Your Questions About Business Online Backup

Daniel asks…
What is an easy way to backup my website before I start editing it?
I had someone make my website for my business. They sort of went to a corporate job now and I’m left to try and figure out software to edit my site. Are there any easy ways to backup th website before I go and screw it up.

Jere answers:
Log into your Control Panel and schedule a site backup. Have it sent to you in an email or download it from the folder by FTP. The file will be in a compressed format. Once downloaded to your computer, make sure you in-compress it into its own folder.
I recommend get a good web editor and edit your site on your own computer. This will allow you to always have a current backup. Just upload any edited or new files by FTP to where they need to go. ALWAYS maintain a mirror image of the online directory structure on your computer to keep from breaking paths. Having your site mirrored on your computer will allow you to check each page as to it working correctly.
If you use PHP/ASP pages, then you need to install the app to allow you to run these on your computer.

Can i use dreamwaever to build by website to be put on Yahoo small business’s E commerce ?
I would like to make a website for my business, i need it to look good, so i am thinking about trying to get dreamweaver to put on my computer to design my website. Will i Be able to use this with yahoo small business e-commerce?

Jere answers:
I recommend hand-codong your pages and validate the CSS and HTML often before making the site. You can do all this locally on your computer where you can keep a backup of the complete site.
I would also find a better hosting than Yahoo.

How to prepare for a Debenhams interview?
I recently applied online for a Xmas temp position in Debenhams. Today I’ve been contacted by them, inviting me to a “recruitment event” tomorrow. Will this mean an interview and if so, what questions am I likely to be asked? This is my first job interview so I was also wondering if people had any tips on how to make a good impression. Thankyou for any help!

Jere answers:
Biggest things here are to appear prompt (on time), dependable (will show up) and mature (will get things done, get along with others). Should appear neat and composed, formal attire is probably not needed but long pants or skirt and long sleeve shirt. Think of business people and dress like they do, no cutoffs, no holes, no bare tummy….
They typically ask your prior exp, you don’t have any but you might have babysat or worked charity or school events, those count. They will ask things like are you responsible, mature, get along with others, show up….try to answer and backup with an example in real life
Don’t EVER lie….you need to be honest….most interviewers are good at detecting lying and will boot you immediately.
Overall, apear cheeful, friendly, mature and responsible, that’s what people want, especially if you have to deal with the public
good luck!

Jere answers:
The best remote backup is Citadel Remote Backup it kicks the butt out of anything else out there. Don’t believe me, you can see a review here: http://www.backupreview.info/2009/09/24/citadel-online-remote-backup-for-servers-laptops-and-desktops-launched-with-redundant-backup-to-datacenters-in-us-europe-and-india/# or go to their website www.citadelbackup.com
By the way some joker will say Craponite, Get rid of Craponite and all the other junk, its the worst addon ever made, originally a quest tracking addon like questhelper then the author started bundling tons of random crap with it that clogs up your UI with unnessacery clutter and giving you lower fps. Dont’ waste your time.
