Yes, it’s a scam. I am NOT a finance/accounting major and received the same email. A large company will not recruit employees in this manner and would not use a gmail account. Mine was from piter.herrick@gmail.com. Also, a large company would not state that this position requires a HS diploma, but that a college degree is a plus. Most large companies expect a college degree so unless you are working an internship partnered with your school and are A) excelling in school and B) excelling in your internship, this type of offer would not be common. The other possibility of this type of job offer without a degree is that you are already employed by a company and have demonstrated outstanding performance and capability on the job.
You should cease communication; they are probably looking for your personal information…i.e. Social security number, birth date, name…information to steal your identity. You say they haven’t asked…yet, but that will come when they “determine” you are their ideal candidate and want to “finalize” your application.

Joseph asks…
I’m a ‘spa coordinator” at a amazing Day Spa in Orange County CA, but besides my receptionist duties, I’m also helping out (as much as I can) with any promotional ideas, marketing, & a little advertising.
We already do a lot of different things but I’d love to hear what specific techniques, or ideas would make you or anyone come back to a spa.
What are you looking for? What would be the cherry on top that really made the sunday (so to speak lol)
Here’s what we have already…
– a website inessencedayspa.com
– we send out flyers with promotional prices
– we send monthly emails with different deals
– we have 30min free GC we give away to clients, businesses, and homes
– “new guest specials” (discounted services for 1st-timers)
– a rewards cards where you refer people, write a review online, sign up for the membership, etc & recieve a certain number of pts for each thing & ultimately get a free hour massage or facial
– last but not least we have above average customer appreciation and service. we always put our clients first (which is the most important in my oppinion)
….but somehow we’re still not reaching our goals
I’d love some ideas of more specific things; maybe what someone you go to does to make you want to return! Or a spa that did something different & suprising in a good way…

I feel your pain! Lol i run my own massage business from a gym and sometimes feel the crunch of a slow day. Here are a few things i do to drum up business:
when it’s slow, ask the techs (if you force them to do it, they just won’t provide a good service) if anyone is interested in giving mini services for free to promote themselves. Like nail techs can do hand massages, estheticians can do paraffin dips, massage therapists can do chair massages, stylists can do a blow out. Make sure the tech has business cards with their names so they can give it to the client and say, “if you enjoyed that service, please come back and see me and i’ll give you 10% off your first service with me”. You’ll be surprised. I do free chair massages once a week for 2 hours and get a lot of new business this way.
Another idea is to create a “last minute appt” e-mail list. I have people on a list and whenever i have a cancellation or any openings in my day, i send them an e-mail first thing in the morning and let them know that i have the following openings and if they book a slot i’ll give them 20% off. That works wonders!
Finally, try doing an open house on the spas closed day. Invite your regulars and have them bring a friend or 2. Offer light ppetizers and refreshments. Have the staff perform the mini services and talk to the potential clients. Finally raffle off a GC (whatever amount you want), one for existing clients and one for the potential clients.
Hope these tips help and good luck!!!

100% scam.
There is no job.
There is only a scammer trying to steal your hard-earned money.
The next email will be from another of the scammer’s fake names and free email addresses pretending to be the “secretary/assistant/accountant” and will demand you cash a large fake check sent on a stolen UPS/FedEx billing account number and send most of the “money” via Western Union or moneygram back to the scammer posing as the “supply company” while you “keep” a small portion. When your bank realizes the check is fake and it bounces, you get the real life job of paying back the bank for the bounced check fees and all the bank’s money you sent to an overseas criminal.
Western Union and moneygram do not verify anything on the form the sender fills out, not the name, not the street address, not the country, not even the gender of the receiver, it all means absolutely nothing. The clerk will not bother to check ID and will simply hand off your cash to whomever walks in the door with the MTCN# and question/answer. Neither company will tell the sender who picked up the cash, at what store location or even in what country your money walked out the door. Neither company has any kind of refund policy, money sent is money gone forever.
When you refuse to send him your cash he will send increasingly nasty and rude emails trying to convince you to go through with his scam. The scammer could also create another fake name and email address like “FBI@ gmail.com”, “police_person @hotmail.com” or “investigator @yahoo.com” and send emails telling you the job is legit and you must cash the fake check and send your money to the scammer or you will face legal action. Just ignore, delete and block those email addresses. Although, reading a scammer’s attempt at impersonating a law enforcement official can be extremely funny.
Now that you have responded to a scammer, you are on his ‘potential sucker’ list, he will try again to separate you from your cash. He will send you more emails from his other free email addresses using another of his fake names with all kinds of stories of great jobs, lottery winnings, millions in the bank and desperate, lonely, sexy singles. He will sell your email address to all his scamming buddies who will also send you dozens of fake emails all with the exact same goal, you sending them your cash via Western Union or moneygram.
You could post up the email address and the emails themselves that the scammer is using, it will help make your post more googlable for other suspicious potential victims to find when looking for information.
Do you know how to check the header of a received email? If not, you could google for information. Being able to read the header to determine the geographic location an email originated from will help you weed out the most obvious scams and scammers. Then delete and block that scammer. Don’t bother to tell him that you know he is a scammer, it isn’t worth your effort. He has one job in life, convincing victims to send him their hard-earned cash.
Whenever suspicious or just plain curious, google everything, website addresses, names used, companies mentioned, phone numbers given, all email addresses, even sentences from the emails as you might be unpleasantly surprised at what you find already posted online. You can also post/ask here and every scam-warner-anti-fraud-busting site you can find before taking a chance and losing money to a scammer.
6 “Rules to follow” to avoid most fake jobs:
1) Job asks you to use your personal bank account and/or open a new one.
2) Job asks you to print/mail/cash a check or money order.
3) Job asks you to use Western Union or moneygram in any capacity.
4) Job asks you to accept packages and re-ship them on to anyone.
5) Job asks you to pay visas, travel fees via Western Union or moneygram.
6) Job asks you to sign up for a credit reporting or identity verification site.
Avoiding all jobs that mention any of the above listed ‘red flags’ and you will miss nearly all fake jobs. Only scammers ask you to do any of the above. No. Exceptions. Ever. For any reason.
If you google “fake check cashing job”, “fraud Western Union scam”, “check mule moneygram scam” or something similar you will find hundreds of posts from victims and near-victims of this type of scam.

I have written an 80 000 word crime novel. I have reviewed it properly, and it is quite good. Are there any publishers that would accept submissions(preferably by email) unsolicited?(in US) Please don’t tell me go to writers market. Otherwise, what would be the best and quickest way?

Xlibris Publishing, they will be happy to help you. They are a division of Random house publishing and I have had recent dealings with them, they’re internationally based. I would suggest them over anyone, you don’t need an agent all you need to do is write the book and be able to invest some money. You’ll get a book published in no time flat. Go to the website and there will be prompts for whatever type of book you want published, they’ll ask for an email, they’ll email you soon after. For me it was just under a week.

I need a smart phone similar to Nokia 5800 but confused by reviews of loads of products in the market. I need phone with some good media facilities – especially music and video – a large screen, push emails and preferably Turkish language option. Any suggestions?
Thanks

You can get a nokia 5530 which is similar to the nokia 5800 but a cheaper option. There are loads of new samsung alternatives in the market too, you can get the samsung jet, samsung tocco lite. These have all good media facilities of music and video and watching video on the big touch screens is a huge advantage. Nokia have also the X6, the 5239 and these are all excellent phones. You will have to check with the place you are going to buy from whether the phone will have a turkish option or not as it depends on where the phones are made.

William asks…
in december 2003, Boeing announced it would go ahead with the development of its latest commercial jetliner, the 7E7, which Boeing will position against Airbus’s popular A330 aircraft. The “E” in the Boeing 7E7 stands for ‘efficient.’ By making extensive use of new composite and engine technology, Boeing hopes to reduce the aircraft’s operating costs by as much as 20 percent compared to a traditional design. If it is successful, this will make the plane a potent competitor against the best-selling A330. however, the 7E7, now renamed the 787, is a risky project for Boeing. The aircraft will cost about $7 billion to develop, according to industry estimates, and demand is uncertain. To share the costs and risks of development Boeing has taken on several partners who will help to design and build the 787. Most important among these are a trio of three Japanese companies, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Kawasaki Heavy Industries, and Fuji Heavy Industries. Collectively, these three companies will probably build as much as 35 percent of the 787 by value, including parts of the fuselage, wings, and landing gear. They will ship the finished components to everett, Washington, for final assembly. These three companies are longtime Boeing partners. They contributed about 21 percent by value to Boeing’s last new jetliner, the Boeing 777. Although there has been a long history of development subsidies in the commercial aerospace industry, a 1992 agreement between Boeing and Airbus limits the state aid either company can get from their respective governments. Airbus, now a private company, is limited to repayable launch aid that must not exceed one-third of the development costs of a new aircraft. The launch aid has to be repaid only if aircraft sales are high enough for Airbus to turn a profit on the investment in a new plane. As for Boeing, indirect aid from U.S. government agencies such as R&D contracts from the Pentagon and NASA are capped at 4 percent of its total revenues. It is unclear if the 1992 agreement extends to other parties in the projects. The Japenese Aircraft Development Corporation, an association of Japanese aircraft makers, has asked the Japanese government for help with the 787 project. The country’s Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry has submitted a budget request that would make the 787 a “national project. Newspaper reports put the request at about $1.5 billion. Upon hearing this, Airbus officials were quick to claim that the arrangement could violate several international agreements, including a 1994 WTO prohibition against subsidies that can harm competitors. Behind the scenes, Airbus executives started to urge the European Union to look at the issue and possibly file a case on their behalf. They also noted that Boeing received aid from the states of Washington and Kansas, where its factories are located, and that also constitutes an unfair subsidy that was outside the scope of the 1992 agreement. In mid-2004, the issue became even more contentious when the u.s. government demanded an end to airbus’s launch aid. airbus had already been granted lans of 3.7 billion to develop its latest aircraft, the A380 super-jumbo, but what really got attention in america were signs from airbus that it would also build a direct competitor to the 787, the A350, and ask for launch aid to help cover the development costs of that plane. Estimates suggested the lunch aid for the A350 could total $1.3 billion. furthermore, in 2004 airbus surpassed boeing in global market share. American officials felt that given the strength of the company, subsidies were no longer appropriate. In late 2004, the EU and U.S. government entered into negotiations to try to resolve the dispute, but talks ended in March 2005 with no agreement. The dispute now goes to the World Trade Organization, which must rule on the legality of the various subsidies. Meanwhile, Boeing is starting to pile up orders for the 787, and industry observers speculate that the longer launch aid for an airbus competitor is stalled in legal limbo, the less likely Airbus will be to go ahead with the plane.

