What phone/internet service should I choose? I am starting a small business…..HELP!!!?
I have researched every service that I can think of including:
Qwest
Cox
Verizon
Cingular
AT&T
I only need a cell phone, a businessphone, or a VoIP phone. I also need at least 512 Kbps bandwidth on the internet. I need to know if the software works on Mac and Windows. I also want to know if the service is good. If you have experience please let me know. I would like to know if they treat you nicely when you have questions, and whether their tech support knows what they are talking about.
I also need to know if the company has good rates, and why you think so, (please give me a comparison)…….
Jere answers:
Your options depends upon the cheapest connection to your place of business. I currently have:
Charter Cable TV with Internet service that cost me $120 a month.
Vonage phone service – $24 month unlimited and no long distance charges
Verizon Cell Phone – $65 with 1,500 minutes and free text
So for my three the total cost is about $210 a month.
I’ve always had good service and good response for all.
Good luck and I hope this helps.
OK…. Just because a sales person tells you that an ‘All In One’ plan is better… Doesn’t mean it’s true!

What happened to Sunrocket internet phone service? Did it go out of business?
Jere answers:
I got an email this morning saying that Packet8 is taking over Sunrocket customer!!!
The offer looks pretty good to me!!
“PACKET8 has 100,000 consumer [accounts] and those are key because that base provides us with economies of scale — for example, PSTN termination.
Internally-developed technology is another key to Packet8’s stability — a contrast to SunRocket which licensed its technology from other companies.
“PACKET8 has 68 patents in this [VoIP] technology,” “We co-invented the technology. Because we control the technology, [we control] quality, reliability, scalability. Over the long term, it’s helped us reduce our cost base because Packet8 don’t have to pay anybody for anything.”
And the P8 sales team has been signing up 700-800 new customers daily since SR went out of business.
I got this from the P8 forum…
Internet Phone Company Halts Operations
July 17, 2007
Internet Phone Company Halts Operations
SunRocket, an Internet telephone company, has ceased operations and is moving its customers to one or more other companies, according to a person briefed on its status.
A recording on SunRocket’s customer service line said the company “is no longer taking customer service or sales calls.” Executives of SunRocket, which was founded in 2004 and is based in Vienna, Va., could not be reached for comment.
Telecommunications industry analysts said the development Highlights the struggles of start-ups trying to offer telephone service over the Internet.
These start-ups face enormous competitive pressure from the biggest players in the telecommunications industry, both cable and traditional telephone companies. The cable companies in particular have made a strong push into the telephone market by offering the service as part of a product bundle with television and Internet access.
The start-ups, like SunRocket and Vonage, the best known of the group, tend to offer a single product, and they do not have the same power as the larger companies to control quality of service because they do not operate their own telecommunications lines, said Richard Greenfield, a media analyst at Pali Research in New York.
T at Pali Research in New York.
In April, SunRocket announced that it had reached 200,000 subscribers and said the milestone was a testament to consumers’ embrace of Internet telephony, which allows telephone calls to be transmitted as data over the Internet. One of SunRocket’s main pitches to potential customers was its offer of $199 for a year of unlimited calling to the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico.
Vonage, which went public last year, was a pioneer in the commercialization of the technology. But its fortunes have floundered too, along with its stock, which has been on a steady slide over the last year, closing Wednesday at $2.95.
Alan Bezoza, an analyst at Oppenheimer & Co., said Vonage had continued to add subscribers, but the cost of attracting them had put the company deep into the red. He said that in its first quarter this year, Vonage added 166,000 customers, but lost $73 million. The start-ups “are going up against the marketing muscle of very large companies, like cable and telecom companies,” Mr. Bezoza said.
Mr. Bezoza said that he believed that stand-alone Internet telephone companies could wind up as successful niche players in the market, but their investors would have to be willing to endure a substantial period of losses before they built enough of a customer base to be profitable.
I have been a P8 customer for over 3 years now, and have been very happy!!
I get a my latest new from dslreports.com
Sunrocket has gone bankrupt, just google it and you will find like millions of things on it, about your money, depending on how long ago you paid and how many more months you had left, you should call your credit card company and tell them you didn’t get a full service from sunrocket, and they should give you some money back. We only had like one or two months left on ours so I don’t think we will be trying to get a few dollars back.

I’m a small business owner and I would like internet service only, no phone does that type of service exsist?
I don’t need a land line I only need Internet.Do I have to get phone plan or can I just get internet? My local phone company is Verizon
Jere answers:
If you still want to have a phone number there are options for using VoIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) instead of your standard analog landline telephone.
VoIP will reduce your cost but it won’t completely eliminate them. You will need to transfer your number to a SIP provider. Typically SIP providers will give you free pc to pc calls, but there will still be charges to be able to make and take phone calls from standard phones and cell phones. But your long distance charges in particular will be lower by taking advantage of your internet connection. You also have more options to use software for controlling your phone system which, and software for a virtually PBX, Auto Attendant, or On-Hold Messaging, is also going to be cheaper than its hardware counterparts.
Here is a link on NCH Software that talks about and gives links to several different SIP providers that you can compare and take a look at to see what might meet your needs.
My second reason for giving that particular link is that NCH has some really good and economical telephony software that is designed with small business in particular in mind, so you may well want to take a look at their telephony software:
http://www.nch.com.au/phone/index.html
When you are using VoIP you have the option to use a softphone software application like NCH’s ExpressTalk and talk through your computer’s speakers and microphone, or you can use either a USB Phone plugged into your computer, or IP phones on you LAN (Local Area Network). If you will be looking for phones, here are two links for USB and IP phones respectively.

Where do I go to read and share reviews about companies doing business online?
I have had a very bad experience with a catalog company and feel the need to share it. I’d also like to read about other peoples experiences with companies doingbusinessonline. i’ve been to Epinion.com but can’t find a review there… only more online shopping. So where do you go to hear and be heard from?
The BBB is just a place to complain. If a company isn’t a member of the BBB there’s nothing they can do other than relay the complaint. The site you sent me to seems more for businesses than consumers. I want know know if there is a consumer forum for sharing information, reviews and/or ratings of companies doingbusinessonline.

What is appropriate “netiquitte”(net etiquitte) for doing business online?
it’s part of my entrprenaurship homework and i can’t seem to find any examples on the internet/
Jere answers:
I think maybe you are focusing too hard on the words in the question. The appropriate netiquette for doing business online is exactly the same as doing business face to face.
The only difference is in regards to email and other communications in which you can find all kinds of responses from a yahoo search.
If your selling an item in a store you place your items in such ways as to drive desire and supply need. You are cheerful and friendly at the checkout counter and you help your customers as much as possible to make a choice.
If your selling an item on a website you place your items in such ways as to drive desire and supply need. You are cheerful and friendly at the checkout page and you help your customers as much as possible to make a choice.
See? No real difference. Its when it comes to the email and other internet specific things that netiquette is relied on. You can find that stuff pretty easy:

how to secure your home computer if you’re doing your business online?
what are the “things” needed to secure it?is it possible for anyone to hack the computer?how do i protect it from viruses etc.? is anti-virus softwares enough?
Jere answers:
I will add to the excellent advice given by “gruntmaster9000”
1. Your business computer should be dedicated to your business financial needs and used for no other purpose. You don’t use it with Google or Yahoo or any other search engine. You don’t use it for news and information. This business computer is strictly for financial things, your bank accounts and websites where you upload data (such are articles and reports).
If you need to use Google or Yahoo or other search engines, or need to check non-business email, or need to read news reports, etc., use a separate computer. That way any criminal websites that you might accidentally visit cannot compromise your business computer. Criminals have been installing hack attacks in advertising that goes to legitimate websites, and you want to keep that trouble off your business computer.
2. Do not use WiFi wireless – Connect your business computer to your router with wire – Ethernet cable. Where there are no walls the WiFi signal travels a long ways, and can easily travel 50 feet outdoors – people could park at your street curb and “sniff” your WiFi signals and collect data to enable them to steal your financial information or hack into your business computer.
3. If possible, set up the router so the business computer has its own connection to the Internet and is isolated from any other computers connected to the router. Most inexpensive home routers do not have this ability. I have read that one Apple router and one Linksys router do this, they call it a “guest” connection.
4. Take notes – lots of notes – about how you have set up your computer system. Update the notes as needed when things change. Hardware can fail, and you will need to be able to set up another computer system quickly if that should happen. Extensive notes make a impossible task merely tedious.
5. Make backups. There are many ways to do backups, long articles have been written in the computer and software magazines about various software and hardware methods, and when they find something does not work well, they report that, which helps you avoid those products.
That’s all I have room to write. Good luck !

Tips on starting an online business?
I am good at jewelry making and i was wanting to start an onlinebusiness. I want to know how much a website would cost and the basics of creating one. Also, do you think i should start out by selling my jewelry on a separate website like amazon or yardsellr then creating a website later on?
Jere answers:
Sell them first on an established website. Even with fees, it’ll be cheaper than creating your own and trying to get people to look at your stuff.
Before you start, make sure you have a detailed written business plan. Even if it’s side income for you and not your livelihood, you want to be sure you’ll have a good chance of making money.
James asks…
What are your tips and tricks to starting an online business?
The question is straightforward. I want to know how people make their onlinebusiness successful? From how they start from scratch. How did you get your inspiration if you own an onlinebusiness? Where do you get your products? Do you make them yourself or what? Howdo you market your products? And how did you come about making your own personal website? Did you make it yourself or hire a professional todo it? How much time out of the week does your onlinebusiness take up?
Jere answers:
To make an online business successful, you must know what you are doing. You can’t just walk through your business owning days blindly. That won’t work. You also have to love what you are doing. If not, you will become bored and even find that you aren’t caring or putting enough effort into it as you should be.
To start an online business, of course you must first establish the business. You will need at least these for things: 1. Dba. 2. Ein. 3. Seller’s permit. 4. Business license.
Then, you will need a domain (www.yourname.com), website, host, shopping cart/ merchant account, etc. You can either pay someone to design the website for you (which I HIGHLY recommend if you are not good with html or css codes), or you can use a template. If you use a designer, they will let you know what shopping carts and hosting will work best with the website they created.
I got my inspiration for my business because I realized that only I can live out my dreams. I realized that I can’t work for someone else and always have my ideas put into action, or even be heard! I took a business class and fell in love. I found myself wanting to know everything about it, and actually reading business text books in my spare time.
I am not very creative with my hands, so I purchase my products from wholesalers. I love to shop, and shopping for my store, even sorting inventory, is really rewarding for me!
I market my products a few different ways. Word of mouth is a huge way!! Some how, my business almost always can be brought up in a conversation just by chance. Of course, I carry plenty of business cards around with me to hand out. I have email marketing through a subscription. I offer promotional items with my business name on it as well. There are many other things.
I did not have the time to learn how to do web design, and I wanted my website to be very customizable to my needs and wants. I knew that a template wouldn’t give me what I needed. I looked around for a web designer and glanced at many portfolios until I found one that I liked. I got VERY lucky to find a designer that offered a shopping cart in the one time fee.
Shopping carts can get very expensive, the price goes up with the more products you get. I don’t have to pay a monthly fee.
I would say that my business probably takes up a large chunk of my time during the week, including weekends. My work does not stop during the weekends. But, I got very lucky because I still have time to do things that I like… Even though taking care of my business is probably my favorite thing to do. I still find time to see my friends and spend time with my family often.
Good Luck

I would like to suggest you to start a blog with the topic which you are interested in. It is absolutely free. Tell your friends and family about your blog. Promote it on social networking websites like Twitter, Facebook, Google+ etc. After getting adequate traffic try to monetize it with advertising programs like Google adsense, Clicksor, Infolinks etc. You can also join affiliate marketing sites like CJ.com or Clickbank.com. They will pay you good commission.

I did a Graphic Designing course and I wanna do it online?
But I don’t know howto set up my businessonline..got tips?
Jere answers:
If you have Graphic Design education degree or diploma, and wish to start a business , the setup would require other aspects in place prior to having online website, having a portfolio and references , local contacts and previous works, an office or studio set inplace for local customers,
anything through online can be placed into a personal website, requiring a web service or own server, web forms as data files for orders and account system for banking, all those platforms and services already set as base, then anything online can simply be placed into site as services being provided,
Yahoo has some small businesses services you can get an idea from, and use if able ,
http://smallbusiness.yahoo.com/
check your internet provider for possible options, if none, check local services in your area through
yellow pages or google maps,
with paper and pen, jot down what your service is al about,
what the customer needs to know/ FAQ /help,
how they apply for services,
how you execute services,
how payment is exchanged,
contact us: @ email/ phone, automated, cloud, wireless
anything to do with taxes, or % shipping, refunds,
possibility of legal sources for security or bonding, (check bottom of this Y! Page for ideas,)
with those details you merely have to place into a web-page using html /css/flash/pdf tools,
and place onto online web service site,
check places like Etsy and Ebay for how users sell actual products,

If you are not already marketing your businessonline, it is time to start. Although there are a few exceptions, just about every business can benefit from onlinemarketing. There are just so many advantages to this type of marketing. First of all, it is extremely affordable to market your businessonline. Other advantages to marketing your businessonline include the ability to reach a large target audience, the ability to reach potential customers all over the world and the ability to customize the marketing for different sectors of the target audience.
The affordability of Internet marketing is one of many reasons why many business owners are turning to the Internet for advertising. Advertising online is incredibly affordable especially when you consider how many potential customers a business owner can reach with an onlinemarketingcampaign. Most methods of onlineadvertising are quite affordable and some of them do not have any direct costs. For example, you may choose to market your businessonline by participating in industry forums and posting links to your website whenever it is appropriate to do so. In this case the cost of creating and maintaining the website is insignificant in comparison to the number of potential clients you could reach through onlinemarketing. Additionally, the costs associated with posting links to your website are incidental. You could consider the cost of having access to the Internet as part of the cost but you most likely require Internet access for other reasons as well so it is completely worthwhile.
Reaching a large target audience is another very worthwhile reason for marketing your businessonline. You may have spent a great deal of time and energy doing marketresearch and determine who your target audience is. You may have also spent a great deal of time trying to figure out the best way to reach this audience. This is a very sound marketing principle but as it applies to marketing on local television, radio and print media it only allows you to reach a limited audience. However, when you take your marketing to the Internet you automatically drastically increase your potential target audience because you now have the ability to reach members of your target audience around the world.
This ability to reach customers around the world is another major advantage to marketing your businessonline. Regardless of where you live and operate your business, you have the ability to reach those who have an interest in the products you sell or the services you provide no matter where they live. This makes it possible for you to do business with customers around the world.
Likewise the fact that the Internet is available 24 hours a day is also very beneficial to those who choose to market their products or servicesonline. Shopping for products and services in person can be very difficult especially for individuals who work long hours or those who work unusual hours. These working conditions make it difficult for these individuals to do business and make purchases of products and services they need during regular business hours. However, business owners who have an online presence are much more convenient because unlike stores and calling centers, the website never closes. This convenience gives potential customers the ability to view products and services, compare these products and service to the ones offered by competitors and make a purchase at any hour of any day.
If you are a business owner who is reading this article and you do not already have a strong online presence, you need to immediately start learning more about the world of Internet marketing. This is so important because if your competitors are marketingonline, you may find they are gaining a steady advantage and are becoming more appealing to potential customers. Before too many of your potential customers become loyal customers of the competition it is time to start figuring out how you can market your businessonline and keep up with the competition.
What are different Internet Business Models to work with?
I have received an answer from Patrick (Thanks a lot Patrick) against a different question asked by me. In his answer Patrick wrote
“There are a lot of internetbusiness model you could consider of (e.g. selling phyiscal or digital products, buying and selling domain names, creating paid newsletter or websites, affilitate marketing, auctions and many more).”

