Your Questions About Email Marketing

Michael asks…

Techy stuff I need to know before I start an email marketing campaign ?

I need some advice related to the more techy part of email marketing. I hear things about aweber, VPS, interspire, MTA, Dedicated Servers, socks proxies, SMTP etc. But everything is so confusing.
Let’s say I have a BIG forum with thousands and thousands of members and I want to send them an e-mail every 2 weeks. I read all about spam acts, subscribers, unsubscribers, opt-ins, double-optins,
HTML email format but I can’t seem to make the connection between the marketing part and the tech part of this.

What do I need in terms of hardware, software, scripts and all that ?
If I have interspire do I need VPS ?
If I have interspire do I need socks proxies ?
If I want to send 10.000 emails to all the members in one day what kind of VPS do I need (RAM,HDD,internet connection) ?
If I want to send 200 emails/day what kind of VPS do I need ?
If I have VPS do I need a a aweber account ?

Please explain in your own words…
Thanks

Jere answers:

Well if you just want to send email to members of the forum then provided if you are an admin you should be able to do it via Admin control panel

1) You’ll need an email sending software and autoresponder
Autoresponders are messages that are automatically sent when subscribers sign up to receive information from you. You can schedule a whole series of messages to go out at the daily intervals you set.

2) yes
3)yes
4) A good Vps with moderate specs.
5) Can be done through home connection
6) Makes things easier refer 1 for autoresponder

Sandra asks…

how do I email market my solution at no cost?

I want to reach out to web designers to let them know of the web solution I offer. I choose email marketing to get to them. I dont have email subscribers. I want to know if there is an organisation that would offer to email market my solution at no cost and ready to share the profits from the sales made through the campaign. Please advise.

Jere answers:

Nope. Your best option is to just start pounding the phones. As people start to use your product it will catch on by word of mouth.

John asks…

Is email marketing dead for internet marketing?

I just wanted to know if email marketing is dead or not? Like is still the best way to market products and services? Especially within the Internet marketing niche?

Jere answers:

Google “email marketing” and see how many results you get. Email Marketing is definitely not dead, actually, it is still said to be one of the marketing tools with the highest ROI. Though it seems that Social Media is taking all people’s attention over, you still cannot deny that email marketing is still more powerful for business!

Social networks are like the old square where people used to get together and listen to a lecture. It’s good for making you a “celebrity” over one night if you know how to speak there. However, how many salesman have you seen that succeeded in selling things in the square? Not so many… Email Marketing is more targeted and cost-effective, and as long as emails don’t die out, email marketing will still be alive.
