Everyone wants to be on page ONE of search results! If you think it will be EZ, I have a good deal on a bridge for you!
Best to….
I personally used a firm (link below) that did a 250,000 site submissions for my site. It worked great. But, results now take a few months.
Also, Get HIGH placement for your KEYWORDS!
Even when indexed by the search engines, it’s not going to help you if your keyword shows up on page 987. Sure, everyone would like their keywords to show up on page one, two or three of the returned results. But, I want to win the lottery! So? What are you going to do? One thing for sure….it will NOT be EZ!
You need GOOD/Informative content! Without this you will be wasting your time on other methods.
Below is some info that can assist you……
When someone types a specific phrase into a major search engine usually the results will show 10 site per page. These ‘organic’ sites are boxed in, usually on all sides by pay-per-click site ads.
So, in SEO theory you have to have your site placed on page one, two or three of the returned organic results to really benefit from the power of the Internet!
As an example. If someone in NY wanted a San Diego real estate broker, they would, perhaps type “San Diego real estate brokers’ into GOOGLE. If you do this today (standings change all the time), after the pay-per-click and the ‘local results’ you’ll see the first site is: www.brokerforyou.com You will also see (upper right)
“Results 1 – 10 of about 5,080,000 for San Diego real estate brokers.”
So, you will see that this one broker’s site (not a major real estate firm) has out ranked over FIVE MILLION other sites for this VERY POPULAR real estate search phrase!!!
Quite impressive!
After looking into the site, I also noted lots, of timely useful info in an EZ to follow site. This is VERY important! As without good ORIGINAL content you’ll NEVER have a top ranking site!
But, I also found on one of the internal pages, the name of the company that does the SEO for this site. They are:
http://www.websitetrafficbuild…
I also visited their site, and found it too had a high Google pagerank. Plus, they had great articles on SEO and software for learning to do your own SEO.
The bad news is that any true SEO work to get on page one of Google is VERY time intensive. Www.websitetrafficbuilders.com has a guaranteed results program…but, as it starts at $3,950.00, it’s really not for the little person.
I have downloaded their free trial SEO software, just a few days ago, so have not used it yet! But, I’m really learing alot for the free software. If they put this into an ebook, I’m sure they could sell quite a few copies!
*Also, on first link below is a website that offers about ten website and blog awards. They are FREE & even provide a link back to your site! Plus, they show the visitors that your site is a noch above the rest. Keep in mind, to get the award you have to have good info on your site and not just junk w/jumping graphics and tons of AdWords!
So, bottom line, GET THEIR FREE TRIAL SOFTWARE and even if you do NOT do anything else…you’ll learn a great deal about SEO from people who make their livelihood DOING IT!

Your Questions About Business Online Services Group

David asks…
Where to leave business cards?
They’re fore pet care and babysitting

Jere answers:
Good places to put your business cards
By Charisse Esmeralde, eHow Contributor
The first step to growing your business is letting people know about the services you provide. Having easily accessible business cards at any given time will optimize your business growth opportunities and expand your industry network. The key to business card placement is utilizing maximum visibility.
Pockets and Purses
No matter which industry you are working in or trying to get into, always carry a stack of business cards on your person. You want to be ready to take advantage of an unscheduled chance introduction to key contacts in your industry outside of a formal one-on-one meeting or group gathering. Do not keep your cards in your back pants pocket, as you want to be able to present a fresh and flat card each time.
Customer Packages or Mailers
Whether you run your own boutique or online store, include your business card with every package you ship to customers. If a customer is pleased with your service, at the very least you gain a loyal customer. You’ll get a bonus of an additional customer when she passes your business card to her friend.
Front Desk
If your job requires you to meet with clients on a regular basis, an efficient area for business cards is right on your office desk. If you are a manager or supervisor in charge of resolving serious customer conflicts or situations, have a stack of your business cards on the receptionist or concierge front desk for easy access.
Personal Space
A good place to keep your business cards if you work in hair or nail salons is in your individual station. As you end each appointment, hand your card to your customer. If she scheduled a walk-in and was pleased with your work, your card will give her the opportunity to schedule her next appointment directly with you.
Checkout Lines
If you are the owner of a small specialty or family store, consider leaving your business cards at each checkout station. If you run a home massage therapy business, leave your cards next to the massage table for clients. They will be able to pick one up after their massage.