Well, its obvious that subsidies go down as a company gets stronger. And if they are gaining market share, then they are getting stronger. So, their subsidies will go down. And these subsidies could eventually become nothing. But, lets say that they gained market shares. And the government thought that it would be good for the economy and for efficiency of fuel, money, etc etc. If the government wanted to, they could give a subsidy. But, this of course has to take place after they figure out if they are allowed to or not. And, if it was such a good plan to develop these new technologies, and they are gaining market share, the government would not give a subsidy. Mostly due to the fact that, even without a subsidy, these companies would go ahead and develop these new planes anyways…So, the government would not have to dish out money. If these companies were short of money, they would borrow from banks or ask their partners to try to give more to help develop these projects.

REFERENCES: Will furnish up on request

Objective- it is okay, yet ordinary.
Education- put the clinical hours of the two hospitals you were in and sorry to say this does not count as your professional experience at all because you are still a student so if something goes wrong, whoever is responsible for you gets the boot, eg: clinical instructor, tech so their licenses are on the line but you’ll only get a slap in the wrist compared to them. If you have room, put the type of machines you were using. PUT the date when you begun the program and end the program in nm program and your sales program. Put “Eligible for the blah blah registry exam and when will you be able to take it” and also “Eligible for the State license if it is applicable to your state regulations.”
Licenses- fine. When you pass your registry and attain ur state license if applicable, put it here.
Experience-unfortunately like I said clinical education does not count due to the reason I just said. Do you have any at all that relates to your occupation like EMT, transporter, have you ever worked in a hospital or with people period. If anything, put the work experience, what you had before. DON’T PUT IT ALL BECAUSE YOU MUST MAKE YOUR RESUME TO A PAGE ONLY! One little note, DONT MAKE SENTENCES, MAKE FRAGMENTS WITH IMPORTANT VERBS THAT ARE UNDERSTANDABLE. It seems your work experience deal with different t ypes of peole so put it but remember A PAGE OF A RESUME. So leave things out if you have to. Either way you do have zero experience in the field like any graduate does in the nm program unless you worked in the health field before as a blah blah, then say that, eg: RN, RT(R), RTR, etc.
Skills: where is it? Do you speak any other language, are you good with computers? , are you competent with venipuncture? Here’s this one you can use from me:
Able to adapt to any environment when necessary.
Advices: dont make sentences again, make good fragments with verbs that stand out. Use bulletins and make everything aligned.
Good luck. By the way do any means necessary to find a job, intern, know people, network, know other modalities (MR, x ray, CT scan and get registered).

That FIFA president Blatter was accused of corruption back in 1998 or 2002….
Sepp Blatter’s 1998 election to the presidency of FIFA over UEFA President Lennart Johansson occurred amidst much controversy. His 2002 candidacy has been marked with rumours of financial irregularities and backroom dealings, culminating with direct accusations of bribery, by a third party, made in the British press by the Farra Ado, vice-president of the CAF and president of the Somalian football association, who claimed to have been offered $100,000 to vote for Blatter in 1998.
Amidst internal divisions ,FIFA’s secretary-general Blatter’s deputy and former protégé, Michel Zen-Ruffinen drew up a 30-page dossier outlining allegations of financial mismanagement within the organisation. The dossier alleged that the collapse of FIFA’s marketing partner ISL had led to losses of up to $100m under Blatter’s management. The allegations were backed by Johansson, and the dossier was handed to the Swiss authorities, but they cleared him of any wrong doing and FIFA had to pay all the costs. An internal investigation within FIFA was halted by Blatter because members of it broke confidentiality agreements.
Could this include last year’s CL semi-final between Chelsea and Barcelona ?
And… becasue he is a “Knight of the French Legion of Honour” he didn’t do anything to replay a match between France
and Ireland…is he making football by his favorites?

Yeah! I think so because of the uncalled penalties.