Jere answers:
The Web offers tremendous opportunities for those who know how to harness it. You hear of stories of people who earn thousands if not millions of dollars from doing business on Web. While there are many scams (same way in the traditional business world), there are various ways you can legitimately make money on the Web.
Here are the main ways you can earn money from the Internet:
1. Sell products on the Web – Big boys like Amazon or Lillian Vernon online catalog or smaller businesses like BigKidsVideo.com or Candle4Less.com all sell products on the Web.
You can either sell: (a) through your own storefront through your own website or applications such as Yahoo Stores; or (b) sell through online auctions like eBay
2. Information Delivery. Others such as About.com or EuropeforVisitors.com create content and monetize their content in a number of ways:
a. Advertising – there are several ways you can earn money from advertising:
1. Join an advertising network. Advertising networks are organizations that aggregate Web sites that offer advertising space, and sell banner ads (and other advertising options) across them. Traffic requirement is often a minimum of 5,000 monthly impressions, although many do not accept sites hosted by free page services.
2. Participate in contextual advertising networks. Contextual advertising are text ads delivered based on the content of the web page using an automated system.

Bidvertiser http://www.bidvertiser.com/
3. Sell advertising for your site directly. This is admittedly a more difficult route for a small business site wanting to earn advertising revenues. But hey, as they say: “no pain, no gain!”
b. Affiliate Programs – you sell other people’s products that your audience may be interested in; and you get a certain commission after the desired action was done (whether a sale, a lead, subscription to email newsletter, or however this is defined)
c. Paid online content. Hoovers.com or WebmasterWorld.com Supporters forum all require paid subscription before accessing the information
d. Content licensing and syndication. Some publishers such as the Associated Press get paid every time their content is published elsewhere
Chris asks…
Where can I find information about internet business models based on advertising?
Jere answers:
You cannot base a realistic business model on JUST advertising revenue. It cannot work.
Think about it, to get advertising revenue you have to get users coming to your site and then clicking on the displayed ads.
To get users coming to your site you need to advertise to attract them (costs money). You can bring users to your site by other means but it will take a minimum of a year to get any real traffic.
The cost of bringing users to your site by advertising will always be more than your receipts from advertising on your site.

Donna asks…
what is an internet business model?
What is an internetbusiness model and what are some examples?
Jere answers:
An internet business model is one in which all aspects of commerce are conducted online and not in a “brick and mortar” store.
Two popular businesses based on this model are Amazon.com and Ebay because 100% of their transactions are conducted online. These companies also rely on the internet for their customer service and contact.
Walmart is a mixed model because you can shop online or walk into a store to do your shopping.
Lisa asks…
How is the Internet changing the economics of information and business models?
Jere answers:
Considering the wide spread Internet access available now, businesses are now able to reach untouched potential customers. However, to maximize any business medium, one first needs to understand what the positive potential can be.
Such is the positive potential that can be identified as the many advantages of an online business.
· Employee Options
With an Internet business firms can offer its employees work options that other companies may not be able to offer. They can offer employees the option to work from home, create their own hours and create their own work environment. Firms can also hire employees from anywhere in the world, which means they have access to a large pool of talent. When employees have this kind of flexibility, it can make morale high and creates an atmosphere for higher productivity.
· Business Hours
An Internet business offers flexibility to the customer as well, according to the e-Business Guide. Firms can set their online business to accept orders 24 hours a day, seven days a week and 365 days a year. They can offer a library of information to customers about their business that can be available at all times, and customers can send in emails with questions any time they want. With the automatic order taking capabilities of the Internet, and online real-time inventory tracking abilities, firms can offer customers anywhere in the world speedy order information without the need for constant human interaction.
· Global Presence
The Internet reaches millions of people all over the world at any point of time. An online business can create an international presence at once without the need to pay for costly retail or office space in a foreign country. An online company can also segment the business and create specific websites to appeal to different cultures throughout the world.
· Dynamic Marketplace
The Internet offers businesses the ability to update product information, change product design and specifications, and introduce pricing promotions and specials instantly. Firms can take feedback from customers and quickly make changes to their website user interface to help make the customers’ experience easier. An online business can also offer customization options to customers that can allow someone to make changes to a product and then order the product with those changes. For example, a customer can create and order his own customized T-shirt from an online business quickly and easily.

i want to get into the real estate rehab/investing biz. should I start with a LLC or what?
I am buying my first home to fix up for myself to live in. should i put that in a llc????
Jere answers:
If you are going to use the property as a personal resident, you shouldn’t purchase it under the LLC. It’s an investment and I’m sure you expect to turn a profit but it’s not part of the business. It’s not good practice to mix your personal items with the business’s items.

Where can i find layman’s info on whether I should be an S corp, C corp, or LLC for my new construction biz?
“Layman’s info” is the key. I’m not real savvy with the technical jargon and tax implication details, so a “for dummies”-type website would be helpful. Thanks.
Jere answers:
There are many good web sites out that cater to us laymans! I have set my company up as a sole propietorship, but am working on moving to an LLC.
This will keep you busy for awhile. Search for LLC…and you’ll get great info.
Good luck.

Now, almost 1 year later I have made probably 30k revenue (although for the first 6 months I wasn’t making real money at all, I had that crappy job then I quit when I started making several thousand a month).
The problem is I haven’t kept up with my finances and now I need to go through and find how much I owe in taxes.
I do NOT have a business entity set up (yet). I don’t have an llc, s-corp, etc.. I’m just a sole individual.
During this period I also had 2 incidents where I went to the ER twice which cost about $7 or 8k (I don’t have insurance), a business trip to vegas Which cost 1-2k and some other things.
My question is, being male, 24, single, no business entity, living in california…
1. Can I write off my large medical bills as an expense so that I don’t have to count it towards the profit/income that I need to pay taxes on?
2. Can I write off all the other things that have to do with business.. such as the vegas business trip, a portion of my rent, a portion of my cellphone bill, a portion of my food, etc?
Someone told me unless I have a business entity (not a sole proprietor) I can’t write anything off.. it’s all counting as income, whether its a medical bill or biz expense or whatever. Another person told me though that I can in fact do that.
Anyone have any tips? I plan to get a CPA so I don’t need to ask on yahoo answers (lol), but a 100% positive answer by someone would really help ease my tension in case I end up having to pay taxes on all those medical bills.
Thanks
Jere answers:
Don’t be concerned about the other entities, continue to operate as a sole proprietor
and now to the questions, if the trip to Las Vegas was business related, the expenses of the trip can be deductible in the amount of the trip that was for the business, ie you spent 2 days in the town and 4 hours of the 24 would amount to 1/6th of the expenses for the business
your trips to ER are personal, not business related, altho the purpose of the trip may have been business
is your business operated out of your home? Then the portion of your home ie maybe one room out of 3, 1/3th of your household costs(rent, utilities, insurance etc) could be shown as use of home expenses but the space must be exclusively for the business, nothing of personal use in that room
if you have only one phone,no this is not deductible, you need a separate line for your business
you can go to www.irs.gov and request Publication 34 for all your answers

How to file business and personal taxes jointly online?
I own a small business that is seasonal and I operate during the summer. During the winter I work a seasonal hourly job. What process should I use to I file taxes jointly online? What is the best service to use to use todo this in terms of ease of use and cost? I would like to get the maximum refund on my personal taxes while citing deductions from my small business.
Jere answers:
Is your business a sole proprietorship? If so, then you are self-employed in addition to your seasonal hourly job. There is no separate “business return.” Everything goes on your 1040 plus required schedules.
Carol asks…
Do the state and local sales taxes have to be the same number?
I am filing my retail businesstaxesonline with the department of revenue and I figured out how much I made for the quarter so do I just put that same number into the state and local sales columns? I don’t understand, I know they are supposed to equal eachother out but is there a certain way to figure each of them out differently to where you get the same number or do you just add up everything you made for the quarter and put that number into both the state and local sales taxes, which is what I was going todo?
Jere answers:
Are you aware that there are 50 states in the US? Of them, 45 have a sales tax. Http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sales_taxes_in_the_United_States
Providing the state and local government names would be helpful. Also, the form number would help.
I hope this helps.

Nancy asks…
do i have to charge taxes for small business online?
i’m only sixteen, my mom and i are working on an onlinebusiness,
we would sell beaded jewelry, tote bags and such that we handcraft.
i would use the paypal system for orders
would i need to charge sales tax?, if so, howdo i know how much to charge?
are there any other legal issues that i should know before starting this business?
i was also thinking about accepting donations… all profit made through the website will go towards my college education.
thank you(:
i do not have a store, office, or anything of that sort, its just a home business, in CA… i dont have any employees or anything.
would i still have to charge taxes?
Jere answers:
If you start making over $5000 a year then I would look into taxes and such. If you start making money and you want to right off the cost of your business then you will have to. Depending also were you live you will also have to get a permit to sell in your state and then a Business license and tax ID from the Gov. There are places on line – google it

Sandy asks…
What is the best place to incorporate an online business that has 1 to 3 employees? I don’t like taxes!?
I am creating an onlinebusiness. It looks like Wyoming or Nevada will be the best places to incorporate. I don’t know how much difference either will make. I want to pay as little in taxes as possible and have as little paperwork as possible and as few reports to the state as possible. Does anyone know the place to incorporate where all these ‘wants’ would be fulfilled?
Jere answers:
~~When we were checking it out Nevada was the cheapest as far as corporate taxes.
However where your employees live will determine what payroll taxes must be paid.
Here are my recommendations. For incorporating we used and loved www.smallbiz.com They have all states available and have live help via phone if you have questions. It was 1/4 the cost of anywhere I checked into, and I can’t believe how smooth and easy the paperwork went.
Check out www.intuit.com This company has payroll options available, for any state, all automated ,and many other features that will help with what you want. Both reputable companies, and you et your monies worth! This is the QuickBooks Company.
Good luck in your endeavor!~~

How do I set up taxes for an online retail business?
Hi I’m currently in the process of starting an online retail business targeted at selling popular technology items to students at a local university. I will not have a physical store, as the items will be delivered directly to the student housing. However as I look for information about taxes, there doesn’t seem to be much information about taxation and certificates needed for online businesses. Since I’m selling stuff, I will need to charge sales tax. That makes me think I need to register the business as if it were an actual store. I’m just really confused about what forms and certificates I need to get to operate an online retail business. Any help would be appreciated. I’m located in Indiana if that helps at all.
Jere answers:
For sales tax issues, you need to contact the Secretary of State or Department of Revenue in the State you live in. They can tell you what types of certifications you may need and how to report your sales tax. As far as the IRS goes, you need to estimate what you think you annual earnings will be and make quarterly estimated tax payments. Whatever you do, keep excellent records of your income and expenses. Visit www.irs.gov for more details on estimated tax payments and small business help.

Now i just try to get a service that will let me send emails to anyone, so i can do my emailmarketing campaign. And it must be FREE. There are many e-marketing service free trails. Though many of them have anti-spam policies.
Go to:
http://email-marketing-service-review.toptenreviews.com/,
and find out how can you do a campaign with any company reviewed.
Take a moment to think about how you would really answer this question. If given enough thought just about any business owner who utilizes the Internet for any purpose will likely find that whether or not they intentionally organized an Internet marketingcampaign, they may already be marketing their products and services on the Internet. This article will examine some subtle ways business owners may already be marketing their business on the Internet.
Do you have a website for your business? Business owners who answer yes to this question are already marketing their products or servicesonline just by virtue of the fact that they have a websiteonline. Having a live website means there is the potential for curious Internet users to access your website. You may not be actively promoting your website but you may still find that your websitegenerates interest in your products despite the lack of promotional endeavors; this is a form of passive marketing.
Do you participate in message boards and include a link to your website in your signature? Again business owners who answer yes to this question are already marketing their websiteonline. Savvy business owners realize the importance of participation in industry related message boards to create an interest in their products and services, establish themselves as knowledgeable about the industry and offer a link to their own website even if it is in the signature line of their posts. However, even business owners who do not realize this may already be inadvertently enjoying the benefits of Internet marketing which result from message board participation just by doing something they enjoy and may be doing as a form of leisure activity.
Do you include keywords which are relevant to your business in the content of your website? Business owners who answer yes to this question are also already marketing on the Internet by optimizing their website for these keywords. These search engine optimization (SEO) affects the websites whether or not they were even aware of the concept of keyword density and how it can help to SEO a website. Business owners will likely use certain words often depending on the type of products and services they offer just because it is natural and logical to do so. This tendency, however, can result in search engines boosting your websiterankings for these particular keywords. The concept of SEO is much more involved and complex than simply using keywords frequently but business owners can gain some benefit just by naturally applying relevant keywords to their website.
Do you solicit feedback from your customersonline? This is yet another example of how business owners may be accidentally marketing their business on the Internet. Most business owners realize the importance of soliciting feedback from customers for business purposes and business owners who offer productsonline might solicit feedback in the form of onlinesurveys. Although the business owners may be doing this simply for a business purpose the fact that it is done online makes it fall into the category of Internet marketing.
We have already discussed several ways in which business owners may already be marketingonline but what about business owners who want to have an increased online presence? Business owners who may already be marketingonline accidentally may wish to launch a full scale Internet marketingcampaign. The best way to do this is to hire a consultant with experience in Internet marketing to assist you in creating a campaign which is effective for your target audience.
I’m wondering where I can find onlinebusinesscourses. I have training as a journalist, but my mother and I own a coffee company and I would like to have some background. I have no money right now to pay for courses, so I am interested in mainly free options, but any little bit helps!
Thanks in advance!
Jere answers:
There was a very similar question asked right before yours so let me post my answer:
If you just want to get an insight into certain areas, you may be able to find some good online sources for free but taking classes will cost you money. Even audit courses (the ones that are not for credit and they are designed for people like you who want to learn more) cost money. Real college classes at an accredited online university cost as much as they do at most brick and mortar universities.

