Your Questions About Email Marketing Templates

Mark asks…
What is the best software to use for creating a simple but impressive (CSS type) business website? ?
I know there are template based programs available through hosting packages etc but are these any good? And if so which ones – do they look professional and slick? Many thanks for any help – I just don’t have time to learn dreamweaver right at this moment!

Jere answers:
Recommend you try creating a free professional website with Microsoft Office Live Small Business – http://starturl.com/officelive . Currently, MS is offering a free domain name (i.e. Yourbusiness.com) for the first year. It also has a free online web design tool that allows you to create web pages without coding. You can upload your own website as well when you have time to design one later on. It comes with 500mb of storage and has no ads. A website is only one part of your online presence – you will need to have good email marketing campaigns and office live has that capability as well.

Mary asks…
What computer courses should I take to make myself more marketable?
Im 29 and embarrassed to say that I know next to nothing about computers. I know WORD but just what I needed to write essays as a university student. Now Im finished but I feel at a huge disadvantage because Ive got a liberal arts degree and its very hard to get a job. I have a lot of qualities and life experiences that I believe have made me a well rounded and educated person. I speak 3 languages fluently; I have lived in various countries. But as you recent college graduates know, having specific jobs skills or experience in a field are the most valuable assets. the job market isnt for those who have a broad education. Im in a post bachelor diploma now to get a teaching certificate, but I would also like to have more options, maybe work for a company in an office job. I have a bachelors degree in Linguistics. I GREATLY appreciate your advice; Im pretty frustrated and a little depressed. Thanks!

Your best bet is to *first* sit down with a general overview from a good tech book series such as the “missing manual” or “visual quickstart guide” — e.g. “Mac OS X: The Missing Manual”, by David Pogue … These two particular series are designed to be read alone, sitting next to a computer, and will teach you nearly everything you need to know. Books published by O’Reilly or Peachpit are your best bet. After a general overview to the operating system of your choice, you should learn Word, Excel, and Powerpoint … Word and powerpoint you can learn from practice and exploring (they’re easier than they look): make up bogus documents and format them to your hearts content… Play with the styles and templates … Peruse a guide in the library. Excel you really need to learn from a book/workshop. Knowing Microsoft Access will make you extremely marketable to many small businesses. Many townships have community education programs which teach all of this.
You should spend about a month learning the OS, the bundled applications (email, address book, calendar, web browser, and so on), and what all of the settings do, and then the office suite should take you 4 to 6 months to get pretty competent (the bulk of the time being on Access and Excel).
The icing on the cake for a business is experience in scripting and programming languages. You should learn HTML and Visual Basic (both of which would take you a couple months), and especially Java (which would take you a year if you took a semester-long class, which is taught at every community college in the country).

I have a silly little picture in my mind of a card with the “Top Secret File” logo on the front. (Google “Top Secret” and hit images to see what I’m talking about). I don’t know if retail makes any cards that have that on the front, but maybe you can make them at home? I know you can buy blank cards from places like Hallmark, and they give a link to a website with the template and then you can make it yourself.
However, I AM pretty sure that places like Hallmark sell cards that mention “surprise party” on the front and/or the envelope. If you don’t see any of those, just buy a nice graduation party invitation that you like.
Write something along the lines of “You are invited to a surprise party celebrating the college graduation of [sister’s name]. [Sister’s name] will be graduating from [UCLA] this [spring] with a [Bachelor’s degree in Marketing].” Then fill in the rest of the information: Thrown by: _____, Date: ______, Location: ______, RSVP/Contact information: _____
Also, if it’s going to be a surprise, you may want to look ahead and plan how to hide it. Make sure that the phone number you give them to contact/RSVP with WILL NOT be seen by your sister; make it your own personal email and your own personal cell phone number; if you only have a house number, make a note to not leave a detailed message in case she overhears.
If you want it a secret until the very end, you’ll have to make the arrangements of who to take her out while you set up, how they’re going to entertain her for the time it takes to set up, the time they’ll be bringing her back, and the signal to turn off the lights. In order to keep it a surprise until the very end, you’ll also have to hide the cars of the visitors!!! Figure out the best place for them to park so that your sister doesn’t see all the cars as she’s pulling up; have them park around the corner and have the ” secret escorts” drive her home from the other side of the block or something.
Good luck! Hope it all works out. And remember, even if somehow she finds out and the surprise is spoiled, the party will still be fun!