What’s Really for Dinner?
The Truth About Commercial Pet Food, by Tina Perry
Cow brains. Sheep guts. Chicken heads. Road kill. Rancid grain. These are a few of the so-called nutritionally balanced ingredients found in the commercial pet food served to companion animals every day.
More than 95 percent of US companion animals derive their nutritional needs from a single source: processed pet food. When people think of pet food, many envision whole chickens, choice cuts of beef, fresh grains, and all the nutrition that a dog or cat may ever need — images that pet food manufacturers promote in their advertisements. What these companies do not reveal is that instead of whole chickens they have substituted chicken heads, feet, and intestines. Those choice cuts of beef are really cow brains, tongues, esophagi, fetal tissue dangerously high in hormones, and possibly diseased and even cancerous meat. Those whole grains have had the starch removed for corn starch powder and the oil extracted for corn oil, or they are hulls and other remnants from the milling process. Grains used that are truly whole have usually been deemed unfit for human consumption because of mold, contaminants, poor quality, or poor handling practices. Pet food is one of the world’s most synthetic edible products, containing virtually no whole ingredients.
Pet food manufacturers have become masters at inducing companion animals to eat things cat and dogs would normally spurn. Pet food scientists have learned that it’s possible to take a mixture of inedible scraps, fortify it with artificial vitamins and minerals, preserve it so that it can sit on the shelf for more than a year, add dyes to make it attractive, and then extrude it into whimsical shapes that appeal to the human consumer. For this, pet food companies can expect to earn $9 billion in sales in 1996.
Scraps and Byproducts For years, many care givers have tried to avoid feeding their companion animals people food leftovers, having been warned by veterinarians about the heath problems they can cause. Yet much scrap material from the human food industry is ending up in dogs and cat’s dinner bowls. What the consumer purchases and what the manufacturer advertises are often two entirely different products, and this difference threatens the animals healthy, especially as they age. Learning to read ingredient labels and taking the time to read them carefully is crucial to making an educated choice when purchasing pet food. Ingredients are listed in descending order of weight (heaviest first) under standards established by the Center for Veterinary Medicine for the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The name of the product (in most states) is dictated by the regulations of the American Association of Feed Control Officials (AAFCO). The trouble is, AAFCO standards can lead to deceptive product names due to the weight and volume variations between wet and dry ingredients. Also, the average consumer has no idea what the definitions for the listed ingredients mean. Preservatives, vitamins, minerals, flavorings, and cereal make up most of what the companion animal eats.
It is not happenstance that four of the top five major pet food companies in the United States are subsidiaries of major multinational food production companies: Colgate Palmolive (which produces Hills Science Diet), Heinz, Nestle, and Mars )see The Corporate Connection). From a business standpoint, multi-national food companies owning pet food manufacturers is an ideal relationship. The multinationals have captive market in which to dump their waste products, and the pet food manufacturers have a direct source of bulk materials. Both make a profit from selling scraps that originate from places far worse than the dinner table. In his 1986 book Pet Allergies veterinarian Al Plechner sums up what goes into companion animals food: Condemned parts and animals rejected for human consumption are routinely rerouted for commercial pet foods. A similar fate applies to so-called 4-D animals. These are food animals picked up dead, or that are dying, diseased, or disabled, and do not meet human-food qualifications. They are processed straightaway for companion animal consumption. Little goes to waste. Says Plechner, Food processing refuse of all sorts winds up in your animals dinner bowls. Moldy grains. Rancid foods. Meat meal. The latter is ground-up slaughterhouse discards often containing disease-ridden tissue and high levels of hormones and pesticides, the very things that may have contributed to the death of the steer or hog. A decade later, his words still apply. When cattle, swine, chickens, lambs, or other animals meet their ends at a slaughterhouse, the choice cuts — lean muscle tissue and organs prized by humans — are trimmed away from the carcass for human consumption. Whatever remains of the carcass (bones, blood, pus, intestines, ligaments, subcutaneous fat, hooves, horns, beaks, and
any other parts not normally consumed by humans) is, according to the pet food industry, perfectly fit as a protein source for cat and dog food.
The Pet Food Institute, the trade association of pet food manufacturers, acknowledges in its 1994 Fact Sheet the importance of using byproducts in pet foods as additional income for processors and farmers. The purchase and use of these ingredients by the pet food industry not only provides nutritional foods for pets at reasonable costs, but provides an important source of income to American farmers and processors of meat, poultry, and seafood products for human consumption. Many of these remnants are indigestible and provide a questionable source of nutrition. The amount of nutrition provided by meat byproducts, meals, and digests varies from vat to vat of this animal protein soup. A vat filled with chicken feet, beaks, and viscera is going to make available a lower amount of protein than a vat of breast meat. James Morris and Quinton Rogers, professors with Department of Molecular Biosciences at the University of California at Davis Veterinary School of Medicine, assert that there is virtually no information on the bio-availability of nutrients for companion animals in many of the common dietary ingredients used in pet foods. These ingredients are generally byproducts of the meat, poultry and fishing industries, with the potential for wide variation in nutrient composition. Claims of nutritional adequacy of pet foods based on the current AAFCO nutrient allowances (profiles) do not give assurances of nutritional adequacy and will not until ingredients are analyzed and bioavailability values are incorporated. Meat byproducts, the catch-all term of the pet food industry, is a misnomer because these byproducts contain little if any meat. Byproducts contain little if any meat. Byproduct are animal parts leftover after the meat has been stripped from the bone. Chicken byproducts include heads, feet, entrails, lungs, spleens, kidneys, brains, livers, stomachs, noses, blood, and intestines free of their contents. What the pet food manufactures fail to mention is that most byproducts, digests and meals are also filled with other substances, such as cancerous tissue cut from the carcass, plastic foam packaging containing spoiled meat from supermarkets, ear tags, spoiled slaughterhouse meat, road kill, and pieces of downer animals.
Canned Cannibalism Another source of meat that isn’t mentioned on pet food labels is pet byproducts, the bodies of dogs and cats. In 1990 the San Francisco Chronicle reported that euthanized companion animals were found in pet foods. Although pet food company executives and the National Renderers Association vehemently denied the report, the American Veterinary Medical Association and the FDA confirmed the story. The pets serve a viable purpose by providing foodstuff for the animal feed chain, said Lea McGovern, chief of the FDA’s animal feed safety branch. Because of the sheer volume of animals rendered and the similarity in protein content between poultry byproducts and processed dogs and cats, rendering plant workers say it would be impossible for purchasers to know the exact contents of what they buy. In fact, Sacramento Rendering cited by inspectors five times in the past two years for product-labeling violations.
Grease and Grain
The most nutritious dry pet food is no better than the worst if animals will not eat it. Pet food scientists have discovered that spraying the kibble or pellets with a combination of refined animal fat, lard, kitchen grease, and other oils too rancid or deemed inedible for humans makes an otherwise bland or distasteful product palatable. Animal fat is mainly packing house waste or supermarket trimmings from the packaging of meats. Animals love the taste of this sprayed fat, which also acts as a binding agent to which manufacturers may add other flavor enhancers. The pungent odor wafting from an open bag of pet food is created by this concoction. Restaurant grease has become a major component of feed-grade animal fat over the last 15 years. Often held in 50-gallon drums for weeks or months in extreme temperatures, this grease is usually kelp outside with no regard for its safety or further use. The rancid grease is then picked up by fat blenders who mix the animal and vegetable fats together, stabilize them with powerful antioxidants to prevent further spoilage, and then sell the blended products to pet food companies. Rancid, heavily preserved fats are extremely difficult to digest and can lead to a host of animal health problems, including digestive upsets, diarrhea, gas, and bad breath. Once considered filler by the pet food industry, the amount of grain products included in pet food has risen over the last decade as the American population has focused its attention away from consuming beef and toward a healthier diet of grains and vegetables. Commonly two of the top three pet food ingredients are some form of grain products. For instance, Alpo’s Beef Flavored Dinner lists ground yellow corn, soybean meal, and poultry byproduct meal as its top three ingredients. 9 Lives Crunchy Meals lists ground yellow corn, corn gluten meal, and poultry byproduct meal as its top three ingredients. Of the top four ingredients of Purina’s O.N.E. Dog Formula — chicken, ground yellow corn, ground wheat, and corn gluten meal — two are corn-based products from the same source. This is an industry practice known as splitting. When components of the same whole ingredient are listed separately (ground yellow corn and corn gluten meal) it appears that
there is less corn than chicken, even when the whole ingredient may weigh more than the chicken. Soy is another common ingredient in many pet foods. It is used by the manufacturers to boost the claimed protein content and add bulk so that when animals eat a product containing soy they will fell more sated. Tofu is suitable for humans, but most forms of soybean do not agree with a dog or cat’s digestive system. Like many other pet food ingredients, soy is virtually unusable by an animal’s body. Being obligate carnivores, cats have little ability to digest any nutrients from soy. The problem is worse for dogs because they lack the essential amino acid to digest soy products. Soy has also been linked to bloat and gas in many dogs.
Additives and Processing
Pet food industry critics note that many of the ingredients (such as corn syrup and corn gluten meal) used as humectants to prevent oxidation also bind water molecules in such a way that the food actually sticks to the animal’s colon and may cause blockage. Blockage of the colon may cause an increased risk of cancer of the colon or rectum. Two-thirds of the pet food manufactured in the United States contains synthetic preservatives added by the manufacturer. Of the remaining third, 90 percent includes ingredients already stabilized by synthetic preservatives. Because most pet food contains large percentages of added fat, a stabilizer is needed to maintain the quality of the food. Sodium nitrite, often used as a coloring agent, fixative, and preservative, has the ability to combine with natural stomach and food chemicals (secondary amends) to create nitrosamines, powerful cancer-causing agents, according to A Consumer’s Dictionary of Food Additives.
Many pet foods advertised as preservative-free do not contain preservatives. Almost all rendered meats have synthetic preservatives added as stabilizer, but manufacturers aren’t required to list preservatives they themselves haven’t added. Premixed vitamin additives can also contain preservatives. In the 1003 Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association, veterinarian Philip Roudebush reported finding low concentrations of synthetic antioxidant preservatives in all analyzed samples of products labeled as chemical free or all-natural. Other types of additives depend on whether the pet food is semi-moist, dry or canned. Because semi-moist food contains 25-50 percent water, antimicrobial preservatives must be used. Propylene glycol was frequently used in cat food until it was pulled in 1992 for causing a variety of health problems. Processing greatly alters the nutritional value of the food ingredients. Veterinarian R. L. Wysong states in Rationale for Animal Nutrition: Processing is the wild card in nutritional value that is, by and large, simply ignored. Heating, freezing, dehydrating, canning, extruding, pelleting, baking and so forth, are so commonplace that they are simply thought of as synonymous with food itself. Because the ingredients that pet food companies use are not wholesome, and harsh manufacturing practices destroy what little nutritional value the food may have had in the first place, the final product must be fortified with vitamins and minerals.
Questionable Nutrition
How, then, can any pet food be guaranteed to be 100 percent complete or nutritionally adequate? As long as it meets the AAFCO minimum standards, such a guarantee can be on the label. Yet in 1994, feed tests conducted by the New York State Agriculture Department showed 7 percent of all pet foods analyzed failed chemical analyses for guaranteed nutrients. Other states report similar findings, with failure of analyzed feed ranging from to 12 percent. Even if a pet food meets AAFCO standards, certain nutritional requirements (for example, lysine) can vary between species by as much as seven-fold. Although manufacturers clam that millions of companion animals can thrive on a diet consisting of nothing by commercial pet food, research and an increasing number of veterinarians implicate processed pet food as a source of disease or as an exacerbating agent for a number of degenerative diseases. For example, kidney disease is on of the top three killers of companion animals. According to Plechner, the extra protein and harsh ingredients of many pet foods place an overload on the kidneys. Left untreated, the toxic buildup leads to vomiting, loss of appetite, uremic poisoning, and death. Wysong adds, In the last few years, large statistical studies have shown the link between the diet (of processed foods) and a variety of degenerative diseases, including cancer, heart disease, allergies, arthritis, obesity, dental disease, etc. After extensive research, the Animal Protection Institute (API) published a Pet Food Investigative Report to educate companion animal care givers about pet food ingredients, ingredient definitions, labeling, and dietary ailments resulting from processed commercial pet food, including the most commonly know brands. Yet, whether such food is purchased at the supermarket, pet store, or from a veterinarian, it makes little difference in terms of the quality — only in the cost. Since the report was published earlier this year, API has conducted more research on holistic pet care and pet food alternatives, but still claims that the vast majority of pet foods available on the market today provide less that optimum nutrition for companion animals.
It is sad to think that the food provided by animal care givers to their four-legged friends could be hazardous to the animals’; health and longevity. Care givers should assume responsibility for providing as healthful a diet as possible for the animals in the care. Consumers should be informed: speak with a holistic practitioner or herbalist, or consult your veterinarian (but be aware that a veterinarian’s knowledge of nutrition may be limited to the two weeks of nutrition he or she had veterinary school 20 years ago). Although the ideal solution would be for companion animals to be fed only wholesome homemade and/or vegetarian diets, this is not an optician for everyone — the cost and time commitment is sometimes prohibitive. By taking more moderate steps, however, care givers can still greatly improve companion animals’ diet and quality of life.
EDIT: On Carin Rennings page she lists recommended diets… she really researched them and its really helpful….go check it out..smile
EDIT EDIT: sorry but it is still happening to the person that said its not… when I did my research I asked around and found out that the people that picked up the dead pets from the vets offices that did not want a private creamation actually had a company come in and pick the bodies up…really sick…valley protien I think was the name of the company…
I am not just trying to “SCARE” people …here is more proof….read this article JUST WRITTEN!! and see for yourself whats in your pet foods!!
http://www.petfoodreport.com/aboutpetfood.htm#ingredients
Edit: as far as ill timing and such… I think its just the right time!! people need to open their eyes…so sorry you 2 feel that way…smile

Thanks for the research and letting others see it. Those who are new pet owners should know about it, if they don’t already.

– All of them were allies at some point before World War I.
Of all the countries mentioned above, I think only Serbia and Russia didn’t have OFFICIAL alliance, so the only possible answer is that one (if the answer ‘none of the above’ is unavailable). Read on for more details.
– Serbia and Russia – had numerous alliances, mainly aimed against the Ottoman Empire.

Considering two places to move in California – Sacramento and San Diego suburbs
Desired Criteria:
Much shops, restaurants, and businesses
Nice looking buildings
Mostly moderate or liberal
I have heard online that Sacramento (perhaps only referring to city) is both dull and not mostly residential (not much businesses?). I have also seen some pics and videos online indicating that the Sacramento suburbs (not city) might be genarly more attractive in terms of business architecture (shops, restruants, businesses).
PS: please keep in mind I am only refering to the suburbun areas not the city
Thanks a lot Califonians! – I am a native from Michigan

My daughter moved to San Diego after college, and loves the ambiance there. Just be aware that San Diego is a very politically conservative area, which contrasts to the Sacramento area.
If you want shops, building, businesses, etc, look at Elk Grove, Folsom, or Roseville, all “suburbs” of Sacramento.
BTW, my brother went to MState and found it to be much, much colder than most places in California.