My boyfriend would like to start studying again but he only finished High school back in Turkey and doesn’t even have his transcripts here in UK. He would like to study English Language at uni but he doesn’t fulfill official requirements. On one of university’s website it says that other than A levels or international baccalaureate they accept people with BTEC National Diploma DMM…I’ve tried looking up on Edexcel website but I only got more confused…what is BTEC? How long would it take to get BTEC national Diploma? I understood DMM stands for their marking scheme…I read u can do it along A levels so Is it distance/online learning? How expensive would it be to get BTEC National Diploma? Can you do BTEC in English (as a subject) or you can choose business or health studies and get the national diploma and it will still be alright to apply for BA Honours in English Language? I’m so sorry for silly questions but I find it too confusing and really need help 🙂 I’ve done A levels in one of EU countries so didn’t have that problem and don’t know how to go around it now :-/ Thank you very much indeed!
Jere answers:
A BTEC is a course that is 100% coursework meaning that you don’t have to do any exams to pass it, all the work has to be typed up and handed in. It takes about 2 years to complete a BTEC National. No you can’t study English Literature as a BTEC National, you have to do GCSE English Language first and then do A Level English Language to be able to go to university. I have no idea, about how much it will cost to study a BTEC but I’m sure it would cost thousands of pounds to study it because you’re from overseas.
Carol asks…
How hard are A Levels?
I want to do an online course, and considering taking an A Level.
I’m 15 years old and doing my GCSE’s.
However, I’m predicted either an A, A* or distinction for all my subjects (I do GCSE Maths, Double Science, English/lit., R.E., ICT, History, Spanish and BTECBusiness) and I’m taking GCSE Maths a year early and doing the Free Standing Maths Qualification in that period. Plus I’m doing an ICT course that gives me 2 GCSE and just finished the The BCS Digital Creator Award which is worth 1 GCSE. So I like to think of myself as quite smart for my age.
If I do choose to do an A Level, I’m willing to put in the effort; I’ve got quite a lot of free time even with my school work.
I’m thinking about taking A Level Sociology, specifically. Is that too hard? Should I do a GCSE course instead?
Jere answers:
If you’re predicted an A/A* I think you can handle A Levels, especially Sociology it’s not too hard of a subject.
Lisa asks…
Can someone please make this a little more cohearent?
I am currently studying a BusinessBTEC level 3. On this course I have to do a dumber of assighnments and compleat ethem to deadlines. I am 18 and want to make extra income whilst also learning about marketing through this mystory shopping opertunity. I spend a lot of time online buying and selling on ebay. I am flexible being a student and have a summer where I could do a lot of work for you. I enjoy any aspect of business and am really interested in learning as much as I can about the retail and marketing side of things.
I am also interested in art and I enjoy creating detailed sketches and water colours. I have also studyed some construction and gained cards like a CSCS card which shows I have common schence when it comes to what to do in certain situations
I really would love to do some mystery shopping as a learning opertunity and to help benifit retail stores especialy in this current econemy.

Im not to sure, if this is is okay about the Ryan-air line?
Well i’ve applied for Ryan-air online application form and i just have received an email from them asking for my CV and a picture and they have also invited me for the presentation on 29 December.
Problem is that i haven’t done any courses of travel and tourism but i have passed my BTECBusiness Course and i have informed them about this but they haven’t said nothing, so im so confused if i should go for it or not.
???
Oh Sorry i meant Ryanair…
Jere answers:
Firstly they are called Ryanair, if you are to stand any chance of getting a job with them, its a good idea to know the right company name.
Secondly, you sent them a CV for a job, your CV obviously meets there criteria otherwise they would not invite you to an open day.
Helen asks…
urgent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?
do you think i should leave college and just do online learn direct course. i am doingbtec travel and tourism level 3 and there are courses in business in the learn direct website. i want to do something in businesss in future.please help me decide the best way to gain qualifications. i am willing to do hard work at kome if i haven’t got lessons to go to!!!!!!!!!! by the way i am 18 an it my first year in the course
Jere answers:
If you have the opportunity of doing the course you want , at college then I suggest you should really stick to that.
During any learning it is always good to get differing approaches and points of view as this will give you a more rounded education
Also not all the benefits of college are the education !! There is also the social side which can add to your life
Yes by all means back up what you learn at college on the Internet , library etc. But keep attending classes
Good Luck

As with any marketingcampaign you may run to assist your business, it is important to track the results of your Internet marketingcampaign. This should be done on a continual basis so you can ensure the strategies you are utilizing are working. It can also help you to determine when a strategy is not working so you do not continue to invest time and money on a strategy which is not beneficial to your business. This article will discuss some of the options for tracking the results of your Internet marketingcampaign.
Business owners who use banner ads have a simple way to track whether or not their banner ads are effective. This is possible because they can place code in the banner ad which will supply them with feedback each time a user clicks on the banner ad. This information is transmitted to the business owner so he can evaluate which of his banner ads are generating the most interest. If the business owner is currently using two different styles of banner ads on comparable websites he can use this information to determine which design is most effective. This is important because if one style is significantly more effective than the other it might be worthwhile to convert all of the banner ads to this style or to make changes which will make the two different styles more similar.
If the business owner is using the same banner ad on a number of different websites, the feedback can help him determine which websites are generating the most traffic for him. If he determines some websites are not generating a great deal of traffic it makes sense to discontinue the banner ads on these websites as they are not cost effective.
Business owners who utilize affiliatemarketing during their Internet marketingcampaign may also be interested in tracking the results of their affiliates. This is necessary because affiliates are often paid according to the results they generate but it is also useful for determining which affiliates are most successful. This information can be useful if different ads are running on different affiliatewebsites because it can be an indication of which websites are most effective. Tracking the results of affiliatemarketing is similar to tracking the results of banner ads. You can place code in the ads which appear on the affiliates website to provide you with feedback each time a user clicks on the ad.
Another way to evaluate the results of an Internet marketingcampaign is to simply closely monitor your own websitetraffic and sales. This is especially important when it is done in consideration with the type of marketing you are currently running. For example if you launch a new banner ad campaign with ads appearing on numerous high profile websites concurrently, you may notice an almost immediate increase in websitetraffic and sales. This information most likely indicates the banner ads are successful.
However, the problem with using this type of evaluation is it does not pinpoint successes or failures. If you launch your banner ad on five different websites at once you may notice an immediate increase in traffic and sales but will not be aware which websites are the most effective. For example, your advertisement may be running on five different websites but only one of these websites may be attracting attention for your business. Similarly if you are running several different styles of ads, some styles may attract more attention than others but you will not be able to differentiate simply by evaluating your websitetraffic and sales. The other four may only be generating minimal interest in your products or services. If you wish to use this method for evaluating the feedback on your Internet marketing efforts, it is worthwhile to only make one change at a time so you can more accurately determine what is working and what is not. Alternatively you can ask customers to fill out a survey stating where they saw your advertisement so you can solicit feedback on your marketing efforts.
The best internet marketing strategy is to build a list. Building a list starts from offering freebies that would help the community. This will help you build a relationship with the potential customers making them subscribed to your opt ins for free materials that they can use.
If you are set up already with a list of customer emails and contacts you can then start selling products to them. In that way, they will trust you and you can get sales out of your list. If we say you have a list with thousands of subscribers, I’m sure not all of them will buy but most of them will. Even with a percentage of all subscribers is good enough to get sales.
Building a contact list is same as building a good relationship with your potential customers. One way of earning trust from the customers is by providing them useful resources for free. Giving those free materials and even products will strengthen your buyer-seller relationship and will give them the reason to continue subscribing for your products. As you are building your contact list you are also converting these numbers into sales as they will become your permanent customers.

How can i sell my goods online too. Do i need to consult any internetmarketing strategy consulting firm? Is that affordable?
Jere answers:
I would suggest starting off with ebay.com first. It is relatively easy to set up and very cost effective. You can also start your own store own ebay and have customers shop your store on ebay, and already have a large market for your product. I would definetly recommend that you research ebay first and maybe give it a try first. At lot of people use ebay to start and continue their business online even when they maintain there own website due to the fact that so many people already shop there and its a new way to build clients.
Consider looking at a few of their tutorials.

What is the correct address for the Mail Preference Service?
I’m trying to get off the DirectMarketingAssociation mailing list so I will stop receiving junk mail and I have several addresses (2 in Carmel NY with different po boxes, one in Farmington NY) and their official website says I need to give them a check for $1 to get off the list but all the other websites don’t say anything about that (including the USPS website). Does anyone know what the correct address and instructions are?
Jere answers:
The Mail Preference Service division of the Direct Marketing Association (known as DMA) compiles a list of people who do not want junk mail. This list is provided to any company who requests it, usually magazines.
Write Mail Preference Service and request your name, address, and phone number be deleted from all mailing and marketing lists. Provide them with three spellings or variations of your name, as well as with any other names at your address (including previous occupants). They will retain your information for five years. At that time you should write again. Be sure to write when you move. Send your name and address. Be sure to sign and date your letter.

Joseph asks…
Can I trust that company that supposedly stops you from getting paper junk mail?
This may seem like a stupid question, but you know that company, the DMA (DirectMarketingAssociation), the company that is supposed to remove your name from the junk mail list. What keeps them from doing something shady with your information? How can we trust they don’t give our information out to other companies?
Jere answers:
Of course, in this day and age, it is hard to know who to trust. But, if you are willing to trust government (at least on something like this), check out the government link regarding this stuff:
http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/alerts/alt063.shtm
Not only do they provide links on whom to contact to stop junk mail, email, etc., but there is a bunch of stuff onthe bottom to complain if something bad happens. A little bit of extra protection.

How to stop junk mail flyers?
How do you stop the junk mail flyers from stores and restaurants that get crammed into my mail box – a lot of these are not addressed to anyone
I already opted out on the DirectMarketingAssociation (DMA) but it didn’t worl
AND how do you stop people from leaving flyers at your door (that do not come in the mail)

I’m having the same issue. I hate getting those darn flyers on my door. My only idea is to leave a sign saying “NO MORE FLYERS or I’m going to burn your damn business down!!!” Too harsh?

Other than opting out of pre-screened credit and insurance offers, and the federal “do not call” registry****
**** and the directmarketingassociation at www.dmaconsumers.org, are there any other opt out programs from credit and insurance offers?

Check to see if your state has an opt-out list for consumers. Ours does (Kentucky). It’s wonderful not to be interrupted by a marketer while I make dinner.
Hello, I need to set up an a businessbanking account in the UK. Is there a bank that will let me do this entirely online. Most banks want to contact me on phone or arrange a meeting in person. I would much rather do it all online, is this possible. Thanks
Jere answers:
Usually to set up any bank account you have to prove your identity, Passport, Utility Bills etc. Unless you have a bank account already then the answer is no. If you have an account then I suggest you contact them and ask them if it is possible, they will probably still want you to go in and talk about it, unfortunately.
Ken asks…
What should I do if I suspect that someone is using my business email address to sign up with online banking ?
Every so often my business email address gets email alerts from various different banks regarding onlinebanking alerting us about people accessing it or setting it up etc.
Is there anything that can be done ?
Jere answers:
Multiple things can be going on:
These might be phishing attempts, not from the real bank, but faked to look like it; meant to get you to do some further action the mail includes (links, phone numbers, etc).
Your machine (Windows by any chance?) has been infected by any one of several ‘banking Trojans’ that has slurped your info and now crooks are attempting to access your bank(s) or set up some kind of identity theft scam.
Using a non-Internet landline phone, call these banks (number from a reliable source) and inquire about fraudulent activity.
I advise you also take the following action:
Credit & ID theft steps
Credit Report Request Service (US Gov. Approved site)
“This central site allows you to request a free credit file disclosure, commonly called a credit report, once every 12 months from each of the nationwide consumer credit reporting companies: Equifax, Experian and TransUnion.”
https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/index.jsp
Note you can get all 3 reports at once, but since these are almost always identical, an alternate method would be to get 1 at a time, and rotate each agency every 3rd month. That way you can monitor your credit status year ’round for free.
Constant vigilance is now mandatory to assure you’ve not been compromised.
And stop using Windows to do banking. Use Linux.

Adding a Business as Payee on Online Banking?
Good morning (EDT)!
I have a small business here in Canada and am interested in potentially adding my business to the payee list on onlinebanking so that my clients can deposit directly to me.
I wanted to get some advice from someone who has done this or knows about the process. I have asked the bank and they haven’t gotten back to me yet.
What’s involved in doing this? Does it cost anything and if so, how much? Is there documentation available online regarding doing this? If I set up with my bank, do I have to set up with other banks I want to be listed with or can my bank coordinate this all for me?
Thanks for any help you can offer.
Jere answers:
In the US, it mostly depends on how many people are sending bills to that payee. The more bills get sent out, the bigger likelihood the bank is going to want to stop writing checks and paying postage and will just direct deposit the bills.
Sounds like you’re not running a megacorp, so you’re probably stuck getting paper checks every time someone wants to pay you.
Jenny asks…
What type of banking is needed to start a small online business?
What type of banking is needed to start a small onlinebusiness?
Hello,
Me and my Friend want to start a website selling items. We are not sure about banking though, what bank account we need and how to open them. We are only 15.
Thanks for your help.
Jere answers:
You can open an account as sando says but you will still need a bank account to transfer the money to because they do not write checks anymore they do direct deposits. You can also start a merchant account which allows you to use all the major credit cards but of course you need to have a bank account to do this and set it up through them.
As far as a what type of bank account you need is another question. If you plan to run the business as a sole proprietor under your Social Security number then you can open a bank account in your name with a DBA attached to it (Doing Business As) which is what ever you choose to name your business. You want to check to make sure the name you use is not already active or you may be in trademark or copyright infringement.
Since you are doing it with a friend you will most likely set the business up as a partnership and I don’t think you can do this under a basic business license, you may have to incorporate as a limited partnership, it’s something to check out. The banks may also require you to incorporate in order to open a business bank account. The best thing to do is call your local city government and have the question answered about partnerships then talk to the bank to see what is required of you two to open a bank account.
The other problem I see is that you are 15 and the banks may not allow you to open a bank account of any type without a parent or guardian to co-sign the account so check this out. The same applies to forming a business.
Sorry I can’t be of more help but I hope this gets you going in the right direction.
Good luck to you and your friend.

