Your Questions About Email Marketing Templates

Robert asks…
Looking for tips and ideas on how to advertise my small business for free.?
I have a small furniture/antique repair business. I am looking for free or low, low budget ideas to advertise my small business around my town/city. Any ideas would be great however I am not really looking to advertise much on the web. I appreciate any creative ideas. Thanks!

Jere answers:
Well first off, if you are not on the web, you are invisble in todays market place I hate to say.
So I would go to www.GoDaddy.com and spend $9.20 for a dot com (per year) and you will also get a free email address and a free forwarding of the dot com (pointing it to an actual site). Most others charge for email and forwarding, GoDaddy is by far the best.
Next get on www.Blogger.com or www.WordPress.com and set up a blog in your company name. You choose the colors, layout, and what it says. Upload some pictures, etc of your business, of work done before and after. Now take this address (sallysmithwoodworking.blogger.com) and put that into your GoDaddy account as the forwarding address. Now when people go to the dot com, they will be transfered to your blog aka your site. Blogs are free.
Now get on YouTube.com and set up a free account again under your business name. Either video tape a few items you do or have someone do it. Then upload these videos to your YouTube account. You can even link these videos onto your blog as well to be viewed there. Blog instructions will guide you on how to do this, real easy.
Next get on MySpace.com and again, set up a free account here. Choose your colors, layout, etc. And again put in info, text of what you do, pictures, video’s, etc.
Now the purpose of all this is to get massive exposure on the internet. For that is how people find you and your business. Since you have a dot com, that will show up in search results. Don’t forget to do the keywords (words that fit your business… Like wood, cherry, walnut, “your town”, “your city”, cabinets, tables, antiques, etc… These “keywords” are what seach engines hunt for, so use words wisely).
But as well as your dot com gaining traffice… That blog will gain traffic through the blog itself and its ability to post items into search engines for you. Each posting you put into a blog can be found via a search say on google.
This again is true with YouTube and MySpace. And since you are already using Yahoo Answers. Again, I would set up an account with your company name and answer questions pertaining to your craft and knowledge. Again, these too will show up in search engine results. Sign each answer with your company name or dot com, to again make it appear over n over again as well.
The more times you show up, the more the search engine realizes this and bumps you up the line of search results. That is how you get near the top or not near the top, by how many times your info is “hit”.
Now besides a night or two of playing w/ premade templates and choosing colors and what you want to say about your business. All you have spent is $9.20 yet you have accomplished what $10,000+ would of done if you paid another to do this and/or print work as well.
Besides this, make sure you are in phone book and online phonebook, same company.
You can run weekly ad’s on www.Craigslist.com about your business. Many people shop that free site. Posting, etc is all free there.
Local papers ad’s in the back are cheap but don’t get much notice. Coupon books and monthly Val Pak’s only work for certain businesses. High investment to “test” the waters.

George asks…
Should I start my own business selling Alaska Photos?
I have over 5000 Photos of Wildlife.
I have been taking photos for years and really want to do it full time for myself, but Im not sure if there will be enough of a demand for them. Does anyone know business owners who would like to have photos to put in there office.
Where do i go to get a 2000.00 loan to get started?

Jere answers:
I am a professonal Alaskan wildlife and nature photographer and I also run the Photography Division at the Alaska State Fair. Most non-professionals who have 5,000 photos on their hard drive – about 10-18 are totally awesome, 20 or so are pretty nice but need major editing to be marketable, and about 100 that appeal to special interest. You need to first start culling out the photos – get down to your best.
Next – you need to asses the photos. If they are 35mm, large format, or taken with a 6mp or larger digital camera – these have enough resolution for commercial use. Anything smaller you might not be able to sell.
Once you’ve narrowed your photos down to your best – create a portfolio of images at least 13×19 printed on good paper. These you can show to anyone local that may use them.
You need to find a printer in your area that will work with you. Yes, online is cheaper, but, if someone orders a print and it arrives damaged or the wrong tint – you are usually unable to get a refund or reprint. Dealing with a local printer face to face is money well spent. Later on if one of your photos becomes famous – then look online for a mass printing 🙂
You need exposure. Look for events where you can enter into local contests – earn some ribbons for your work! Start getting noticed. Phone books always look for local photos – so submit some to Alaskan ones. Do not enter any online contests – these are usually just people looking to rip off free nice photos. Take some of your best work and make them into enlargements 24×36 or larger – find public places that will let you display them – libraries, city halls, public buildings, hospitals, medical buildings – get your work up on some walls!
Once you get some ribbons and awards – you have a toe hold to start talking and begining marketing your work. Web sites are inexpensive if you do most of your own work – there are ALLOT of web templates specific to photographers you can buy for a few bucks a month that look like an expensive custom site where you can show your work online. These also help prevent your work from being stolen, downloaded and misused.
Do not print up anything you do not want to hang in your house! LOL. Good chance the photos you have printed and like the best………these won’t be the ones people want. I have seen this happen many, many times.
It could take you a long, long time to go through all your photos. Like eating an elephant – just take it one bite at a time. Best to find someone TRAINED or with artistic skills to look over what you think are the best – and suggest crops, changes etc. Have thick skin, and, don’t take any negative critiques personal – this is a must during the process.
One last bit of advice. If you really enjoy photography – don’t turn this into a job. Only work on your photos when you enjoy it – your entheuism will be part of your marketing. You don’t want to end up like some burned out photographers in a little booth at the mall……….

Recently seen an article with somebody that made a home buisness?
on lip balms and I’m inspired. Any ideas on what I could do? Something dead simple like lip balms which are cheap and easy to make, but look great.

Jere answers:
I set people up on a daily business with their own online businesses and it really is very simple my own thing that i would say is do something that is
a – has a market
b – that you know
i.e. When people contact me the first thing i ask them is what there hobbies are and what jobs theyve had in the past. Instead of doing lipbalms find something that you know a lot about.
I set one lady up that was a fashion jornalist and she now does her thing selling clothes online, talking about what the celebs wear, how to get clothes for cheap etc.
Another lady who lives in the states is a final year student in webdesign and now has her own website selling web templates and it means she’ll now have her uni debts paid off before she leaves.
Its just about finding something your good at and sticking with it. If you want some tips im happy to guide you in the right direction and my email address is in my profile.
Kind regards
sam