Chris asks…
I live in San Diego, California. I am so frustrated that I cannot find anywhere to simply submit information online to a government agency regarding my employers’ unfair business practices. I can’t even post my information at the Better Business Bureau. It’s only for consumers… And the only resource I found under the list of State Agencies thus far is the Department of Fair Employment and Housing but I have to supposedly go through a lengthy complaint process that begins with an in-person interview: http://www.dfeh.ca.gov/complaintEmployment.asp
I simply desire to report that an employer of mine, Attack Marketing, refuses to abide by our contractual agreement of paying 3-6 weeks after completion of work as promised, but are routinely paying over and beyond 13 weeks after completion of work.

Are you sure in the contract there isn’t a provision for you being paid when the job is paid if it is marketing for outside companies which trumps the 3-6 week provision?
If not, you will have to go through fair employment – I realize it is a pain, but the reason for it is due to a lot of disgruntled employees that try to make claims that aren’t true – the lengthy process weeds them out.

Daniel asks…
I am currently 21 years old and am going to graduate college by this fall (finishing online) with a degree in International Business. I have absolutely no student debt and a decent enough car to get me to California. My aunt is going to let me stay with her (Riverside, CA) while I look for a job and get myself situated and finish school. I was born in San Diego and lived in Corona until I was 14 years old. I now live in Evansville, IN. I miss it and do not have anything keeping me here.
Do you think this is a possible endeavor? I have about $1000 saved which isn’t much but I have several months to continue to save. I am hoping to move around April and finish my schooling while I work. I am extremely aggressive when it comes to finding a job, and even in this economy, I haven’t ever found it to be impossible to find a job.
Just hoped to get some insight from some older, probably much wiser individuals. Thanks!

Riverside has very high unemployment.
The low rate is San Francisco bay area, orange county and San Diego, try those 3 places.

Sandy asks…
Anyone in Las Vegas familiar with the term mobbing or organized gang stalking?
I would like to know if there are any anti mobbing/gang stalking organization in Las Vegas, because I am being mobbed/gang stalked in Las Vegas and you will never believe by who.
I am looking for others who have experienced this and want to join a anti stalking group. (There is power in numbers, so lets get together and do something about!)
I am also a victim of COINTELPRO. In case some of you don’t know what that is I have provide videos on the subject.
Cointelpro:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mwlf9aU8uv0&NR=1
Don’t be afraid to come out of the closet, your not alone! I have been a victim of this crime for 12+ years, and it hasn’t stopped since even through I have moved to several cities.
I moved to Las Vegas 21 months after being stalked/slandered/mobbed out of a previous city where used to lived (quietly I must say) and now its happening here under the same circumstances!
I am being slandered all over the city by Las Vegas by the Las Vegas Police who are FALSELY accusing me of slandering the city of Las Vegas and Firemen, and heinously ugly, a slut, having little droopy boobs, being a serial killer and other slanderous things about me if I don’t meet the demands of what is called casting lots (SIGNS) that they themselves have set up to frame me with to convince the public of these lies about me, because of the public’s own depraved state.
A tactic that the San Diego Police and Fire Dept used in San Diego when I lived there almost two years ago where I was stalked and slandered daily and out of that city by the San Diego PD and FD who were falsely accusing me of slandering the city of San Diego and trying to destroy the city and Firemen and many other lies about me, too long to write here, by appealing to the depraved stated of the people there, telling them things like I am the heinously ugliest women that ever lived and that everybody is better looking than me and are a god. The same tactic LVPD is using in this city, stirring up the public in it. I assure this has to do with Police jealousy of me.
In other words they covet and want my stuff (good looks and status) that they don’t have and want badly. If you think this is ludicrous, I challenged you to go to the Bonneville Transit Center and ride the city buses, esp rout 209 and 113 and ask the passengers about the women with the black and white head scarf that wears sunglasses. The bus drivers are told by the LVPD to tell the bus passengers lies about me that are shocking. Now the LVPD is going about the city slandering ME to business all over town.
I need people to get on these buses and report your findings to The Police Complaint Center online, and tell them this has to do with the Steve Martinez case. Stop this police and public corruption going on all over this city. Thank you.
I believe the only way to stop it, is to expose it! I will work in your behalf and you can work in my behalf to exposing this crime!
Feel free to contact me. Thank you.

Sorry to hear this. This is a degenerate age obviously!

Paul asks…
My dog went missing from my San Diego house 4 days ago while I was out of town on business. I had my friend watching my house and my two dogs. She said that when she went to bed, both dogs were inside in their beds and when she awoke, one of them was gone (my 12lb boston terrier baby). We have a dog door so they can go in and out as they please and we usually close it at night because they have been known to bark and bother the neighbors, but i guess we failed to mention this to our house sitter. The neighbors said they heard coyotes close by and that they heard our dogs barking and crying in the night. I have put up fliers in my neighborhood, hiked through the canyon that backs up to my house for hours searching for evidence (didn’t find any), called every vet, shelter and clinic within 25 miles, spammed craigslist and other online lost dog sites, and checked the shelter in person and online every few hours. I miss my dog so much that of course I like to hope that he is still alive and that someone just stole him out of my yard (I filed a police report), but I feel like deep down I know he is gone and all of these dead end attempts to find out what happened to him are just torturing me. I called the park rangers that work the canyon and asked them to keep an eye for his collar or his body, but it is a large, dangerous canyon for such a little dog. My husband has already just assumed that he is dead and given up on really trying to find him and I think he wants me to do the same and just accept the loss for what it is, but I’m really distraught. I want to start the process of moving on, but because I have no idea what happened to my Romeo, it feels wrong. Thoughts?

I am so very sorry for what appears to be a loss for you. I have a feeling you are right and the coyotes may have gotten your pup. I don’t know how to go on from something like that. I know you’ll have to and you will but I think the not knowing is so awful. It seems you have done absolutely everything you can and if he is found, I’m sure he will find you. I don’t think I would ever stop looking. I just hope you can heal. Take your time accepting it, the grieving process is hard when you have something to grieve over.
I hope Romeo comes home. I hope you can heal if he doesn’t. Again, I’m so sorry for your loss.

Anytime someone go to the internet businesses online how do they get paid and who pay them?

For internet business, a common income is from advertisement, company will pay web sites for advertisement.
There’s a referral model as well, for example, if u click abc.com from google, then abc.com will google, it’s like commission
for retail store like amazon, they gain income from selling products as well
for search engine, they generate income from selling their web sites info, like yahoo has 1 million web sites registering with them (meaning those web sites can be searched in yahoo), and search engine z has only 0.2million web sites, z company will buy those web sites info form yahoo and paying for this

Jenny asks…
There are several knowledge on how to make or create your own internet business via affiliates programs and selling which i did not understand how . I need a direct-to-point answer how to do that or some example from any website , i need an answer from anyone who been in this business .

Mark asks…
It also asks, How can your business can take advantage of economies of scale?
Im so confused what are the fixed and varible costs for a internet business?

Well, regardless of the business model, fixed and variable costs share the same attributes:
Fixed costs are costs that: 1) Are constant or predictable, and 2) You have to pay without regard to your sales/production/etc.
Variable costs are costs that: 1) Are incurred based on your production/sales/etc, such as commissions, raw materials, and the like, and 2) Would not exist unless you produce a product or service, or make a sale which generates these costs.
Your fixed costs would include your Internet connection, website, equipment costs, management salaries (if any), utilities, and fixed advertising (not cost-per-click). Your variable costs would include cost-per-click advertising, commissions, production-based payroll, shipping and postage, etc.
Economies of scale are related to the growth of your business. Basically, the unit cost of something becomes cheaper as you produce more of it. If you are selling a product, you may have a lower cost-per-unit based on greater unit sales (i.e. Price breaks) or you might achieve lower ad rates if your total clicks reach certain breakpoints.
I hope this helps. Good luck!

How would you answer this question?
Cory Dororow states, “Before the radio and the record came along, the only way that people made money from making music was by standing in a hall and being charismatic.” Do you think the business model for professional musicians has changed in the last few decades?

Yes it has with the advent of recording equipment not long after the beginning of the twentieth century, it allowed singers to sell their songs to people who had the money, and wanted a copy of their song, for their own personal listening. As time went on and it became cheaper to produce recordings, it became easier for the average person to buy and have music in their homes. Radio allowed singers to reach a larger audience than they had in the past, with both recorded and live performances. Television opened the way for people to watch first recorded performances, then live ones. Then came eventually the usage licensing of songs that went on to become identified with with certain products. Then the internet allowed singers to reach audiences that they had never reached before allowing people to be “discovered that otherwise might have never been noticed by the music industry.

This is true. You have to have a real bank account for this type of thing. If you don’t have one already, go talk to your bank. If you do, you can feel secure using it for this purpose. I have even set up a “sweep” account with my bank, whereby all money that is deposited to the account is automatically transferred to my “real” account each night. That way I have limited exposure to the risk of an unauthorized withdrawal.

Whatever the job ad asks for.

Call yourself whatever you want, titles only matter within companies.

I thought that this was common in the news biz. That if your source gave you misleading or false information and you catch hell when you run a story based upon it, that you turn around and burn your source and reveal who it was.

Why? What difference would it make?

I think it is just lovely that the White House clowns and their media puppets got caught with what they have been doing for two years. Showing closely edited bits and claiming a distorted meaning.
The latest bit about the “real” Tea Party RACIST what especially great.
Dude at tea party says stuff like “Yeah! I’m a racist and proud of it!” … End of clip.
What was cut off was that he was talking to tea party members who were trying to get him to leave because they didn’t want ‘his kind’ around …. Funny, huh?
.
So the White House clown college bites down on that very same technique and so we get to see what will REALLY happen in DC if there is ever a REAL emergency in this county.
All the clowns come tumbling out of their little car, then scramble to get back in again. Funny.

If you are given one week deadline to make money online, what is your best strategy in achieving it?

I would focus on advertising whatever you are going to sell, I would say that internet sales are a big place to start and that is about all the internet is good for money wise. You could sell some old household items on ebay, or purchase some things from overstock or another bulk location and re-sell them for a profit. The opportunities are endless just put a little thinking into it.

many business are now web based for example blogging and many more. but marketing strategy for physical shops or companies somewhat seem to be different from those that is internet based. so what sort marketing strategy are there for web based?