Ruth asks…
Need business idea’s?
i want to make 12k passively (preferably online)
& 32k actively
thanku answerer for reminding me, am 100% willing to % in anybody with good ideas.

Jere answers:
Sell stuffs online.
There are three groups of products you can sell online:
– Tangible / physical products like computers, clothing, or books.
– Services like mortgage or insurance.
– Downloadable products like software, ebooks, and music
You can sell on Amazon, eBay or build your own online store.

Helen asks…
Does anybody know anything about this online business thing called, Universal Web Consulting?
I’m very curious because somehow I stumbled onto it, and I really need to know if its just another scam, has anyone worked for them? Or have you heard about them?

Jere answers:
1)Write a press release to announce your business’s latest news then submit it to online press release submission websites and your lcoal media.
2)Engage in article marketing. Submit your articles to numerous article directories, ensuring that your author box includes your business name and URL.
3)Use pay-per-click advertising. Pay-per-click advertising is a fast and easy way to drive traffic to your website, and you have control over how much you spend on each click.
4)If you have an online business, you must build a list of clients and potential clients with whom you can regularly communicate by sending an e-newsletter, for example. Add an opt-in box on your website where, in exchange for something of value such as a free report or a discount on their next purchase, your clients and prospective clients can give you their names and email addresses.
5)Find and join online message boards, discussion groups and lists that are relevant to your product or service then participate in those online discussions. You won’t be able to blatantly promote your product or service in the discussion, but you can promote your online business in your signature lin

Lisa asks…
Business name?
any suggestions? we are actually thinking what will be the best name for our business. it will cater for women of all sizes, from a-e crowd. we will concentrate first for clothes then we will expand. any names? thank you!

Jere answers:
Make sure that it is easy to spell, and pronounce. If someone hears it on the radio, can they google the name, and find you?

Michael asks…
Are phychics real???
People tell me that they are false prophets and such, but I am not talking about prophesying. I am talking about how they are used to solve murders and such. Quite a few murders have been solved using this method. Do you think it should be used?

Jere answers:
When scientists or scholars analyze the specific predictions psychics make, they find that most of the predictions are so general that it is impossible to verify whether or not they are accurate. But the accuracy isn’t the main reason people keep returning to physics. The thing people are looking for isn’t truth but comfort. They want to know that everything will be alright. They want to know in a world that can be confusing and disappointing, there are good things in their future.
Some of the biggest supporters of physics are Hollywood celebrities, whose careers are regularly to roller-coaster ups and downs. Bill Burns is one of the best-known physics to the stars, according to the magazine Entertainment Weekly: “His name is Bill Burns, and Hollywood stars and execs swear by his powers of prediction. Here’s a peek behind the curtain:”
“For a hour-long session, costing $275, the barrel-chested 61-year-old Boston native gives insiders a sixth sense about the biz… Working from the name or photograph of a person a client wants ‘profiled,’ Burns enters a trance-like state. ‘I get an instant knowing about who they are in relationship to the question I’m being asked,’ he says. ‘I can immediately and intuitively visualize the person’s motivations, hot buttons, reliability, and integrity.'”
Even more bizarre is a cable television show called The Pet Psychic, which aired on the Animal Planet network. Host Sonya Fitzpatrick claims to communicate with animals so she can tell their owners what the pets are thinking. “If I was an old fake, dear, they wouldn’t be spending all this money doing my TV show,” says Fitzpatrick. But when there’s money to be made giving people the comfort they desperately want, who says a little fakery won’t go long the way?

Sandy asks…
Real Estate Company Search in Nashville?
I’m getting my real estate license and was wondering if there are any salespeople in nashville who love their company they work with, and would like to share. thanks!

