Your Questions About Direct Marketing Solutions

Carol asks…

What is the best solution for sending messages to my email lists?

Is using Bcc a good option to sending out large amounts of emails to my mailing lists? I have tried using direct delivery, but that is not working. I have also tried the bulk email marketing servers, but I had too many spam complaints and they terminated my account. I’m not spamming, just responding to emails from my ads.

Jere answers:

I use BCC but found that my Yahoo account only allowed so many in a given 24 hour period. I would suggest, if you haven’t already, to get more than one account, or ante-up and get an email that allows for as many bulk emails as you need.

Good luck.

Nancy asks…

what is the best Drinking water solution available in the Indian market?

I would like to know what is the best solution for drinking water in India. 80% of people are consuming Direct tap/Borewell water without any filtration and it some times causes health issues.
This question is specific to a family of 8 people .all of them are indians!!
what is the best available option eg., Aquaguard,Kent RO,pure IT etc.,

Jere answers:

Are you just visiting or living there for a while, it makes a big difference. How many people? For one or 2 people, you can get a small water filtration device about the size of 2 of your fists, and for 3 or 4 people they have one the size of a persons arm. The smaller one around $900 to $1200, and the other is $1800 to $2200. These are not your normal water filtration systems you find in the hardware store. They are used in marine applications were if you get stranded at sea, you can filter sea water into pure drinking water. They are so powerful that you can pee in a cup and filter it into pure dirinking water.
Now if you are going to live there for a while, they have much larger systems that cost alot more, you have to ask yourself, how much is your health worth?, if you know what I mean.

Please help me re word my paragrapgh?

Panasonic has significant budgets designated for marketing and selling expenses. Allocating some of those dollars to creating and establishing the new Panasonic solution – “Panasonic Home Entertainment – Direct to Home” – as a desirable consumer option/brand, will tap a market that has not been available to Panasonic until now.

Jere answers:

Panasonic has recently allocated a big part of their advertising and marketing budget to its new “Panasonic Home Entertainment – Direct to Home” which is Panasonic’s new brand for home entertainment.
This brand is expected to help Panasonic penetrate a totally new market for them with great potentials.

What are your thoughts on the debate last night?

Me? I thought it was a draw. The big differences though between the two are that McCain is more direct, Obama is more suave.

I actually agree with Obama in the things that he says that are wrong with our country, just like I agree with McCain on the same things.

The big differences?
McCain believes more in free market solutions and not giving our enemies a higher ground to stand on.
Obama believes in large government solutions and socialistic ideologies as well as giving our enemies more credibility on the world stage. Didn’t Jimmy Carter try that with dismal failure?

Naturally I lean to McCain, being a conservative.
Obama has good points, but I don’t like his way of thinking in how to solve problems.

So that to me is the differences.
They both seem to realize the same issues we are facing, they just have dramatically different ways of how to solve them.

So that I believe is how the election will play out.

Larger government as well as leveling of the playing field with our enemies VS smaller government, free market solutions as well as NOT giving positive credibility to our enemies.

What are your thoughts?

Jere answers:

Scottdman, I watched the debate intently. I was getting upset with McCain for not hammering home where all of this economic crisis began. I felt that they were both way to easy on each other. I have not agreed with McCain on a lot of things during his career in the Senate. However, at this crucial time in our country’s history, I truly believe that the last thing we need is Obama’s rather naive view on how to handle our foreign enemies. I feel that McCain is much stronger when it comes to dealing with other countries and I believe that he is best suited for protecting our country from attack.
With that being said, though I will say that I feel that what we do need are fresh ideas for this country. Obama wins with that, but unfortunately his ideas are not acceptable. You are absolutely right when you say that Obama wants a bigger government because he seems to believe that the government is the solution to our problems and not the free market or our citizens. That is such a big difference, I can not bring myself to vote for Obama. Though I am also somewhat reluctant to vote for McCain as well, but I am going to. With the financial mess that the liberals have created going all the way back to the Clinton administration, that last thing we need is more liberals. Ok, now I digress.
I think that the biggest single difference between the two parties is how much government there should be, then there is thought on how the military should be and foriegn relations. When Obama kept saying about how he would get Bin Laden, I was yelling at the TV for McCain to say that Clinton had him in the cross hairs several times and refused to do anything. I wanted McCain to tell him that we attempted many time to get Osama but with the mountains and caves, it is not an easy task. Ugh, but it never came. Then I started counting how many times Obama said that he agreed with McCain. That count was 8 with one more iffy one. Eight times Obama agreed with McCain! That is not winning a debate or proving yourself all that different than the status quo now is it.
Though it is noble to feel that every American should own their own home, have cheap college, and cheap health care, in a free market it is absolutely impossible. We can not and should not provide everyone with everything. That is the biggest thing that scares me about Obama. I feel that McCain will make a good president because he will surround himself with intelligent people to feel the gaps where he is weak. Especially when it comes to the economy, he has already met with very successful heads of industry with Mitt Romney being one of them, on how best to fix this problem. Most of Obama’s advisors are crooks, so I have no faith in him with that. Either way, I really did feel that McCain won the debate because he got Obama to agree with so many times. That proved that he knew what he was talking about. Atleast that is my assessment. Good question!