The problem with most physical shops, well here anyways, are that they know they need a website, they just don’t understand why. They don’t see it as a potentially potent marketing channel, but rather as another consumer touch point.
Having a website isn’t a marketing strategy though, finding targeted website traffic and pulling them to your website is where marketing comes in. The most popular online marketing tools are:
Search Engine Optimization
Search Engine Marketing
Social Media Optimization
Pay Per Click Campaigns
Email Marketing Campaigns
Digital Advertising and Adserving
With any marketing strategy, it is imperative that all tactics employed run systematically. They should compliment each other and speak one clear marketing message, although they might pull consumers from different concerns of the web, they should be designed to work together and this is known as integrated marketing communications, IMC.
All brands should use their conventional above the line and below the line communication strategies, but they should ALSO invest in a digital strategy. Your above the line communication can increase brand awareness, your below the line can get consumers to the point of purchase, and your digital can do both.

I am a 15 year old and I have a potential of $3000 in funding for a business, and I would like to start one on the internet. What kind of website business should I build? What will I need to do this? Thank you!

You should build a website based on something you are interested in. You won’t need much money to do it. In fact it might be best for you to build a blog first. Blogs are free and you will learn a lot about search engine optimization for when you do build your website.
When you build a website you shouldn’t pay more than $10 per year on a domain name, and your web hosting cost should be around $7 per month. Don’t pay more unless you want to get ripped off.
There are several options when it comes to website creation software. If you know a little HTML, you could buy a program (I use Frontpage 2003, and Dreamweaver). If you don’t know HTML, it might be best to start off with Intuit. If you do choose intuit, don’t buy a domain name because it will be included in the package.
To sum up: You just need to build something that you are passionate about. Anything can earn money, but only if you put the required work into it.

I live in New York City “Harlem” and im trying to start a cleaning business “house, apartments.” and i need some advice on how to market it. I opened a Craigslist account but i don’t know exactly what to put in my ad. The name i chose to call it is Maid-In-Harlem. Can anyone help

I would also include a toll free number on your ads. People will be more likely to buy from you because: a) A toll free makes you look more professional and b) It encourages people to call you. I recommend searching for a number at Chooseanumber.com. I’m sure you can find something with “MAID” or “CLEAN” in it. I guarantee it will boost your profile. It worked for me.

I want to start a small business selling gift bags and baskets online and I was wondering how to get started on something like that. Please answer soon. All answers are greatly appreciated 🙂

The most obvious answer and best place to start is to create a website so that you have an online presence. You should be sure to showcase your work on your site, and make sure that it is easy to find in search results. I would also recommend a website hosting service that lets you accept credit cards and other forms of online payments.
You can find all these benefits with Office Live Small Business from Microsoft. This is a free service that lets you make your own professional looking website and host it on their servers for free for the first year. Take a look at the site and dig around to get a feel for all the features, and be sure to check out the gallery so that you can see real functioning websites that use the service.
Good luck with your business!

Helen asks…
Hi there,
My friend has asked me to loan him a fairly large sum of money to help him start a business. Even though I trust him to pay it back, I think I need to cover myself just in case and help to make it clear what the expectations are.
What do I need to look for when creating a loan agreement? Should I write one myself or go through a lawyer? Can I even use an online service? I would appreciate some help!

If you are lending a large sum of money to a friend or even borrowing a large sum of money, I strongly recommend that you get a written loan agreement. As you have stated, it is very important to not only clarify what the expectations are, but also have something signed and in writing that can be enforced in case something goes wrong. What you should also consider is a loan agreement with security.
What happens if your friends business goes under and he has no way of repaying you back? Security means that he provides you rights over his assets in the event that he cannot pay you back.
In terms of how you write your loan agreement, you can either go through a lawyer, which can be expensive, or go through a legal document website. Someone here has already mentioned www.easylegalonline.com which ironically is the site that I used for my loan agreement. I used the following document: http://www.easylegalonline.com.au/loans/loan-agreement-with-guarantee-and-security/ and it sounds like it would suit your needs as well.
You can complete the document online just by filling in some forms and then you can view the results before purchasing. The final product is a downloadable word document which is professionally formatted and ready to sign. The site is run by Lawyers anyway, so in my opinion it is just as good as going to one and a lot cheaper.
Anyway, have a look around, there are plenty of sites that sell them but as I said, their document worked for me and I would use them again.
You can try writing your own loan agreement, but in my opinion, I would leave it to the professionals! Hope this information is useful.

I was interested in starting my business online also. I wanted to find out the cost of getting my website to the top of search engines like google, yahoo, etc
where do I go to do that?
How much does it cost?

If you have a hosted site with your “whatever.com” as the address
you can go to Google & Yahoo and ask them to add your site to their search engines for free.
You can also join Adsense from Google and add a meta data tag line to the header of your home page.
When you join Adsense you can also elect to pay per click to advertise your site on the right hand pane of the Google search page you can elect to pay a 1cent per click or a 1 dollar per click, the more you pay the higher up the list it goes. You offset this cost by putting Adsense banners on your site, advertising similar services to yours.

What are the pros and cons of providing financial services online to a business? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I have a huge problem doing business with someone who I can’t see face to face or shake there hand. I hope all of my customers feel the same. The Mortgage world is upside down right now because people didn’t read the documents they signed. So why would you do something that dictates the financial outcome of your fututre with someone who you can’t speak to in person???

Joseph asks…
I understand there are probably many different kinds of computer programmer.
I am interested in the creation of applications, websites and what is involved in starting and maintaining large online services such as Instagram, SpringPad, Vimeo etc. and how these franchises began before they became successful.
What skills, programming languages etc. are typically expected of someone involved in the above fields? Where can I go to learn these skills, or learn which ones are most applicable to my interests?
Thanks in advance.

Look you don’t need to know what skills are required you just need to learn them. The best place to learn programing is on “the new boston” youtube channel. He is entertaining as well as a good teacher. He will not waist your time and he teaches many languages such as java, basic, ruby, python, c++ and more. After that you should plane on getting a Business degree to help you put these skills to your own companies. It is much better to make your own Company then to work at one because you can get much more money then just getting a job at say microsoft.

Susan asks…
How has The internet helped to excel business online? How has it increased sales? etc
cheers

In cases i know the internet has helped people to reach a wider audience, offer a wider range of services and reduce costs.
Eg. If you have a business you take advantage of advertising on the internet and even selling your products online.
You do not need to have a store front front in some cases. If you use ebay etc that would be your store front in effect.
You can check out the website below for more ways on how the internet can help you make money.

Jenny asks…
New glossy contemporary lifestyle magazine targets American Muslim girls.
Chicago, IL (PRWeb) January 19, 2007 — American teen Muslim girls are much like teen girls everywhere – so says a recent nationwide study of Muslim girls aged 14-18 years. The study was conducted on behalf of Muslim Girl Magazine , a new bi-monthly glossy magazine launched this month to give 400,000 American Muslim teen girls a lively and uniquely relevant perspective on contemporary living.
“Our study showed that these girls go to public school, watch a little too much television, read teen magazines, surf the Internet, use Google, enjoy YouTube, play video games, shop a lot, talk on the telephone and spend time just hanging out,” says Faye Kennedy, VP at execuGo Media, the publisher that commissioned the study. “In short, they are pretty much like most other American teenagers.” The study also highlighted some likely differences: for example, they get news at Al Jazeera, socialize at IslamiCity and count among their top hobbies, Qur’an study.
The research confirmed Kennedy’s hunch: teen Muslim girls in America would love a lifestyle magazine that does what no other teen girl magazine has done for them – give them a means of enjoying contemporary life within the values they love. Over 90% of the panel, when shown the initial concept, indicated that they liked it, thought it was what they need, would read it and would recommend it to their friends.
Ausma Khan, PhD, writer, human rights lawyer and activist, liked the concept so much that she left a teaching position at Northwestern University to become Editor in Chief. “Most representations of Muslims in the media are negative,” she says. “Muslim Girl Magazine challenges those perceptions by telling the stories of Muslim teens who are proud to be American and who contribute to American society in so many positive ways. This is a chance for their voices to be heard. Our editorial mandate is to ‘enlighten, celebrate and inspire’ them.”
Challenging stereotypes about Muslim girls in America, Muslim Girl Magazine re-defines the face of Muslim youth in America. Its innovative content showcases teen girls who are equally proud of their identity as Americans and Muslims, while not shying away from the conflict inherent in being both. It also shakes up the complacency of Muslims themselves by emphasizing the diversity of practice within American Muslim communities, typically a no-go area.
The premiere issue of the magazine features girls who have joined the Peace Corps and volunteered in Indonesia. Advice columns tackle everything from boyfriends to divorced parents to anti-Muslim discrimination. Regular departments range from Qur’an Notes to Hot List reviews of TV shows like The CW Television Network’s ‘Gilmore Girls.’ And a special feature on the hit show ‘24’ directly confronts the biggest elephant in the room—the association of Muslims with terrorism.
Khan says, “We’re showing hijab-wearing basketball players alongside contemporary fashion designers and artists. We want to dispel the notion that Muslim teens conform to one particular model. Veiled or unveiled, Muslim girls participate fearlessly in sports, the arts, international travel and their local mosques.”
Muslim Girl Magazine launched with a planned circulation of 50,000 copies per issue in the first year and expects to grow to 100,000 within two years. Dianna Hightower, Publisher and Director of Business Development and Advertising, expects advertising to grow quickly. “Today the Muslim market is where the Hispanic market was five years ago — on the verge of a major breakout. Households of Muslim girls comprise a valuable commercial profile with higher than average scores on income, education, occupation and size. Having Fox Broadcasting and Oxford University Press advertise in our first issue is evidence that prestigious and smart advertisers see strong potential.”
Muslim Girl Magazine is published by award-winning execuGo Media of Toronto, Canada and distributed worldwide by RCS of Los Angeles, California. The cover price is $4.95 US ($5.95 CDN). The annual subscription rate is $19.99 at www.muslimgirlmagazine.com.