Jere answers:
Greg,
Consider this… When you are new to the biz, you have no clients but you have friends and family who know that you are getting into real estate (or at least they should).
And, since in the grand scheme of things you are an unknown. I would strongly suggest looking into a National or Worldwide company to ‘hang your hat’. Branding in this biz is a very strong ally to your business. So, why not work for someone who constantly makes the general public aware of their existence.
I have done that and benefit from it all the time. I’ll give you a couple hints of my company’s branding efforts:
1. “Nobody in the world sells more real estate than…”
2. Red, white and blue balloon
Good luck on your new career!

Mark asks…
is iphone4sgiveaway.info real?
I kinda think its a scam and I’m worried.. I have filled the survey thinking its real.. I gave my adress, number and email. Please help!

Jere answers:
I have never seen a *.info site that wasn’t a spam target. There may be a few but I’ve got tens of thousands of *.infos that say otherwise. That plus the *.biz *.name *.jobs *.pro *.travel (*.fitb) was a foolish silly useless mistake to create. Duh.

I always wanted to make my own marketing company (when I finish school) but I don’t know how to start.. How does it work? What will I have to do? Which platform will I operate? Whats the stuff I need to know?
Please help (Some more infos will be awesome)

Jere answers:
There’s all kinds of marketing out there, a college degree in advertising and marketing would help in getting corporate clients. A reputation and good people skills may be needed to convince people to hire you, starting as an unpaid or underpaid intern may be a start.
If you want to join the millions? Trying freelance internet affiliate marketing you can get a few tutorial courses to get you started many new internet marketers hang out at warriorforum.com.

Donna asks…
Best internet marketing program for multiple streams?
I am looking for an internet marketing program that uses more than one company so there is more than one source of income.
Any input or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Jere answers:
Are you referring to different affiliates involved with affiliate marketing? Or just different Internet Marketing methods in general that you can implement to help you set up various streams of income?
Ultimately, there are many ways one can make money from Internet Marketing, including (but not limited to):
– building various niche websites, building traffic to those sites, and then promoting various products or using PPC (such as Google Adsense) to make money
– building Facebook fan pages, and implementing various ways to learn from specific markets and earn money with that knowledge
– writing content. If you love writing, you can join a program such as “Textbroker” to write articles/content on topics that you enjoy and get paid for your articles
If you are looking for different companies (affiliate networks, PPC networks, CPA networks, etc), here’s a list to help you get started:
– cj.com
– google adsense
– peerfly.com
– linkshare.com
– shareasale.com
Hope this helps. 🙂

Carol asks…
Would events and Internet marketing be under hospitality related?
I want to do an internship at an entertainment media company dealing with throwing events and Internet marketing. It is not a hotel but an entertainment visual arts company.
Do you think this will be approved for hospitality management university internship ???
I am hospitality management and am wondering if I would get this approved for my internship of “hospitality”

Jere answers:
It is impossible to tell. You need to talk with your school counselor to find out. If you want to earn credit from the internship, most likely you won’t get approved since it is not related to anything hospital
To receive credit in the College of Arts and Sciences, internships must provide an educational experience equivalent to a practicum in one of the departments represented in the College. Students must describe the educational experience on the Internship Approval Form, commit to at least certain hours of work and secure the approval of both the internship supervisor and the appropriate A&S department.

I have a US based company with a desire to outsource my internet marketing for several websites. I want to hire great people from the Phillipines that can show case their awesome internet skills using a reliable, fast internet connection. So far I have found great people but really poor internet connections- Its really frustrating for everyone involved. Help.

Jere answers:
Any of the largest cities but Metro-Manila is probably the best / fastest with the most “Call Centers” but I know such businesses also prosper in Cebu City and Davao City. Clark Duty Free Port in Angeles City north of Manila is another good location for internet access. Texas Instruments will open a new factory there and maybe 20 of their suppliers will also open in duty free zone. The best service from PLDT in Manila requires a Business Telephone Line and minimum contract of one year and costs P4000 + tax / month. Some businesses which require internet access without down time subscribe to more than one server so if one is down they can switch to the other.

The easiest way is for them to Email you the pictures or alternativly use an online photo sharing site like Imigur or Flickr.