Pushpak Guthedar is working as a sales engineer in your company. Balli Engineering Ltd., manufactures and markets Electric pumps and motors. Your company does both direct marketing to industries and sells through a dealer network spread all over the country.

You are a senior sales engineer with 10 years experience in this company. You are second senior most at Hyderabad branch after the Branch Manager. You are a star sales person and very important to this branch.

Pushpak is mild and timid. His father is a government servant in Karnataka and mother housewife. Pushpak has studied in Taluk and Dist. Head Quarters in Karnataka. Only for his degree he came to Hyderabad, where he is staying with an uncle. Pushpak is very good at written English, statistics, making reports, analyzing and market research. But his spoken English is not fluent and he suffers from total lack of self esteem and confidence. He speaks only when spoken to in office. In parties he is always in a corner. His sense of dressing is very poor. He is dark, small built. He sports long hair.

On the job front he seems to be doing well as far as dealing with dealers is concerned with whom one has to converse in Hindi or Telugu. But he has not been successful with direct industrial sales. He hesitates to meet decision makers and mostly avoids them. He only meets clerks in purchase departments and depends on them for everything.

You get a rumour from Head Quarter that in one year’s time you will be made the Branch Manager, since the present incumbent may be elevated. You want to work on Pushpak and make him like you so that your Branch can perform better.

Please give your plans and demonstrate one face-to-face session with Pushpak.

CASELET B: Designed for ECIL – Mentoring

You are a senior project manager in Infozee Software Co., a leading software solution provider with operations in USA, Europe, Australia and India.

Jathinder Koka is a software developer working in a different team. He has 1 ½ years experience.

He is arrogant. He thinks being a software engineer in a multi location reputed company is good enough to take him through the life. He thinks the world is at his feet, since he is working in the IT industry and there is a tremendous short supply of software engineers. He thinks he has already learnt enough and does not have to learn anything more specially soft skills like communication, team work etc. He generally talks to his peers about his determination to become a Project Manager in next 2 years. He says if this company does not make him a Project Manager some others will.

He has bragged several times about how he has rejected offers from US, quoting reasons such as “a small 2 bit company”, “don’t want to be on the east coast”, “either 60k or nothing”.

He does his work alright but there is a lot of scope for improvement in terms of speed, care etc. He is a bad influence on many other developers who secretly envy Jathinder. Jathinder has not made team work easy for anyone in the team. Jathinder is very sound in concepts. He can grasp new technologies/methods/process quickly.

You want to interact with him to help him realize his potential. Give your plan and one demonstration of interaction with Jathinder.

Jere answers:

I am taking up case a.
I may not produce face to face session but can suggest plan

1.Pushpak is good in written English , reports. You can appreciate him on this matter, followed by a positive note that you can do better. This will motivate him.
2. You may ask him to prepare presentations. As he is good in written English , reports, he will prepare. You may ask him do deliver presentation in English. He will be able to make a presentation as he will have time for preparation. You will help him with cross questions he may likely to face during presentations. This will give him confidence to face people while conversing in English.
3.Introduce him with senior level people of Industries. Ask him to do follow up visits. It is always easier to visit person second time, specially with person like Pushpak.
4.Hope this will start giving positive results. Now ask him to visit industries and specifically ask him to meet Mr. —- (some Senior level person). This will force him to meet that person.
5.Then you may plan face to face session . Explian him how he has improved and how important it is to improve further for his carrier. It is necessary that through one’s own little success he may be realized that he has big potential and he can do better.

Hope you yourself can do better than me and after finishing case A you will not require help in case B.
