Your Questions About How To Do Business Online

Lisa asks…
What kind of money do most online custom t-shirt sellers make?
I want to start up a business (online) where I sell t-shirts (random, odd, humurous). There are about a million other people doing the same thing, and I am just wondering if anybody has one of these businesses of their own, and what kind of start up costs are involved. Also what (if any) kind of profit are you looking at?

Jere answers:
I flunked Bussiness. Ok. But if you still want advice… Make a cool design and print like 5 shirts up. Do you have to pay for that? Probably depends. I doubt that it costs that much for you to use other people’s equiptment. Also, if it were me, I wouldn’t print alot because by the time you sell all of them, the design would already be uncool. You know, there are lots of shirts that people don’t even buy. Maybe try reselling some of these to just your friends. There is a customer base right there. And your friend is happy because where his money go? Ok, your friends are Jewish. Buy a gun and kill them. You didn’t want to make a shirt for nobody anyway.

Charles asks…
How can my business get more exposure online?
if i search for my business online (property management) i cant find it listed anywhere. how do i get listed in say, online yellow pages, or yahoo?

Jere answers:
You have to sighn up for it.. Some web sites promote your name for free. Some require that you promote them back ( have their link on your page).
You also can pay $200-300 a year and you will appear in the first 10 in the top popular searches

I’m not looking for affiliate links, just a general idea of some things you have used to successfully promote your business online.

Susan asks…
How to get started as an online entrepreneur?
I need some guidance in starting my own business online. Where is the best place to start?
what is the best way to start affiliate marketing?
I’ve been reading some books on entrepreneurship, what are some other books that you would recommend?
Including your email address would be much appreciated for further contact.

Jere answers:
Working an affiliate program is very difficult for an individual to do, and the stats say that 97% of all people that enter into an affiliate marketing program will never realize a true profit. Your best bet is join and promote an affiliate marketing “team”. These are free to join groups of people that ban together to enter into affiliate marketing programs as a group. This gives you the advantage of having hundreds of other people promoting with you in order to earn money for everyone involved. Some of the programs these teams enter can cost as much as 50.00 a month, but there are a few good teams out there that cost as little as 6.00 a month. Keep in mind that affiliate marketing teams are not get rich quick scams. They have to be worked and promoted in order to succeed, but the ability to make a very nice living is there for those that follow the team system.

Chris asks…
Do I have to register a small online design consulting business?
I am starting a home decor consulting business online, and I want to make sure that I go through all the proper legal channels. Does anyone know how I would go about doing that? I am not selling “items”, but advice and services. Can I just get started or do I need to register myself and pay taxes on the business? I plan to make some phone calls throughout the week, but I was just curious now. Thanks!

Jere answers:
Yes, you do need to register a business, even if you’re just by yourself, as your local jurisdiction may have business taxes, business license fees, and whatnot.
And it’s best if you register a LLC or a corporation and do business as that, because if you get sued you may lose all your personal property (if you lose, fo course)
