Do you know how to obtain contact info & e-mail lists for large business enterprises based in Singapore?

I’ve searched online and see ads for many such directories, but I cannot be sure which might be best. Perhaps you already know of such a free service that can provide a list of e-mail addresses for Singapore-based businesses?

Jere answers:

You can try free online business directory like Jigsaw which provides the most reliable contact information.

Charles asks…

Our 8-year high school reunion is coming up. Should I show off to the girls that dissed me?

It’s been 8 years since our senior year in high school. We’re about to have a reunion in a couple weeks.

I was somewhat nerdy and skinny in high school, and used to try to talk to a couple of the “pretty” girls and they’d lift their noses at me like I was worthless. Pretty mean girls.

About 5 of the girls I remember that were rude and stuck-up to me are going to be there. I checked their MySpace pages, and 3 of them are overweight. 4 out of 5 of them work shitty jobs… one changes dirty diapers at a day care center, another bags groceries at the supermarket, one is a waitress, another one is a golddigger that jumps from guy to guy and doesn’t work. The one with a decent job is some kinda of data technician at a hospital.

I graduated from Standford and now hold a good position with a Singapore-based investment firm, and make over $150,000 a year, and plan on adding about $30,000 more to that income with this online business I just started. I live in a wealthy neighborhood as well. I also am no longer skinny as I have worked out ever since I got out of high school, and have a cut physique like a swimmer, and I date a girl that models for Ed Hardy. I drive a 2008 E350 Mercedes as well.

My question is, should I go in there and go out of my way to flaunt to these stuck-up girls what’s going on in my life, since they dissed me and humiliated me in high school? If so, how should I go about doing it? Any recommendations? I plan on bringing in my girlfriend for them to see as well, who looks about 1,000x better than any of them.

Shallow, I know. But, the reunion is only for one day; think about how these girls dissed me month after month in high school.

Would you rub this in these women’s faces? I’m cynically looking forward to it…
ProfessorC… the gold-digging chick with no job as peace of mind?

I never even thought of any of these girls until I was told about the reunion… then I decided to thumb through the thumb buck. Trust me, for the past 8 years I have not been thinking of them day in, day out.

You defend them and say “this is what teens do“… really? I didn’t do that, and neither did any of my friends. Mean people are mean people. Don’t excuse them just because they’re female and I’m male.
*decided to thumb through the YEAR BOOK

Jere answers:

LMAO, Congratulations on your success! I would love to rub their faces in it and then some, however, I think to make this even more bittersweet, I would not flaunt yourself to these girls, rather mingle and chat with your other classmates and if your path comes into their view, then just totally ignore them. I am sure curiosity will get the best of them and they will find out just who you are and that is where they will feel the sting of it. What goes around comes around, and you will be the better person in spite of it! =P

Basics of setting up online shopping site?

i know nuts about starting/owning a business, so really hope someone can give me pointers..

Im looking to start by selling female clothings and accessories, maybe with some men’s as well and actually i did think of selling all sort of knick nacks like say decorative ornaments etc..to increase variety.. does more variety = higher potential for sales? or it is better to start by sticking to a theme eg if its clothes then its clothes, dont sell watches or handphones

Just a simple home based one, low costs, cos im not sure how i would do.. so really expensive shopping cart or webhosting systems etc are completely out.. i am also targetting local customers first; i live in singapore

Trust. How can I enable customers to trust me if my site is new? ie i dont have good reviews from customers yet (this is if im not using ebay)

Im not aiming at anything big for now, I just need to know what is the most basic and important thing I need to know/have to start and run it.

thanks!

Jere answers:

Set up a pay pal account. Its the best way to do it low cost. They only take a commission after you make sale and get money. You don’t make anything, they don’t cost anything. Put the button link on your site. Make little thumbnails of your products and that link to an enlarged image. You can do this free on http://freewebs.com, but if you get alot of visitors, you may run out of bandwith for the month. Then you have to wait til it is reset to open your site again.

Laura asks…

How long does it take for an order from Borders online bookstore to reach you?

I ordered a book from Borders online. They gave me a purchase and confirmation email the next day. Written in the report is a part which says: International standard delivery (DHL), 7-21 business days, along with a weird dhl tracking number that goes like this: #000000000. When i followed the link attached to the tracking number, the tracking program in the DHL site goes into an error saying the number does not exist.

Its already been 3 weeks since then. I am just a little scared that something went wrong along the way (my first time ordering books online).

I am living in Singapore.

Is this normal? How long does online book order usually take to reach you? Thanks in advance!

Jere answers:

Not certain about your case since you live in Singapore, but you should contact borders and ask them where is your book. Next time,,,,use Amazon.com. Love them.
