Your Questions About Business Online Backup

Lizzie asks…
Best Backup Software?
I heard Acronis True Image 10 Home is the best backup software for your computer, but it might not be true. What do you think?

Jere answers:
True Image is good, but it can be a little flakey in my experience. I wouldn’t use it as my only backup system, as I don’t have complete confidence in it restoring my PC. Also, support is a bit weak.
If you use Vista Home Premium, Business or Ultimate, the built in backup is really good. You can schedule backups for all your files, or take an image or your PC like you can with Acronis TI.
Another good backup program (if you don’t have Vista) is Backup4All – http://www.backup4all.com Costs about $40.
Finally, as both of these measures might not be enough if your house burns down or you’re burgled, I use Mozy online backup ( https://mozy.com/ref/982Q8F ). This is a great program. You install it and it saves your files to a website over the internet. If the worst ever happens, you just download all your files again when you get another PC.
Mozy offer a 2Gb account for free (which is quite a lot – enough for hundreds of files or photos) but also unlimited backup for $4.95/month, if you have a lot of files. I’ve been using it for about 6 months, and it works great.

Daniel asks…
Is it possible to send backup online from one mac to another ?

Jere answers:
Recommend Sugarsync. It is best backup provider that will send backup online from one mac to another. See how.
SugarSync is a Cloud storage application that lets you share and store file across multiple computers, hand held devices, and even online. SugarSync’s compatibility to multiple operating systems is what makes SugarSync a distinct and the most widely used storage solution.
As Mac is considered as a versatile business computing machine, SugarSync for Mac allows users to readily share and store files from their Mac computers. SugarSync for Mac allows users to define the files they want to save online and then through the highly functional console present in the desktop application, it places the data in exceptional cloud environment.
In addition SugarSync Mac also allows users to synchronize their files across multiple devices, however, it does not show how much time will it take for a file to sync.. Users can use the advanced synchronization ability via the desktop application or through the web application that SugarSync maintains online.
SugarSync for Mac also allows users to share their data with multiple users. Not only can Mac users share the data with other Mac users but they can also let users from other devices access the data through public and private compartments on their Cloud storage.

Susan asks…
Best backup program for Mac OS X ?
I’m looking for the best online (remote) backup solution for my Mac. Any ideas? Thanks in advance..

Jere answers:
I’ve been using Mozy for Mac in beta for about two months and just love it. Its seamless, works in the background and dirt cheap imo especially as I use it for my business. No issues whatsoever. Its really the only offsite Mac backup solution available right now and I’ve searched everything.

Sharon asks…
My own online business?
I would like to open my own on-line business, I want to sell alot of things, I would like to keep my options open to sell anything the I’m familiar with. Like Bath and Body Products and candles. My question is, what is Drop ship service and is it a good idea? Or should I purchase from the manufacturer ? what web site should I use for my business: msn, ebay, auctions, etc ? I want to use a website a lot of people are familiar with. And is it a bad idea to sell too many different items ?

Jere answers:
Some of the items you mention are already sold through various MLM organisations. They will give you the backup of a big organisation.
Drop shipping means that you don’t have to handle the actual product at all – you sell it, the manufacturer does the packaging and despatch.
Ebay has got very greedy recently and is about to put up its fees again, severely penalising low volume sellers who don’t qualify for the discounts. There are other online auction sites – just google for them.
I would tend to say – stick to just one or two items that you know are something that everyone uses and needs, and don’t diversify too much. Don’t get into anything that involves YOU holding stock if you can avoid it.

Carol asks…
I have Norton for Business system protecting and backing up files on my pc…..?
Now it tells me I have run out of on-line storage and must buy more from them! Is that right? I recently transferred hundreds of photos off the pc to make more space – but it still asks me to buy more…..I am not impressed! Any ideas?

Jere answers:
My friend it is not telling about the space of your computer but it is telling about the space (Online storage space) that Symantec people gave you when you bought that product. The Norton will automatically backup photos, videos and others from your computer to your Symantec account. Normally they give you 2GB of online storage for you (other than your PC) So that if accidentally your computer crashes and lost the whole data, then you can download those lost data from your Norton account which was backed up before. So Norton has filled up this 2GB space and to back up more data it’s asking you to buy more storage. So if you think that your computer doesn’t crash or You have no important data on your computer then change the settings of the Noton Backup. Change the Norton Backup from Automatic to manual and Don’t buy more storage.