Membership number should come via email but you can find that out now by visiting the website going to the log in details and selecting forgotten membership number. It will ask you for certain information and give you the membership number then and there. Now you have your PIN sentry reader you can log on with your debit card and PIN number. What type of business services would you wish to see offered online?
The question pretty much explains itself. If you were given the opportunity where you could have a business offer its servicesonline, what business would you go for? One that you don’t see quite often even though you think it should be made available.
NOTE: By services I don’t mean buying things…Services are things you pay for but don’t really have a physical item of that payment (For instance if you payed for a book..you get a book which is a physical item..but a service would be paying someone to clean the house or tutor you and such)
Some business owners opt to start an affiliatemarketingcampaign as part of their overall marketingstrategy. In most cases the affiliatemarketingcampaign is only a small portion of the overall marketingstrategy but there are some business owners who opt to rely exclusively on this type of marketing. The main purpose of doing this is to save money while still achieving valuable advertising. However, once a business becomes more successful they should consider being more proactive and combining affiliatemarketing with other types of Internet marketing such as placing banner ads and orchestrating an email marketingcampaign. This article will take a look at what affiliatemarketing is and will provide insight into why this is popular and how it can be used effectively.
An affiliatemarketingcampaign is essentially a situation where other website owners place ads for your business on their websites. These website owners are known as affiliates. It is important to understand how this type of marketing works. In general the affiliates are given code for your banner ad to place on their website and given the freedom to promote their own website as they see fit. In promoting their website they are also attracting attention to your website because of the banner ad directing visitors to your own website.
One of the most appealing elements of affiliatemarketing is the affiliate is only compensated when he produces a desired result. This means the business owner is not obligated to pay the affiliate unless the affiliate is successful. Success may be defined as generating traffic to the website, resulting in a sale or even resulting in the Internet user registering on your website or filling out a survey. The compensation for affiliates is generally based on cost per click, cost per lead or cost per sale. Cost per click and cost per lead are usually paid in terms of a flat fee which is awarded to the affiliate each time an Internet user either simply clicks through the banner ad on his website or performs a specific action after clicking through the ad. Cost per sale may result in the affiliate being awarded a flat fee or a percentage of the sale depending on the agreement between the business owner and the affiliate.
The most effective use of affiliatemarketing is to actively seek out affiliates with a proven track record of promoting the businesses which they support. Most affiliateprograms are open to anyone with a website and it is not necessarily damaging to allow those who are not particularly knowledgeable about marketing to run your banner ad but it is far more worthwhile to seek out affiliates who are quite adept and generating websitetraffic to their own website. This is important because the more visitors they receive each month the more likely your website it to receive interest from visitors who click on the affiliates banner ad.
Another aspect of affiliatemarketing which can contribute to success or failure is the design of your banner ads. It is important to remember affiliatemarketing is viewed the same way other types of marketing are viewed and care should be taken to create banner ads which will be appealing to your target audience. This means everything from the colors of your ad to the size and style of the font should be carefully considered to create an appealing advertisement.

How do I go about trying to find investors for a great internet business plan?
I have a great plan of starting an online business. How can I approach investors and what do I need to do in order to achieve this?
Jere answers:
Assuming you have already approached your friends, relatives and colleagues, you may want to explore possible investment assistance from angel investors
Business 2.o Magazine http://money.cnn.com/2006/02/28/magazines/business2/angelinvestor/index.htm has a very good article on angel investors, what they typically look for, what kind of investments they support, etc.
You may want to go and pitch your ideas where investors gather. Here are some places where angel investors come and those looking for funding can come and pitch their business plans. Be sure to have a strong business plan and describe what makes your business idea stand apart:

I have a cunning internet business plan?
Building profitable websites for companies whether they want me to or not. If they like it, they can offer to buy them off me. I have trouble getting employment even though I’m quite capable of building profitable websites, so this seems like a good course of action for me. Any ideas?
Jere answers:
Good idea. You should build a standard sales pitch emphasizing the benefits of having a web presence, and how the cost of your website can be paid for by adding only [xx] new customers! Should pretty much sell itself, as long as you keep your cost reasonable.
I’m surprised every day how many businesses do not have a website. Part of my job is researching new companies/sources of supply, and my best tool is the internet. No website, no business.

How to plan for my internet business to go IPO?

2. Do I have to find investors?
Thank you.

It would be better if you wait it out and get enough traffic to land to advertisors. Thats where the big money is.

do i need to register my online business with any government agency?
i just started an onlinebusiness and am working on getting it up and running but i want to do it the total legal way.. do i need to register it with any government agency or get a business license or anything?
thanks
Jere answers:
Most businesses are required to obtain a business license, even if the business is an online business operating out of someone’s home. Requirements vary by city and state, so you want to check with your local government office. You can use the Business.gov website to get information online about your city/county/state requirements.
When you start a company, the legal name of your business is required on government forms, like your applications for an employer tax ID, business licenses, permits, etc. You will also need a business name for important business tasks such as opening a bank account, signing a business contract, etc.
If you are the sole owner of a business, by default, your personal name becomes the legal name of the business. If you are doing business or selling products under a name other than your personal name, you’ll probably need to register your business name.

Daniel asks…
How exactly do email marketing companies work?
Do you just pay them to send out emails to an opt in list and design if needed or are there other fees too, like fees for links and fees for every time that link is clicked?
Have you ever used on of those mass email marketing companies? Do they work?
I’m talking about the ones that provide millions of email addresses for $30.
Jere answers:
I have found the list provided by most cheap (under$200) services are very poor quality. Most of the e-Mail accounts were at one time valid but have been closed for a very long time. Many of the accounts are hotmail and Yahoo which are also opened and closed faster than a windmill spins in a tycoon. Effective e-Mail marketing requires not only valid accounts but it also requires a “filtered” and “targeted” audience.
Filtered: The members of the list have had the opportunity to opt out or get off of the mailing list and have instead chosen to stay listed.
Targeted: The products and services you sell are the products and services people on the list are interested in reading about and buying. You don’t want to try to sell dust busters to a list developed by pornography web sites. Selling a dust buster would make better sales from a list developed by Home and Garden web sites.
Ask the list developer what the ratios are. Ratios of valid mail accounts to dropped. Ratio of sales to number of leads provided. Ask what the target audience of the list is. Ask how the list has been developed and how it has been tested. Ask how many copies of the list have been sold and how many more times will they be selling the same list. Ask for a 30 day money back policy or free trial period.
John asks…
What are some good EMail Marketing companies?

One very popular Internet marketingstrategy is to publish and distribute an e-newsletter on a regular basis. E-newsletters are essentially emails which may contain content, graphics, links and subtle forms of advertising. In general e-newsletters should be informative in nature and useful to the recipient but should also serve some type of marketing purpose as well. This article will examine e-newsletters and explain how they can be used effectively as a marketingstrategy.
The first item to consider when attempting using an e-newsletter as a marketingstrategy is the distribution list for the e-newsletter. This is very important because you want to ensure you are distributing your e-newsletter to recipients who will be interested in your products and services and will likely view the e-newsletter as worthwhile instead of viewing it as spam. Using deceptive tactics to harvest email addresses and sending out your e-newsletters blindly to a large audience is not a good marketingstrategy. This strategy is not worthwhile for a couple of reasons. Most importantly this type of strategy does not help you to reach your target audience. You may reach some members of your target audience by accident but are not likely to reach a large population of this intended audience.
Additionally, sending your e-newsletter unsolicited to a large audience with no interest in your products and services will likely result in your e-newsletter being viewed as spam. This can have more serious consequences than simply being a wasted effort. Specifically, recipients of your e-newsletter may block your email address or even report you to their Internet service provider as a spammer. This can have damaging consequences such as loss of business or even harsher penalties.
A better way to establish a distribution list for your e-newsletter is to set up a forum for interested potential customers to register to receive additional information from you. This could include registering with your websiteonline and requesting to be added to your email distribution list or providing an email address and requesting additional information in some other manner. Sending your e-newsletter to recipients who have specifically requested more information is a good idea because these Internet users are already interested in your products and are likely to appreciate the e-newsletter instead of viewing it as spam.
The content of your e-newsletter should be considered next. This may include the actual copy contained within the e-newsletter as well as graphics, links and advertisements. Keeping direct advertising to a minimum is ideal but it is acceptable to use soft advertising techniques to promote your products or services. The copy in your e-newsletter should insightful information which will be useful to your readers. You may wish to include objective articles, product reviews or shorter articles containing useful tips. Links to your own website or to other websites which might be of use to your target audience can also be included. These links may come in the form of direct advertisements or the links may be embedded in the copy of the e-newsletter when appropriate.
If you plan to utilize an e-newsletter to promote your products or services, you should consider hiring an experienced writer to create the content for your website. This will help to ensure you are providing your readers with top quality content. Likewise if you intend to include graphics you should have a graphic designer assist you to ensure your e-newsletter looks professionally put together.

what other jobs a marketing mba can get other than direct selling, visiting customers houses .?
actually i am a very shy person,i complete my graduation in arts stream so i prefer marketing but dont want to engage myself in direct selling or maintaining customer relationship and visiting their houses.what are the others options before me after completing the marketing MBA.what are the other portfolios that i can work in future.
Jere answers:
You are potentially qualified to have your own successful Internet marketing business. You can be an anonymous marketer promoting products and services through content marketing. You can even conquer your own shyness eventually. Many of the IM big dogs are shy people.
Marketing in the manner that you described is a struggle. What you should do is not to go after your prospects but to do something where your prospects will naturally follow you. What you have in your head is a lot of practical advice. Share it with the world. Contribute content to the Internet. Write, publish, then earn recurring income.
You can start for free as there are free blogging platforms and hosted website facilities. You can even start just by creating topical content at Web 2.0 sites like HubPages and Squidoo.
Choose a niche market you find comfortable with. Build on it. Find affiliate programs to promote. Eventually you will master the nuances of Internet marketing and make more money than you would normally do while slaving for a day job.

Direct Sales Jobs?
Why does everyone think direct sales or directmarketingjobs are scams. I know there are a lot of scams out there, but how do I introduce my opportunity without someone writing it off as a scam ?

Hmm, thanks for your honest feedback, Amanda. I was trying to be as honest as possible because I did climb the corp ladder and decided to stay home to be with my son. The reason you can’t buy from my site is because we don’t “sell” the products ourselves. It’s called referral marketing – we refer consumers to the company. How else can I phrase that? I will try and update it, but would appreciate any additional feedback. Thanks!

How enjoyable is a job in outsourced direct marketing?
I’m currently happily working as a warehouse manager, but I have been offered a directmarketing job with slightly better pay. They offer similar benefits and advancement opportunities, I’m just wondering if the change in atmosphere and commute is worth it. The thing that concerns me is I don’t know if directmarketing is enjoyable or stressful. The job entails giving sales presentations to businesses. The products I’d sell would be conferencing and phone services.
So anyone who’s had or knows someone who has had a job like this tell me, is directmarketing a somewhat fun job or will I feel terrible and exhausted when I come home every day (based on the stress levels in this field)?
Jere answers:
Direct marketing is a completely different skillset, and it is definately stressful. You will be a salesperson, which requires you to really get out there and hustle. If you are a self-motivated person who is good at communication, people skills, and persuasion, go for it, but it will not be a walk in the park.
Call the company, pretending to be a stranger, ask to speak to one of thier direct marketers, and ask them for the lowdown.

Mandy asks…
Marketing jobs involving commercials?
I’ve recently become interested in getting a job in marketing. In the past I’ve only been interested in jobs in the film industry, but the industry doesn’t seem very reliable for getting a job. What marketingjobs involve commercials? I know directing commercials is an entirely different job, but are there any marking jobs that involve working with commercials, preferrably high-paying? I want to major in marketing and minor in telecommunication. Does this sound like a good idea? Also, are there any marketingjobs that involve computers and media other than the television?
Jere answers:
Graphic design is heavily computer based, and its marketing influence is widespread. Even if you don’t get a job in it, I’d suggest knowing your way around Photoshop just as a general beneficial skill. Marketing itself is a job, actually. You work within a company to market products. There’s also public relations, that seems to be more of an active job than a desk job though.
Basically, send your resume to the company, see what happens. You probably wont be placed in a high-paying position first off, but you work your way up the line by doing a good job. Most likely you’ll be a sales/marketing position.
I’d suggest going with Marketing/business/telecommunications. Double minor or double major if you can handle it. Companies drool all over MBAs.
They say that the only way to win in the Real Estate Biz is not to bluff, has anybody ever bluffed and won?
In his book “To be or Not to be Intimidated” Robert Ringer says that the only way to win in real estate negotiations is not to bluff. He says that whenever he said he’d walk out of a deal, he meant it and usually won. Has anybody ever bluffed and won a negotiation? What happened?
Jere answers:
People bluff in real estate all the time. When negotiations get tough, each agent wants the other agent to believe or convey the message that his side will walk if the other doesn’t comply but yet they go back and forth a couple more times and settle somewhere in the middle usually. So both bluff and both win many times.
It would feel good to walk when you say you’re going to but the reality is your client usually still wants the home or the sale and you also want the deal.

You can take a look at LGN Revolution. It’s a home based business system for moms or dads. Your over head will depend on which level you choose. And a monthly fee of $25.95 to maintain your website. You’ll receive many tools for marketing, free members only marketing training 4 days a week, The CEO/Founder speaks to members on a regular and almost daily basis. 100% commissions goes to members of LGN Revolution. This is the only system that allows for you to brand yourself while using their system and tools.
James Ward the CEO works hard daily to make sure that the system is as easy as possible for all members, that they have the marketing tools so that you are saved extra expense from having to use additional marketing systems, that they are able to brand themselves, and constantly make changes to improve the system about every 6 months over the last two years. I can go on and on, but the truth of the matter is that the decision is yours. If you’ve have any questions you can request for chat or a call back from a member.

