I need to create a loan agreement. Where can I find one and are they legally binding?

My friend has asked me to loan him a fairly large sum of money to help him start a business. Even though I trust him to pay it back, I think I need to cover myself just in case and help to make it clear what the expectations are.
What do I need to look for when creating a loan agreement? Should I write one myself or go through a lawyer? Can I even use an online service? I would appreciate some help!

If you are lending a large sum of money to a friend or even borrowing a large sum of money, I strongly recommend that you get a written loan agreement. As you have stated, it is very important to not only clarify what the expectations are, but also have something signed and in writing that can be enforced in case something goes wrong. What you should also consider is a loan agreement with security.
What happens if your friends business goes under and he has no way of repaying you back? Security means that he provides you rights over his assets in the event that he cannot pay you back.
In terms of how you write your loan agreement, you can either go through a lawyer, which can be expensive, or go through a legal document website. Someone here has already mentioned www.easylegalonline.com which ironically is the site that I used for my loan agreement. You can complete the document online just by filling in some forms and then you can view the results before purchasing. The final product is a downloadable word document which is professionally formatted and ready to sign. The site is run by Lawyers anyway, so in my opinion it is just as good as going to one and a lot cheaper.
Anyway, have a look around, there are plenty of sites that sell them but as I said, their document worked for me and I would use them again.

If you have a hosted site with your “whatever.com” as the address
you can go to Google & Yahoo and ask them to add your site to their search engines for free.
You can also join Adsense from Google and add a meta data tag line to the header of your home page.
When you join Adsense you can also elect to pay per click to advertise your site on the right hand pane of the Google search page you can elect to pay a 1cent per click or a 1 dollar per click, the more you pay the higher up the list it goes. You offset this cost by putting Adsense banners on your site, advertising similar services to yours.

I have a huge problem doing business with someone who I can’t see face to face or shake there hand. I hope all of my customers feel the same. The Mortgage world is upside down right now because people didn’t read the documents they signed. So why would you do something that dictates the financial outcome of your fututre with someone who you can’t speak to in person???

I am interested in the creation of applications, websites and what is involved in starting and maintaining large online services such as Instagram, SpringPad, Vimeo etc. and how these franchises began before they became successful.

Look you don’t need to know what skills are required you just need to learn them. The best place to learn programing is on “the new boston” youtube channel. He is entertaining as well as a good teacher. He will not waist your time and he teaches many languages such as java, basic, ruby, python, c++ and more. After that you should plane on getting a Business degree to help you put these skills to your own companies. It is much better to make your own Company then to work at one because you can get much more money then just getting a job at say microsoft.

In cases i know the internet has helped people to reach a wider audience, offer a wider range of services and reduce costs.
Eg. If you have a business you take advantage of advertising on the internet and even selling your products online.
You do not need to have a store front front in some cases. If you use ebay etc that would be your store front in effect.
