Your Questions About Direct Marketing Jobs

Robert asks…

what salary can I expect in entry-level marketing?

I just got a job offer in entry-level direct marketing, training to be a manager, full-time.

All I know so far is that salary is based on percentage of sales – but it can’t be just that right, there has to be a salary, too, right?

How much can I expect?

I have a B.A, 1 year internship experience, and speak English, French and Spanish fluently.
I didn’t mean salary is based on percentage of sales but the amount of money being made, I guess..

Jere answers:

There are jobs that pay commission only. You better get this straightened out before you accept the job. I can’t believe the amount of pay, be it salary or commission wasn’t discussed.

The above applies be it percentage of sales, or percentage of profit.

Whats the story on US Marketing Alliance? they offer markting exp. but heard its direct sales. any1 wrk 4 them

Whats the story on the co. US Marketing Alliance? They offer ‘marketingjobs but I heard its really direct sales. Anyone out there work for them or know someone who has? there’s 3 companies like this (these guys, the Landers Group and the Ad Group) out there that seem “cultish” in their scope – makes me think they hire with a ‘track” in mind, but its really a way to get hard work out of you in exchange for little pay. i’d really like to know. Thanks!

Charles asks…

I don’t want to make a huge mistake by taking a bad job, do you think its legit?

I’m a 20 year old business major who recently started looking for jobs on some career websites! I found there are lots of direct marketing jobs that offer things like paid training, and opportunities for advancement, but i need to know if they are legitimate businesses, I have checked out the website, but anyone can make a good website these days, no its not an MLM as far as I can see right now, and they are not asking for any money from me! but I want to know if it is truly a money making opportunity and a way to get a foot in the door of sales and marketing, so let me know your experiences!
so you know some of the companies I’ve interviewed with are new direction promotions, scanno advertising, o.c. marketing and tld and associates, let me know especially if you have worked with any of these they are located in cali, they all seem to do the same type of thing

Jere answers:

Direct Marketing translates into Direct Sales. You are either going to businesses on sales calls, or you are going door to door. If this is what you like doing you can make some decent money doing it.

Nancy asks…

What interview questions would you get in marketing?

i’ve got a interview on friday for a marketing company called Mantra marketing who “specialises in below-the-line direct marketing and counts a huge array of FTSE 100 clients among their most loyal clients” but i am really confused to what questions i could be asked etc and i really want the job but i know nothing
anyone help me please?

Jere answers:

What can you bring into the team to make it stronger. What experience you got with marketing and what knowledge you got on FTSE 100. Question i would presume.

Betty asks…

Under your leadership will our jobs come back to the United States and stop being outsourced?

When I call Direct TV it’s someone in Mexico. When I call Hewlett Packard it’s someone in India.
When I call Sharp it’s the Philippines. Our job market is suffering stateside and we need jobs back home!

You want to direct this question to the white house, not to Yahoo Answers. Go to www.whitehouse.gov/contact to submit your comments and questions to the president’s staff. That will ensure that someone in a position to make your concerns known to the president will read your question.
