Your Questions About Internet Business Phone Service

Susan asks…

Do I need to unlock my iPhone 5 to use it in Japan with a rental sim card?

I am having a business trip to Japan soon for around a month and I wonder if I can use my iPhone 5 there with the rental sim card from Softbank without unlocking the phone. Please share with me any info regarding using iPhone overseas. Or if you have any other options for cell phone/internet service. Thanks!

Jere answers:

It depends on how and when you got your iPhone 5. But you do need your iPhone 5 unlocked to use the SIM of another carrier.

AT&T will unlock your iPhone after 1 year. You call them up, and they unlock. If you have a Sprint or Verizon iPhone, it’s already unlocked, so you don’t need to go through the process.

Of course, if you paid a premium to get an unlocked AT&T phone, you don’t need to unlock something that already is, but you probably know it’s unlocked if that were the case.

With Washington Mutual Bank, there was a error, next thing I know my house is in foreclosure. Tried to access the web site, was blocked, Tried calling the 800 # after 2 times was blocked, called from my cell phone 2 times was blocked. The moment my account # was spoken, so sorry screw you. Went to the Washington Mutual Bank, took the lady 1 and half hours to get through to somebody, was hung up on twice. Who knows where to call? The 800 # is the only available # given. Work with you, don’t want to foreclose,, ya right,,, Went around and around with an operator that yelled so loudly at me the lady at the next desk heard her. Ask to speak to a supervisor, God forbid, Must of given lessons to the other one. Bank statements in my hand showing all payments, didn’t have a thing to discuss with me, nothing further, Enjoy my last night in my house, get packing… Then hung up the phone on me. Did get her name….haha made her repeat it and spell it for me 9 times. 5 minutes to 5:00 now what learned 10 days before hand my house was being auctioned off in two days. I work a forty hour week. This was my day off spent all day on not my phone, just to be nowhere, 7,800 dollars was expected no ifs, ands, or buts. Paid housepayments for 8 years never even late. Oh, was asked why it took me four days to lie around and do nothing about my situation, forget the arguing or should I say screaming….. They yelled louder and was ruder than I had been taught. Saved my house, why? Twice the amount of money on a 38,000$ loan is so much nicer than just paying it once with 10% interest. Clerical error…. 2 months ago, seemed to be a clitch. Still waiting for itemized list of funds paid to them. Never have received a statement telling me when my next housepayment was due, I think I paid up to July. 2 months ahead???? Mmmmph !!sTILL am waiting for an acknowledgement of received funds, can’t call them still blocked on phone and internet, have to go back to work now, maybe my bank will refund me the six dollars it cost to get copies of bank statements, ya think? Did turn her into the Better B.B. An operator on a different coast seemed to be in disbelief, why? Did she really say that to you? Recorded not on my end……. Operator floor supervisor I’ve got your #………..

What cell phones & services allow the use of the phone as a broadband adapter?

I’m looking for a cell phone provider and device that will allow me to hook it up to the laptop so I can go on the internet. There are limited options in terms of wired internet so I have to rely on wireless since the area I’m living in won’t get a signal unless it’s near a window and there are no areas where I can get broadband on the bay in the base.

Right now, i am using the verizon air card. I pay $60.++ for an unlimited data plan.

As far as i know verizon’s and sprint’s technology (ev-do) are way better than at&t and tmobile’s

i don’t know if you are familiar with pc cards, but the one that i am using is the USB version of it. So i can also use it for my desktop.

So far so good, i have been using it for business presentations and it is fast enough to serve its purpose. But don’t expect it to be as fast as cable internet.

If you are into movies and DVD burning, HP and Compaq computers are definitely your ticket. All HP and Compaq computers have a technology called light scribe. Light scribe allows you to make custom labels using your drives laser. You can buy these light scribe DVDs right at Best Buy. You burn what ever you want to burn as usual. Then you flip the disc over and create a label using the included light scribe control panel or Roxio Express Labeler.

For the HP line, it has light scribe as well, and it also has Quick Play. This Quick Play program allows you to watch movies without loading Vista. This saves 25% of battery power.

If you truly are looking for wireless Internet, you have 2 options:
WiMax
Cellular

WiMax is faster, but it is limited to within a city or a few cities. Just do a google search for wimax state where state is the sate you live in. A list of wimax providers should come up.

Cellular can pretty much be used where ever you can use your cell phone. You can still get some pretty good speeds.

If you just want wireless in your home, just get cable or DSL. You would then have to get a wireless router. Make sure you enable the security properly on your wireless router. I can’t tell you how many people do enable security, but I can still break into their wireless if I wanted to. You should use WPA2 authentication.

A much simpler technology to setup is powerline. You don’t have to worry about the security issues that wireless has. Check it out at http://www.cnet.com/4520-7390_1-6274537-3.html?tag=tab

Hey there,

No matter how bad the economy gets, everyone will still use some sort of telecom service. Earn residual income and weather economic storms by marketing services everyone already uses (phone, Internet,Wireless,Satellite TV), and cutting edge technology that will be in millions of households over the next few years (digital phone service-VoIP).

We missed out on other great innovations (that we now take for granted) such as the automobile, telephone, radio, television, computer, and even the Internet. Definitely worth checking out!