Are the cleats from prosoccerstore.biz real nike mercural superflys?
I’d to get some items wholesale fr US. However, I was asked to furnish Tax Id ,etc. I’m not from US. How?
I’m not from USA, I’m planning todo a onlinebusinessinSingapore. What should I doto get myself a Tax Id?
The saddest part is I have been trying to explain to them that I need not have a Tax ID as I’m not selling in US, or setting up my businessin US. However, they insist that this is a procedure. They are already aware that I’m from Singapore after umpteen times of emphasis 🙂
Jere answers:
“Tax ID #” is for companies. Individuals in the USA use their Social Security number for tax purposes.
You can set up a company in the USA and just apply for a Tax ID number. You do not have to incorporate if you don’t want to; a sole proprietor, partnership, etc. Can apply and get a Tax ID number. I have one for my Sole Proprietorship and a separate one for my Corporation (I am a US citizen and my companies are here). I believe you may need to have someone represent you with a physical address here.
The costs are negligible, but I have no idea if there is much red tape for a foreign national to go through. I can tell you that Singapore is highly respected in our US business community. Also, my daughter had a tremendous time in your country, found people very respectful and respectable.
For the cheapest, fastest, and simplest way, I think I would go to a search at google or yahoo, put in “tax id number”, find the IRS site, and follow those instructions. Avoid the advertisements, as they will just charge you money for what you can do yourself. I did mine in minutes, for no additional fee.

Jere answers:
If you are a small time seller or buyer why not try Ebay, Yahoo auction, mocca or your various hobbies try the relevant group forum where you can also sell and buy. As for operating a bussiness in Singapore one had to be register with ACRA (formely know as the Registry of Companies) and IDA (Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore) check with them whether you should register with them for your ecommerce.

Do I need to copyright/trademark my designs & name for an online business?
Hi everyone. I wish to start an onlinebusiness selling self-designed printed goods/merchandises, and all designs will revolve around a female character originated from me. I do hope that maybe one day, I can open a shop as well. But I do have few questions regarding Intellectual Property, and I’m hoping that you guys can help me with them. 🙂
1) Is there a need to register the trademark for the company’s name?
2) Can I trademark the female? Or is it auto-copyrighted by law? If not, how can I protect my designs?
3) Must I register the company?
Btw, I live inSingapore.
Jere answers:
The company’s name can’t be trademarked. An image incorporating the name is what is trademarked. That is, the font and layout is part of the trademark. If you try to trademark a name itself, it will be too vague and the mark will likely be rejected.
The female is not trademarked unless it is an icon of your business. If you wish, trademarking it may be done so that it can be used as a recognized icon for your business. Yes, it is yours by default by copyright law, but the only true defense against copyright infringement is to register a copyright legally, to prove ownership in a court of law.
The company does not normally need to be legally registered. If you register the company, it earns money and pays taxes. If you do not register the company, you earn money and pay taxes. I believe any business that earns over a certain amount needs to be registered for tax purposes, but this will depend on your local laws.

If you plan to do some Internet marketing to promote your business endeavor, you should seriously consider email marketing as at least one tier of your Internet marketingcampaign. Many business owners shy away from email marketing because they believe all email marketingcampaigns are purely spam. However, this is not true and not partaking in this type of marketing can cause your business to lose out on a great deal of business. By not appealing to potential customers via email, your business may lose a great deal of business to competitors who are using email marketingcampaigns to reach customers around the world. However, the first step of an email marketingcampaign should be creating an email distribution list. This article will discuss some popular options for doing this and should help to the reader to learn more about what is acceptable and what is not when it comes to email marketing.
Once you have made the decision to start using email marketing to promote your business you are likely facing the dilemma of compiling an email distribution list. This is essentially a list of email addresses to which you will email your advertising and promotional materials. One common way to gain a list of email addresses is to purchase a list from distributors. However, this method is not very effective at all and we do not recommend it. The problem with purchasing an email list if you have no way of knowing whether or not the members of the list would have any interest at all in your products or services. This is very important because while you want to reach a large audience with your email marketing you also want this audience to be members of your overall target audience.
When you purchase an email list you may be sending your email messages to some users who might be interested but this is largely coincidental and is not likely to be well received because the message was not solicited.
Internet users are very quick to delete materials they believe to be spam without even opening or reading the emails. In fact some Internet service providers include spam filters which may automatically delete your emails if your messages are deemed to be spam. These filters run complex algorithms on the subject heading and content of the message to determine whether or not it is spam and are quite adept at weeding out spam. Therefore you run the risk of having your email marketing effort turn out to be a complete waste if the majority of recipients never even read or receive the message.
A far better way to create an email distribution list for your email marketingcampaign is to ask current customers as well as interested potential customers to register with your website to receive additional information and periodic updates about your products and services as well as other information which might be of interest to them. This provides you with a database of email addresses from current customers as well as potential customers who have a genuine interest in your products and services and who are interested in learning more about these products and services.
Once you have a list of interested customers or potential customers you can send emails or create e-newsletter for distribution to the members of your email list. These documents should contain a wealth of valuable information as well as a soft sell pitch for your products and services. This information will be valued by the readers and may help to persuade them to try your products and services.
You might also want to include useful links to either your website as well as other websites which may be of interest to your readers. Your content should also contain a portion which urges the reader to take a specific action such as making a purchase or at least investigating a product further.
E-Antiques Inc. is an Internet-based market maker for buyers and sellers of antique furniture and jewellery. T?
E-Antiques Inc. is an Internet-based market maker for buyers and sellers of antique furniture and jewellery. The company allows sellers of antique items to list descriptions of those items on the E-Antiques web site. Interested buyers review the web site for antique items and then enter into negotiations directly with the seller for purchase. E-Antiques receives a commission for each transaction.
The company, founded in 2000, initially obtained capital through equity funding provided by the founders and through loan proceeds from financial institutions. In early 2003, E-Antiques became a publicly held company when it began selling shares on a national stock exchange. Although the company had never generated profits, the stock offering generated huge proceeds based on favourable expectations for the company, and the stock quickly increased to above $100 per share.
Management used the proceeds to payoff loans to financial institutions and to reacquire shares issued to the company founders. Proceeds were also used to fund purchases of hardware and software to support the online market. The balance of unused proceeds is currently held in the company’s bank accounts.
Required
a.Before performing analytical procedures related to the capital acquisition and repayment cycle accounts, consider how the process of becoming publicly held would affect accounts at E-Antiques Inc. Describe whether each of the following balances would increase, decrease, or experience no change between 2002 and 2003 because of the public offering:
(1)Cash
(2)Accounts receivable
(3)Property, plant, and equipment
(4)Accounts payable
(5)Long-term debt
(6)Common stock
(7)Retained earnings
(8)Dividends
(9)Revenues
b.During 2004, the stock price for E-Antiques plummeted to around $19 per share. No new shares were issued during 2004. Describe the impact of this drop in stock price on following accounts for the year ended December 31, 2004:
(1)Common stock
(2)Retained earnings
c.How does the decline in stock price affect your assessment of client business risk and acceptable audit risk?
Jere answers:
Although the company had never generated profits, the stock offering generated huge proceeds based on favourable expectations for the company, and the stock quickly increased to above $100 per share.
Management used the proceeds to payoff loans to financial institutions and to reacquire shares issued to the company founders. Proceeds were also used to fund purchases of hardware and software to support the online market. The balance of unused proceeds is currently held in the company’s bank accounts.
Looking at the above information, these accounts would have increase:
1) Cash
(3) Property, plant, and equipment
(6) ? Common stock–Even though the money was used to reaquire shares from the owner’s, the Common Stock account should have increased.
(8) ? Dividends–Only if dividends were declared. If not, there would be no change.
These Accounts would have decreased:
(5) Long-term debt
b. During 2004, the stock price for E-Antiques plummeted to around $19 per share. No new shares were issued during 2004. Describe the impact of this drop in stock price on following accounts for the year ended December 31, 2004:
A change in market price will not affect any accounts.
(1) Common stock
(2) Retained earnings
c. How does the decline in stock price affect your assessment of client business risk and acceptable audit risk?
It should increase both.

As expected, there is no Cust. Service Tel.# for GiftHouse.us.com and their contracted site Bullseye Marketing, Inc. GOOD NEWS IS, I have found Maryland State Attorney General Filings against this internet company who rides on the back on Bullseye Marketing, Inc. I’m searching for IP addresses in order to forward to the State of Washington Attorney Generals office. Any help is appreciated.

Hi,
I have a lot of experience marketing small companies online (I have 3 companies). One of the best ways is to sign up at business directories and protals. These are basically listings of businesses (simliar to the phone book). The advantage is that these portals usually get a lot of traffic and they’re ranked high on Google because of all the quality links they contain.
My favorite portal is called Directory Exclusive. I signed up a few weeks ago because they’re giving a away a free business card holder when a person enter’s their company info. I received it in the mail 3 days ago =)
I don’t know if they still have that promotion, but you can try to get the free card holder here:

Richard asks…
Do you think Yahoo! Inc will re-enter the China Internet Market now that Google is out?
Seriously, they never had any issues with human rights when the Chinese government wanted to seek information on any of the groups opposed to their rule. Yahoo cooperated fully with the Chinese and the information they provided to the Chinese government resulted in several people being tossed into Chinese prisons. Mr. Yang later settled with the families of those convicted by the Chinese courts to the tune of $100M, but only after Yahoo was brought up before a senate committee hearing on the issue. So, now that Google has decided to leave China due to censorship, will yahoo jump back in the ring in trying to boost their ad revenue? Remember, Yahoo makes 80% of their revenue from display ads posted on their sites. What do you think?

I am not so sure about it.

What is the difference between Yahoo AutoSync and Yahoo IntelliSync?
I am trying to sync my v3 motorola razr phone (that has mobile web) with my Yahoo calendar and address book. Is this possible ? i used the AutoSync for calendar and address book, it says the sync was successful for both. Cell service is spotty at best at home and nearest cell reliable area is about 15 miles down the road. Things too busy here to leave for just this reason, (home business, and construction, kids, preparing for party too! -aaaagh) I think maybe when i get into a reliable cell service I may see the fruits of my labor on Yahoo mobile web on the phone, but one last ?, when you sync your calendar and address book from Yahoo to your phone, does it send the – in the case of the Yahoo address book, right to your contacts area of your phone, or does it go to just a Yahoo online address book – like the same one on the PC? and same answer for the calendar– will it go to my phone’s application for calendar or a Yahoo online calendar?
sorry this question is so wordy- i
hep hekp hekp — this ? has been on here 3 days – and not one answer– c’mon now — where are you brainiacs- techies-geek squads — YA Wizards where all y’all confused in cali and need your wisdom!
i meant help help help — sorry – a type-o queen – too tired to spell check – oi!
Jere answers:
Apology accepted, m’am. That was wordy, and I’ll have to summarize, and even ask questions back.
OK: you’re synch’ing your device (Motorola Razor v3 )
with Yahoo.
You achieved the message: “sync was successful”
Good start.
However, if you are performing this process via a wireless (cellular provider or wi-fi) connection you may encounter difficulties.
Best to start with a foundation of sufficient “bars” if its a wireless internet connection.
If you did not yet read documentation that comes with any of your programs, do so. You’ll save yourself and others twobble.
Meanwhile, you’ll find others have asked questions, or pose your own, and get more exacting answers from moderated discussion lists at Yahoo Groups (Autosync) pages. It’s a Yahoo Group – can’t hurt.
Now, I hope you’re not reading this on your cellphone, ‘coz now it’s me who’s wordy.
Check out the Motorola site web pages.

My provider is Verizon Wireless and my 2-year discount on the phone does not come until next January. If you on a plan of $49.99 or higher and you have satisfied 12 months of having your existing phone, you would qualify for an early upgrade with a $20 processing fee. This would get you the discount price.

Also, consider signing up for an affiliate program. These programs enable you to advertise on other’s sites (your affiliates) and once a sale is made to you, your affiliates & the program are paid a commission.

What should I name my business?
I am going to start freelancing in online communications, social media, and website development, aimed primarily at small business, individuals and community groups, especially those who are not the most tech savvy, or who are taking their businessonline for the firs time, or want to start using social media for the first time.
But I’m having a hard time coming up with a name for it. 🙁
I want to communicate the following ideas: trust, reliability, friendly, partnership, making connections online in order to build community / audience
What do you think of:
Adelante
Advance
Dispatch
Drive
Corral
Evolve
Boost
Conquer
Progress
Fetch
Flock
And what about adding one of these to the end, or as a subtitle: Online Communications BusinessServices Online Engagement Services
Solutions Services
Do you like any of these? Or would you call it something completely different? Many thanks in advance for your help 🙂
Jere answers:
Suggestions: Try “googling” these names – and see what you get – some may be used already – and you can not duplicate — Also try seeing what is available as a “domain Name” – (like @ Go Daddy or other domain sites) – That may narrow your choices —
Also – don’t make the name so “obscure” that no one will readily know what you are offering —
like – what’s an “online engagement services”? Sounds like a match-making site — or a bridal consultant –
“Boost” is a brand name – etc. – you just have to be careful of things like that —
Using your name makes it less likely to be “copyrighted” already – Like –
“Business Online by Liz” —
Good luck –

How to find a person/firm in UK to promote my lucrative ONLINE-LIVE-TUTORING business ?
I post this question for the 3rd time now.So far NO one gave me satisfactory answers.I am not offering any jobs here. Dear people, I am based in Srilanka. I have an idea of launching an ONLINE-LIVE-TUTORING service for UK residing students. But, I have NO real contacts in UK to promote this business. Online tutoring delivered from South-Asia(ie,from India & Srilanka) is growing at a rapid rate of 400% per year.Bcoz, south-Asian tutors can deliver the same quality education available in the UK/US via internet for around 1/3rd of the tuition fees in the UK/US. This is a win-win situation. But, we are not a large corporate business to open offices in the UK. Thus I need a firm/person who can promote our services in the UK,and in return, they can earn a lucrative profit. We never charge any franchise fees, upfront fees etc. But, the UK Representer should work well in order to find students by doing some simple activities such as placing news-paper ads, issuing hand bills to libraries etc. There are more than 150000 students in our target group of audience, and if the Rep can find at least 75 of them, they can easily earn approx.GBP 5500/Month. BUT… MY BIG QUESTION IS…HOW CAN I FIND A RESPONSIBLE PERSON ? I can NOT place ads even in sites like Craigs,Gumtree etc., Bcoz, they don’t accept ads from Srilanka,as srilanka is NOT listed on them. Any help much appreciated. my mail ID is: nicetutoring(AT)yahoo(DOT)com
Jere answers:
I’ll do it for you!
Or you should place a simple advert for someone with the job centre here – www.jobcentreplus.gov.uk
They will find you a worker who will do it.

