How do you start a small home business legally?
I would like to start a home business. (not an Internet based business). How do I go about starting one from home? Also how do I start one Legally. I live In New York State.

Go to the county office building, get the papers for filing your Business Name (DBA, Doing business as). Contact the State Dept of Taxation and Finance in Albany ~~~ you need authority to collect and pay Sales Tax Monies to the State. Get the right kind of insurance for your business: LIability, Inventory, Property Damage.

How do you go about to get a wholesale license?
So you can buy things at whole sale prices and sell them at retail value. What if it is a internet business? or You want to sell them in a store?

You go to your local state tax office.
They will be happy to provide you with a tax resale number that you will need to get into the trade shows… They will want you to pay them state tax if you sell in your state you would send them the percent. If you don’t sell anything in your state you won’t need to send them anything but you’ll still have to submit the paperwork once a year with a value of -0-.

How would i check to see if an internet-based business already exists? (if i want to make my own)?
I have an idea for an internet-based business but is there a way to check to see if someone already beat me to the idea? (For example, say i wanted to create a website where people ‘bid’ for things for sale, but didnt know ebay already exists, so how do i check?)
How would i go about ‘protecting’ my idea so no one steals it from me while in the process of making it happen..
And does anyone know any steps to creating a web site based business? Thanks!

Search the internet for the idea you have for the internet-based business. That will let you know if someone already has one.
There are lots of websites that will help you to create a web-based business. You should have a business plan – an idea of who would want to buy your product, etc. Money to make everything happen, etc. Check some of the earlier posts related to this subject. There’s a lot of good info out there.
You’ll need to get a company to host the site. You can try surpasshosting.com and get a very reasonable price.

I started a successful part-time bath and body business. I now have a baby coming and need to quickly move the business. Unfortunately all the business for sale sites promise a lot but charge a lot to sell a small business. Any ideas on how to move the business quickly?

Is this in your home or an internet biz?
Find a college female who is majoring in biz and offer her a management job based on net profits, not
on salary
if this is a PT biz without 3yrs history, it will be near impossible to sell
if it an internet biz, it has no value; no offense

What do Internet marketers do about shipping?
When starting my own Internet marketing business online, what do I do in order to ship the products? Do I have to ship them out myself? What do Internet marketers do about shipping products to customers?

I you are selling your own physical products online, then you organise shipping. If you are selling through dropshipping then you just include shipping in you markup price and your drop ship supplier organises shipping.
However, the majority of internet marketers operate through “affiliate marketing”. Where you promote somebody else’s products through an affiliate link and receive a commission per sale. The owner of the product organises everything. Affiliate sites include, Amazon.com (small commission), Clickbank.com (up to 75% commission, no shipping as all products can be downloaded). Paydotcom.com (same as Clickbank.com), JVZoo.com (up to 100% commission on front end products i.e. The vendor makes their profit on an upsell)
