Your Questions About Email Marketing Lists

Carol asks…
Email Marketing Question?
Should i put the name of my website or the name of the clickbank
product in the “From” field of my email campaigns?

Jere answers:
Ideally an email marketer cultivates his mailing list with useful informational mailings interspersed with the advertisements, so readers actually look forward to opening an email from you. People too often use the canned pre-written email promotions from product makes, down to the message title.

Joseph asks…
Email list management for marketing?
I’ve got a campaign running and I would like to set up a list to collect e-mails from subscribers and allow me to download it into an excel table of email addresses.
Are there any free / low cost software or (preferably) online list management websites that you can recommend? I’ve tried searching on Google but I’m not sure what search terms to use.
Here’s what I would like to happen:
1) subscribers visit a website to leave their contact details to sign up to my newsletter alerts
2) I visit the website and download the emails of the subscribers into an excel file.
3) I upload the excel contacts into my existing email software to get in touch with my subscribers.

James asks…
Please provide me with some tips on email marketing?
Really want to know about how email marketing works

Jere answers:
Email marketing is becoming a lot easier these days as the online marketing industry grows. If you are tech savvy you can simply sign up to an auto-responder service & get started. Most email marketing services will provide you with comprehensive training on how to complete your email list building & marketing campaigns.
The process of email marketing is like this:
List Building.
First you will require an email list for people to subscribe to, this is easily achieved by using an opt-in page or form which will be provided by your email marketing service. You will also be able to upload lists that you may already have ie; colleagues, clients, business associates, etc.
Bribing your visitors.
The most common way to build your email lists is to offer something to entice visitors to enter there contact details to your opt-in form ie; free report, free software, newsletter, etc.
Managing your lists.
Depending on your email provider, most should give you the ability to create a variety of lists. This is helpful if you want to separate your subscribers by gender, ethnicity, location, etc.
Mailing to your lists.
Once you have started building your email lists you can send them manual or automated messages. Most services will allow you to create a series of pre-written messages called a ‘campaign’ & set each message to be sent at a certain time ie, 1 day after sign up, 3 days after sign up, etc.
If you are short for time/experience there are tons of services that will actually handle the whole process for you. Online marketing had exploded with hungry internet marketers in the last 5 years which has made it really easy to outsource this kind of work.
Here is a list of popular email services:
Aweber.com
iContact.com
Mailchimp.com
Infusionsoft.com
GetResponse.com

Susan asks…
Email Marketing (Spam?)?
I have a product that i would like to offer people in the trade who use it. I have a list of contacts Email addresses that I would like to send an Email to with my offer. How do I go about sending a load of Emails without being blocked for ‘Spamming’ or if this is Spamming then how do I professionally go about marketing by Email. Thanks

Jere answers:
How many people are you talking about, and do you know them personally?
Contacting a limited number of people you already know about an offer is not spam, but sending someone you don’t know commercial email is.
In order to go about this in a professional manner I would take some content out of the paid offer and turn it into a free version that you can give away in exchange for people’s email address. When they subscribe offer them a special deal to get the whole package. You can get affiliates building your list by giving them a %age of the sale – typically > 50% for digital products.
Hope this helps
Andrew