WASHINGTON (National Catholic Register) – Products such as Bratz dolls clad in leather mini-skirts abound on the market for girls under age 10. Teen magazines and television shows promote underdressed celebrities such as Paris Hilton and Brittney Spears as role models. A porn actress writes a best-selling autobiography, and pre-teen girls show up at her book signings.

Parents have long expressed concern that their daughters are being “sexualized” by merchandise and mass media.
Sex sells, and it is increasingly being used to market clothing, toys and entertainment to young girls.
But is society selling these girls short? What are the long-term implications of teaching a child that she must look and behave like a sexual object to be fashionable or popular?
The American Psychological Association addressed the issue in a recent study. It formed a task force to define sexualization, examine its prevalence and provide examples in society and in cultural institutions. The task force also set out to evaluate the evidence suggesting that sexualization has negative consequences for girls and for society. It described positive alternatives to help counteract it.
The report, published Feb. 19, defined sexualization as something “occurring when a person’s value comes only from his or her sexual appeal or behavior, to the exclusion of other characteristics, and when a person is sexually objectified.” Results showed that every media form contributed to the sexualization of girls and young women by portraying them in a sexual manner more often than boys and men.
Task force member Sharon Lamb, co-author of “Packaging Girlhood: Rescuing Our Daughters From Marketers’ Schemes,” said marketers play a significant role in sexualizing girls. “They are reaching down to younger and younger girls, selling a version of what it means to be a teenager,” she said. “According to them it is all about being hot and sexy.”
The task force also found that parents, teachers and peers may also contribute to the sexualization by conveying the message that physical appearance is the most important goal for a girl. The study went on to suggest that girls may also play a part in sexualizing themselves by wearing clothing to make them look “sexy,” thus viewing themselves as sexual objects.
Damaging
The American Psychological Association’s report concluded that sexualization was damaging to all women, but particularly to younger girls who are still forming a sense of self. Negative effects include increased risks of depression, eating disorders and low self-esteem. It also discussed the negative impact the sexualization of girls can have on society as a whole as it affects other groups, including men and boys.
Catholic psychiatrist Richard Fitzgibbons sees narcissism in our culture with the worship of the body. He points to media outlets such as MySpace and YouTube.
“These Internet programs contribute to a person believing their identity is determined by their body,” he said. “A girl typically puts pictures of herself online to get attention and comments from others. Some girls get so caught up in the Internet culture, their own self-worth is measured by how their Internet ‘friends’ view their physical appearance.”
Citing John Paul II’s 1994 “Letter to Families,” Fitzgibbons explained that permissive parenting can cause a girl to succumb to sexualization. “Girls are at risk when parents fail to correct selfishness, form modesty and monitor friendships,” he said.
The task force recommends educating parents on the dangers of sexualizing girls and urges them to become more involved in viewing media with their children. The task force also encouraged organized groups to step up and confront the issue by offering girls “practical and psychological alternatives to the values conveyed by popular culture.”
“If marketers and the media assume more of a social conscience, this sexualization of girls can be prevented,” said Lamb. “Parent protests and support of watchdog groups are also important.”
Joseph D’Agostino of the Population Research Institute, a non-profit research and educational organization, asserts that the American Psychological Association’s report stops short by failing to mention the sexualization of girls as a result of the feminist movement. In a weekly briefing, he wrote, “The politically correct view is that the sexualization of girls and feminism are opposing forces, but in fact they have gone hand-in-hand.”
D’Agostino attested that feminism teaches girls that chastity oppresses them and a girl must liberate herself sexually to be equal with men.
“They have taught that there are no natural limits to sexuality,” he wrote. “Based on feminist principles, why shouldn’t little girls sexualize themselves? And why shouldn’t adult men and women view them as sexual if there is no such thing as unnatural sexuality?”
Fitzgibbons said parents must “grow in wisdom as authoritative parents.” He also encouraged priests and Catholic educators to “communicate the truth about sexual morality and warn of the dangers of the sexual utilitarian philosophy and the contraceptive mentality.”
Reaching Out
Fitzgibbons recommends reading John Paul II’s 1994 Letter to Families and his 1981 Apostolic Exhortation, “Familiaris Consortio” (“The Role of the Christian Family in the Modern World”), as well as teaching children the truth about human sexuality.
“An excellent resource is Theology of the Body for Teens by Jason Evert, Brian Butler, Mark Hart and Crystalina Evert from Ascension Press,” he said.
Catholic groups have recognized this crisis and are reaching out to young women. Pure Fashion, an organization that helps women ages 14-18 “embrace their authentic beauty and innate dignity as children of God, focuses on guiding young women to live the virtues of modesty and purity in their schools and communities.”
According to Rhonda Boyle, Pure Fashion’s national assistant, the program is designed to combat the sexualization of girls through fashion.
“We are working hard,” she said, “to change our culture by creating role models who will live a life of purity and modesty in fashion in their schools, churches and communities.”

The religious leaders controlled us in the past, all that sexual oppression was to keep us from having orgies and impregnating each others wives.
Want to know what i think? Western civ. Has peaked and just like the islamic, roman, and greek empires we are experimenting with gender roles and sexuality before we fall.
Its a “players” world now.

Maria asks…
The alternatives would seem to be trying to fix a broken system, that is on fire, and totally dysfunctional, and utterly unable to receive any information from outside it’s broken self.
or
We can just do nothing and slide down the drain as the whole US economy and all US power in the world slides down the drain, so at least we didn’t waste any effort trying to do anything to save ourselves ..
or
We could start building personal networks of Co-Op based economics.
There are 1000 kinds of Co-Ops (food, clothing, toys, books, tools, fuel, vitamins, whatever).
A sovereign individual who is in some way productive could join one or several co-operatives and make it a policy “I never buy anything from anybody that doesn’t buy anything from me.”
These would all be considered restraints of trade, under the Sheman Act, the Clayton Act, the Robinson Patman Act etc, but with the government collapsing under its own weight and into it own corruption and filth, it is very unlikely that they will send a team of DOJ lawyers to your house to monitor and convict you of the crime of economic survival. Remember you have a right to a jury trial. The other folks on the jury might be doing the same thing or getting ready to.
So, the sovereign individual, by necessity, operates maybe not so much in accordance with each and every rule that was popular in 1940. Necessity is often a legal excuse, and sometimes even a justification.
Trading communes could link up, so many specialized communes can trade through hubs. This is on a members only basis. Membership is protected by freedom of association guarantees in the First Amendment, that’s why some country clubs still get to pick and choose their members. Trading communes are like clubs not like public markets. They are more like intra-nets or LANs than they are like the Internet.
To stay viable they need two things — They need legacies — fairly large ones — help defray their very frugal but unavoidable administrative and legal expenses. There are tons of rich people in USA. Some believe in the sovereign inidividual concept. They want to see more of it, instead of a sluide into socialism and finally into anarchy. So legacies are a possibility. If PBS and NPR can get them, why not Economic Self-Reliance Communes?
The other thing that’s needed is exports. But not exports to China. Just to outside the Commune. Stuff has to be created within the commune and sold to outsiders for gold, or cash that is immediately converted into gold. This is called Merchantilism — and it was the entire basis of the economic success of USA during the period 1787 till 1887. It does work. And the exporting is easy — just take the stuff down the block, sell it at a farmer’s market, sell it on Ebay, or Craig’s list. It’s exporting because it is merchantilist trading with an outside economic actor.
Hard cash is needed even by sovereign individuals because they can’t make their own patent pharmaceuticals. They have to trade with the world for that. They can’t do their own surgical operations. They can’t build their own computer chips. So, for some things there has to be disposable hard cash. That means the Commune must have a source — Legacies and Exports.
Three basic choices (1) fix an unfiaxable system (2) passively go down the drain with it or (3) unplug from it and start an alternative economics — a new reality, when the old one won’t do.
In management this third option would be an example of the Blue Ocean Strategy, first made popular by the Boston Consulting Group.
It’s for smart people.
So thank goodness for the First Amendment — not every highway has to be a public highway.
Networks of Trading Communes linked together by quality control, well designed goods, and free flow of information — everybody in the system gives good weight — liike Bob Dylan said — when you live outside the law you MUST be honest.
This does not bring down capitalism. It does not bring down socialism. It bypasses both with harm to neither. It’s inherently convivial — live and let live. Exercise your liberty or you don’t merit its continuance!

I respectfully differ with Bored Goblin: if employee ownership can work in a company as large as Publix Supermarkets, and it works well enough that Kroger tends to avoid going head-to-head against Publix, the only Krogers left in Florida being standalone drugstores, then I see no reason that hospitals and manufacturing firms cannot follow the cooperative model.
Some years ago on MacNeil/Lehrer instead of doing the usual Hallmark Card boilerplate Thanksgiving story an economist did a report on the economic history of the Pilgrim and Puritan colonies: They failed as Corporations because the workers did not achieve their maximal productivity for the benefit of absentee owners, they failed as collectives because the free riders floated along at the expense of the producers, but succeeded as cooperative ventures where the rewards of productivity were more equitably portioned, thus giving the workers greater incentive to work hard and well.

i just wanted to know what free or little cost website besides craigslist can i find work for my home improvement business online.

There are TONS of free classified websites that let you place free “service” ads. You can do a search by entering “free classified ads” and that will at least get you started and it’s no cost!

Daniel asks…
I would like to be able to know if a business online is legitimate before providing personal information or credit card information.

Check the better business bureau. It’s at www.bbb.org . You can enter the business name & they’ll tell what complaints there are against the company.

John asks…
Without simply trying to sell me on your program, what is the best “real” way to start a business online, from home, and begin to make money? I have seemingly tried everything and read everything, and since Google’s changes in the past year, I just can’t make anything work. Does anyone really know a way to make money, honestly and legitimately, by putting forth effort and hard work, but that leads to financial success? Help and Thank You in advance!

Its still possible to make money on the internet, and you’re right about one thing: You have to put work and effort into it. I seriously doubt its possible to make a “passive income”.
A few suggestions:
– be an affiliate and promote other peoples products
– Blogging: write articles and include links to products or write and sell articles. There’s always a demand for content. Check out iwrtiter.com, freelancer.com and elance.com
– take pictures and sell them at fotolia and shutterstock

Ken asks…
I want to start a business online and I am not sure what to do before I start, must I pay a sum of money or…..?

