Your Questions About Business Online Payroll

David asks…
How do I start my own website?
I want to start a business online and have a website that people can go to and look at! However, I just have no idea how to get started. I would like 2 hear from those who have one and know the ropes! Anything helps!

Jere answers:
I do not use my website for on-line sales but I know yahoo has the option to register your domain name, create a website and complete online transactions. You also get a template to choose from and it is pretty affordable. Also, intuit has several options available for small business owners including the ability ot accept credit cards, websites and lots of other stuff. If you google it and buy them seperatley you will get amazing deals.

Thomas asks…
Does anyone know of a good, cheap online timeclock or fingerprint timeclock employees can sign in with?
I have a small business with 2 employees. I just want something they can log on and off quickly (preferably with use of a fingerprint scanners which are only $40) and keep track of their timeclock and lunch hours etc. Please help.

Jere answers:
We have a product that might work for you, it uses a small finger print scanner and is web based. Roughly $15 a month for up to 5 users. You can schedule your employees, they punch in and out and you can approve the time sheet at the end of the week. It also is compatible with Quick books if wish to use that for payroll. If you are interested and wish a demo please contact us webclocker@diversecg.com.

Charles asks…
Is there a way to make sure I am paying enough in payroll deductions?
My wife and I have had several significant changes in our lives in the past year. For instance, we will not be receiving the mortgage intrest credit, the child care deduction as well as the deductions for business expenses.
Is there any way to know if we are paying in too little or even possibly too much.
Last year with all the deductions, we received a 2k refund filing married, joint with 2 children.
So far this year, I have filed Married, with 0 deducts, and she is filed married w 2 deducts. How can we know if we are paying enough in taxes to avaoid penalties as well as a hefty tax bill come next year?

Jere answers:
Use the IRS’ withholding calculator. That should tell you how much federal tax to have withheld from your remaining paychecks in the year. (http://www.irs.gov/individuals/article/0,,id=96196,00.html)
I don’t know what state you live in, but some states’ departments of revenue have a similar withholding calculator online.

What is the difference between payroll software and a payroll service?
What is the difference between payroll software and a payroll service?
Im a business studies student and wondered whether the only difference is that a payroll service is internet-based? Or is there more to it? Is this the case for all payroll services? Any advantages and disadvantages of each type of payroll managing method would be very helpful. Thank you.

William asks…
How do you distribute payroll when first starting a small business?
My business calls for me to have 3 to 4 employees working under me, not including hiring an accountant and an attorney. I have only gone as far as registering my business name, becoming a LLC and getting my EIN. I basically only have my business skeleton. I am in the works of getting a building to work out of, but I’m wanting to figure out how I’ll distribute pay. Any help?

Jere answers:
The easiest and most efficient way is to outsource your payroll. If you don’t complete your payroll correctly or on time, you’ll be penalized and these fines can be hefty.
Our company uses online-business-payroll.com. Your first month is free, so you’ll be able to see that it’s super easy to use. It only takes us a few minutes to do our payroll each time.
Once you have all four of your employees, you’re looking at spending $52.35/ mo (if you pay once a month). Anyway, it’s definitely a lot cheaper than if you were to try and learn how to do payroll yourself. It usually takes someone who knows what they are doing about 4 hours per payroll to do it if they were doing it themselves, so it’s totally worth the time you save.
Also, the company is paperless, so you can pay your employees with direct deposit (free) or print the checks at your office. Super easy.
Good luck!
