Your Questions About The Real Biz

Paul asks…
How did Bill Gates store his 40 billion dollars?
They can’t be all in banks. You can’t trust those IRS.
They can’t be all in real estate either.
Do you suppose he buys gold with that money?
Diamonds? Physical storage?

Jere answers:
There is money in banks, but the IRS is not a bank.
As for gold, Diamonds? Physical storage? Not likely. Found no evidence to support that. Definitely not storage.
Much of his money is still in MSFT stock to the tune of some 733 million shares.

He has been periodically liquidating his MSFT holdings as allowed to under SEC Rule 144, and has been doing this for quite some time and focusing on the foundation:

Robert asks…
What are pros and cons working as real estate appraiser?
I have years exp. as remodeler, decorator and small biz owner. Would like to consider this as new career.

Jere answers:
*PROS*
– Decent pay (though this depends on which market you’re in and whether you hold a general or residential license)
– Good hours (some have flexible hours…though this can depend on where you work)
– Good profession to be in if you enjoy research and have solid writing skills
– Work remains interesting because each appraisal you do will be on a different property (each with its own unique characteristics and challenges)
– Typically have a say in which appraisal assignments you’ll accept
– If you obtain a general appraiser license, you’re not bound by property type…residential appraisers can only appraise residential properties; general appraisers can appraise *any* property type (land, industrial, retail, office, residential, etc…)
– Not limited to only writing appraisals…appraisers can also perform consultation services (i.e. Market analysis, feasibility analysis, etc.) and/or become review appraisers (where you review another appraiser’s work)
*CONS*
– Need to invest a lot of hours in education and experience to obtain license (the minimum number of hours varies from state to state)
– The minimum education requirements will be increasing nationwide effective January 1, 2008 (visit http://www.appraisalfoundation.com/ for more details)
– Will need to invest a lot of money for coursework tuition and licensing fees
– Can be difficult to find a mentor to obtain experience hours
– If working solo, can be difficult to develop a client base when you first start out
– Could be difficult if there’s an oversupply of appraisers in your market (increased competition can drive down appraisal fees)
– Fluctuations in the national and/or local real estate market can affect the appraisal field (decreased assignments in the area can also increase competition and drive down appraisal fees)
– Some assignments can be extremely complex and stressful
– Can sometimes be difficult to obtain data (depending on the assignment and property type)
– Can be held legally liable if you do not conform to USPAP (the professional ethics that an appraiser has to abide by)…should carry liability insurance

Carol asks…
How to improve integrated graphics on a laptop?
I use an HP ENVY dv6-7229WM Laptop which has an AMD Quad-Core A10-4600M Accelerated Processor 8GB of ram and 750g Hard drive. If I need to include more info please tell me. I just want to know what things I can do, and how to do them, to improve gaming performance. Not expecting to jump up into playing on ultra settings. But playing games with a little better look or no noticeable hiccups would be nice. Any real tips would be appreciate, please don’t be rude. I thank you for your time.

how do i download music from itunes onto my mp4 ipod?
i’ts not a real ipod nano,But it came with the cord to download music onto it.i have itunes but when i plug in my ipod some weird disk removal window comes up and nothing gets downloaded.please help.i want my music in my ipod.

Jere answers:
ITunes music and video have DRM copyright protection, you can only play it on your computer or your iPod player. If you want to put them on other portable player such as PSP, Zen, Zune, MP3/MP4 player, etc. You have to remove the DRM protection at first. I found a media converter can do that, it’s easy to use and works pretty well for me, you may download it for a try.
