If you want to open an online card crafts/scrapbooking store, you need to consider a few things first.

Is the market saturated? I.e. Are there a lot of similar sites available in your region?

Don’t underestimate the startup costs of online businesses, you need advertising and brand building to lure visitors to your site! Will it be a local business? In that case, you can do with a smaller scale advertising setup with a more personal twist.

Make a lot of example cards and post them on the site, under a gallery of some sort. You probably figured it’s important to show off your product 😛

Lastly, what’s your capacity like? You have to make sure that you can actually handle all kinds of requests. A handmade card sells for what, 3 dollars? No idea as I’ve never bought one, but in any case you need a lot of traffic to actually make good money off of it.

In short; if you’re confident that you can offer something that’s not commonly found on the market in your target area, and you have a lot of capacity and some cash to get going, you can always give it a try.
You risk losing your investment, though, so keep handing out CVs anyway.

Come to think of it, this kind of business would be better if you started it off as a spare time moneymaking project, with a job on the side. The income won’t be high in the beginning, and certainly not stable, so don’t base yourself on immediate success.

Yes of course we need more investment for starting online business…But once we have captured the marketing strategy then we can take the profit easily back…We should work hard for the page rank and site traffic but we have achieved then we never have to worry about the larger investment….