Ruth asks…
What is the cheapest hosting for my domain?
I want to blog and am Looking for the most reliable hosting, with a fair price. Where should I go?

Jere answers:
I found this found this helpful link- http://www.ims-oc.com/top-reasons-why-dreamhost-is-most-reliable/
If you are in the market for a Domain Hosting Service, I highly recommend going with DreamHost over other Hosts for these TOP 10 reasons:
1) They are completely user-friendly
I personally bought 6-8 different hosting packages in my career from Ipowerweb, Powweb, Lunarpages, Hostgator, and several others and my vote goes to Dreamhost, since they are most advance and simple as they come. Yin & YANG… best of both worlds.
2) Employee-owned
You know that you’ll get Class A support, service, and product when the company employees are vested. Wouldn’t you work your butt off if you worked for a company that you own? In my experience, this principle can be taken beyond just hosting. It’s just purely SMART.
3) Comprehensive help
With brilliantly designed user-supported Wiki-Page, what else can go wrong? There’s a high chance that the questions you have had already been asked. Dreamhost makes it easy for you to navigate questions existing customers already asked so you can access them with ease.
4) Incredibly creative Company
There are many available software and plug-ins that you can use to enrich your product/page that Dreamhost bring to your front door. This hosting company is very well vested in your success, thus then networks you with their affiliates and partners… services they too themselves buy.
5) Online Customer Support around the Clock
The concept of virtual assistance wasn’t around when I first signed up, but Dreamhost evolved as expected. With a press-button access, much like the “easy-button” at Staples you can immediately access virtual assistance. This is common nowadays, but surprisingly some hosting providers are still behind.
6) Very responsive (You can either call or login to contact their online Virtual Assistant).
Most companies are quick to fire back auto-reply emails, but let’s face it, some organic replies are not in a timely fashion. Dreamhost’s response rate eliminates that headache thus you have one less thing to worry.
7) Customized back-end Control Panel / Dashboard
Beautifully designed back-end makes you proud to be a customer. Easy to navigate within the first few days of use. Most hosting company are still stuck on the CPANEL nightmare. If your hosting provider still does not have a customized Control PANEL, then you’re with a company that is a follower, and not a leader.
Money-back Guaranteed.
I know most companies promise you a guarantee within their guidelines, but Dreamhost’s team would go out of their way to refund beyond deadline dates.
9) One-button Installation.
If you want to insert a blog to go with your domain, all you have to do is enter your domain and press install. Dreamhost will actually automatically install wordpress for you. You can also integrate shopping carts, picture gallery’s and much more with the same push-button installation. All in house. All inclusive.
10) You get what you pay for.
Again, I particularly like the fact that Dreamhost has its own customized user panel, which removes all the headaches and intimidation of your typical CPANEL (Template Dashboard), which most companies still use. You can also host unlimited domains and email addresses. From my experience, pick DreamHost for a complete peace of mind.
DreamHost’s package costs $8.95 a month which is a very affordable rate. I plan on staying with these guys for the next 10 plus years.
If you truly must go cheap… my second recommendation is HostGator. I have used HostGator before, and although I am an affiliate to both Hosts (Hostgator pays me more for my surveys), I prefer DreamHost over Hostgator simply because I am very critical about originality. However, programmers and sophisticated users will have no problem with HostGator. And if you can navigate, think, and breathe like a programmer, than Hostgator is good enough for you.
HostGator’s hosting package can run as low as $4.95 per month. In my opinion, Quality always prevail over the Quantity it costs. DreamHost