For a service based travel business, must I collect sales tax on the value of the product or just service?
I’m developing a business plan where my online service will facilitate the group purchase of a product and charge a service fee to each customer. The product will be distributed primarily in NY, NH, VT and ME while my business location is outside of the United States. My question involves sales tax. Is my assumption correct that I would only collect/pay sales tax on the service fee and not the full value of the product? Sales tax would be paid on the product to the primary vendor at the time of purchase. For example, the product cost including sales tax is $90 and the service fee is $10. The customer would pay $100 and my business would be responsible for paying state sales tax on $10 only. Is this correct? Aside from personal income taxes, the business will be a sole proprietorship, are there any other taxes that I should be concerned with? Thanks.
Jere answers:
You will need to check the regulations of each state you want to sell in. In most states, services are NOT taxable, only tangible goods are. If you are not actually selling the goods yourself, you should not have to collect/pay sales tax. Each state probably has a website and a section on doing business with that state, so that would be a good place to start.
You might also want to contact a CPA or accountant in one of those states to find out more specific information. It may be different f you are not a US citizen.
If you are already running an Internet marketingcampaign or are about to embark on an Internet marketingcampaign, one concept you cannot afford to skimp on is search engine optimization (SEO). SEO is one of the most popular buzz words in Internet marketing but unfortunately most Internet marketers simply do not know enough about SEO to make this strategy work for them. Even those who are knowledgeable about SEO may have difficulty executing their SEO strategies to produce the desired affect.
Advertising is a very important part of running any type of business. You need to advertise to reach new customers and market your products or services. Whether you run your businessonline or not you probably already realize how important it is to advertise but if you are running your businessonline you should understand there is a great deal of free advertising available in the form of optimal search engine rankings.
Well known search engines such as Google rank websites according to complex algorithms which are designed to determine which websites are most relevant for particular search terms. Therefore taking the time and effort to optimize your website for relevant search terms may result in you being rewarded with high search engine rankings for these terms. This is important because most Internet users rely heavily on these rankings. It is not uncommon for Internet users to only review the first few results when they search for a particular term. This means if your website ranks high enough to appear on the first page of the search results you will likely enjoy increased websitetraffic. However, if your website doesnt make it to the first page or even the second page, it is unlikely you will receive a great deal of websitetraffic from visitors who use search engines.
Now that you understand why search engine rankings are so important you might wonder how to achieve these rankings. The easiest way to optimize your website is to hire a SEO specialist to do the work for you. The world of SEO is complex and continually evolving making it difficult for most business owners who do not specialize in SEO to keep up with the changes in the industry. Therefore, business owners who attempt to optimize their website by themselves may have difficulty keeping up with competitors who hire a SEO consultant to optimize their website.
The algorithms used by search engines can be rather complex and include a number of different factors. Some of the common factors in the equation include keyword density, META tags, titles, inbound links, websitetraffic and content.
Keyword density refers to the number of times a particular keyword is used in the content of your website. The theory behind this concept is that website which use a keyword often are likely extremely relevant to that keyword, however, overuse of that keyword may result in penalties to the website if the search engine deemed the keywords are not being used appropriately.
META tags are pieces of HTML code which some search engines use in evaluating the content of a website. Placing keywords in these tags can be beneficial in some search engines. However, care should be taken to avoid placing irrelevant keywords in these tags as this may result in your website being penalized.
Inbound links are also used by some search engines to rank websites. Inbound links refer to links on other websites which point to your website. In evaluating the worth of these inbound links, some search engines consider the rank of the website providing the link to your website. This means you should ensure the website providing inbound links to your website are high ranking websites to receive the most benefit from these links.
Finally, the content on your website can do a great deal to bolster your search engine rankings. Most SEO firms retain a staff of writers who are skilled at providing quality content which is also optimized for relevant keywords. If you hire a SEO firm who does not providing copywriting services you should invest in hiring a professional writer yourself. This will help to ensure the copy on your website is not only valuable to your visitors but also considered valuable to search engines.

Building opt in list and affiliate marketing – effective internet marketing plan
Building opt in list and affiliate marketing have become synonymous to online success as an effective internet marketing strategy. For many online sites, building opt in list and affiliate marketing have proven quite profitable. Primarily because most online users are not exposed to any unscrupulous internet marketing strategies prevalent on the World Wide Web.
As an effective Internet marketing strategy, users are given the option to signup for information or service provided by a particular site. Building opt in list and affiliate marketing reduces the risk of spamming since the recipient voluntarily chooses to receive emails from a website. Plus, building opt in list and affiliate marketing provides a direct link to the subscriber that will help shape a formidable customer relationship that will keep on going.
The basics of building opt in list and affiliate marketing
Different websites have different ways of building opt in list and affiliate marketing. However there are some tried and tested formulas to help new affiliate marketers develop their own opt in listing for their site. The first and most important factor to determine in building opt in list and affiliate marketing is to establish the site’s target market.
Once the target market is established, building opt in list and affiliate marketing can be customized to meet their demands. This can be done using a variety of methods to convince site visitors to sign up for the site’s newsletter or e-zine. After signing up, the customer will begin to receive a variety of newsletters, e-zines and brochures that the customer had registered for.
Strategies for building opt in list and affiliate marketing
There are a number of strategies that affiliate marketers can use for building opt in list and affiliate marketing. One way of building opt in list and affiliate marketing is by purchasing or leasing a subscribers list from third-parties. This is usually done by affiliate marketers in order to get easy access to many people who have consented to receiving e-mails, newsletters and e-zines on various topics.
Although it is the fastest approach to building opt in list and affiliate marketing, this method does not provide a focused consumer group for building opt in list and affiliate marketing. In addition, it may cost an affiliate marketer more than what they expect to receive in sales. Fortunately, there are other ways for affiliate marketers to get the most out of building opt in list and affiliate marketing.
Enlisting for co-registration services is great for building opt in list and affiliate marketing. This service usually costs about 10 cents to 30 cents per subscriber but it easily translates into an average of three hundred subscribers daily to an affiliate marketer’s opt in list.
Writing articles is also an effective strategy for building opt in list and affiliate marketing. The articles can be published in various newsletters with specific links to the affiliate marketer’s site. This serves as a great introduction to potential subscribers that would encourage them to sign up for an opt in list.
Joint ventures are also a valuable strategy in building opt in list and affiliate marketing. Joint ventures are a hundred percent free and at the same time can add up to hundreds of subscribers to an opt in list daily.
Incentives for building opt in list and affiliate marketing
Building opt in list and affiliate marketing can also be encouraged by offering incentives to potential subscribers. This subtle form of encouragement for building opt in list and affiliate marketing often helps stir the interest of potential subscribers to sign up for the opt in list. There are a number of methods used in affiliate marketing to egg on potential subscribers to sign up.
Offering products and services in exchange for signing up is commonly practiced by many affiliate websites. Products may include special e-books or software that would be of interest to the subscriber. Another way to get subscribers to sign up is to offer them special services that are only available for site members.
Regardless of the incentive used for building opt in list and affiliate marketing, the most important factor to consider is how to keep the interest of the subscriber. Remember, it is just as easy for a subscriber to opt out of the list as it was to opt in to the list.
You can get opt-in services at aweber or getresponse, they will do everything for you and no spam complaints!

Email Marketing?
For my company I will be using a number of marketing tools ranging from email to mailing. For the emails I will need to create an email but how do i send mass emails out, if I want to do it myself. Where can I get email addresses of many people like ranging from 20000 and more.

I think you should not only get a list of random individuals from a hotel chain, but try to target various magazines that deal with phone systems, for example, and therefore you are advertising to a market that is ready for your service. You just need to be ready for their business. Good Luck ArmenH

How to start an email marketing business?
I am planning to do emailmarketing as a service to our existing clients. We service mortgage and real estate agents and we do mailings to consumers on behalf of LO and agents. What I would like to do is to hide our domain name and show consumer as the email came from their sales agent/Loan Officer. Anyone has any idea how to do this by setting up our own server. I am not planning to use 3rd party emailmarketing services. Consultant work is appreciated if you provide your contact information.
Jere answers:
Set your server domain as your company name, then use subdomains for your clients eg:
You can set your ‘from’ line to whatever you wish to support this so it will appear to the reader:
From: Loans Express (loansexpress.mycompany.com)
This is the most flexible way, otherwise you will need a server per client.

What are the best email marketing websites to build email list?
Looking to build an opt in email list for my business and I’ve been looking at different sites offering to build an email list. Which is the best between Aweber,GetResponse or Mailchimp or any other emailmarketing company? Looking to expand my business and I need advice on which company to go with!
Jere answers:
You can build email lists for free, if you like contact me and ill coach you on how to do this properly but roughly what you should be doing is going on sites like facebook and seeing the problems people are having and offer them a free way out of that problem by providing a program in exchange for their email address
One that ive used is an auto friend and gift acceptor script that saves people a lot of time
Another is the zynga poker bot, this plays poker for people and wins them chips while they sleep and is very popular
Use a youtube video with a link in the description to your opt in list
Once someone has signed up send them the program or link to the program
You can rake in literally thousands of active emails this way legally
Don’t pay someone to do it for you its too easy to do
I recently help a friend with his facebook and tweeter as well posting some slide shows, this is not my realbiz, but he like what I did and hes want me to be part of his marketing and web for his clothing line, getting a % on each item sold online and referrals, the questions is righr now is just beagn son % is not there but, I quoted for the work done to be $300/month till sales start, how much do I need to carge it cause, actually my wife is doing the work and it take several hours/week
Jere answers:
I consider $40/hrs with no benefits reasonable, but you need to adjust for area cost of living and the fact you getting a % of sales in addition to salary. It also depends on how much your wife enjoys doing it and if it takes away from thing she wants to do.

What happened to real hip hop?
“Back in the days we all used to {“Listen!”}
Now sh!t is so wack, nobody {“Listen!”}
To that real hip-hop, yo {“Listen!”}” – Talib Kweli
I’m only in high school but I know my rap history. I hear my classmates singin to lil wayne or some other cheesy gangster. The lyrics are pathetic and meaningless. All the stuff out now is all uptight, what happened to just chillin and havin fun. Is it the media or something?
Only three rappers out now are any good: Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, and Eminem. But they were all “invented” by Dr.Dre.
If there is any good rap out there can you recommend some artists, someone like (If there is any): A Tribe Called Quest, Pete Rock and Cl Smooth, Black Sheep, EPMD, Run-DMC, or Biz Markie.
What happened?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!
Del tha Funkee Homosapien is the bomb. I forgot to mention him.

and i like digable planets but there more like jazz. i don’t know.

It was buried in the underground. MC’s such as One Be Lo, MF Doom, Apathy, Celph Titled, Vinnie Paz, Elzhi, Slug, Brother Ali, Brotha Lynch Hung, Del tha Funkee Homosapien, Kool Keith, Virtuoso, Percee P, Canibus, and those kind of peoples still keep it real.
I’m more of a fan of golden age hip-hop (the kind you mentioned, such as A Tribe Called Quest, Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth, Black Sheep, EPMD, Run-D.M.C., Biz Markie) then underground (MF Doom, El-P, R.A. The Rugged Man), so I can recommend you alot of golden age hip-hop if you want.

Celebrities change their signatures alllllll the time. Especially because she would probably be signing these one after the other after the other so her writing would get messy and change around a lot! No need to analyse, so exciting to get autographed mail! Be thankful 🙂
marketing is a vast field wherein we have directmarketing, indirect marketing (etc).i wish to gain some knowledge on directmarketing.
Jere answers:
Direct marketing means personalized not broadcast. Examples could be mail, flyers, email, etc. They are intended to communicate one on one.
Direct marketing works best when you know your target audience is, then have a great list with that target on it, then a great offer. Creative is important – but if you don’t have the first 3, you are throwing money away.
George asks…
Direct Marketing?
Do u think a company can push its sales more by directmarketing method. Do you think it is more effective way of marketing over other methods.
Jere answers:
Different types of marketing are appropriate at different stages of the buying process. A company should design their marketing mix accordingly. There are situations where direct marketing isn’t appropriate or effective but many companies rely on direct marketing to generate qualified sales leads. In many cases, a company can generate $20-$50 in directly measurable sales for every $1 spent on direct marketing. With that kind of ROI, direct marketing is an integral part of many marketing plans.
Paul asks…
What are some great sites to sell direct marketing consumer lists to businesses quickly?
I have some directmarketing lists that I want to sell. They are generalized, regional specific lists (mostly customers based in Florida) and I want to try to sell them to people looking to expand their businesses, either those located in Florida or trying to build a base in Florida.
I am selling them cheaper than the going rate because I am just getting started. And while I know a lot of people sell to bigger directmarketing companies, I don’t really want to go that route right now.
Any suggestions? High traffic/high response sites preferred.
Jere answers:
Try Craigslist

What are some good books/resources to learn direct response marketing?
I am a 3rd year business student and have realized that I need to learn more about marketing than just the average college degree will give me. How can I learn directmarketing without having to take slow, menial college courses on it?

Michael asks…
How do I sell my business?
I have an onlinebusiness that does between $210,000 – 280,000 per year.
We spend less than $10,000 per year to advertise to get our business and make about 30-35% on the above mentioned figures.
(we recommend that the new owners spend more in advertising to get even better profits!!!)
The great thing about the business is that all the product is brokered out and that it operates almost totally automatic. This business also can be ran from anywhere. We have almost no liabilities.
Does anyone know the proper way to valuate this business?
I want $250,000 – $300,000 for the business
Thanks in advance
FYI – this is a real functioning business – not a pyramid or Amway type of business – we sell product to other businesses.
Jere answers:
The best way to sell would be to contact a buisness broker, that way you can pretty much get what you are asking for.

