Your Questions About Email Marketing Services

Lizzie asks…
Email marketing service?
Could anyone recommend a good cost effective email marketing service. One that allows HTML design and manages subscribers, mailing lists etc.

Jere answers:
Go to Sourceforge.net and search for Dada mail. It is open source and therefore no cost. Aweber, etc cost $25 +/- or more per month.
You can also check out http://markvs.webprosperity.com which gives you a mail manager, autoresponder (Get Response) and a marketing web site for $29.95 a month. Plus you can market the product and make commissions on it.

Charles asks…
Can I legally market my services to people who connect with me on LinkedIn?
I mean linkedin has a feature where you can export your contacts and retrieve their email addresses. So my question is if someone connected with me on linkedin am i allowed to take their email address and market my services to them as i would say my website’s subscriber?

Jere answers:
Yes, but do not spam them or send everyone the same email at the same time. That is a great way to lose customers.

Ken asks…
How can I market my services to small computer consulting companies?
Hi All,
I am a network engineer and would like to market my services to small computer consulting companies.
I was thinking of mailing flyers, sending targeted emails, or attending trade shows. Which techniques work best?
Thanks,
Nick
Thanks for the business card idea. Should I go pounding on doors or give them out at trade shows?

Jere answers:
I’m not exactly sure, ha ha, but if you want to market your services, a good idea is to post them on a free classified ads website. Http://www.stumblehere.com is a great site for this. Their direct link to the ‘services’ section is http://stumblehere.com/search/subject-services/search_where-city/.

Betty asks…
Is it illegal to call companies requesting information under false pretense?
I’m being advised by my manager to call companies to acquire names and email addresses of management staff for future marketing services. We are being made to call from a blocked number, and act as though we are or were recently customers at these places. Is there anything illegal about this practice?
I’m feeling like it is unethical, but wanted to find out if there were legal implications to this, as well.
Thanks!

Jere answers:
All signs point to yes…get a lawyer and start protecting yourself..quit this job immediately if this is common practice

Jere answers:
Its lying….and i agree its unethical…..”thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor” exodus 20:16….so, my suggestion is to talk to your manager and say that you can’t do this b/c it is wrong