There are lots of way in Singapore to get money.
* You can get in contact with firms in Singapore and ask if they allow you to sell their products online to other countries that they don’t have contacts. In Singapore nearly everyone is in trade business so I am sure that you can find some good contacts.
* And if you just want to do your own business as online, then you can join the club which I am a member of. As beginning you can watch the free videos and if you feel that you can do , then you can enter. The link for free videos and some information from the owner of the club is here; http://www.tips-for-home-made-money.com
But for your info, each month as you stay member there is 97 usd charge. To be honest I got paid 378 usd in my first month, so that was ok for me for the beginning.

Steven asks…
What is the cost of starting a business online and how do I go about it. I would like to start an estate sale business where people come to me to find estate sales. Right now there are only two businesses regarding this. Any information would be helpful.

The cost might be vary depend on your website developments, your business plans, taxes and licenses involve, etc.
To create an online based business you definitely need a website, so first of all, you need to create a websites. If you are serious about run these business, hire someone or company to create, host, maintain, and manage your site would be helpful. Start with some research about create a websites or hiring developers through search engine. A part time developer cost around $50-$70 a hour depend on their experienced. You can get a cheaper services through freelancing portal such as Elance :
http://elance.com
Instead of hiring someone to develop a website, you can create your own as well. Even if you don’t have any experiences in programming at all, there are several websites platform which you can use to create, host and manage your site in your own. The right way to run an online business is run an eCommerce site, check out these ecommerce platform to create your own site :
http://izzonet.com
If you have had decided about the category your business will run, you should doing research about competitors and audiences, as they just 2 competitors in your niche, the competition might be slightly easy, but remember about audiences. Which type and how much audiences you targeted to visit your websites daily, click on your ads, and make inquiry about real estate, this something you should consider about.

We are thinking about switching our main business phone to a cell phone to lower cost. We have a landline credit card machine. Will I still be able to run cards if I get rid of my business phone service? I assuming probably, but didn’t know for sure

No, but they make internet enabled terminals, or a Square or Paypal smartphone solution. Check with your credit card processor to see if they will let you trade up to a newer terminal, or you may have one that is already internet ready. I think the Verifone VX570 can be dual compatible, but I don’t know if you can field upgrade it to internet.

Sandy asks…
I need cheap services like internet and phone services.

The quality of internet services differs from area to area. So, I am not sure which internet provider will be best for you but I can of course help you with your business phone service. Most of the business firms today are using Hosted PBX systems clubbed with VOIP for their business. I have also been using this service from The Real PBX for my business and I have observed positive changes in my business image since this system was last implemented. You can check out their services with http://www.therealpbx.com/

Nancy asks…
I think it’s pretty self explanatory. If not, I want to be able to control my business phone‘s options remotely from my cell. (Also Verizon) For example, I’m out on a job and there is no one in the office. I want to forward the office line to my cell using my cell to do so.

I have been using VOIP service from The Real PBX and I use the entire interface on my cell phone. You just need to have an internet connection on your phone and you can access the link of the switch provided and manage business operations from there. You can login and customize follow me option so that when your business phone rings during absence from office, the calls can be directed to your cell phone and can also be managed from there. For further reference, you can check out with http://www.therealpbx.com/

Ruth asks…
I am starting a home based business and I want to use our home phone as the business phone. Can I also forward those calls to my cell if I am away. Is there a way to do that?

Your best bet is to subscribe to a Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) service. With VOIP, you can set the line to ring both your land-line and cell phone locations at the same time, ring the land-line then rollover to the cell after a certain number of rings or simply forward all call to the cell phone even though the caller is dialing the landline phone number. If you have a standard phone line, and don’t want to change your number, you can even “port” that number to your VOIP service should you decide to subscribe to one. The VOIP service I use is 8×8 and it offers those features with their standard residential service. I’m sure other VOIP providers offer the same. Just shop around for pricing an features.

Donna asks…
I was thinking about switching my phone service to Vonage and I was hoping people that have or have had Vonage could leave me some feedback so I can make my final decision.
Thanks!

Pros:
– The audio quality of Vonage’s VoIP service is very good, if you have a good internet connection. You should measure your jitter and packet loss here: http://www.pingtest.net/
– Vonage’s uptime is admirable. Rarely are there reports about Vonage being “down”.
– If you move or go traveling, just take your Vonage device with you and plug it in.
– Vonage is probably cheaper than your phone company and may offer better packages and features.
Cons:
– If your internet connection stops working, so does your phone.
– If you want Vonage to work for all the phones in your house, you have to set it up yourself. See http://michigantelephone.workbench.net/ for good instructions about how to do that.
– Vonage has lots of hidden fees. The price you see on their website is not the price you pay. Expect $5.00-$10.00 more per month than they advertise, depending on where you live. This makes Vonage more expensive than many competing VoIP providers.
– Vonage isn’t known for being an upstanding citizen. For example, they were recently the subject of a 32-state investigation into their business practices.

William asks…
I would really like to make six or more figure a year. I have a few online business ideas that I think could be profitable, but I want to know what you think about them. The ideas are….
1. The first online business idea would be where I would sell office chairs on my website. I would get the office chairs wholesale and ship them myself or drop ship. Office furniture is a billion dollar industry. I think this idea could be the most profitable. Do you think this online business idea could make me six or more figures a year?
2. the second idea is a website where people can buy, trade, and sell gift cards for cash. There are however some sites that do this already. I would make money from ads on the site and by charging a small fee to the seller if his sale is successfull. Do you think this online business idea could make me six or more figures a year?
3. The third online business idea is a niche content site. Since I know a lot about the topic of songwriting, I would make a site with lots of content (articles, how tos, reviews, etc.) on the topic of songwriting. All this content will help me gain traffic. I make money from placing ads, adsense, and relevant affiliate products on the site. Do you think this online business idea could make me six or more figures a year?
4. The last idea is a website where users can submit original songs (which they have legal rights to) and other users can listen, rate, comment, and share songs with other users. There will also be a chatroom and a top 10 song list. It is a way for people to get feedback on their music, and also listen to new music. I will rely on ads to make money, but this site could get big enough to be making me big profits. The site would cost 5-10k to make, but I would get funding. Do you think this online business idea could make me six or more figures a year?
Personally, I like the first idea since I think it could make me the most money. Do you think selling office chairs is good though? Is that a good enough product? I would also do the niche content website to double my income. Do you think I could make six or more figures a year with any of these online business ideas?

I’m not convinced that the money is in idea #1. First of all, if I were buying an office chair, I would want to sit it in first. But if you do go that way, definitely go with dropshipping – it will save you a fortune in time and the cost of storage for stocking items.
I think you’re really onto something with #3 & #4 – maybe even combined somehow. My initial thought in reading this was that you should do #4 and incorporate #3 as a paid tutorial that you sell ex. Become A Wicked Songwriter In 10 Easy Steps! You could break it down into several 15-20 minute video training sessions offered by email once a week. Then you can charge a small monthly fee for the duration of the course, and you will build a list that you can market other affiliate products to (multiple streams of income). Once you’ve created the course once, you upload it into an email autoresponder like GetResponse (sign up here: http://shorten.ws/8a69e5 ) and it will automatically be sent to new customers. You get paid every month from doing the work once.
Anyway, I hope you have great success… There are lots of ways to monetize a site for multiple streams of income, so my vote is to do what you love. Besides, then you’ll have the passion to really build it out and keep working on it. Speaking from experience, if you don’t love what you’re doing, it’s pretty hard to keep motivated to do it every single day!
Good luck!

Sandra asks…
I want to do an Online Business. My budget is a meagre $250. I am ready to work around 3 hours a day. I have internet connection at home.
I have tried the following stuff and want to keep away from it:
1.) Affiliate Marketing
2.) Online Surveys and
3.) Paid to Read Email
4.) Domain Flipping
I want an idea in which i will be the owner of the business and i want to earn a decent monthly income at least after 6-8 months of starting the Business. I want to have a website for this.
I have a very little knowledge in web designing. I can create a static site with a Website Builder Software.
Though not immediate, I need to start earning at least after 6-8 months after starting the business.
Please give me good ideas along with the money i have to spend for different things for the start up.
Please indicate the Fixed and Recurring Costs.
Thanks in Advance

Someone with a surefire plan would probably charge you more than $250 to reveal it.
I’m sure you have already read more how to information than you will get here. I’ve heard the internet pros say more than once that the most common cause of failure is quitting, just when success is within reach, too many people, including myself, hop around between too many ideas, hoping to see an immediate payoff. One pro said that in the golden age of ppc 8 out of 10 attempted campaigns would succeed, these days of higher click cost and heavy competition this pro estimates 2 out of 10 campaigns succeed. Some gurus say “fail fast” it’s an essential part of the learning process.
You could blow your budget on education, spend 1/2 for a domain and host and the other half on paid (indian seo) traffic to kick it in gear. Buy and aged domain with a little pr with the promotion budget?
Building on a proven success might be a conservative approach. I understand the going rate for proven working sites is about 12x monthly income, so you could afford a site doing $25/mo currently, it’s not much but it is a demonstrated profitable, if the site was run by an inept operator, you can boost it with intelligent redesign and seo elbow grease.
One of the lower risk approaches, if you posses sound writing skills you might find steady work as a freelance article, sales copy writer, you might develop some high volume skills with 6 months practice.