How to register an online business in India?
What is the procedure to register an online business in India?
I own a ecommerce website. What is the government procedure and/or rules to register the business?

Jere answers:
In India, incorporation of a company is governed by the Companies Act 1956. It is the most important piece of legislation that empowers the Central Government to regulate the formation, financing, functioning and winding up of companies. It applies to whole of India and to all types of companies, whether registered under this Act or an earlier Act. But it does not apply to universities, co-operative societies, unincorporated trading, scientific and other societies.
The Act is administered by the Central Government through the Ministry of Corporate Affairs and the Offices of Registrar of Companies, Official Liquidators , Public Trustee, Company Law Board, Director of Inspection, etc. The Registrar of Companies (ROC) controls the task of incorporation of new companies and the administration of running companies.
The Official Liquidators who are attached to the various High Courts functioning in the country are also under the overall administrative control of the Ministry. The set-up at the Headquarters includes the Company Law Board, a quasi-judicial body, having the principal Bench at New Delhi, an additional principal bench for Southern Region at Chennai and four Regional Benches located at New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai. The organisation at the Headquarters also includes two Directors of Inspection and Investigation with a complement of staff, an Economic Adviser for Research and Statistics and other Officials providing expertise on legal, accounting, economic and statistical matters.
The four Regional Directors, who are in charge of the respective regions, comprising a number of States and Union Territories, interalia, supervise the working of the Offices of Registrars of Companies and the Official Liquidators working in their regions. They also maintain liaison with the respective State Governments and the Central Government in matters relating to the administration of the Companies Act, 1956.
Registrar of Companies (ROCs) appointed under Section 609 of the Companies Act, covering various States and Union Territories, are vested with the primary duty of registering companies floated in the respective States and the Union Territories and ensuring that such companies comply with the statutory requirements under the Act. Their offices function as registry of records relating to the companies registered with them.
For registration and incorporation of a company, an application has to be filed with Registrar of companies. Application for registration of a company accompanied by the selected names, Memorandum of Association and Articles of Association and other necessary documents is to be filed with the Registrar of companies of the State in which the company is proposed to be incorporated.
Under the Companies Act, an entrepreneur can form two types of companies, namely a private company or a public company.
A Private Company is one, the articles whereof contains the following restrictions:-
Restricts the minimum paid up share capital to such an amount as may be prescribed but which shall not be less than rupees one lakh;
Restricts the rights of members to transfer its shares, if any;
Limits the number of its members to fifty excluding the past or present employees of the company who are members of the company;
Prohibits any invitation to the public to subscribe for any shares or debentures of the company;
Does not invite or accept any deposits from persons other than its members, directors or their relatives
Also, the minimum number of members in a private company is two and such a company must have the words ‘Pvt Ltd’ as the last part of its name.
A Public Company, as defined in the Companies Act, has the following features:-
Its shares are freely transferable;
There is no ceiling on its membership;
It can invite general public to subscribe to its shares;
It has a minimum paid up capital of Rs. 5 lakhs or such higher paid up capital as may be prescribed;
It is a private company which is a subsidiary of a public company.
Also, the minimum number of members in a public company is seven and such a company must have the word ‘Ltd’ as last part of its name.

Lisa asks…
What Percentage of my start up Business should I give to partners?
Hi,
I have a new online business idea that has never been done before and very innovative based on the feedback i got from many big enterprises working in the telecom and online field. (some showed interest to sponsor later)
Yesterday i met 2 websites developers & 1 graphic designer, they offered to join me as partners.
My question is: What Percentage should I give to everyone of them?
Given that they will develop the website only and do the design, other than that
1-i own the idea which is the core.
2-i will pay any needed expenses
3-i will do all the business activities i.e. sales, marketing & business development..
Thanks

Jere answers:
You have to make everybody more or less an equal partners. That is how all the recent great success companies have worked lately. Why? Because with a large stake of the company pie (dollars) up for grabs everybody will work hard and quickly kick out any slacker. When profits come in, you get to recover your direct expenses. After that, everybody share equally.
