Your Questions About How To Do Business Online In Singapore

Mary asks…
Best country/language for doing business in the future?
Everyone now is saying “China, China, China, China, China!” But researching online has given me other results. According to the Ease of Doing Business Index, China has a rather low ranking! And other sites also suggest that places like Singapore and Hong Kong are the best. It’s weird because if you go to any site that has people put in their viewpoints (like Yahoo answers, forums, etc) the majority say China is the best! So I’m just wondering: Why does everyone say China is good for business? Is it actually? By the way, I’m half Chinese and half American and know Chinese pretty fluently. It would be AWESOME to do business between foreign countries (especially China: also, it’s so fun there! So much to do! Especially in my Chinese mom’s native town of Shanghai!!). I mean if I did business I would do it in China anyway because I speak the language well, but I’m just wondering about how good it would be to to business there. A side note: I’m learning French (school) and like it a lot; I will be continuing it throughout college and will hopefully be pretty fluent eventually. I’m also learning Japanese because, well, I just like it! Lol. As a result, U.S, China, France, and Japan are my favorite countries 🙂 I’ve been to all of them and soooooo cool! Haha anyway thanks for reading all of this and I hope you can answer my question(s)!
EDIT: By “best for doing business” I mean including ALL factors; how easy is it to do business there (rules, taxes, whatever I’m not too knowledgeable on this but I will do more research), how much money you would likely make, etc. Also, if you did business in China, what kind of things/products would usually be good for doing business with? I’ve heard textiles….but that’s horrible! Lol. Like for example Japan is pretty well-known for it’s technology; if you did business with Japan and U.S you would likely be dealing with technology (which would actually be cool haha).

Jere answers:
Sounds like you’ve already done your homework. The most important factor is how do you feel about the culture.

Laura asks…
Is this online iPhone 3GS deal reliable?
I have been searching online for cheap iPhone 3GS deals. And i saw this one : IPHONE 3GS 32GB for $320 USD (inclusive of 20 USD delivery to Singapore). Furthermore, I will get a free PSP SLIM.
I contacted the person thru email and asked him how he could afford to sell the phones so cheaply, and he replied
“All our products are brand New,factory sealed with complete accessories and we are distributor in all kinds of Latest Electronics,we buy in BULK directly from the manufacturer at Container prices,We re-sell to wholesaler and retailer at affordable prices………
We assure and guarantee 100% high quality products and efficient delivery scheme to our customer destination within 2 days directly to your door step.
We offer REFUND POLICY in case of accident, damage or otherwise we will REFUND your money within 24hrs, so that we can do more business in Future.”
It also needs me to transfer the money thru Western Union and promises me that my goods will be delivered within 48 hours.
What is your take? Is it reliable? Or is it an online fraud??
I also chanced upon another deal by different people of roughly the same prices (abit more expensive) : IPHONE 3GS 32GB for 360 USD. and this person sounds polite. What is your take?

Jere answers:
I just dont trust those deals. Especially the ones that sound to good to be true. Be careful.

David asks…
How do I check my education level in Singapore? eg. “O” level credits?
Ever since I left school, I have been running my own business as a self employed for the past 15 years. I’ve never collected my “O” level cert since I have no use for it till now. I am applying for a course for a license that requires certain no. of credits. I can’t remember how many “O” level credits I had. I’m trying to avoid the awkwardness of calling up my school 15 years later to ask about my cert. Is there any way that I can find out online?
Thanks!

Jere answers:
You can try getting the information from the Ministry of Education. If this fails, then the only choice is to get it from the school. I don’t think you should feel awkward about this as quite a few people would request for duplicates of their exam results if they lose them.
Note:
1. You may have to pay for the duplicate.
2. You should try to get the info rather than ‘guess’ because the license may be void if it is found out that you gave inaccurate info.

Charles asks…
What do you think about this love story?
For those who actually have time to read this..
It’s all happened in such an unusual way. Me and her lived in different countries, she’s was in Singapore. Once she gets added to my msn out of NOWHERE, mark my words, NOWHERE. Neither did SHE add me nor did I. It was rly awkward. I was 13 at that time. So we started talking to each other, talking abt each other’s countries. 2 yrs passed and we became chat friends. After that we just stopped talking for one yr cuz idk. Tho i had started to like her then. Suddenly we came to know my dad got his business shifted to Singapore, so we had to move with him. I started msn with her again n she was rly shocked n all. So i came to Singapore, and she went to UK fr higher studies (lol?). One day she was pms-ing i think lol and asked me to go on msn again. There on (we were 18 then) we talked rly maturely n started havin feelings. The nxt day i proposed her (online). Since then she’s on a one year vacation in Singapore, with me and we had a one year PERFECT relationship. She loved me to the extent that I swear to u guys she cut her body parts just for me just cuz out of anger i once broke up with her. See how fated it was? All the way from meeting on msn randomly to having a perfect relationship in the same country. We broke up 2 weeks ago, it is all heck of a complicated sh*t. We still love each other but yeah decided to let it go. Too many fights n stuff. Now she said she’ll never ever have a bf. But i think her opinion will change when she starts her uni in September. My question to u is, should i wait for her to get over all this and get her again? She’s my life
Thanks for answering