Donald asks…
Before i start, please give this question some thought to what it is i want (best answer will be rewarded)
I want some good business ideas for making money online with out relying on search engines and affiliates in the future!
I am thinking on a large scale and of course over many years and a lot of time and money spent to get this really big.
What i mean is:
Relying on search engines and affiliate programs at first to grow the business of course. But I don’t want to rely on any affiliate programs like AdSense for my income nor the search engines forever, i want to be able to forget about them and have a online business that stands on its own 2 feet.
Some might say search engines with PPC, they are good, but this is not what i want to start, the competition is at the top.
Having my own PPC ads is something worth having a look at, like Facebook, it is not a search engine, but they do have PPC ads and Facebook don’t need search engines for users or any affiliates for their income.
So any ideas? even if they take a long time to get established, I am not looking to make any quick money or any decent money for few years, I am in it for the long run.
Thanks for reading my long winded question.
***TO Akash R*** This is not what i mean i don’t care bout making money for few years, I want to start something seroius thats going to last, Your forex thing is all a gamble, I am after buisness thats going to stay around and helpful for mu users.

Think of a business that is based on what you are most interested in doing and on what you are most skilled at. You might also want to look at what services are in demand these days.
For example:
1. Social media
2. Market research
3. Website design
4. Website development
If you don’t have any of these skills, you can still make money by hiring people with these set of skills to work for you. You get them clients, you earn money, you pay them what is due to them.
Whatever business you decide to do later on, make sure you do some market research to back up your decisions. With the right market research, it would be easier to come up with product ideas and with strong and effective marketing strategies.

Joseph asks…
I really would like to create an online business that will make me six or more figures a year. I have been researching a while, and have come up with some ideas but am not sure if any of the ideas could be profitable. 1 idea is a website where i sell office chairs that I get wholesale and dropship. I am not sure however if office chairs would be good to sell and be profitable. What do you think?
Another idea is to make a website where people buy, trade, and sell gift card for cash. I make money from charging small fee to succesful sales and placing ads on site. Do you think this could make me six or more figure a year?
Another idea could be a niche content site on the subject of songwriting. Even though this could make me some money, can it make me six or more figures a year?
The last idea probably wont work, but it is a site where users can submit orginal songs (which they have legal rights to) and other users can listen, rate, comment, and share songs with other user. There would be a chat room and a top 10 song list. I would make money from ads. The problem is i would cost me 5-10k to make the site and im not sure if I should spend that money on the site if i dont know that it could be profitable.
So i really like the office chair idea since i think it is the most profitable. Do you think office chairs are good to sell though? What should I sell online if office chairs arent profitable (please no ebooks or info products). What are you’re thoughts on the other ideas. I could possibaly run the office chair site and list some on ebay, aswell as the niche content site to really increase my income. Any ideas?

Simple easy online business ideas?how to get started?
Okay I am no fool, and don’t believe in get rich quick schemes. Nor do I have any self made invention that I think the world cannot do without. I simply am looking to make a minimal amount of income here and there. I spend lots of time on the computer so I figure why not start an online business. I would just like some simple suggestions that have been sucsessful by a large margain. Maybe selling t-shirts. Or whatever. I also figure I would have to invest some money into this.I am fine with that. Any suggestions you have for me will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

What do 99 out of 100 people want to do if time and money were not an issue? It is travel. If 80 percent of people are already booking online, what does that tell you?
People love to talk about their vacations and show pictures of the good times they had with family and friends. They love to talk about the people they met, the different cultures they interacted with and the new friends they made along the way.
Travel encompasses so many industries from flights, cruises, hotels, cars, vacations and much more. Go to any major airport, any cruise terminal and see the long lines of people. They didn’t get those flights or cruises for free. They booked them some where, most likely online.
Travel is a simple and not complicated. People have been booking online for ten years plus. The only difference now is that instead of the big people of internet travel hogging of all the commissions and benefits, the everday “joe traveler” can now enjoy some extra income.

Old school is way better in my opinion. I can’t even call the new sh1t (on the radio) hip-hop. Now i’m talking ’bout the stuff like that only is about bitches and money.. They don’t express theirselves, they only want money and fame.
I really love the native tongues possee (Tribe, Jungle brothers, LONS) rakim, biz markie and stuff like that and that’s what i call hip-hop, not lil’wayne. Too bad Leaders of the new school split up.. They could have led the new school 😉
What do you think?

Asky is wickedy wack…….to answer ure question….real hip hop isnt played on the radio….there are some seldom times that they will put a dope joint but like i said its seldom…..the new school sucks….they aint got passion for hip hop…they just wanna get paid…its theyre job to make rap records…not because they love to make records…thats the difference between new school and old…..old skool was creative and dope because they didnt give a fck if they will make a dollar….all they want was to HIP HOP AND DONT STOP…..FCK THE MEDIA….they dont know sh!t about hip hop

We just send all our politicians to Iran. They would run Iran broke real quick and they wouldn’t be in our hair any more either. We know what we want and what we need. We don’t need the spend happy ice holes in DC any more. We could spend our money as we see fit.

How about we stop with the kumba ya biz and just start knocking off anyone we see fit. Lets take over the whole world b/c we can? That would solve many problems.

I have had my parents who are realtors ask a few lenders if they have heard of this and they havent, they are looking into it more to find out if its real or not. Please email me if you have ever dealt with them good and the bad! mlbagley0712@aol.com

It’s a scam. The guy that picks up when you call (always the same guy) is a con-artist.

Please limit your answers to those that are both legal and ethical. No Biz Opps or ads. Real suggestions only.

Obviously ALL sellers will want to source the cheapest products. (and the big boys do-so you are competing with others who can spend thousands £’s on stock)
Ultimately you must choose what you intend to sell and therefore research how you can get it cheaper (usually buying at huge quantities)
TBH noone is likely going to help you be a competitor
You must research your products and how much you can spend on your stock

I want to add this to my repetiore of tricks. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, it’s the card trick where a spectator picks a card and you attempt to draw it on the back of the deck and it is wrong, only to have a drawing of their real card emerge from under the original drawing.

Hi buddy
I dont know much about cards. But i can help you in one way. I saw a website while surfing in the net. There i found lot of informations about poker. Just visit the link below.

I’ve got a interview next month for a marketing position.
Marketing and Sales Assistant
We are looking to recruit a Marketing and Sales Assistant to help run a busy sales and marketing department.
This is a new opportunity with a varied role and would suit a bright individual with excellent organisational skills wishing to pursue a career in marketing.
You will be efficient with a keen eye for detail, excellent IT skills and creative with good all round communication skills and a flexible attitude. You will be involved in all aspects of marketing.
they emailed me saying bring some examples of my work, i emailed back saying ‘what kind of thing do you want’ the replied with
‘I would like to see anything you think will demonstrate your ability to do this role.’
THAT’S NO HELP!!! the job role barely says anything. any tips what i should do?

Seeing as it sounds like a reasonably junior job and in no way sets out any minimum qualifications, criteria, or previous experience necessary, this is a very strange thing to say.
I’m currently recruiting for a very senior Digital Marketing Manager and when people apply and send their CV to me, I email and ask them to send me a brief summary of their digital marketing experience. What I’m looking to find out is:
– What digital marketing methods have they used?
– What other innovative marketing methods do they have involvement with?
– What projects have they used these methods on? How successful was it? How big was it?
– What company did they work for and/or who was their client if they come from an agency or a consulting firm?
As the previous Answerer said, writing all of this stuff down in advance is good, but what I would do is type it and take it with you. Then, if you don’t have actual concrete examples of your work that you can take, you can leave this with them instead (or as well, if you do have something else).
One thing that you may find helpful is to do a bit more research into the company and find out exactly what they do – what methods of marketing they use and so on – as this might give you some ideas about what they would be looking for.

I am an IT Trainer at our company (500 people in house and another 500+ at warehouse locations and field staff). Currently we are targeting our staff at our corporate office. I offer computer training every day and each session typically takes 30-45 minutes on one specific topic, for example, Excel Macros.
I typically have 4-5 people in each session, but I would like to have more attend. I have some people here that want to learn more about computers because the love to learn and also realize it will save them time. The others say they don’t have time.
I am working with our web developers to create a site that has e-learning and list the classes they can register that I have scheduled. I will include a point system and as they accumulate points for attending they can choose prizes. I am also going to have a contest that each class you attend you will be entered to win a printer. Finally, I email newsletter with tips and also have a question with a give away as well.
Any ideas
I am trying to get more people to attend classes or want to attend. What can I do to make it more appealing, marketing that will interest them, etc?

It sounds as though you need to offer something that will eventually turn into more money for the participants….such as continuing education credits toward a certification or degree.
Perhaps there is a grant for which you could apply that would
a./ justify hiring temps for the time that participants leave regularly scheduled work time to attend training
or probably BETTER…
B./ defray the cost of obtaining certification credits or college credits for participants.
You may need to look into this with a local university or business school and see if it is possible. They may even be able to help you with grant-writing if you use their university or business school.

Maria asks…
tried all sorts is there any where to get list for free i dont want to spam but perhaps there is a site where people happy to get emails i been to list market sites and they charge a lot what i think is only a few address any tips or advice would be most welcome thanks
ps i have no cash lol

You have a couple of options to building your own list, both of which aren’t very appetizing. You can use safelists, which will allow you to mail all of their members for an amount of credits, which you earn by receiving and viewing emails from other members. The second option is to buy a list, which is not recommended. There are several sites that sell email addresses, but the top autoresponders like Aweber won’t accept those names, so you’ll need to use your own software based autoresponder to mail them. This is very risky, because you have no protection against spam complaints.
That’s why the best thing to do is build your own list. It’s not that difficult. All you need is a decent squeeze page and an AWeber or GetResponse account, which are like $19 per month or so.
Then, you need to drive traffic. You can easily do that by wriitng and submitting articles to places like Ezine Articles and GoArticles. That’s the best way to get targeted subscribers.
You’ll also be protected against spam, because these people will have to give you specific permission to email them, and there will be record of it.
Unfortunately, if you want to make decent money with an email list, it’s going to require a small investment in an autoresponder, domain, and web hosting. That’s just the way it is. However, it will cost you less than $50 to get going.

I don’t understand, what does this mean? How can it be a scam? The guy told me to show up at that address for an interview. Should I go? Or is CareerBuilder just being stupid and I should go?
Please tell me what this means.

The bit at the bottom is to cover CareerBuilder’s rear end, because there are some scammers out there who will abuse the service to send out emails worthy of the warning. It says nothing either way about this particular employer.
