Your Questions About The Real Biz

Maria asks…
Where can I get REAL cheap sales force?
I’m starting a new biz but I have a problem. I can’t think of a way to provide proper sales support to my clients, BY PHONE.
I can’t afford to rent an office and hire a full-time OR a part-time sales person to answer the calls. I myself am NOT a very good sales person when talking on the phone AND, even india outsoucing option is a over the budget for me.
Was thinking about scheduling call-back services for clients and hire someone to do the calls HOWEVER, different clients have different “preferred time for calling”.
Is there any smart way to get around this? WIll I lose clients if I don’t provide phone sales support? Do I have any other options?

Jere answers:
Hi,
I understand your problems, and I’m glad to say you have a few really good and cheap options:
1) Interns. College aged students can work with you for usually as low as 15 hours a week, and provide you a free workforce. It requires you train them like you would to most employees, but it’s free of cost.
2) Outsource. Find some cheap foreigners who are looking for work and pay them much less than the US minimum wage. Post your job offering on sites that provide jobs to these foreign countries
Best of luck! Feel free to contact me if you need extra help.

Chris asks…
How do i get my foot in the for, in the Movie Biz?
I have moved to California recently, and i have always done theater and plays since i was a child, well since i moved here (not to become and actress) i have decided to dabble in the acting world knowing it will be hard but i am still willing to try. How do you find the real stuff, i know it could be filled already but where should you look so you don’t get scammed? Or living just a pipe dream and looking at junk casting calls, i know its hard to know but what would be the best direction?

Jere answers:
Get an agent. You will need one.

Daniel asks…
How long does an employer have to inform you of the business’s closure?
I just found out that the business my friend works at (through a real estate website) is going to close in about a month and the owner hasn’t told her yet. When does he have to tell his employees that his business is shutting down, legal wise?

Jere answers:
I’ve seen busiinesses close the doors as employees are coming to work. If your friend sees the “handwriting on the wall” I’d advise friend to look for another job ASAP,”
Another way to put this is: If a biz owner knows he’s going down the tubes, but is trying his best to keep it open, he really doesn’t have much option but to keep it open as long as possible.
I’ve also seen businesses that have gone belly up where the employees needed the jobs and have volunteered to MAKE the business succeed at all costs. They got profit sharing and owner was more than willing to let them ‘make it work’.
Owner just might be willing – or open – to letting the employees keep it running.
Good Luck
