I’ve had a troll around, there’s some stuff here that might be interesting,
put ‘Btec first business coursework units’ into yahoo search,
then scroll down to and click on ‘BTECH Business’, scroll down 3 or 4 pages, hope it might help.

Steven asks…

Question on fees for international students in AU?

Hi, there!

I E-mailed an Australian university to get an answer for this question, but I got some unrelated answers two or three times ):

Okay, there is an Associate Degree in Business and Commerce via online studying I could be interested in. The degree encompasses 16 units spread over two years as full time studying. The Web-site for this university states that the “full international fee” is AUD 21,200 . But what do they mean by this? Is this for a full year or for the full degree meaning two years?

The most important consideration for me is knowing the fee per unit. So, if “full fee” means only 1 year, the price per unit is AUD 2,650 (AUD 21,200 divided by 8 units per year). However, if the “full fee” means 2 years, the price per unit is AUD 1,325 (AUD 21,200 divided by 16 units for the whole two years). What of these assumptions is correct?

Thanks very much,

CAL “Makberto”
P.S.: Just for the record and to be as precise as possible: I am talking about Monash, online studying via Internet for a non-Australian (international) and not via traditional brick-and-mortar studying, and this degree is very far from being a Master’s since it is an Associate’s (Pre-Bachelor). Thanks!

Jere answers:

I am a local Australian student and your second assumption sounds right to me, it would probably be for two years because $1,325 per unit sounds about what I pay

Linda asks…

Is 20 units too much for one college semester?

I don’t have a job, so I will have time basically all day.
I just found out I need to take certain classes by the end of this fall semester to apply for a RT(Radiology Tech) program.
I am taking
Bio40A 5 units
AHS200 Online 3 units
RT200 1 unit
Acctg20 5 units(Its for the Business Degree I am kinda almost done working towards)
Finite Math Online 3 units
PoliSci Hybrid 3 units

Should I just put off the courses for my Business Admin Degree for now, so that I can for sure get into the Radiology Tech program that I really want to get into? or should I work towards both since I am almost done with my Business Degree.(I need about 8-10 classes left for that degree)
This is my second yr in college..and I would be going to more than one college..
oh and I do really well with online courses..well so far..and I have taken more than 5..

Jere answers:

Yes it is too much. Most colleges will only allow you to take up to 18 units at a time. After 18 you need permission from the school

Thanks in advance!

Jere answers:

I’d suggest something with a duo core, expecially for multi-tasking. Get something with at least 2 gigs of ram, preferably with a CPU above 1.8 GHz, and some decent storage space in the hard drive 100+ Gigabytes.

Also you didn’t provide a budget so it makes it hard to really give out more specific suggestions. Toshiba, HP, Dell are very good computers, but user experience varies between person to person.

Jere answers:

This is a typical scam. From the scammer’s writing I’d say he’s from West Africa, possibly Nigeria or Ghana.

The two most obvious signs:

1. UK phone numbers starting with 070 (or +4470 internationally) are so-called follow-me numbers. These look like landlines but in reality simply forward calls to another phone number anywhere in the world. These numbers are very popular with scammers as it lets them pretend they’re in the UK when they’re not.

2. Whenever payment is requested by cash transfer services such as Western Union or Moneygram, there’s a 99.99999% chance it’s a scam. Cash transfer is too costly for legit companies (somebody needs to physically walk to the WU outlet, pick up the cash for each transaction individually and finally deposit it on the company’s account). Scammers on the other hand love these services – with only so much as the MTCN or reference number and secret Q&A, you can pick up the cash and disappear without a trace.

If you agree on cash on delivery, the scammer will find another way to ask for money via WU – shipping cost, customs fees, anything he thinks might work with you. Just tell him you’re not interested anymore.
