How do you patent an idea?
Hi! For those of you who have done this or know someone who has successfully, how do i go about patenting an idea without getting ripped off?! I have a couple different ideas under different categories, so not sure if there are different places for each-like one is a certain kind of jewelry and the other is an internet Business idea:) I’m from the East Bay.

First, you have to draw examples of what you have in mind and mail them to yourself. DO NOT OPEN THEM. The postmark determines that you have “prior art” meaning that you came up with the idea and that you can prove it to have existed before someone else’s.
You really need to check the www.uspto.gov site to make sure no one else has it.
You might run into much difficulty because patents have to be a) unique; and b) non-obvious. Meaning that if I say Oh, this shopping cart can also be used as a baggage transporter at the airport, that’s just another use, not an invention.
I’m not sure what you’re doing, but if the jewelry design has been done before or if the metal you’re using has been done before in jewelry or any kind of ornamentation, then you’re S.O.L. Similarly the internet business idea might be taken. That would fall under a patented methodology.
If your idea still proves to be unique, I would then suggest finding yourself an IP lawyer (intellectual property).

I want to start a business I need ideas?
I have a 4 year degree in business. I would like to start a business. My main problem is that I am not sure what kind of business to start. I love music, but there is not good money is music for me so I would like to open a business with something that no my favor thing to do but something that can get the bills paid. I current work but if this business is good enough I could go full time.
Please someone lay out some ideas for me for business that I can start. I am not all that great on internet business. I like store front, but I am open to any suggestions.

You can get a lot of ideas from every where, but you need to make SWOT (Strengts, Weakness, Opportunities and Threats) analysis of yourself, this will give you information what business is perfect for you. Maybe you will need a little bit time to do it, but it will be the most usefull time in your life.

how do you go about finding investors for a completely internet based business?
Does anyone know where do you go to find investors to see if they might be interested in investing in your business? I’m planning to start up a new internet business which I think is pretty unique but I’m not sure how to find investors who maybe could help with marketing it and getting it known.

Marketing and funding are completely different issues.
If you need additional funding to get your idea developed, you have a long road ahead of you. This would involve creating a business plan and a basic website (which you can do yourself), and getting in touch with another organization that can help you track down angel investors who may be interested in your deal. This is difficult because without a “prototype” funding companies will take up your time looking at your deal, but will almost never invest. Some sneaky funding companies already have “portfolio” companies they’ve invested in, and they’re looking to you for a free education and trade secrets they can apply to their own business. This is not fair, but there is hardly anything you can do about it, since it is you that needs the funding and it is almost impossible to get a potential funder to sign a non-disclosure agreement.
If, on the other hand, you’ve already done a substantial amount of work on the product and/or website so you can begin promoting it, there are a ton of ways to get your website “noticed”. Internet marketing techniques include blogs, news/press release submission to article engines, Google Adwords, Pay-Per-Click, email marketing, co-registration including paid solo ads, Squidoo, MySpace, search engine optimization (SEO), search engine URL submission, traffic engines, safelists, white papers, free ebooks with embedded promotional info, newsletters, etc.

How to start a internet company in a third world country?
I’m from Nicaragua, i have various ideas for a internet company, I have partially the monetary resource to start it but the problem is Nicaragua does not have the market for a internet business so in other to make business ideas work i need a worldwide market like Mexico or the US, but how do i get customers if iĀ“m here and they are there. and they are other problems that arrive too so anyone have any tips on how to make this happen?

Internet and other modern facilities in third world countries are seem to be more profitable then that of countries of g8 because new ideas create new opportunities for the people and for the companies. For example, with the establishment of an internet company, a telecommunication company can also be established and it will ultimately create a Monopoly for the investor, because in third world countries there is no such things like internet…..
I think u should start ur business with low investment and see the results, if its good, continue it or else skip it….. As businesslike says NO RISK NO GAIN

How would i advertise my internet based company?
I’m trying to think of an idea for an internet based company, but i want to know how to advertise.
I just want to know how i would advertise my internet business?

Hey Matt,
I’d advise you to try to not pay for traffic first of all. A lot of quality traffic it free (i.e. Youtube, Facebook, Twitter). These are some of the top traffic sites on the internet.
