Your Questions About Internet Business Phone Service

Carol asks…
What is the most popular business VOIP service?
I am looking to setup a Cisco UC540W system and would like to know what the best voip service to connect to would be. It would be for a single office with 2 users/lines and we would like to do international calls as well (but that isn’t too important). Recommendations services that you use, and what their benefits are, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Jere answers:
VoIP stands for Voice over Internet Protocol is a method to make and receive phone calls using your broadband Internet connection instead of your phone line connection.

How do I remove Blackberry business limitations?
So basically my dad has recently gotten the new Blackberry Torch & won’t be using his Blackberry Bold anymore. Everything is perfect except the fact that his Bold was a business phone so they put limitations (such as no BBM, no Facebook, no downloading ect..). Is there anyway to remove these limitations from the Bold that his business has put on and start new?
Thanks

Jere answers:
Sure.
Take the phone to a local AT&T store and sign up for BIS (BlackBerry Internet Service).
The phone is currently on BES (BlackBerry Enterprise Server) which is a private network set up by the company your dad works for.

What kind of start up business can a 22 yr old student do, with little time living in Hawaii?
I’m 22, I go to school in Hawaii, and I have 2 friends who own their own business‘. One has a successful auto detailing business from home, and the other cleans houses and condos and also does fairly well. They can do it on their time on their schedule, and make tons, which is exactly what I need as a student in Hawaii… I just need a little help figuring out what to do! Any ideas? would be appreciated! Mahalo! Thanks!

Jere answers:
I have an idea for you. I have a friend that has her own business and does very well. You might want to take a look at the telecommunications industry and collaborate with and have your own business within that industry. You can partner up with a 15 year old company. The largest direct selling telecommunications service provider in the world. (don’t just limit yourself to Hawaii either! You can go world wide!) They’ve been featured in several magazines like USA Today, Success, Fortune etc. Inc 500 rated them the 22nd fastest growing company. Donald Trump has endorsed them, uses the products and is highly involved in this company. They market in services people use every day and pay for anyway. Things such as local and long distance telephone services, Internet services, digital and video phone services, VOIP, Satellite TV and all the major celluar phone providers like Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T, Altell, Nextell. You help people save money on services that they are already using, or can offer them services that they don’t have. After helping someone on their existing services, or putting someone on a new service, every single month these people pay their bills, you make a percentage every single month, month after month. That’s just one way you make money in this business.
So there’s one idea for you.

How do you to add an extension to a mobile business phone to other mobile phone numbers?
I’m starting a business and its is online. My partners and I (3 of us) all have mobile phone numbers. We want to have one central number with extensions. For example, 1-888-Call-Today Ext.1, Ext 2, Ext 3. If they dial the extensions, it would go straight to our phones. Is this possible?

Jere answers:
Yes, it’s possible to have this setting with your system. You can get a toll free number from your mobile service provider but I am not sure of the setting of extensions that you want. I can suggest you a cost-effective alternative to the setup of this system. I don’t know whether you are aware of the functionality of VOIP. This is a cost-effective communication solution that most of the small and startup business organizations use for their business communication. I have also been using the same. With this, you can have a toll free number at a monthly rent and you can use the three mobile numbers as extensions. Here you can have two options:
1)You can forward the calls from your toll free number to your mobile phone. This will include the cost of incoming calls and the forwarding charges.
2)If all of you have phones that can support 3G or Wi-Fi internet, you can use this extension directly on your phone. You will just need to be logged in to your extension with the help of mobile dialer and the calls can ring directly on your cell phone. In this case, only the incoming toll free charges will be applicable.
Hosted PBX has a feature called IVR which can be used to make the setting like Ext.1, Ext 2, and Ext 3. You can also add some recording and specify the department to be addressed.