Lizzie asks…
Amway biz stressing me out and causing me a nervous wreck; can’t quit cause I’ll let everyone down. Help!?
I’m recent college grad, and about two months ago, I took on a business opportunity with Amway Global, which is a system that teaches people howto change their buying habits, that is buying products online and get revenue sharing. The objective of the business is to refer people and get them to sign up under you as an independent business owner (IBO). Once you become an IBO you get your own website and when you buy off this website you get paid a small percentage (not much money to begin with), known as revenue sharing. The more IBO’s you sign up, the more money you earn, since it’s a duplicatable process. It’s no scam, it’s a legit, a get rich slow project rather than get rich quick. In order to get people, you have to make a phone list of everyone you know like family members, friends, and do some major networking, which doesn’t come all that naturally to me. So it works by calling people you know who may be looking to make some extra income, and if they’re interested then you have to meet up with them in 48 hours todo a quality invite (QI), and this system has the whole QI philosophy. Then if they like the plan, you have to bring them to an open meeting which is at 8:00pm in a hotel on a week night which can last for 3 hours, and then do a follow up with this interested person, and then bingo, you have a sponsor, and IBO or “leg”, aka, sponsor, under you. Within my first month or so, I’m lucky to get my first sponsor who will sign up later on this week. This business is stressful to me because you have to invest money and just about everyone else I know to ask says they’re not sure about the opportunity and they tighten their money. You not only have to get IBO’s but you also have to get people you know well as customers to buy your products. I have three customers signed up under me who cannot afford to buy my products because of the economy, more and more people seem to be losing their jobs or getting their work hours cut back. I worry alot about getting customers and new IBOs while trying to find a better paying job while our country relives the Great Depression. I need to save for student loans. With the job I have now, there’s no way I can afford to keep investing more into Amway. My mom sees that this gig is high stress pressure on me and wants me to quit, but I can’t quit because I’ll let my business mentors down and set a bad example for my new IBO sponsor. I don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings here or give false hope. My passion is to run my own graphic design company rather than have to sell products. Sure, with Amway you can get rich selling products and the business plan, but what about with me getting rich selling my talents? My friend and I are starting our own design company, freelancing, building a website, and it’s like my mentors from Amway are taking me away from my passion, pressuring me to “succeed” in Amway, BUT I CAN’T LET ANYONE DOWN HERE. I don’t know what todo. My mentor is very gruff and high strung, so what would be the best way to approach him without pissing him off?
I apologize for this post being very long! I have a lot on my mind.
Hey, Gorbs, I clicked on your link and checked it, and it’s a scam, sorry to say. Having to end up paying a fee at the end was a huge red flag. For future reference to anyone, please don’t direct to something that’s a scam, I’m not an idiot. Thanks.
Oh yeah, when you tell me about this opportunity saying “YOU DO NOT OWE THOSE PEOPLE ANYTHING”, well there was a hidden fee, I’d rather not be cheated like that. I don’t mean to point fingers at anyone here, sorry.
Jere answers:
As an Amway business owner and the owner of a number of other businesses, that it is unlikely that you’ll succeed at it if you’re over-stressed. What’s more, due to it’s very nature, if you don’t succeed at it, then your “mentor” gets no benefit either.
The key thing to remember is that it is your business, not your uplines or downlines or anyone else. If you feel you need a break, then take a break! The great thing about Amway is that it’s not going away. You can maintain your membership, buy whatever products you want, or not, for as long as you want. I’ve just taken an 8 yr break with my Amway business due to stress from another business!
Now, if the problem is primarily financial stress, perhaps from buying BSM (business support materials such as books/Cds/seminars) then sit down with your upline, be 100% honest and tell him what you’re saying here – you simply can’t afford it right now. Apart from seminar tickets obviously, there’s no reason he can’t lend you materials free of charge. If he won’t, then keep going upline until you find someone who is sympathetic to your situation and will help you.
Personally I found Amway-related training materials great input for me while I was building other businesses, you may find the same. Remember though, it’s your life and your business, you make the decisions. Sometimes that requires hurting others.
So, in summary, Amway’s not something you have to either quit or give 110% to, there’s other possibilities. Talk honestly to your mentor – if you don’t feel you can, then he’s not the right mentor for you. Try speaking to someone upline until you find someone you connect with. If you’d like more advice, feel free to come chat on http://www.amwaytalk.com
Ken asks…
How do you make money through Amway?
OK so I went to this business meeting yesterday about Amway and they told me that it’s not an illegal pyramid scheme and that I’d be able to make passive recurring income (basically money without labour). I’d have to recruit people into my “team”, and the more people i have under me the more I’ll earn. So they said they wouldn’t pester me with their product advertising etc. So howdo these guys (at the top), and me actually make money? (i joined yesterday through trusting a friend)
I’ve read about them in online forums, which basically say you’ll earn nothing if you sell nothing. So would I have to buy these products and sell them myself? If my parents have a grocery store can i leave it for them to sell these Amway drinks?
Thanks in advance
I hope this is not a scam, and I’m relying on the 90 day money-back guarantee to save my a**s if no income comes through in the next 89 days.
And howdo you sell these things? Sure you have to be a good talker, and seller with many friends or family members? They didn’t mention any of this during the meeting, which i find odd and suspicious… So basically, it isn’t really recurring income if you have to devote so much of your time to making sales and thus earning percentages to get to the next level etc.?
Jere answers:
To qualify for the “passive income”, you’ll likely have to spend many years of working full-time. In my time the promised passive income was in the range of 400-500$ (and a next stage of over 1000$), and I can’t remember anyone who made it that far.
You do need to have a lot of family connections, or many friends. It won’t work very well on strangers. Not that it’s going to work very well on your family, they will usually only do it to support you, which is what Amway is counting on. Still, don’t expect that a lot of people will agree to sign up or buy things. Most will simply start avoiding you at some point.
To make money, you need to both sell products and recruit people, and the people you sign up have to succeed as well. By design, you need to recruit new people on a regular basis to qualify for anything worthwhile. Also keep in mind that by signing up your friends and family, you’re actually causing them to lose time and money, since a lot of people never manage to earn anything from it.
Guys at the top don’t exactly make money like you do. They were in it from the beginning, so everyone else including you is making money for them. They also don’t just sell products or sign up people. A large chunk of their income comes from books and motivational speeches, which you are often encouraged to buy (your superiors might tell you that you need them if you want to succeed). They also usually have other investments, so Amway is only a part of their income, and not a fundamental one.
Your friend means well, but you should do some calculations and make an estimate on how much you’ll actually have to invest, how much time you’re likely to spend, and how many people would actually be interested. In other words – market research. This is business, there’s no room for trusting friends.

Determining whether or not your Internet marketingcampaign is working for you is a very important part of the advertising process. This is so important because while there is a great deal of Internet marketing which can be done without a great deal of expense, other types of Internet marketing do have financial costs associated with them. Also, in both cases there is a time and energy burden to orchestrating the Internet marketing. For all of these reasons it is important for business owners to continuously evaluate their marketing techniques and strategies to determine what is working and what is not. This will help the business owner to focus his efforts on marketingstrategies which are providing positive results as opposed to those which are either not providing results or are only providing lackluster results. This article will examine a few different marketingstrategies as well as how business owners can evaluate the effectiveness of these strategies.
Affiliate marketing is certainly one of the most cost effective Internet marketingstrategies available. This marketingstrategy involves having other website owners known as affiliates post an advertisement on their websites to direct Internet traffic to your website. This marketingstrategy is cost effective because in most cases the affiliate is only paid when he produces a desired result such as enticing an Internet user to click through the advertisement or to purchase a product or service once they click through the ad. While the business owner is only paying for the advertisement when it produces a desired effect, it is still worthwhile to evaluate the effectiveness of these ads to determine whether or not they are working well.
Fortunately affiliatemarketingads have a natural feedback mechanism which makes it easy to evaluate how well the ad is working. This feedback is provided in the form of code imbedded in the advertisement which specifies which affiliategenerated the websitevisitors. This information is provided for the purposes of issuing payment to the affiliate but it can also provide the business owner with useful information on which affiliateads are the most effective. This information is especially useful when the affiliates are posting different ads. The business owner may conclude the ads posted by the more successful affiliates are more appealing to potential customers and may opt to use this style of ad for all of their affiliates.
Business owners who use Internet marketingstrategies such as posting on message boards to promote their business might want to consider asking customers to complete a short survey when making a purchase. This survey can include useful demographic information which is always helpful for marketing as well as information regarding where the customer learned of the products or services you offer. Including the message board web address as one of the responses will give you a good indication of whether or not the message boards are helping to drive customers to your website. You may also have some unofficial feedback in terms of the response to your postings on the message board. If the general consensus is in support of your posts, you may infer you are generating some interest in your business or website through this tactic.
Finally, an Internet marketingstrategy can be evaluated by studying websitetraffic results as well as sales receipts. Anytime you implement a new Internet marketingstrategy or technique it is worthwhile to study your websitetraffic reports and sales receipts carefully to determine whether or not there is a spike in either traffic or sales immediately after the marketing effort. For example, if you send out an e-newsletter to those who have requested additional information about your products or services, you may notice there is an increase in traffic or sales soon afterwards. This is a good indication the e-newsletter was well received and effective. However, if there is not a marked increase in traffic or sales subsequent to the e-newsletter it indicates the marketing effort was not effective.
Who can comment on “Yahoo Merchant Solutions” as a choice to help set up an on-line internet business?
I am researching the best business start-up helper for my idea and want to see if anyone has had experience with “Yahoo Merchant Solutions“. If so what is your opinion of it? Did it help you succesfully start your internetbusiness or was it not what you expected? Can you recommend some other internetbusiness start-up package? What about monthly costs and start up costs? Also what about on-going consultive help from them or follow up and up-date help? Thank You
Jere answers:
Yahoo Merchant Solutions is the more expensive of two hosted solutions I recommend to my clients. It has everything you need to start an online business, and there’s more flexibility with how you configure the online store – the online store tool is more sophisticated than the solution below (Office Live).
Yahoo Merchant Solutions: http://bit.ly/18XIYi
The other solution I recommend is Microsoft Office Live Small Business. Office Live is a free service that has an easy to use online web designer tool with templates which allows you to create a website without the need to know how to do HTML/CSS coding. It comes with 500 MB of storage and was designed for small business such as yourself. It is an all-in-one internet toolkit to help give your small business an online presence.
Since it is from a big brand (Microsoft), you can be sure that the right privacy and security policies are in place (unlike many other places on the internet where breach of privacy is quite prevalent). Microsoft is currently offering a free domain name (i.e. Yourdomain.com) for the first year. Of course, if you prefer, you can always use the free provided subdomain name.
To accept payment on your Office Live website, you can either use Paypal (free), which is great because you can accept credit cards, or you can try the Store Manager module (paid add-on) for Office Live. Try it out:

What is the phenomenal growth of business on the internet.and the use of latest e-business solutions for?
education services,marketing ,media and entertainment
Jere answers:
Well there are about a million “phenomenal growth” opportunities on the web.
Lots of high tech companies, like voice-over-ip reselling.
Selling products is clearly a huge growth area (amazon, buy etc).
Lastly affiliate opportunities are surprisingly profitable and easy to do.
For example check out bigcrumbs:
http://home.bigcrumbs.com/syncpedia
Basically as long as you shop ebay, amazon, buy.com etc from your bigcrumbs account, you get cash back from every purchase.
I buy allot on ebay and get an average of .30 – $1 cash back every time. Not much by itself but it adds up fast.
You can also refer other people and then will get cash back on all of their purchases too!.
Anyways, point being on the above i’ve had good returns on it, and it’s just an affiliate system that anyone can access.

Do i have to have a registered business to buy from PC World Business online store?
They have some cheap pc monitors. can anyone order from their site?
Jere answers:
You need to have a business account with them. Pop into the business centre at your local store and register your business name and address with them. You then quote this number when you buy through the business centre or, presumably, on-line.

How do real world businesses rate online college degrees?
I am in the construction field and I am considering getting an online degree in construction management to further my career but I do not want to spend the money or time if companies are not going to value it in close proximity with a conventional college degree. Is there a website that can help me determine how the different online colleges are rated in real worldbusiness?
Jere answers:
If you are in construction management, other than engineering, what you know is more important than how you got to know it. If you are taking the classes to beef up your resume, you may be better off going to an established college of university.

