I have just finished reading a biography about a young entrepreneur named Cameron Johnson, who started up over 10 online businesses before the age of 21 and now he is a multi-millionaire. His book was extremely informative and he has a website that he’s contributed that is called http://www.millionairesecrets.com/tips

This place a a ton of useful advice on how to get an on-line business up and running. You do have to sign in, but its worth it. Or get his book and use it as a reference, I was very pleased with it!

Linda asks…

how can I start a travel agency business online?

I would like to start a travel agency business online while I study college.I’m from Canada and I know web sites which don’t have tangible business.Where can I find information about all the requirements to start a travel agency online? also how can I do that?

thank you in advance

Jere answers:

No offense, but don’t bother. The travel industry is SO competitive that you would honestly not survive it. There are already so many options for hotels and airfare that there’s really no foreseeable way that you can make it a profitable business, especially since you won’t be doing it full time. This is NOT one of those jobs you can just do on the side for some quick dough while you’re studying. How are you going to give customer service? Where are you buying your flights from that could possibly be cheaper or more efficient than if a customer just bought it directly from the airline or a major travel site like Expedia or Travelocity? Be realistic here: it’s not going to be profitable at all.

Carol asks…

Just started a business, how can I promote it online in an affordable way?

Hello,

I have started a business recently and it includes conducting the business online as well. As a new business it is very hard for me to advertise and I have limited budget as well. I have made a Facebook and Twitter pages already and although I have a few hundred likes and followers, I still haven’t made any sales.

I have thought of buying testimonials as I don’t have any customers yet, so other potential customers can be affected by their words?

What do you think?

Jere answers:

It’s very hard to start a new business and have it up and running. Customers would not buy from you unless you prove you are a reliable seller, you would need to build up a reputation for yourself.

And yes, a guaranteed method that will change your potential client’s opinion of your store is if they hear/see satisfied customers recommend it because they are more likely to believe someone in their position rather than the seller. The major problem for starting businesses is that you haven’t had any clients yet, like in your case.

I know because I have faced the same problems as you have and I have found that companies providing actor testimonials for you work surprisingly well. Once I had a couple of testimonials, people started buying. Also, I have found that video testimonials work 100% compared to only text testimonials, because when people see a real face and hear him/her speak they believe it more, while a text on your website might just be made up by yourself.

Currently, I use Genius Testimonials and I am really happy because I like the testimonials they provide me and I find them to be affordable but good.

Nancy asks…

can a 14 year old start an online business?

i’m 14 and i want to start my own business online but can i do it without the knowledge of website making? if so how?

Jere answers:

Yes I’m sure you can. I think it is great that someone aged 14 is interested in business and interested in making a living and creating products and services for others.

As others have said, you will have to get an adult to sponsor you, such as your parents or a teacher or a club at school.
I would start off small. You are bound to make some mistakes, so try to make these with small amounts of money so you don’t lose too much.
But you must still get a good education, because you need other options in case your businesses are not successful in the future.

Good luck!
