Your Questions About Direct Marketing Companies

Paul asks…

How much could I sell my databases for?

I research small businesses and compile databases on company info that I find. How can I find out how much people normally expect to pay for this type of information? I am aiming to supply telemarketers and web designers/developers and improvers/email marketing companies/Insurance companies.
Pretty new to this type of work. So any help with how much I could charge would be most useful, also how to sell them and where.
I was thinking I could perhaps sell them as hard copies on Ebay one fee for multiple rights (to more than one buyer) or sole rights to one buyer, under Ebays BUY NOW policy.

Compiling my databases by postal areas. eg. Cambridge, Birmingham.

I do not want to put you off its a good idea.
You have to be careful if they data contains personel information even such as a telephone number that is a direct line it may breech the 1998 (revised 2001) Data protection act if they have not given consent.

In this country general company information is ok although not in Italy.

It would depend on who you are selling it to, how many are on it,
how up to date it is, and how much detail is provided.

It could be anything from £400 – £2,000 or more. I think it is Data Monitor or Brad on line some the larger companies charge by use so they sell you a disc or a computor download and you are allowed to use the list a given amount of times and then you have to re negotiate terms for additional use.

If I were you I would look those two companies up on the internet and also go to http://www.opsi.gov.uk/acts/acts1998/19980029.htm

Mark asks…

where can i find someone to invest in my idea?

I already found a marketing company and they have found a company to produce and sell my idea but I have put all my money in it already. I need help with 700 dallors (the fee to go to the next step). I am willing to give 15 percent of my profit. Please help it will be worth it. If interested I will share more about my idea cus I don’t want it to get stole. Money can be sent straight to the marketing company.

Jere answers:

This is an unlikely site to find investors. Your plea for money does not sound professional or instill confidence.

I would think a marketing company that’s optimistic about your product / idea would be able to direct you to venture capitalists, or other potential investors. If $700 is all it takes, you might want to hit up your friends and family for small donations.

Be sure to check out the legitimacy of the company that you’ve found; you don’t want to be conned out of any money with empty promises!

Susan asks…

How do you find the number of corporate board members and other details for a company?

I need to find the number of corporate board members, name of those members, date founded, date public(IPO, date traded on stock market), other companies they own and the future outlook for the company for yahoo, mattel, thq, and disney.. where can i find these?

Jere answers:

Ive worked customer service for a long time now and i know that absolutly the best place to get the information is to call on their toll free line if they have one and ask all the questions that you have. They should either be able to get you the exact info, or direct you to a website that has the info. I also know that several corporations make their info available on their website in some sort of “investors” page that lists things you would want to know before buying their stock, or if you have already bought their stock.