The money is "in the list" for both the online and offline business.
Internet marketing is a very wide term which can be used to encompass a variety of marketing techniques which are used online. Banner advertisements, website promotion, search engine optimization, email marketing and affiliatemarketing all fall under the umbrella of the term Internet marketing but there is even more to Internet marketing than those concepts. Promoting your website or business on message boards can also be considered to be Internet marketing. In fact this is one of the simplest and least expensive Internet marketing options available. This article will examine how savvy business owners can use Internet message boards wisely. It will also explain how message boards can be misused and rendered ineffective as well.
Message boards are essentially online meeting places. In general most message boards are focused on a particular niche subject and encourage those who share an interest in this particular subject to get together to discuss relevant issues, ask questions, provide advice and even just socialize. Message boards can focus on any subject imaginable they may focus on a particular baseball team or just the sport of baseball in general. Message boards can focus on subjects such as politics, television shows, bands, current events, jobs, hobbies or any subject imaginable. Savvy Internet marketers can take advantage of these message boards to reach a target audience without investing a great deal of money.
Consider a business in which the focus of the business is to assist people in finding jobs which offer telecommute options. The concept of working from home is becoming increasingly popular and there are many websites which focus on this subject. Likewise there are also many message boards devoted to the topic of working from home. Here those with an interest in the subject meet to discuss issues such as finding employment where working from home is an option, working around the schedule of your children, setting up a home office, dealing with friends or family members who dont respect your working hours and paying taxes on freelance assignments. A business owner who actively participates in this message board can take the opportunity to post a link to his website when it is relevant and offers something of value to the conversation. This is worthwhile because the message board features a high concentration of your target audience members.
When using message boards to promote your business, it is important to ensure you are following the rules associated with the message boards. Message boards may have restrictions regarding the posting of links and failure to abide by these restrictions may result in you being banned from the message board. For this reason it is important for anyone who is interested in using message boards for promotion of their business to carefully read the user agreement to ensure they are not violating any of the rules. It is also important to simply use common sense when promoting your business on a message board. Just because the rules do not restrict posting links, does not mean you should spam the board with your link. Take care to only include y our link when it is relevant. This will prevent message board users from assuming your link is just worthless spam.
Finally, when using message boards to promote your business it is important to be courteous to other message board users and to keep all posts professional. This is important because you and your business are much more likely to be taken seriously if you act professionally and responsibly. You should maintain this degree of professionalism even in posts which do not include your business link. This is important because other message board participants will remember you by your user name and will not be likely to take you seriously if you have previously made posts which were offensive, mean spirited or inaccurate. For this reason it is important to act as a representative from your company at all times.
Search engine optimization (SEO) should be considered a critical element of any Internet marketingstrategy. This is important because there is so much which can be gained from SEO in terms of Internet marketing and advertising. Failure to optimize your website for search engines can result in a considerable loss in terms of free advertising which is essentially gained from ranking well with search engines. This article will provide insight into what SEO is and will explain why Internet marketing requires at least some degree of SEO.
SEO optimization is a strategy in which a website is designed to obtain favorable search engine rankings from popular search engines. This may be achieved in a variety of different ways and optimal SEO strategies combine a variety of different strategies to complete one well orchestrated SEO campaign. There are several elements to consider when attempting to optimize your website for search engines. This may include keyword density, prominence, META tags, titles and inbound links. Keyword density is one of the most common SEO strategies and essentially involves using relevant keywords often in the content of a website to demonstrate the relevance of these keywords to the website. This is important because search engines are likely to reward websites with optimal keyword densities with favorable search engine rankings in an effort to provide Internet users with the most relevant websites for particular search terms.
The prominence of keywords should also be considered. This includes how close the keywords are placed to the beginning of the website. The common mistake with this strategy is to believe the first opportunity to incorporate keywords is in the first line of visible text on the webpage. This is not true because search engines crawl the code of a website as opposed to the visible content on the website. This means there are multiple opportunities to incorporate relevant keywords long before the actual visible content on the website. This might include the code for the title as well as the META tags. Business owners who realize the potential for incorporating keyword into the code gain an advantage over competitors who only incorporate keywords into the content on their website.
Another area of concern which is very important for those who are interested in SEO is inbound links. Inbound links are essentially links which reside on other websites and direct traffic to your website. These links are considered important because many search engines place a value on inbound links because they are essentially an example of one website recommending another website. However, when obtaining inbound links it is important to do so from other websites which rank well with search engines because many search engines consider the rank of the original website when determining the value of the inbound link.
Now that we have briefly explained some of the main concept of SEO, we will illustrate why it is important to optimize your website in the first place. SEO is so important because most Internet users highly value the results of search engines and are likely to only visit to ranking websites when they search for a particular keyword. Internet users trust search engines to serve the most relevant content first and are therefore not likely to visit websites which do not fall on the first or second page of search results. This means websites which rank well essentially are receiving a great deal of free advertising from search engines that place their website in a key position. Website owners who do not invest time into optimizing their websites miss out on a great deal of potential web traffic.
Sounds like, if it is in the budget, outsource the technical aspects for email marketing so you can focus on the message and strategy your building with email marketing.
Having a professional do the actual delivery of email marketing while you spend your time composing or outsourcing the email content. However, you should maintain the overall strategy for your email campaign.

Starting an Internet marketingcampaign is only the first step in the battle. Sure it is a good idea to start an Internet marketingcampaign if members of your target audience are likely to use the Internet to research or purchase the products you sell or the services you offer but these marketing efforts may turn out to be a complete waste of time if you are not diligent about evaluating the response to your Internet marketing. This means each time you implement a change to your marketingstrategy; you should evaluate the results of the change to determine whether or not it generated a greater profit for you. This is important because it can help you determine what is working and what is not working for you.
Evaluating the response of your Internet marketing can be done in a number of different ways. Customer surveys and embedded HTML code are two of the most popular methods of evaluating the effectiveness of an Internet marketingcampaign. Customer surveys can be as simple or as complex as you like depending on the amount of feedback you would like to receive. However, one of the most effective ways to find out how well your different marketing tactics are working is to include a question asking the consumer where they first learned about your products or services. This is important because if you find a great deal of your customers are learning about your products or services through a particular venue, it is a good indication this method of advertising is working quite well for you.
Embedding code into your advertisements for the purpose of receiving feedback is also a popular method of evaluating the response to your Internet marketingstrategies. Advertisements can be coded so the business owner receives feedback each time an Internet user clicks through a particular advertisement. This is useful for letting the business owner know which of his advertisements are attracting the most attention. If the business owner is using two different designs for his advertisements he may discover one design is attracting more attention than others and may make the decision to convert all of the advertisements to a more effective style. Similarly a business owner who is running the same advertisement on several different websites may discover he is receiving more traffic from one website than others. He may also discover some websites are not attracting much attention at all. This would give the business owner an indication of which advertisements to cancel and which ones to keep running.
Finally, the response to an Internet marketingcampaign can be evaluated by carefully reviewing websitetraffic statistics after implementing changes to the marketingstrategy. This information is useful because an unusual spike in the amount of websitetraffic immediately after implementing a stage of the marketingcampaign can provide positive feedback that the change was well received by potential customers. While this method of evaluating the response to an Internet marketingcampaign can be effective it is important to note implementing multiple changes at once will make it difficult to determine which changes were the most effective. Therefore if you plan to use websitetraffic as feedback for how well your marketingstrategy is working it is important to only implement one major change at a time so they can each be evaluated separately.

Business owners who want to take advantage of Internet marketingstrategies such as banner ads but are on a limited budget may find banner exchanges to be quite useful. The ideal use of banner ads would include placing your banner ad on a website which receives a great deal of traffic and attracts an audience who will likely be interested in your products or services. Additionally, this website should not directly compete for your business. This scenario may be difficult to find and even when a business owner is able to find this type of situation, purchasing advertisement space may be expensive especially if it is a highly competitive niche. These business owners may find banner exchanges to be an affordable alternative.
The most appealing factor of banner ad exchanges is the cost effectiveness of these situations. Most banner ad exchange groups are free to participants. Unlike placing a banner ad independently, there is no financial cost for the appearance of the banner ad on another website but the business owner does have an obligation to fulfill. Most banner ad exchanges will find another website to post your advertisement without charging a fee but they will require you to post at least one banner ad, and sometimes more, on your website in exchange for having your banner ad displayed on another website. Many banner ad exchanges will work to attempt to match your banner ad to a relevant website but this is not always possible and your banner ad may wind up on a website which is not relevant to your products or services. This will likely mean that the banner ads will generate very little interest in your products and services. Similarly the advertisements you are asked to post may not complement your website well. You will likely have the opportunity to reject advertisements in particular categories you find to be offensive but will have little control beyond that to moderate the banner ads on your website.
Another very affordable option for placing your banner ads on the Internet may include starting an affiliatemarketingcampaign. This is an Internet marketingcampaign in which website owners, or affiliates, post your banner ad on their website and attempt to promote your products and services for you. The banner ads typically include graphics and text which entice Internet users to click through the ad to your website and also include embedded code which provides you with feedback detailing which affiliates generated the websitetraffic. This information is necessary because affiliates are typically not paid unless they achieve a desired result such as enticing Internet users to click through the banner ad or make a purchase. The affiliates are typically compensated either on a cost per click basis or a cost per sale basis. Cost per click means the affiliate receives a predetermined amount of money each time a user clicks on the ad. Cost per sale means the affiliate receives either a flat fee or a percentage of the sale for each sale generated by the affiliate. Affiliates may also be paid on a cost per lead basis which means they are compensated when a user performs a specific action such as registering with a website or filling out a survey. Most people favor affiliateprograms because it is a cost effective way to place your banner adsonline and because they only have to pay affiliates who are successful.
Internet marketing for beginners is somewhat of an oxymoron. This is because while in theory the concepts behind Internet marketing might be quite simple, executing effective strategies can be extremely difficult. This can even be tough for those who are quite experienced in the world of Internet marketing. With this in mind, this article will attempt to explain the concept of Internet marketing for beginners and will outline some basic strategies which can help a business owner to launch his own Internet marketingcampaign. We will cover concepts such as creating a website, placing banner ads, sending out e-newsletters, orchestrating an email marketingcampaign and optimizing your website for search engines.
One of the most basic steps for starting an Internet marketingcampaign is to create a website. If you dont have a website or have a poorly designed website you should consider creating or re-designing a website to adequately market your products. If you do not have experience in web design, there are a number of software packages which make it simple for those with no design experience to create a functional website. However, hiring a web designer is worthwhile because he can work to create a website which is attractive, functional and suitable to your products and series. He can also help you include more advanced features on your website.
Banner ads are another popular option for advertising your business on the Internet. Banner ads are advertisements which typically appear along the top of a website but it may also include smaller ads in other locations. Banner ads typically include graphics and text which entice Internet users to click on the advertisement. Once a user clicks on the ad, they are directed to your website. This type of advertising can be very effective when care is taken to place the advertisements on high trafficwebsites which attract an audience who may have an interest in your products.
Sending out e-newsletters can also be a part of an effective Internet marketingstrategy. E-newsletters are essentially emails which may contain a variety of information including informative articles, useful quizzes, relevant advertising or any other information which is deemed worthwhile for the recipients of the e-newsletter. The importance of these newsletters is that they can be used as marketingtools which are not viewed by the recipients as an advertisement. One way to do this is to incorporate links or other soft sale approaches into the copy of the e-newsletters. However, care should be taken to keep these references minimal so the e-newsletter is not viewed as spam.
Email marketingcampaigns can be another successful aspect of an Internet marketingcampaign. Email marketing essentially involves sending out emails to a group of individuals who may be interested in your products and services. Care should be taken in sending out these emails to avoid sending emails which are unsolicited and will be viewed as spam. One way to do this is to only send out the emails to users who have requested inclusion on an email mailing list. Another way to do this is to provide value in the emails as opposed to just including advertisements. This can be done by offering relevant advice in your emails and other useful information which may be of interest to the recipients of the email.
Finally, optimizing your website for search engines is a critical aspect of an Internet marketingcampaign. Search engines rank websites according to quality and relevance for particular search terms. Many Internet users appreciate the effort by search engines and use these search engines to find the best websites on a particular subject. This means the Internet users are likely to only visit websites which rank well with search engines. Therefore if your website is not high ranking, you are not likely to generate a great deal of traffic from Internet users who use search engines to find relevant websites. Top ranking websites are likely to obtain the most traffic from search engines and all websites falling on the first page of the search engine results will likely enjoy some degree of success in improving their traffic.

I like this article because it keeps it simple. Three simple ways to make your emails alive and interesting or better yet, entertaining.
Internet marketing is not overly complicated but it is also not a process in which anyone can excel without making attempts to learn more about the subject. Business owners who do not know a great deal about Internet marketing but who wish to implement Internet marketing into their overall marketingstrategy should carefully study the basic principles of Internet marketing before launching their onlinemarketingcampaign. Fortunately for these business owners there are a variety of options for learning about Internet marketing. These options may include onlineresearch, reading published books and studying successful Internet marketingcampaigns.
Researching Internet marketingonline is one method which can be used for learning more about this topic. This type of research can be very informative and can provide the business owner with a great deal of advice and other information. However, it can also provide the business owner with a great deal of misinformation. When researching any subject online it is very important to note that not all of the information available online is accurate. This may be due to a variety of factors including content which is written by those who do not have a great deal of knowledge about the subject matter as well as content which was written years ago and is outdated. This can be frustrating but fortunately business owners can still learn from the Internet. This just means they should be more cautious about accepting information as being accurate and may wish to verify the information they obtain before implementing an Internet marketingstrategy.
Published books are another valuable resource for learning more about Internet marketing. There are a variety of books available which focus on this subject and provide a wealth of useful information. When selecting a book for use as research material it is important to seek out a book which received independent reviews which were positive. It is also important to seek out books which were published recently. This is important because the Internet marketing industry is evolving continuously and a book that was published only a few years ago may be outdated and may lack information on some of the new developments in the industry. The appeal of using published books to learn about Internet marketing is you can keep the books on hand for easy reference when you launch your Internet marketingcampaign.
Finally business owners can learn a great deal about Internet marketing simply by studying successful Internet marketingcampaigns. Try the Internet marketing blog at www.jeremyburns.com/blog for some great starter tipe. If your business offers products and services in a particular niche consider entering relevant terms in popular search engines and studying the websites of some of the highest ranking businesses. This can provide you with a great deal of insight into what these business owners are doing which may be contributing to their success. Examining everything from their website design to their search engine optimization strategies and even the content on their website can help you to determine why they are more successful than you. You should also consider how they are marketing their website which may include banner ads, affiliatemarketingprograms or other types of advertising. Armed with this information you can take the opportunity to implement changes to your own website and marketingstrategy which may help you to gain a greater degree of success. Care should be taken to not copy anything directly from your competitors but to rather try to emulate their degree of success in your own way.

Placing banner ads can be a highly effective way to market your business on the Internet. Banner ads are essentially advertisements which appear on a website, usually in the form of a combination of graphics and text, to encourage Internet users to click through these advertisements to your website. The most common form of banner ads is an advertisement which appears on the top of a website and spans the width of the webpage. These advertisements derived their name from the similarity to a banner but technically banner ads can come in a variety of shapes and sizes. This article will take a look at the effectiveness of banner as well as methods for placing these banner ads.
Banner ads can be highly effective if used properly. However, placing your banner ad all over the Internet with very little consideration to whether or not the location is likely to be beneficial to your business is not a good idea and can be a tremendous waste of money as well as other resources such as time and effort. Therefore business owners who are considering using banner ads to promote their business should spend some time to learn how to use banner ads effectively and to find ideal location for placing their banner ads.
The most ideal location for a banner ad is prominently displayed on a website which receives a great deal of websitetraffic and also complements your products and services well without providing direct competition for your products or services. As an example consider a business owner who specializes in selling athletic shoes specifically for runners. Buying banner ad space on a website which offers advice on training for running events and provides information on upcoming races would be an excellent idea. This website attracts visitors who have an interest in running and are likely to purchase athletic shoes but does not sell running shoes directly. This means the website attracts members of your target audience but does not compete for your business.
In addition to purchasing banner ad space, some business owners opt to join banner ad exchange groups. This is an alternative in which the business owner does not pay for their banner ad to be placed on another website but in exchange they agree to post one or more advertisements on their own website. This is a very affordable option for placing banner ads but it is not always the best strategy. This is because the business owner often has little input into where their banner ad appears and has limited input into the banner ads which appear on his website in return. In most cases, business owners have the ability to decline to host advertisements which they deem to be offensive but cannot specifically choose the banner ads they must post.
Finally, when posting banner ads, business owners should be aware of the effectiveness of the ads they place. They may choose to post different designs for their banner ad on different websites but they should monitor the results of their advertising to determine if one style is more effective than another. This information can be very important. If one style is enjoying a great deal of success while the other style is not, the business owner may wish to use the more successful style for all of their banner ads or to redesign the less successful style to make it more appealing to Internet users.
